We're excited to be more proximate to the work and residents we support.
We are proud to be working with JCJ architecture, a firm that was founded here in Hartford and has been headquartered in our capital city for nearly 90 years.
We're currently in the pre-design phase, and our vision for this building is much broader than simply to house as our staff.
This will be a true community asset where we can gather nonprofit partners, donors, policy makers, and residents to work together to craft long lasting solutions for our community. We hope this area will serve as a gateway between downtown and Hartford's North End.
We are planning to break ground in early 2026 with an eye toward moving into our new home in 2028.The Open Hearth Stories - FredGreater Hartford Gives2025-12-01 | ...The Power of Local Giving - Social Media Clips 2Greater Hartford Gives2025-11-21 | ...The Power of Local Giving - Social Media Clips 1Greater Hartford Gives2025-11-21 | Social Media Clips 1The Power of Local Giving in GlastonburyGreater Hartford Gives2025-11-21 | Glastonbury Greater Together Community Fund Extended VideoBoard Leadership Program Session 2Greater Hartford Gives2025-11-20 | ...NSP Workshop - Are We There Yet?Greater Hartford Gives2025-11-20 | A Guide to Developing a Theory of Change to Help Plan and Evaluate Your ProgramsHartford Promise Induction CeremonyGreater Hartford Gives2025-11-20 | Hartford Promise’s Induction Ceremony for the Class of 2025 was a powerful celebration of the hard work and dedication shown by our scholars and their families throughout their high school journey. And yet, creativity remains. Holding us steady, teaching us to see ourselves as beloved, to tell and retell our experiences until they are whole.
For a century, the Hartford Foundation has carried this work forward with our partners, building and strengthening the region’s cultural roots. From the largest stages to the smallest community rooms, we have invested in the artists, the makers, and the administrators.
We believe inclusion must move through every vein of this ecosystem. Through the hands that create, the programs that spark wonder, and the organizations that lead. Because art is not just performance. It is memory, identity, and possibility.
All woven into the future we are building together.

The Foundation seeded each fund with $100,000 for a total initial investment of $2.9 million. With the Foundation's support, residents of each town make decisions about how money from their funds is spent.
The Greater Together Community Funds is one of the largest participatory grantmaking programs ever created. The idea came from a Listening Tour that the Foundation held in 2018. After visiting each of our 29 towns and hearing from residents, we realized that the people in each town understood the challenges facing their town better than anyone, but lack the resources to make positive change. By giving town residents the resources to make grants, we can put the power in the hands of those closest to the issues.
This video celebrates the 5-year anniversary of the Greater Together Community Funds by looking back at its inception, from the Listening Tour, to the launch of the funds, to the present state of the program, and what's in store for the future. It was shown at a series of events honoring the Funds' anniversary.

A creative force and cornerstone of the arts community, Tao was cherished for his generosity, spirit, and commitment to helping others thrive. His absence left a profound void in Amy's life and among countless artists and community members who were touched by his kindness and vision.
Amid her grief, Amy took action to honor Tao’s legacy and help heal the community. She established the Tao LaBossiere Artist Fund at the Hartford Foundation for Public Giving to continue his work of uplifting and supporting fellow artists. The fund will support causes closest to Tao’s heart and the values he championed—creativity, collaboration, and the transformative power of art.
We created this video tribute to Tao in December 2024.

In 2023, the Hartford Foundation awarded a $150,000 grant to support their Critical Home Repair program. This program focuses on emergency needs such as wheelchair ramps, shower grab bars, heat and hot water access, and other updates that allow residents to age safely and comfortably in their homes.
Not only are these repairs critical to a homeowner's livelihood, but they also serve a broader purpose of revitalizing neighborhoods, reducing blight, increasing social cohesion, and promoting intergenerational wealth. Supporting this work helps advance the Foundation's goal of increasing the number of Higher Opportunity Neighborhoods in Hartford.
On the last Saturday of every April, inspired by America’s barn-raising tradition, volunteers come together in cities across the country for National Rebuilding Day. This year, led by Rebuilding Together Hartford, local volunteers worked on 13 houses in Hartford's Blue Hills neighborhood, assisting with home repairs, cleanups, landscaping, construction projects, and more.
We joined Rebuilding Together Hartford staff and volunteers on National Rebuilding Day for a fun and inspiring day of home repairs. Homeowners told us about the challenges they faced, and how this assistance changed their lives and renewed their faith in our community.
