Graygarden Totally Vanilla Settlement Tour Part 3: Earthbound (No Mods)
updated
I loved the concept I had, but the bugs in the update made certain things untenable, like having seats in the pilot's lounge. I referred to those as "auto-eject" chairs, because you'd quickly find yourself in deep space, if you dared to sit down!
So, once I had the patches, I went to work on an updated version.
Strangely, although the Corvette Workshop told me I had used 100 parts in the original build, after the patches, it told me I had only used 98 parts, so I was able to add two "prongs" at the front of the corvette, which I thought really added to the ship's panache, its pirate flair.
In the original video, I mentioned how I'd made a mistake by adding windows to the rear, because the exhaust vents clipped through the window's seating... but now, not only have I corrected that problem, I turned it into an asset! (See this new video for details!)
Thank you all for watching, and thanks to everyone at GoodGuysFree! for going above and beyond in allowing me to participate in their contest, despite me being incapable of playing in multiplayer! You are the best, S-Class, 110%!
@goodguysfree
I wasn't trying to recreate any particular design, I prefer originality. But I did want a pirate ship theme, so I went with it, using the right habs and decor to outfit the ship inside and out with "piratical" stuff.
Despite making a better video tour with the updated Mk5 version, I decided to leave this video up for any one who wants to see both versions, and the improvements I made. (I am working on that tour as I write, hope to have it posted by Saturday. Thanks for your patience!)
I cannot imagine how no other players have noticed this before, except that most of them are not PS4 gamers, so it's likely this is only a PS4 issue.
That said, this is a terrible flaw and it means this Update is seriously broken- at least for PS4 gamers. I will not be bothering to collect hundreds of parts, if this bullshit is not fixed.
We've already had one patch already, but that clearly didn't fix the chair bug (you fall straight through the floors and into deep space outside the space station), and PS4 had to wait for that, so how long before they fix this mess?
Not a happy explorer!
Why make your Freighter plain and uninteresting!? Dress up your save points as working objects! I used a giant spark plug, robot arms and the save point carefully merged with free placement to make the display.
Thanks for watching and hope you enjoyed the tip!
This base is also the planet's Harmonic Camp. Each Dissonant world has one camp, where you can access an Interface and discover the location of a crashed Sentinel ship. On this planet, fungal hellworld Abydositox, the ship is the Hornet Queen. I had to upgrade this base, once I got the new Ruins set pieces. This video is only the beginning of my additions to the Camp. I have built several fun challenges already for visitors to enjoy, including a treasure hunt. Stay tuned!

I've had a frustrating weekend, being sick and losing my home PC. But I haven't let it get me down- I can still edit video on my work machine and even on my phone, if the clip's short enough.

It's not large or elaborate, but it suits my needs... And it's not really in orbit, but a "cloud city" floating in the tropopause region of the upper atmosphere. And it doesn't "orbit" the moon, it floats over one spot, so let's say it's in geo-synchronous orbit!
All of what you see here is thanks to another YouTuber, my mentor @Beeblebum who taught me how to build orbiting bases with very well made how-to videos on his channel. Thanks, Beeblebum!

The only mod I have installed that changes the gameplay here is Expanded Werewolf Perks. It adds +40 damage to my Unarmed Rating, making fist fighting far easier.
I don't recommend this method of ending the Quest- because the minimal reward you get from Thonar Silver-Blood is far exceeded by the reward you get for helping Madanach and his Forsworn! (Though as a Nord, you have to take a little crap from him in the form of extra dialog.) For helping him, you'll get a complete set of leveled, enchanted Forsworn armor, the Armor of the Old Gods. You'll also get a free bed in their encampment at Druadach Redoubt, and they'll stay friendly to you. (Not all Forsworn, just those at Druadach.)
If you go the route shown in the clip (killing all the Forsworn), you'll get a Silver-Blood Family heirloom worth about 500 gold! (I'll pass on that.)

In this series, I will detail the player home mods I'm using and give them a rating, based on lore-compatibility, utility/usefulness, character/creativity and originality. I'm looking for small, unique homes suited for my hunter/archer build, and this one certainly qualifies there! The top possible rating is 5 out of 5 Nord Hero Greatswords. Any flaws that lessen utility will subtract from the top rating.
I'm also using a number of game enhancing mods, including ones I mention in this video, AI Overhaul and Immersive Citizens. Each of these enhances the autonomy of NPCs, giving them more range and more realistic interactions. Sadly, it may be why this mod is less useful.
I'm also using Campfire, Expanded Werewolf Perks, and Echoes of the Vale, all "flavor" mods which enhance the original game rather than overhaul it completely. My whole mod list is about forty mods. I'm using no texture mods at all, just the stuff that came with the updated Skyrim SE. I don't even own the new Anniversary Edition.
Turned out he's only mostly dead, he could still talk, but not move.
But like most undead, healing had no effect. Reloading an earlier save did.
In this first episode, I will show you the Hunter's Treehouse mod in all its glory. I will also show the mini-quest which is included, so if you don't want to be spoiled, please stop watching when you see the warning onscreen.
Thanks for watching!

This Special is more than just a tour, it's my collaboration with my friend and fellow YouTuber @GameTownWalk-thru who provided the singing voice for Piper, a favor very much appreciated by me. I think you'll enjoy. Our duet begins at timestamp 6:43.
There's more to this settlement than I was able to show you in this episode, so stay tuned for more excerpts after the holidays!

I got a lot of shots here showing off Alduin's battle prowess, and I thought you might want a peek. Otherwise, there's nothing here you haven't all seen already.
First, go to the Stormcloak Camp that overlooks Orphan Rock, the home of the Hagraven (and her coven of witches).
Second, spot the Hagraven far away in front of her tent.
Third, shoot the foul creature with your best bow. Mine is an Orcish bow enchanted with Fire damage, but I'm only 15th level and the enchantment isn't very strong! (It is smithed to Epic quality.)
Fourth, take out any witches and collect Nettlebane!
This build requires the prerequisite DLCs- Wasteland Workshop, etc - for the pillars needed to pillar-glitch the lights, at the minimum. An interval switch and a NAND logic gate are also required, to build my working light.
My Kingsport is at last complete, fully detailed from top to bottom, from the light to the dock, and I intend to release a full tour video before Christmas. It will be at least 30 minutes long to show everything. I hope you'll like it. Totally Vanilla, of course!

Kingsport Bar Glitch Solution

Fallout 4 players have long been irritated by the glitches Bethesda ignores and refuses to remove. Thankfully, there's a simple, mod-free solution to get around the closed bar, and this clip shows you exactly how to use it.
This works on PlayStation 4 consoles, but I haven't tried it on Xbox or PC, so I can't say for certain if it works on those platforms. If anyone watching who plays on those could let me know whether or not it works, I would appreciate it. Thanks!

As a novice player of No Man's Sky, I have not had the opportunity before to look for an Interceptor, but I was very happy with the first ship I found. I understand they are all distinctly different, and you can farm them for the models you prefer. I haven't followed the main story enough to even have Glyphs yet, so I have to salvage them the hard way, locally. But the technique yielded excellent results here. Hope you enjoy the tutorial!
Edited to add: I forgot to mention in the video that I left both a save beacon and a signal booster at the crash site. I realize now that the crash site itself is irrelevant- you don't just go to it and presto, there's another ship. But at the time, I hadn't read the Echo Locator stuff and didn't understand the technique. As of today, I've already spawned a second Hornet myself, finding a second crash with an Echo Locator. Hope this works for you!

This is just the beginning of my NMS adventure, and my first underwater base. (I'm only 235 hours in!) I hope to release more videos from No Man's Sky soon. You will get to see my friendly sandragons! All construction at Soltapi Isle provided by the ancient Corallanians, who excreted the coral castle and temple millennia ago...

This took months of careful engineering, and I only recently went back to it and upgraded the Tesla Arc traps, so I can easily repair them after they're used, without pulling them down from the ceiling and re-glitching them back up.

Planet D'Homr gets "superheated thunderstorms" (temps = 218*F) so it's not truly a perfect paradise world, but it's pretty nice otherwise. At least, the wind isn't strong enough to blow you into a cliff wall at hurricane speeds! (That happened on another very frigid planet!) Normally, the temp ranges from 69*F at night to 90*F during the day. The planet features shallow seas, glowing grasses, and giant fungi that pulse with light at night.
Hope you enjoy the tour and thanks for watching!
In this episode, you get a detailed look at the main bulk of the settlement, front entry and back. I made the vanilla shack into a vendor and you'll never guess what kind. The Haunted Half has a new overlook apartment to view art and garden. It all looks good, like only a post Apocalyptic art gallery decorated for Christmas can!
Thanks for watching!
It's such a shame the build limit isn't just a little taller, the roof-scape is excellent. But even so, I managed to make a one way path into the settlement.
Thanks for watching!
I only recently discovered this function had been added. Open the options tab while playing the game to access your installed content.
The rules for the contest are simple: one guess per person, the first three correct guesses get a special mention in an upcoming video.
This will be fairly tough, as there is no compass to clue one in. But there are clues! And remember, it's one of my Settlements, not a player home or add-on. Also, it's a settlement I haven't done a tour for yet. And it's not a Far Harbor- I have the DLC, but I haven't gone there yet. Good luck!
Thanks for watching!

Meaning I don't trash everything that's there, and use dozens of mods to build a magnificent structure very much at odds with the setting. I can admire the achievement, but it's not how I game. I don't use mods at all.
I play this game "realistically" as possible. I build as if I really was the Minuteman General trying to rebuild civilization from literal scrap. So, every Settlement is believable, every Settlement has food, water and defenses, not necessarily every comfort... and every Settlement with a big enough tree gets a treehouse! (Too bad the kids will never go up in them!)
I have slowly built up all my Settlements from nothing, adding a bit here and there, until I have a small town with complete walls, adequate defenses, food, water, shelter and beds. I always attempt to build walls, if merely for the human psychological need. Face it, what would settlers prefer? A place without walls? Or with?
I don't believe it's mere roleplay, though, for walls serve a tactical advantage, because it forces enemies to assault your gates. This frees you from having to patrol/fortify the whole unenclosed region. Again, if you mod, this isn't as much of a concern.
At the final stage, I furnish and decorate with the extras. I try to put a unique feature in every place, but County Crossing is one that now sits on the raw edge of a yellow settlement limit, so it's where I call it quits and say it's done. I may delete and add something later, but this one is ready for an audience.
Totally Vanilla Gaming never uses a single mod- only add-ons and DLCs. What you see here uses a broad mix from all of my installed content, but it's almost all standard- I think there's one painting and two posters from Home Decor and a Nuka Quantum bed from Nuka Cola Collector.
Thanks so much for watching and I hope you enjoy the show.

And thanks to all of you who played the game, with a very special congratulations to my three winners, and the two honorable mentions! The winners will get a spot on the Totally Vanilla Champions board in my upcoming Settlement tour video.
I am busy with tidying up final touches to several Settlements, among them; Murkwater, Nordhagen, County Crossing, and the Slog. I'm not entirely sure which one to present first, so if you have a preference, leave a comment. Thanks as always, and hope you have a great week!
Your objective is simple: Guess the Settlement where I am.
No worries about player homes or DLC settlements- this is one of the vanilla settlements. Leave a comment with your correct guess and you may win! First three correct contestants will get a custom shout-out on my channel with their names in lights on my Leaderboard!
Fair warning: this contest will be challenging. There are no easy clues (on the compass, for example).
Best of luck to all involved!

Totally Vanilla Gaming uses no mods whatsoever- everything you see on my channel is accomplished via the build menu exploits, such as the rug, pillar, and wire glitches. I also have no problem with "paid mods" aka the Creation Club add-ons, in my book, they're mini-dlcs, not paid mods. Obviously, to demonstrate this effect, I have to use VR Workshop at least! The restaurant build uses several CC add-ons, as well as the Vault Tec DLC soda fountain.
I hope you enjoy this look at my Ghoultown build, and as always, thanks for watching!
Always Happy

Totally Vanilla Gaming uses no mods in any of its builds; everything you see was accomplished via exploits in the game build menu, such as the notorious Rug, Pillar and Wire glitches.
That being said, I do use Creation Club add-ons; to me they are official mini-DLCs, not paid mods. But if you are a Fallout player who believes "vanilla" means no Creation Club content as well as no mods, I'm sure there is a struggling "base game" channel out there for you!
On my channel, vanilla includes all official add-ons, and CC content is official. You may not agree, but since you don't own the rights, you don't get to decide. Bethesda owns it, they decided. I'm quite sure that you would feel the same, were we discussing _your_ intellectual property!
I have all DLCs, plus a LOT of CC content, and sometimes it's hard to recall what items came from which add-on, but here's a list of all the Creation Club add-ons used in this build.
Neon Flats (required)
Arcade Cabinets
Holiday Special
VR Workshop
Home Decor
Nuka Cola Collector
and a fair bit of Nuka World Galactic Zone items!
I'm giving a big thumbs up to the authors of this mod, Tom Seddon and Kris Takahashi. This is a great add-on and addition to my Fallout 4 game. A player home in Goodneighbor, with working windows! Excellent job with that special effect, thank you, I really appreciate the work you put into this.
I'd also like to recognize the authors of my other CC content, who have provided my game with some very nice custom items. Elianora, Rob Vogel and Jose McCallum all have excellent content. I particularly like the Solar Cannon and the Nuka Cola Collector, but I couldn't play Fallout without Vogel's VR Workshop. Thanks for giving me four enormous sandboxes!
Enjoy the tour, and thanks for watching!
Totally Vanilla Gaming presents Fallout 4 builds made without any mods; all you see here was accomplished via the game's exploits- the infamous Rug, Pillar and Wire glitches. I don't have a single mod installed on my PS4. And while I began playing completely base game, I now have all the DLCs, and a fair amount of Creation Club add-ons. But in this clip, none of that is visible. My character is standing on the ruined overpass SW of Jamaica Plain.

Working for years WITHOUT ANY MODS, like Place Anywhere... I have learned to work with this problem, and occasionally, I can make it work for me. In this case, I just wanted a cover for this power cable hole at Vault 88. It's nothing major, just one of my decorative finishing touches, but I hope you can use the technique in your own settlements.
Gettin' the Drop On Rug Glitching

Once a safehouse for Institute Renegades, this iconic edifice is now a secret Railroad HQ. In Part 1, you will tour the first two floors: the Lobby and the Apartment. Part 2 will detail the third floor.
Keith Savage speaks:
As the "mastermind" behind this channel, I design Fallout 4 builds totally _without_ mods. Everything I built here was accomplished via exploits in the game Workshop Mode, namely, the rug, pillar and wire glitches. You'll see evidence of all three in the video, if you look close. I try to keep the "seams" under cover, but in some cases I deliberately show them off. Here I demonstrate how I made the non-working speaker provided with the add-on tune into Diamond City Radio.
That said, I need to mention something: some Fallout gamers believe Creation Club add-ons are "paid mods" and tend to turn their noses up at any of my builds that use these add-ons. If this is you, I will simply apologize and say there are other channels on YouTube for you.
My channel is mainly for those gamers who like the challenge of building without mods, real mods.
Since I can hardly do a tour of a player home add-on without having that add-on, I can't imagine that most Fallout players would denounce me for using a "paid mod." I use no mods at all, just the CC content. (Three CC add-ons were actually used: Neon Flats, Nuka Cola Workshop, and a bit of lighting from Holiday Special.)
Speaking of which, I got this "paid mod" when it was on sale for 50% off, meaning I paid US $2.50 for it. And buddy, if you're complaining about paying that... I'm laughing my a** off at you!
I absolutely love this add-on, and think it's well worth the $2.50, and I certainly don't mind compensating the creator, Mr. Tom Seddon. Thanks, Tom, for going the extra miles to create such a great player home! Five out of five Deathclaw hands to you!

Like all my builds, there's no mods used in this clip... no actual mods. The debate over Creation Club content is a dead issue for me- CC content is a licensed add-on, not a mod.
It would be pretty hard to do a clip involving the VR locations, without having any CC content.
Copyrighted 2024 by Keith Savage
Totally Vanilla Gaming uses not one mod on a Playstation 4 to build in Fallout 4. Everything is accomplished through the use of exploits in the game.
I do use Creation Club add-ons occasionally, but I always indicate when they are used. In this video, there's nothing from a CC add-on that appears on camera, though I did use some Nuka Cola Workshop items at Taffington.
I still haven't been able to identify the species, but it's a remorhaz, a giant flying IceWyrm! Nice.
Hope you enjoy, and thanks for watching!
As per usual, I have played the original game first, mainly due to circumstances, not by design. (I was given an old disk copy, but I quickly upgraded to a downloaded new version.) In NMS, unlike Fallout 4, I was able to get all of the updates rather quickly, and try both versions side-by-side. While the gameplay of the original wasn't bad, the graphics were. But no longer!
The upgrades to this game vastly improve it, both in gameplay and graphics. I am really liking it, overall. I think the building aspect is superb, can't wait to see what I can build!
Hope you enjoy, and thanks for watching!
