The afternoon I arrived it was absolutely pouring rain. After seeing some sights with my girlfriend we headed to look for an epic playground I heard about. We didn't find the epic playground until late at night and everything was still soaked. Luckily it wasn't raining the next morning so we went back to the playground with only 90 minutes to train before we had to catch a ferry. Having not seen any decent videos of this spot I decided to film a run through it to show what the spot looks like. There were SO MANY other moves I wanted to try and still more than half of the park to explore, but here's what I was able to come up with in the short amount of time I had. Hope yah likes! Filmed with iphone 5S.Ep. 22 - Res Talks - Max Output Trainingresorigins2014-02-27 | Check out episode 7 for more information on why you should be doing maximal output training for all the fundamental movements in parkour. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vvjiEPbVAk8 All Ideas sourced from: Training for Sport: Operational Output vs. Maximum Output James Smith www.powerdevelopmentinc.com
Try to do 8 - 10 max output kongs on to mats or other soft surfaces. Then move on to a dive kong or kong precision that represents 80 - 90% of your ability and practice it for an additional 5 - 10 reps.
To get the most out of this make sure you put as much power as possible in to your max output kong. The technical set up afterwards should be submaximal enough that you can add other techniques and create a line/combo out of it.
Try this and let me know in the comments if it helped!Ep. 21 - Damn it feels good...resorigins2014-01-12 | Some clips I took with an iphone 5s of renovations at the gym. Also we show you the only simple exercises we use for max strength development with our athletes. These examples are by no means tutorials on how to perform the lifts. Please do your research before adding any of these lifts in to your training. Remember that the weight room isn't the only place to build strength. You can build strength from sprinting, jumping, body weight lifts, and even parkour techniques!Ep. 18 - Res Talks - Top Outresorigins2013-01-30 | Top Outs Edited by YaredEp. 17 - Res Talks - The Absolute Best Lift for Parkour & Jumpingresorigins2013-01-05 | Most parkour guys get in to lifting barbells because of the positive transfer it can have on their jumping ability. Squats, Deadlifts, Cleans, and their variations are great builders of general strength particularly in the lower body. Increasing your maximal strength by using the method of progressive overload causes not only your muscles to grow, but also your nervous system to adapt. Motor units adapt to fire more frequently, and it is by this synaptic response that your body becomes more efficient at producing power. It is important to note that the more effort you can express in a lift, the more power output you are going to receive as a transfer.
No single lower body generated barbell lift is going to have any more effect than the other on jumping ability or parkour. This is because the biomechanics of a jump in parkour are not the same as what your body does when it lifts a barbell. For example: the arms are often used in a task specific way in a barbell lift that is nothing like a jump, and we all know that arm action is imperative to jumping. The lower body action in a lift (extension) might be similar to jumping, but the similarities do not make it equivalent to jumping. The dynamic speed, and reactive motion of an unweighted jump can not be recreated under or holding on to a barbell. For this reason we can only look at barbell exercises as general performance builders, and not specific ability builders.
When putting together a program that includes a barbell lift as a maximal strength builder it is important for parkour athletes to choose the lift they are best at. Do not waste your time trying to learn a lifting technique that is horribly unnatural to you. Your time will be much better spent doing an exercise you're good at and you like doing. You will be able to produce more output with the exercise you're good at, and because of that you will see a better transfer to your jumping ability. If you happen to be good at several variations you can rotate exercises to accomodate resistance, or add bands and chains to change the dynamics of the lift.

My high intensity days are Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday, with Saturday occasionally being an optional "Random Big Stuff" day if the weather is nice and good friends are around. I have low intensity training on Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday (Monday is typically an off day). I don't always make every training day of my program, but I've been keeping a tighter daily schedule lately and that's been helping me be more consistent.

Even if I have to film them at midnight.Ep. 04 - Res Talks - Climb Up Practiceresorigins2012-04-07 | Sorry for the long absence, but we've been hard at work building the gym.
In this episode Tom and I show you what we consider to be the best way to train climb ups and test your speed.
This skill is better performed with the athlete touching a flag at the beginning and end of the time. This is much easier to observe than watching the athletes hip movement. You can place a flag or target over head, or get a friend to hold up their hand.
The descent is by far the biggest factor for over all speed. Dropping fast will not only shave time off of the descent itself, but also allow for a more powerful elastic/reactive response when you pull to climb up. Spend some time practicing dropping slowly before adding speed if you've never done it before.
Training for Cat Leaps vs Training for Wall Passes:
Although we feel this exercise is good for both, you may want to try different variations such as dropping to a cat position. Dropping down is a seriously overlooked skill, and so is reactive ability. Starting a climb up from a static start position will not produce results comparable to dropping or jumping into a starting position. So it would be in your best interest to train your climb ups by performing an arm jump or a climb down first.
Adding Repetitions:
When training a skill it is best to keep repetitions low. By doing fewer repetitions you can focus on one cue at a time, and not be inhibited by fatigue and increased stress. Work capacity can be increased through other means using less complex exercises. Adding repetitions to an exercise that is of crap quality only leads to a large pile of crap.Teaser - ORIGINS PARKOUR & ATHLETIC FACILITYresorigins2012-03-22 | http://www.OriginsParkour.com

I learned a lot in 2010. I started the year knowing my weaknesses and decided to only focus on those things. What happened was I kept trying to do big things for those weaknesses. I got to a point where I thought I had made improvements, only to find out that others had progressed even further. I learned nothing by trying to go after big moves. If you have bad habits you gotta work them in the smallest ways possible. Isolate them and break them down until they are gone for good. Only then can you go after the bigger things. 2010 was full of stupidity, and so is this video. Enjoy! =DLand of the Beastresorigins2010-10-15 | Footage from my trip to Montreal. I spent the last half year filming pieces of it, because in a week from now I'll be living someplace new. So it's sort of a mark of what I was able to accomplish here since I started parkour over 5 years ago. A lot of the training in my neighborhood was always done alone, and there are still a few challenges left unfinished. When I'm stronger I'll come back and finish them.
Music: Atmosphere - Always Coming Back Home to YouDEADLIFT 375#resorigins2009-12-23 | Haven't done deadlifts in almost a year. My main lower body lift has been box squats for this time. I haven't put up any conditioning or strength training footage in awhile, because I've been toying with some program changes and not all of the results have been stellar. I'll be restarting a strenght phase using Jim Wendler's 5/3/1 for about a month, and test a couple of my 1RM after.
Today, after a box jump workout, hitting a few 50" jumps, I decided to test my 1RM for Deadlift. To my surprise I got a 10# PR! Form wasn't great, not enough glute activation, and I extended my legs too much too early. With some technical fixes and high rep practice I should be able to lock out 400# after 4 weeks of 5/3/1. So stay tuned for that... also still at a body weight of 165#B-TOWN TRAININGresorigins2009-10-05 | Parkour & Freerunning training in Burnaby PKBC / Vancouver ParkourThe Real Life 300 (a camera phone adventure...)resorigins2009-08-25 | I had to upload something to thank all 300 people that subscribed to my channel.
