I wrote this backing track yesterday when returning from a gig. This morning I came to my studio, I thought I had a guitar lesson. I got the day wrong. As I had dragged myself to the studio 7.30 am I thought let's jam! Here's a morning fresh jam. No plans, only checked to key and hit the record. Good vibes to all of you. I'm about to start summer vacation soon, so I wish you all a great summer at this point! Just about time to WAX OFF!

Level up your playing while you learn a cool Mr. Fastfinger track Waterlike. This slightly more relaxed tune, truely enjoyable song to play. This song is an example of wholistic guitar playing. You don't need to just play melody or just chords, you can play 'em both simultaneously. One guitar part does it all. Playing like this is very rewarding!

Acoustic guitar I play here is Yamaha – LL16 . A fine, non expensive guitar that I've used for all the steel string guitar parts on all my records. For the middle part it's all Ruokangas Aeon ofcourse.

Hope you enjoy this complitely different side of our music. Lasse and Thomas footage is from the recording takes. Some of the guitars parts are from the actual recording takes, some were filmed right after the guitar were recorded.

I never could have even dreamed of such. Teenage me was in total awe when I was listening to "Above, Below and Beyond" on my headphones back in 1992. The creativity she has in all her playing and music was and is on another level. Collaborating with her has been super inspiring. Damn, everytime I hear her playing on "Mammoth Steps", I'm all smile!
And yes, I am aware it's not an actual mammuth appearing on this video. Our video budget was limited and we had to settle for an elephant.

Mr. Fastfinger - Mika Tyyskä 2023-02-16 | Simple yet very effective and enjoyable fretboard game. Connecting all the octaves and places will help you jump around the fretboard lated on. I believe this can be useful for just about any level of guitar players. The more better you become, the more complex you can go. The key is anyways to start slow and easy. And visualisation. Once you start playing with this, you start to see how things connect.

This composition is based on Magic Carpet Tour - 2007 game. The game was created for the Guitar Shred Show - guitar game website that was originally was where Mr. Fastfinger appeared. Magic Carpet Tour -game had 7 levels, each level was about one mode of a major scale. "Flight Mode" tune is based on the level which was presenting Lydian mode. Mr. Fastfinger's guitar parts are based on the licks of the original game. Due to some key changes added to this new arrangement, original guitar parts had to be re-recorded. It took 16 years to finish this tune, but here it is!!!

On our new upcoming albums "Flight Mode" and "Tremors" a lot of the material was captured as a band. Especially Drums and Bass real lock in when playing together. The energy and interaction of playing together!
Sometimes I would keep some of the guitar. sometimes I would re-record absolutely everything later.
With this tune "Band Salat" I kept a good amount of the guitars from the live take.
The trio footage here is the actual take. In parts where you see close up video of guitar, you know this part was overdubbed there! Well also the finger snaps were overdubbed :)

For Drums and anything that required micing we used the Lewitt Beat Kit Pro -Kit of microphones. Bass is straight DI. For guitar I use the best of best: Two Notes C.A.B. M. for cabinet and micing simulation. it madr the whole production flow a dream. The central of our band is the blue cube, Soundcraft Ui24r where everything is connected for ear monitoring and multitrack capturing.

This is an out take from the Album Pre-Order video. It was deleted to keep things more tight with that video. Maybe you find it interesting or entertaining.

Dorian mode with moving pentatonics - Improvisation concepts - Animated Licks of Mika Tyyskä E27

Power Lick - Alternated picking into bend - Animated Licks of Mika Tyyskä E25

Mr. Fastfinger - Mika Tyyskä 2022-08-17 | Bending along is fine, but using it in real action is another thing. This lick prepares you to join alternate picking and bending. Practicing this prepares you to bend notes in the middle of action!

This exercise will make you sound better - Animated LIcks of Mika Tyyskä E24

Mr. Fastfinger - Mika Tyyskä 2022-08-11 | This exercise is a good test. No matter what style of music you play. If you can't do it clean, you need to start practicing. Bending is considered a basic technique, but you might find this exercise not that easy at all. Starting from the basic idea, look for the more advanced variation around 3:35.
Backing track jam starts at 5:53 . First practice without the track and really listen. Once you get it down try the backing track to make it more fun and musical.

My favourite fast lick from 1994 - Animated Licks of Mika Tyyskä E23

Mr. Fastfinger - Mika Tyyskä 2022-08-03 | This was one of my favourite licks / moves on the guitar around mid 90's. It's easy to perform yet it sounds great and musical too. It's basically just 4 notes so it's easy to get behind this.

3 ways of Terrifying Shred Lick - a true trial by fire! - Animated Licks of Mika Tyyskä E22

Mr. Fastfinger - Mika Tyyskä 2022-06-30 | A great alternate picking line and excercise. Full shred but also musical. I designed this to be logical picking wise: each string change starts with down picking. Lick has both 4 and 6 note groupings built in. The leads us to a lot of fun.. Let's look at 3 ways you want to be able to play this. It's a beefy lesson, hope it keeps you busy for a moment. Summer break ahead, see you in August!
In the end of the video, there's the rhythm maching looping so you can try practicing along with it!

Sails of Charon guitar solo influenced guitar hero's like Marty Friedman, Yngwie Malmsteen and Paul Gilbert. Here look at the pattern found form one of the licks in his Scorpions solo. A very logical, simple design that let's you flow across the strings!

Master the Shuffle Lick of Puppets - Animated Licks of Mika Tyyskä E19

Mr. Fastfinger - Mika Tyyskä 2022-06-15 | Here's a fun combo lick to go with double kick shuffle groove. The second half of almost straight from Metallica's Master of Puppets guitar solo by Kirk Hammett. It's definetly my favourite lick from Metallica. Obey the picking directions!!!

Burning intense shuffle boogie lick - Animated Licks of Mika Tyyskä E18

Wide Intervallic Legato Sequencing - Animated licks of Mika Tyyskä E17

Mr. Fastfinger - Mika Tyyskä 2022-05-25 | Gain some horizontal power with this legendary, classic Steve Stevens lick.
S. Stevens is one of my absolute favourite guitarists and musicians. Hope you enjoy this little tribute! In this video you'll learn several variations of the licks and how you can take it forward. It's a good excercise to become better at moving horizontally on fretboard too. All examples here are in E minor.

2 of the first Steve Stevens lick variations were based on these:
