This loop can collect almost 500 AP for a materia linked to AP Up and placed on the Chocobo Armband, with other big gains using AP Up on other equipment, in under five minutes with no cooldown time between loops.Square Soft on Playstation Collectors Video 1997 (Reupload)cavesofnarshe2023-01-20 | This is a digital copy of a VHS video sent to members of the Playstation Underground in mid-1997, around the time of the Final Fantasy VII release. The video is primarily a promotion for Sony, who at the time was still not a dominant console gaming force; the purpose of this video was to promote Squaresoft's PSX games and explain why Square made the jump from Nintendo to Sony. Allegedly, there are not many of these tapes in existence, with only 1500 copies created [citation needed]. I got my copy in 1998 or so, and no, I will not sell it to you. :)
This first portion of the video contains an introductory promotional movie for Squaresoft and Sony, and jumps into an interview with Hironobu Sakaguchi, Producer of the now-legendary game Final Fantasy VII. The interview focuses on the technological capabilities of the Sony Playstation and how the Square team, by then riding an unprecedented wave of popularity, utilized the capabilities to produce a Final Fantasy larger in scope than any of the six that game previously. The interview has English voiceover translation and is liberally cut with game footage.
The middle portion of the video continues the interviews from part one regarding the development of Final Fantasy VII; in this installment, the interviewees include Nobuo Uematsu and other Final Fantasy VII development team members speaking of their roles in the game development and the qualities that made the original Sony Playstation their choice for a development environment. The interviews have English voiceover translation and are liberally cut with game footage.
The final portion of the video switches format to a variety of promotional videos for then-new Squaresoft games for the Playstation (and is, incidentally, the real reason I bought the video in the first place). It includes promotional videos for Final Fantasy Tactics, released in January of 1998, as well as the the late 1997 release Bushido Blade and SaGa Frontier . The video concludes with a string of English television adverts for Final Fantasy VII.
This is a reupload of the original video from our channel, made before the ancient ten-minute limitation on videos was lifted. The video is now recut and the audio channels fixed from the original upload.Final Fantasy VI Pixel Remaster - Removing Setzer, Celes, Edgar...cavesofnarshe2022-07-12 | A modified save file removes the three must-have characters from the World of Ruin. VOD from the original CoN stream at twitch.tv/cavesofnarsheAvenging the Endgame: Show the Newbie WotL Part 19cavesofnarshe2020-02-09 | It's time, friends (and haters) of our Final Fantasy Tactics Newbie stream - we've reached the end. First, though, we'll show the Onion Knight in action for the first time, as this job was added to War of the Lions exclusively and many players have never seen it, or its best equipment.
After that brief interlude, it's time to travel back to a place we've been a number of times - Orbonne Monastery. We encounter a number of old foes in new battle locales as we dig deeper and deeper beneath the Monastery in pursuit of Formarv and Alma, and to unlock the true secrets of the Zodiac Braves.
We hope you enjoyed our stream of War of the Lions, please stay tuned for future streams!
Battles: Balias Swale Monastery Vaults - Fourth Level Monsatery Vaults - Fifth Level Mullonde Necrohol Lost Halidom Airship GraveyardHello Zodiark: Show the Newbie WotL Part 18cavesofnarshe2019-03-25 | It's time to finish up Midlight's Deep. The dungeon has been all but completely looted, and there's an auracite in that there Terminus. We'll take a few runs at it so we can see and survive Zodiark, and then DP can check out a couple job classes that are late-game unlocks for completion's sake. We're coming up on the very end, don't forget to follow us on Twitch for a chance to win a small prize. :)
Battles: Terminus Zeirchile Falls (random battle to see some jobs!)The Creeps of Lionel: Show the Newbie WotL Part 17cavesofnarshe2019-03-19 | Finally back on to the main stream, we catch the newbie up with the new battles added for War of the Lions in Lionel Castle, with new plot that puts a coda on the story of Beowulf and Reis. It's a bizarre story, to be sure. After that, it's Death Penalty's first foray into Midlight's Deep, in which he learns how the dungeon works and we get to collect two rare guns.
At the end, we bandy about the idea of doing a fun perler bead giveaway for our last FFT newbie stream, which will be quite soon. Follow us on Twitch if you might be interested!
Battles: Lionel Castle Gate Inside Lionel Castle The CrevasseDriving Down the Enemy: Show the Newbie WotL Part 16cavesofnarshe2019-02-13 | Having purged two more Lucavi in the last stream, Ramza now turns toward the seat of the Church of Glabados, Mullonde. Having been informed that Mullonde is where Alma is being held, we prepare an assault on its chapel and negotiate with the Templarate for her release, only to find ourselves tricked into giving up the Scriptures of Germonique for nothing but the requirement to kill one near to us in order to escape with our lives.
Once done, the party crosses the map a few times to unlock the final few sidequests, as we didn't adequately prepare for that eventuality before this week's stream; in so doing, though, there's a new scene for the War of the Lions version that foreshadows the game's ending, and a new battle in which we attempt to steal a number of good rare items.
Battles: Mullonde Cathedral Mullonde Cathedral Nave Mullonde Cathedral Sanctuary Brigand's DenA Feast of Lucavi: Show the Newbie WotL Part 16cavesofnarshe2019-02-06 | Off of the sidequests for the time being, because we've mainly run out of them to do. It's time to take another stab at the Marquis Elmdore and his creepy ladyfriends. This time we don't wipe after all, and we collect Ultima, so we then continue to pick up another gamebreaking character and get to take a very long trip across the map. This episode also contains two War of the Lions-exclusive battles and multiple Lucavi!
Battles: Limberry Castle Keep Limberry Castle Inner Court Limberry Castle Undercroft Dorter (Street) Eagrose Castle KeepBack to Assassinville: Show the Newbie WotL Part 15cavesofnarshe2019-02-02 | It's been a while since we've done anything plot-wise, so this time we go back that direction and take our Newbie to Limberry Castle to deal with the next big bad, encountering Celia and Lettie again, as well as their pet Reavers, on the way. Unfortunately, once we get inside, he wipes us and we don't get Ultima that time around anyway. We'll have to try again in the next stream. :)

Battles: Mount Germinas Lake Poescas Limberry Castle Gate Limberry Castle KeepMateria and Sky Piracy: Show the Newbie WotL Part 14cavesofnarshe2019-01-30 | We're wrapping up the sidequests (for now) in Chapter Four by picking up one character from the original version of the game and one character new to War of the Lions. In this part, we go back to reap the rewards of our earlier flower purchase, as Cloud has run off to Sal Ghidos from where we first encountered him in Goug. How he managed to get there without any equipment or training in his new world, we have no idea, but we will take him under our wing and go get him his Materia Blade.
After that, it's time to head back to Dorter to get another cool animated cutscene and another refugee from elsewhere in Ivalice, this time Balthier. He comes with the WotL-only gun, the Ras Algethi, which is a great pickup even if you don't want the Sky Pirate around. Then it's back to Sal Ghidos again to pick up the plot.

This sidequest gives us a much deeper look at what Ivalice must have looked like during its golden age of technology, as we meet another Construct that protects what appears to be an advanced research lab. After some trial and error, we manage to collect both of the rarest items from the field and win back the stone, creating a drastic change for Beowulf and Reis and unlocking yet more sidequests.
Battles: Nelveska TempleGoing Sidequesting: Show the Newbie WotL Part 12cavesofnarshe2018-12-25 | With the plot about to come fast and heavy as Ramza and his cohort approach the end of the Lion War, we take a detour to start some of the big sidequests. In this episode, we use the magic of multiple save files to quickly collect the treasure for Agrias' birthday, as well as picking up Beowulf, Reis and Construct 8 and unlocking Nelveska Island to tackle for the next episode.

In this hidden scene from Final Fantasy Tactics (exclusive to the War of the Lions edition), Alicia and Lavian have let slip to Mustadio that Agrias is about to turn a year older, and he takes it upon himself to spend a boatload of money from the party's war chest to buy her a rare gift. In return, he gets told that Agrias only likes him as a friend, apparently.
After this scene, the party gets to keep the female-only Tynar Rouge accessory. To unlock the scene, you must have Agrias, Mustadio, Alicia and Lavian in the party, 500,000 Gil, and land on a town with a tavern on 1 Cancer in the in-game calendar.Break the Game, Cid: Show the Newbie WotL Part 11cavesofnarshe2018-12-24 | Again, some stream sound issues, unfortunately; the first portion of the stream lacked game sounds and the commentary of our designated Newbie.
The time has come to make the game altogether too easy by raiding Fort Besselat and recruiting the Thunder God himself. On the way there, there's fallout from Barich's deadly mossfungus, and a number of quick-turn betrayals behind Ramza's scenes; for us, though, there's a really good chance to drown Luso and some good chances to do some crystal, treasure, and poach farming. We even buy a flower from a very familiar-looking salesgirl, preparing us for the next stream in which we take a break from the plot and go sidequesting.
Battles: Fort Besselat, South Wall Fort Besselat's SluiceThe New Knights Templar: Show the Newbie WotL Part 10cavesofnarshe2018-12-13 | Our longest War of the Lions stream yet, we smash through the battle ending Chapter 3 where we wiped last week, and proceed into the game's final chapter. In it, we run into some more tough Knights Templar, namely Meliadoul and Barich. For the latter, we perform very poorly but then come back again and manage to steal his Glacial Gun, so that's fun and very useful to set up some new party arrangements for grinding and the battles ahead at Fort Besselat.

First off, apologies for any issues in the first twenty minutes of this week's stream rebroadcast; internet issues came out of nowhere and are resolved by the half-hour mark.
This episode covers what might be the most famous string of battles in the game, the span of encounters at Riovanes Castle that ends chapter 3. There's lots of slaughter to come as the party breaks in through the castle gates to find Formarv and Wiegraf both apparently under the thrall of the Zodiac Stones. Marvel at a dumb wipe against Wiegraf, and then a far more predictable one against Elmdore. In this episode, there's also another WotL-exclusive expositional battle featuring Delita and Ovelia!

Part 8cavesofnarshe2018-11-28 | For our last stream before the American Thanksgiving holiday, dive into some interesting battles in chapter three, dissecting the tricky mechanics of battling into the heart of an underground library and back out again. We meet Isilud for the first time, and Wiegraf again... but then something goes a little creepy with ex-leader of the Corpse Brigade. You can also read along with us the Germonique Scriptures for some really hardcore exposition, and meet Luso, Rapha, and Marach. Stick around to the end, and an exploding frog will be yours.

Part 6cavesofnarshe2018-11-01 | After our wipe on the way to the end of chapter two, we pick back up and bull through the remaining battles before immediately wiping in chapter three. On the way, though, we're introduced to a lot of new characters - including the legendary Orlandeau and his important son-in-law Orran - put an permanent end to Gaffgarion, fight our first real boss battle, and see a couple scenes that were created specifically for War of the Lions to help explain some future events. Death Penalty is overwhelmed by the weirdness throughout.

Part 5cavesofnarshe2018-10-22 | Picking up in chapter 2, the party makes it to meet Cardinal Delacroix, thereby saving Princess Ovelia and moving on to another part of the overall mission - using the force of Glabados to destroy the troublesome Baert Company. Ramza and Mustadio move towards Goug, where further surprises await. And, befitting a CoN stream, we wipe soon afterward in Balias Swale.

However, if you do go back later, at a time where you can change party members, you can unearth a great deal of background information on Eidolons, Eiko, and especially Dagger.
First, return to Madain Sari with a party that includes Dagger or Amarant, and walk to where the fish was caught for dinner. You'll notice that Lani will be there, and will scamper away immediately. Return again with a party without Amarant or Dagger, and this time she'll stay to talk to you. Talk a couple times to learn why she's there, and she will let you know that there is relevant information inscribed at the Eidolon Wall.

It's as much of a curiosity as anything else, because the quest happens very late in the game, so late that the player is deep into the final dungeon before it becomes available. Not only that, the quest takes place in Lindblum, and requires the player to go back and forth from Memoria to Lindblum repeatedly to finish the quest and grab the reward. And, if that wasn't enough, doing this quest provides a fairly meager reward and will likely take you out of the running to collect δExcalibur II unless you are cheating or using the speed modifier setting in the mobile and Windows versions of the game.

To answer, the player attacks the 'O' or 'X' creatures that accompany it, standing for true and false respectively, to answer. Ragtime Mouse, while accompanied by the Friendly Monster music, is not part of the Friendly Monsters sidequest. It can appear only a certain number of times per game disc, so once you've answered these maximum number of questions, whether you get them correct or not, you won't see him again until you move on to a new place.

These monsters appear on the world map and will not attack you, so make sure you don't cut them down either. Finding them all and donating their desires will allow the party to hit Ozma, the game's optional boss, with regular attacks (normally, only ranged attacks can reach it); additionally, Ozma becomes weak to Shadow instead of being able to absorb it.

Speaking of technical difficulties, this cast has no CoN branding and no chocobo warking because it's a real pain in the butt to get Twitch to play nice with that! The next one will be better. :)

However, this week's crew was really, legitimately excited about a lot of E3 2013 and as such we mostly didn't turn the snark up to crippling levels. We had some miscommunications around episode eight that ended up nixing our original plans for the episode theme - was lucky for us, then, that we had E3 the week before recording and we had a lot to say about it. Lucky even moreso because the very time we recorded was the time that Microsoft were making their epic turnaround on their always-online, Kinect-watches-you-sleep plan. The CoNcast: Episode 008 - Game Crowdfunding and E3 Anticipationcavesofnarshe2013-07-13 | For this edition of the CoNcast, the group takes EvilEye under our guidance to talk about the newest big thing in the production side of video games: Crowdfunding. Sites like Kickstarter and Indiegogo are making the early stages of game development more social, direct, and to an extent, even democratized. For some games, it's great, and for for others it's just another buzzword, and we're talking about it on the CoNcast right now - we even hypothesize what might happen if Square Enix decided to give crowdfunding a try; spoiler alert, the answer is generally "a gaming apocalypse."
