Gamescapes 2023-03-13 | It's a beautiful morning here in the Tanagar Canyon. The forecast shows clear skies all day and all night so sit back and enjoy the sunshine and canyon-top breeze.

I am recording several videos around Tanagar Canyon to fulfill some *very* old requests. I had six (!!) different requests for views around this area - y'all really like this canyon, huh? I'll intersperse those scenes with non-Tanagar ones for variety but rest assured, there's more canyon vids in the queue.

If you play FFXIV like I do, then that fate is to have your gatherer jobs outlevel your combat job. Please, I just want to pick flowers. Let me travel to the next zone already!!

This scene was recorded March 7, 2023, during the Little Ladies' Day event. During Little Ladies' Day cherry blossoms bloom in all the city states. I particularly enjoyed the scenery here in the Aftcastle of Limsa Lominsa, where the soft pink blossoms contrast so well against the blue sky.

Hyrule Castle, Unfrozen in Time | Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD

Gamescapes 2023-02-27 | *taps channel* This thing still on?

The first impression of Hyrule Castle is that of a dead thing: unmoving, pale, lifeless. The darknuts and moblins that patrol its halls are frozen in time, a threat of violence that will never come to pass. Never, until a hero comes along to take the Master Sword in his pursuit of the power to defeat evil.

Good job breaking it, hero.

But no harm done! This is a fun room to clear and you can get lots of good loot if you remember to use your grappling hook against all the enemies. So many Knights Crests!

East Sokkala Bridge | Akkala Falls | Zelda: Breath of the Wild

Gamescapes 2021-09-27 | It's a cool day in the Akkala Region. An air front brings rain, then thunder. We'll stay (mostly) dry under the East Sokkala Bridge - though its old boards are more rot than wood these days. Warm your hands by the fire while we wait for sunnier days.

Me being out of town is also why this is yet another Zora's Domain scene - I had it ready in my uploads as a backup if I didn't get another scene ready in time. I promise we're done with Zora's Domain after this-- at least for a while. Would you believe that Zora's Domain isn't even my favorite village in Breath of the Wild? Obviously I love Lurelin, but my second favorite after that is Hateno. Which village is your favorite?

Kakariko Village, Goddess Statue | Zelda: Breath of the Wild

Gamescapes 2021-09-13 | At the heart of Kakariko Village lies a peaceful shrine to the goddess Hylia. The torches behind her likeness keep her shrine lit even on the darkest nights (we can probably thank Paya for lighting those torches). Come stand by the pond. Feel the elements of fire, water and life all around.

In this scene in-game time has been frozen at exactly 4:50 AM. Why that specific time? Because Pikango shows up at 5 AM to paint *very loudly*. I love that guy, but I wish he'd chill with the swooshes.

A. The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D

Q. Why does it look like that?
A. I am playing with Citra, a 3DS emulator, which allows the game to play at a higher resolution and load some custom textures. I edited a few textures myself (such as removing the A button prompt that is usually on the bottom right) but otherwise the textures are the normal in-game ones. I have Texture Filter set to xBRZ freescale.

Tarrey Town is a fitting location since house building was the reason I was so busy and took a break from posting. I'm literally in the waiting room for the lawyer while I'm writing this

Hiking from Mount Lanayru to Kakariko | 6:00 - 7:00 AM | Zelda: Breath of the Wild

Gamescapes 2021-03-08 | Our journey starts on the snowy slopes of Walnot Mountain, just north of Mapla Point. We've crossed the fuzzy line that separates the Necluda and Lanayru regions and we're in for a rough climb. The snow and wind are picking up as we climb toward Lanayru's peak, so we'll rest at the jutting cliffside of Lanayru Range a moment before making our way to the Spring of Wisdom. At the Spring we can truly rest. The magical, safe waters - though frigid - are somehow bracing. Time to gather the stamina needed to climb our way around and down the mountain. After some climbing and some gliding we land back at normal elevation in Naydra Snowfield. The snow here is falling a bit softer than on the mountainside, but as we move further west towards the East Gate and Lanayru Promenade the snow turns to stinging cold rain. On the other side of the East Gate, on Lanayru Promenade the rain finally gives way to warm sun and blue skies. The double rainbow is a reward after the hard journey we've had. But we're not to our destination just yet! We walk on, through the West Gate, past a suspicious traveler, and into a small forest that lies just north of Kakariko. The Great Fairy's magic is present here, and her song calls us forward. As we pass the Fairy Fountain we have to stop and admire the scenery for a moment. One last stop before we can head into Kakariko: a small hill above the Ta'Loh Naeg Shrine. From up here we can look back at where we've travelled and enjoy the warmth of the sun. When we're ready, we can greet the villagers in Kakariko. It's 7 AM.

Café Leblanc | Daytime | Persona 5

Gamescapes 2021-03-05 | Leblanc is a cozy coffee-lovers dream nestled away in the back streets of Yongen-Jaya. It's not the most popular place around but it has its charms. In game the camera is set to a much higher, nearly top-down angle but I wanted to see what it would look like if you were sitting in the café yourself. It's nice! Sojiro, the owner, has done a good job decorating. For this video we'll be spending half our time at a booth looking towards the café entrance and the other half at the bar, watching the news. Grab your beverage of choice, relax, and enjoy the atmosphere. Remember: take your time.

Side note - I wish that big curtain was open at least a little because there are SO MANY lovely plants growing just outside the café and it would be so nice and bright and airy -- guess that's not Sojiro's style, though. Whatever, old man.

Skull Lake | Deep Akkala | Zelda: Breath of the Wild

Gamescapes 2021-02-22 | Oh, Skull Lake. Getting here is a hassle and a half what with all the Lynels dotting the otherwise lovely Akkala Highlands. Here in Deep Akkala the brutal, Breach of Demise-like rocky teeth that edge Skull Lake lend a desolate feel to this isolated location. The giant water flowers (like those you can find by the Horse God Malanya's fountain) are an alien sight that remind me of the Ancient Cistern from Skyward Sword. I've been thinking about Skyward Sword a lot lately, just like every Zelda fan this past week.

Hyrule on Horseback | First-person Mod Test | Zelda: Breath of the Wild

Gamescapes 2021-02-19 | Happy Variety Friday! Consider this a rough draft-ish behind-the-scenes kinda video. I think I prefer the stationary scenes (they allow me to avoid some graphical issues like the low-res shadows and loading lag you'll see occasionally in this vid) but seeing Hyrule in motion is really something else!

Horseback videos have been requested by ~several~ lovely folks and I hope this tides y'all over til I collect more scenes to edit together a little more nicely.

Special easter egg at the end of the vid: that view of Akkala and Death Mountain was one of my first videos! I love the sunset there, and it was perfect luck that we arrived at the Akkala Ancient Tech Lab just in time for sunset.

Thunderstorms in Ebara Forest | Floria Falls | Zelda: Breath of the Wild

Gamescapes 2021-02-15 | Been in the mood for some stormy ambience lately~ And it's been so cold out, so the tropical feel of Faron's jungles is just what I needed! I love this part of the path just before Floria Bridge. If you were travelling from Lurelin to the Lakeside Stable this would be your first glimpse of Floria Falls through the palms.

This scene was inspired by a suggestion from a viewer: Handro Rico! They suggested a thunderstorm video in the Farosh area or Thundra Plateau, similar to my Windfall Island storm video. Hope you like it!

A. The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D

Q. Why does it look like that?
A. I am playing with Citra, a 3DS emulator, which allows the game to play at a higher resolution and load some custom textures. I edited a few textures myself (such as removing the A button prompt that is usually on the bottom right) but otherwise the textures are the normal in-game ones. I have Texture Filter set to xBRZ freescale.

Malanya Spring | Horse Gods Spring | Zelda: Breath of the Wild

Gamescapes 2021-02-08 | The hidden spring of the Horse God Malanya is located along the southern coast of the Faron region of Hyrule. Have you resurrected a lost horsey friend in your game? I've been lucky enough that I haven't required Malanya's necromancy services so I rarely find myself visiting his spring. That's a shame, because until now I hadn't really appreciated the Stable / Fairy Fountain theme mashup he's got goin on here. It's a chill mix!

From Hateno Village to the Sea | 5:00 - 6:00 AM | Zelda: Breath of the Wild

Gamescapes 2021-02-05 | Good morning! It's a beautiful day in Hyrule, so let's go for a morning stroll. Today we're taking the road out of Hateno Village to visit the sea.

Before we leave the village we'll pass by Hateno Pasture and check in on the Hateno Ancient Tech Lab, then take the other path and head on down the winding path towards Hateno Bay. This path has gorgeous elevated views and a peaceful little waterfall pond that's perfect for weary travelers to rest at before continuing their journey. Once we've rested we follow the path down the cliffside and at the end of the path our feet finally hit sand - we're at the beach! Specifically Hateno Bay. Sit in the sand and watch the tide come in a while. We'll follow the coastline east and eventually find Deepback Bay, with a small pier and a boat. Let's take the boat across the bay and enjoy the low-tide tidepools at Mapla Point.
What a journey! And it's only 6 AM.

For this video in-game time is modded to pass at the same speed as real time.

Dow Naeh Shrine | Lanayru Promenade Waterfall Cave | Zelda: Breath of the Wild

Gamescapes 2021-02-01 | This secret cave behind the waterfall is a much-requested location. It's a cozy and safe little haven near the Lanayru Promenade, which is a pretty dangerous road all things considered. You could be travelling this way pretty early in your journey. In my first journey around Hyrule the forgotten memory at the East Gate was one of the first I recovered. I was NOT PREPARED for the monsters around this area AT ALL. This cave provides needed respite from the monster-laden main road and is a great spot to set up camp.

Enjoy the shifting of the light and the gentle ambient music!

Top of the Deku Tree | Zelda: Breath of the Wild

Gamescapes 2021-01-25 | I love the Deku Tree in Breath of the Wild!! I love the little shop and inn in his trunk, I love his big goofy wooden face, and I LOVE this beautiful little pond high in his branches. Really, it's a perfect little sanctuary away from the monsters and drama of Calamity Ganon. Enjoying the sights here (or in Lurelin) feels like you're giving Link a spa day. And honestly, he deserves many, many spa days.

The Great Shade | Morning | Eastshade

Gamescapes 2021-01-22 | Welcome back to ~Variety Friday~ !! Today's scene is the big tree in the Great Shade area of Eastshade, a beautiful stop on the road from Lyndow to Nava city. From up here you can see the vibrant Blushwood Forest and the mountainous Restless Reach.

Eastshade is a beautiful and peaceful atmospheric indie game that I wholeheartedly recommend for a chill time. Your character is a painter and you can spend your time exploring beautiful scenes and immortalizing them on canvas. Just about every angle of this game could make a perfect scene for this channel. You'll likely see more from Eastshade on this channel in the future. I just love the lighting and colors. Play it for yourself, you'll see!

A. I used console commands to freeze time for this video. It's around 6AM in-game, I believe. I also used commands to increase the LOD bias and shadow detail distance.

Royal Ancient Lab Ruins | Zelda: Breath of the Wild

Gamescapes 2021-01-18 | Another day, another ruins. But this isn't just another ruins, this was a key pre-Calamity location! Playing Age of Calamity is sort of shocking. Seeing locations like this or the Ranch Ruins full of life really is a testament to how much thought the Zelda team gave the pre-Calamity world as they developed Breath of the Wild. I hope we get to see more world design in Breath of the Wild 2. Give us more settlements!

Anyway! The Royal Ancient Lab Ruins sit quietly on a plateau directly west of Hyrule Castle, separated by Hyrule Castle's moat. This small flat area of the Ridgeland is easily missable, but also a wonderful vantage point for watching the sun rise over Hyrule, especially over the plains of Central Hyrule. I just love watching the sun peek over Death Mountain. Such pretty skies!

Moss Mother Cavern | Waterfall | The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim

Gamescapes 2021-01-15 | I love the atmosphere in Moss Mother Cavern. Lush, foggy, mysterious, a little ominous. It's got a lot going on for being such a small piece of a big world. Like that cute waterfall! Make sure you help Valdr, the man outside the cave, with his poison problem before you go inside to enjoy the view. Otherwise he may not be around when you come back out! (Whoops)

Each of these scenes and locations are special to me for different reasons.

Shadow Pass was one of my first collaborations. This scenery was recorded for and used by Tenpers in his "Relaxing Music with Sweet Rain" video and led to a bunch of folks discovering my channel as well as many subsequent collaborations. South Tabantha Snowfield was my main stomping ground when I played Breath of the Wild just for fun, pre-Gamescapes. I loved to travel here, hunt by horseback, then sell my goods to Beedle so I could stock back up on arrows. Simple, fun. Just a nice little area!

Forest of Spirits-- you may recognize this from a popular Breath of the Wild screenshot. Turns out that screenshot may be from a pre-release build? There are definitely some differences in the world. Anyway, this location was recommended to me in a conversation with other "Zeltubers". This past year I've had the privilege to meet some very lovely folks and I'm ever grateful that this little channel has allowed me to branch out and talk to people I never would have had the opportunity to meet otherwise.

Lurelin Village is just straight up my favorite village. It's perfect. A little oceanside village minding its own business, enjoying paradise away from all the calamity drama? Gotta love it. Personally, every time I end up in Lurelin Village I love to run up and down the coastline (wearing the Sheikah set to be sneaky) grabbing up all the crabs and snails. One of my earliest "successful" videos was a Lurelin Village video that got linked in a French gaming forum. That was back before I had 100 subs so seeing people recommend my content at all was a shock. Nowadays I sometimes see y'all mentioning me in other folks' comment sections when people talk about video game scenery and I'm always so thankful. You're all very kind, and so positive. Mount Lanayru Northeast Cliff | Zelda: Breath of the Wild

Gamescapes 2021-01-11 | Mount Lanayru leaves quite an impression. From the memories of Zelda trying (and failing) to unlock her powers to finally reaching the summit and finding Naydra, Lanayru is an impactful location both past and present. And yet, I almost wish there was more to do on this mountain. It's a lovely snowy area and it has the bonus of having a dragon meandering around so it would be great if there was a reason for me to spend more time here. Oh well, we can make our own fun! We'll just camp here on the northeast side of the mountain and enjoy the sight of the ocean stretching out to meet the horizon. What a lovely sunrise.

Morning Road to Hateno Village | 04:00 - 05:00 AM | Zelda: Breath of the Wild

Gamescapes 2021-01-08 | It seems that the sun rises early in Hyrule. Today we're journeying along the main Necluda road heading east: through the crevice of the Dueling Peaks, across Ash Swamp and Blatchery Plain, past the crumbling wall of Fort Hateno, passing under the Cliffs of Quince and continuing down the road til we meet Ginner and Midla Woods from which we can see the gate of Hateno Village. Even this early in the day travelers are making the same journey as us, from stable to village.

For this video in-game time is modded to pass at the same speed as real time.

Rainy Woodland Tower | Zelda: Breath of the Wild

Gamescapes 2021-01-04 | The Woodland Tower feels closer to Hyrule Castle than I remember. Calamity Ganon can practically look out a window and see us taking shelter here. Don't let the ominous purple haze keep you from enjoying the campfire though! We're safe here... as long as you aren't carrying anything metal, because wow there's a lot of lightning.

This scene was suggested by a viewer: Princess Pain33! They suggested the Woodland Tower with a campfire blazing, or raining - so I did both! Thanks for the suggestion. I hope you enjoy!

Snowfield Stable | Zelda: Breath of the Wild

Gamescapes 2020-12-25 | Brrr, it's a snowstorm! Stay cozy by the fire as we camp outside Snowfield Stable in the Tabantha Tundra area of the Hebra region. Local animals (like the stable puppies) must have some thick fur to stay out in this weather all day. This scene was recorded from 2 PM to 3 PM in-game time using a mod to slow down the clock to real time-- though you really can't tell if time is passing at all with those clouds and snow!

Mount Granajh | Gerudo Highlands | Zelda: Breath of the Wild

Mount Granajh's peak offers a broad view of Hyrule's landscape but where we stand, just down the hill, we can enjoy the ruins of a small cabin home someone once kept. Ah, to be a hermit on Mount Granajh, watching the sun set over a vast desert.

Harker Lake | Rainy Faron Woods | Zelda: Breath of the Wild

Gamescapes 2020-12-18 | "What?" you may be saying, "This isn't a winter scene! It's a rainy (probably super humid) forest!" Yes, yes it is. I happened to have grown up in Florida so consider this video some representation for Florida Winter, at least in spirit.

Anyway! The green-tinged haze of rain is beautiful as a backdrop as we take shelter under a large tree. It's so large, we can even keep a fire going! The canopy sure is thick here. Surprisingly we're not that deep into the jungle here but the cry of various animals makes it seem like we're miles away from civilization. Hope you enjoy this bit of wild, rainy ambiance!

Snow-capped Hebra Falls | Zelda: Breath of the Wild

Gamescapes 2020-12-14 | Hebra is such a gorgeous region. The pines, the views, the friendly Rito- just a great place to chill out and explore. Here we've gone on a bit of a hike up towards Hebra Falls. If you look in the field beyond the close tree line you'll see a big friend just living their life. I like when they curl up to nap, very cute. Enjoy this cozy little campfire as we climb the snowy Hebra mountains!

Flower Hill by Rutile Lake | Zelda: Breath of the Wild

Gamescapes 2020-12-11 | It's a beautiful day on Satori Mountain! The mountain is quite active this morning, there's wildlife everywhere. In the first moments of the video you can see that summerwing butterflies were enjoying this little flowery hill but quickly got shy around the camera. They just leave me, how rude! Oh well, at least we can enjoy this beautiful, sunny day. What's your favorite spot around Satori Mountain?

Q: Where are the hearts? How do you hide the UI? Where's Link?
A: Pro+ HUD is a "mod" (Graphics Pack) that is accessed through Cemu - it hides hearts, the stamina wheel - pretty much everything! Link is invisible because I backed him up against a tree or wall or box or barrel and then moved the camera in close enough that he disappeared.

Hyrule Field | Road to Mabe Village and Ranch Ruins | Zelda: Breath of the Wild

Gamescapes 2020-12-07 | It's a cloudy day in Hyrule. If you're not a fan of clouds, don't worry! The forecast shows clear skies around noon.
This far from the castle Hyrule is deceptively peaceful. (Let's ignore the patrolling guardian in the field behind us and just enjoy the view ahead). This winding dirt path was likely once a bustling roadway for people and goods to travel between the Hyrule Garrison and Mabe Village- both of which now lie in ruin.
By the way, have you played Age of Calamity? I love all the little details we get about what a pre-Calamity Hyrule looked like. Now we know that the ranch ruins were once the Mabe Ranch Co-op! How cool! I've finished the story missions but I'm having a great time playing all the side missions. Definitely gonna 100% it. How about you?

Farm at Lake Sumac | Hateno Village Cliffs | Zelda: Breath of the Wild

Gamescapes 2020-09-14 | Look at those sheep! If you enjoy sheepy baas and swaying grasses, you're gonna love this farm ambiance (farmbiance?). This little cliffside farm raises sheep and cattle for milk and wool respectively - at least when the sheepies aren't being kidnapped by Moblins! This simple, beautiful farm is putting me in a Gamecube-era 3D Harvest Moon mood tbh. Hope you enjoy!

Hateno Ancient Tech Lab | Purahs Room | Zelda: Breath of the Wild

Gamescapes 2020-09-11 | A short interior scene - had to cut it short when a blood moon interrupted filming. Also, 30 minutes straight of the ancient tech lab theme is a lot tbh. In the top room of the lab's tower sits Purah's room. From here we can observe her guardian studies and enjoy the slightly cluttered but cozy room ambiance. I like how you can hear the wind buffeting the tower now and again over the lab theme. It'll be interesting to see Purah (and Impa!) if they appear in the new Hyrule Warriors game. Samurai Warriors was one of my fave rainy day games back in the day so I'm looking forward to another Zelda musou - especially since we'll get to see more of the champions!

Goron City | Goron Monolith Statues | Zelda: Breath of the Wild

Gamescapes 2020-09-07 | I used to find it goofy but the Goron City brass section has really grown on me! The region is beautiful, if treacherous (there's a puddle of lava just below us, watch your step) but it's somehow also cozy? I think it's the nostalgia that's winning me over. I swear I can hear bits of Dragon Roost Cavern? Something's striking me as Wind Waker-y about the theme, and it's probably also a motif from Ocarina or Majora's Mask. I'm no expert-- but you know who is??

While looking online to see if this monument has a proper name I found the freelance artist who created the asset for the game! How cool! His name is Brent Kirby, you can check out his ArtStation here:

South Akkala Stable | Zelda: Breath of the Wild

Gamescapes 2020-08-28 | Okay so I know we've recorded at this location before, but that was an interior view and I wanted to show off the contrast of Akkala colors against the deep blue sea. This area is just so cool! The path to the left takes you down through Shadow Pass (another beautiful location I've filmed) and the path to the right leads you through the Torin Wetland towards Tarrey Town. I love the Akkala region- it just feels comfy to me! What's your favorite region in Breath of the Wild?

Nautelle Wetlands | Peaceful Evening | Zelda: Breath of the Wild

Gamescapes 2020-08-24 | The Nautelle Wetlands is the southern end of an alien landscape that lies along the east side of the snowy plateaus of Mount Granajh. The east side of the mountain must be where all the snowmelt goes, creating this marsh area as it drains to Faron Sea. This unique landscape with its yellow grasses and baobab-like trees stretches in a thin band from these wetlands at the southern end of the continent up to the Taobab Grassland which sits in-between Mount Hylia, Mount Faloraa and the East Gerudo Mesa. If you visit this area be cautious, the path north to the grasslands is guarded by not one, but two Lynels! However those who are courageous may be rewarded - with an awesome new horse!
