Temple Station Deputies Save two Teens with Narcan Los Angeles County Sheriffs Department 2022-11-05 | Two teenagers are alive today, thanks to Deputy Sheriffs assigned to Temple Station and Narcan. On the evening of November 3, 2022, Deputies Duran, Cuevas, and Lopez responded to the 700 block of Betty Hill Drive, in the city of Duarte regarding a medical distress call. The call stated two 17-year-old teenagers were not breathing, and the family screaming for help could be heard in the background. Deputies Duran, Cuevas, and Lopez were the first units to arrive at the residence. They found two teenage boys lying on a bedroom floor, unresponsive, with family members performing CPR. The Deputies immediately assessed both teenagers and saw they were not breathing. Believing the teenagers ingested Fentanyl or another type of opioid drug, the deputies administered three doses of Naloxone, also known as Narcan, to each teenager while simultaneously administering live-saving first aid/CPR. Within minutes, both teenagers began breathing, and Deputies were able to locate a pulse. Upon the arrival of the LA County Fire Department, both teenagers were transported to a hospital, where they were treated and subsequently released to their parents. Sheriff Alex Villanueva said, “If not for the swift, decisive action of these deputies, both young men would have become lives claimed by the opioid pandemic.” Fentanyl is a pharmaceutical drug created to help patients with pain management. It is approximately 100 times more potent than morphine and 50 times more powerful than heroin. Fentanyl is one of the most dangerous and deadly substances ever produced. Illicit drug manufacturers and distributors discovered Fentanyl offers a very effective replacement filler or supplement to street-level drugs such as heroin, cocaine, and methamphetamine.The best way to help combat the Fentanyl drug problem is through awareness and education. #LASD asks that you please take the time to educate your children and loved ones on the dangers of not just Fentanyl but all drugs! LASD Seeks Public’s Help to Solve Murder of Philadelphia Resident Donte Lee Johnson; 20,000 Reward Los Angeles County Sheriffs Department 2022-11-02 | Homicide Bureau detectives will announce a $20,000 reward, approved by the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors, in exchange for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those responsible for the shooting death of Mr. Donte Lee Johnson. On March 5, 2021, at approximately 2:09 p.m., Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department (LASD) deputies responded to an assault with a deadly weapon, gunshot victim call, at 609 N. Long Beach Boulevard, Compton, CA. Upon arrival, deputies observed the victim on the ground, suffering from an apparent gunshot wound to the upper torso. The victim, Donte Lee Johnson succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased. Mr. Johnson, a resident of Philadelphia, PA., was visiting friends and family in the County of Los Angeles, to attend a social gathering in the City of Compton. Mr. Donte Lee Johnson’s mother will be in attendance and will ask for the public’s help in providing any information that will lead to those responsible for the murder of her son.

A Century Regional Detention Facility deputy took swift action to save a choking inmate. Los Angeles County Sheriffs Department 2022-09-17 | An inmate's life was saved on September 15, 2022, when Deputy Palacios conducted the Heimlich maneuver to dislodge pieces of food from the inmate's throat. At approximately 7:30 p.m., Deputy Palacios heard someone banging on one of the temporary booking cell's doors. Palacios immediately went to the booking front cells and saw an inmate inside the cell, making a gaging sound and gesturing he was choking. Palacios immediately entered the cell and attempted to assist the inmate by positioning himself behind the inmate to perform the Heimlich maneuver. Palacios performed six to ten abdominal thrusts until the inmate ejected the blockage. The inmate began breathing again, and medical personnel was summoned. He was transported to St. Francis Medical Center for further evaluation. The intense moment of Deputy Palacios springing into action to perform life-saving measures was captured on facility camera footage.

Those locations included the homes of Los Angeles County Supervisor Sheila Kuehl and Los Angeles County Civilian Oversight Commissioner Patricia “Patti” Giggans. Also searched were offices located at: Los Angeles County Hall of Administration, Peace Over Violence Headquarters, and LA Metro Headquarters. They will also release a picture of what they believe to be the actual suspect vehicle.On Wednesday, November 23, 2016, 16-year-old Danah Rojo-Rivas was in the backseat of her mother’s car, leaving a church function when suspects were chasing unrelated persons in a vehicle. The intended target exited his vehicle and fled south across Euclid Avenue in the City of Lynwood. The suspect fired several times, missing his target, but striking the car Danah was in. Danah was fatally wounded during the shooting. Homicide Detectives and deputies will go door to door in the neighborhood passing out flyers with a picture of what they believe to be the actual suspect vehicle.

Rowland Heights Robber Suspect arrested Los Angeles County Sheriffs Department 2022-08-16 | On July 9, 2022, Major Crimes Bureau’s - Metro Detail detectives learned of an armed robbery that occurred in the parking lot of the 99 Ranch Market in Rowland Heights, CA. An Asian female adult and an Asian male adult were walking to their vehicle in the parking lot when they were confronted by two male Black adult suspects wearing hoodies. The suspects were armed with handguns, and they demanded a watch one of the victims was wearing. Before the victims could react or comply with the suspects’ demands, they were physically assaulted by the suspects, causing both victims to fall to the ground. The suspects then physically removed the watch from the male’s wrist. The suspects fled in a white-colored Dodge Challenger with paper plates that contained distinctive traffic collision damage to the rear passenger fender.

It was learned that at the time of the robbery, Suspect Watts was on parole for a prior carjacking arrest. The vehicle used during the robbery was located and a handgun believed to have been used during the robbery was also located and seized. Evidence was taken from the residence. Homicide Detectives Ask for the Public’s Help in Solving the Cold Case Murder of Jesse Crooks Los Angeles County Sheriffs Department 2022-07-29 | On August 19th, 2004 at 9:22PM Jesse Crooks, was murdered near the intersection of intersection of Slauson Avenue and Central Avenue in the County of Los Angeles. Jesse was driving westbound on Slauson Avenue, approaching Central Avenue when a burgundy SUV or Van occupied with multiple individuals pulled alongside Jesse’s white GMC Jimmie. The investigation revealed at least two individuals shot into Jesse’s vehicle as he was driving. The murder investigation went cold and within the last couple of years, several witnesses have come forward with new information. During the initial 2004 investigation witnesses at the time sat down with members of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Forensic Artist team to provide a representation of the two of the suspects. Investigators have since identified new witnesses on additional suspects who have also sat down with members of the Forensic Artist team to provide representation of the two last unknown suspects. Investigators are seeking the public’s assistance in identifying the individuals in the forensic sketches and any information on the murder of Jesse Crooks.
