Borgarfjörður is a large fjord and surrounding region in West Iceland, located about 75 km north of Reykjavík. The area is known for its wide glacial valleys, extensive lava fields, powerful rivers, and strong historical ties to Iceland’s settlement period.

LIVE 15.11.25 Exploring around Snæfellsnes (part 2)

Isak Finnbogason - ICELAND FPV 2025-11-15 | Over the past years there has been an increase in seismic activity around the lake Grjótárvatn, located within the Ljósufjöll volcanic system. The last eruption there occurred around 1000 years ago but who knows, we might see an eruption in the area in the coming years. Until then, I want to explore and document the area around the youngest lava fields.

Kleifarvatn Underwater Geothernal Activity, May 2025

Kleifarvatn lake is one of the most interesting and mysterious lakes in Iceland, constantly changing and with a beautiful geothermal area. Recently, we did a live drone stream using an underwater drone (ROV) to explore Kleifarvatn Lake below the surface. Here are a couple of highlight moments from that live stream.

The footage has been slowed down 4x and color graded to enhance the viewing experience, the sounds are not original, they were added during the editing process.

I want to mesure it and see how hot the crack and surroundings are. We will also be exploring Sundhnúksgígar, and the surrounding lava fields, where the next eruption might be just around the corner. This is the area that everyone is watching with anticipation. The area has already erupted 7 times since December 2023, with the last eruption ending on December 8th 2024.

Polar Stratospheric Clouds in Iceland

Isak Finnbogason - ICELAND FPV 2024-12-23 | Around noon, the clouds opened up, revealing the most amazing Polar stratospheric clouds! Even tho there were super strong winds, I managed to put the drone up and capture a few clips before these amazing clouds were gone.

The clip at 2:10 is shown at 20x speed so that you can see the movements of the Polar Stratospheric Clouds.

More information about these clouds:

Polar Stratospheric Clouds (PSCs), or nacreous clouds, are rare, colorful clouds found in the polar regions during winter. They form in the stratosphere at altitudes of 15–25 km when temperatures drop below -78°C. Composed of ice and nitric acid, PSCs display iridescent hues like pink, green, and violet. They contribute to ozone depletion by enabling chemical reactions that destroy ozone molecules. Best seen in Arctic and Antarctic skies, they are visible just before sunrise or after sunset under clear, cold conditions.
