My Random VLOG here where you can influence my selection of possible music to compose for the ColecoVision game system.
http://atariage.com/forums/blog/671/entry-14692-next-music-to-compose-after-africa-by-toto
Details about how this music came to be, with binary and source file, in AtariAge forums.
atariage.com/forums/topic/278326-music-colecovision-africa-by-toto
Recorded with BlueMSX which always decided to record sounds mostly on the left channel, to fix that (like I did on my other music videos) I've to reprocess the video with VirtualDub and copy left channel to the right one to equilibrate. If someone knows how to fix that in the emulator itself, please do tell.

It took 3 days to compose, note by note, hex code by hex code.
MP3 file should be available at the website eventually, please check this video description later

If you are a chess master (or higher), feel free to comment. I've also PGN file of these 2 games if you want to take a look on the time used and their thinking.
Houdini 1.5a is considered the strongest free chess engine around. I personaly consider Komodo 3 as the second free strongest ex-quo with Fire xTrem, but there is a whole debate on the subject in forums actually. Stockfish was my favorite free chess engine for the last 2 years, but time changed.
Why I've done this video? I think chess masters might find interesting to compare the 2 games and try to find the key movement that kinda decide "win" or "lose". And I'm fascinated by computer chess programs and I want to program one eventually, even if I'm not a good chess player myself. I don't expect to program any chess engine as strong as these 3, but I can dream.
This video shows a pixelart by Frogziller called Sackboy, a character from Little Big Planet videogame.

This amazing cool fake movie trailer was done in Flash during 4 days based on my ColecoVision homebrew game released in 2009 named GhostBlaster. The game is available as a ROM file, but also in cartridge (well, for a limited time, and now again available with the help of Dale Wick).
Note : For those who can't pass the first level, it's probably because you can't do the jumps to reach the top, which means you have a bad joystick... don't blame teh game, clean and repair your game controllers.
CV ROM files can be found at my official ColecoVision web site here

Before you ask, this mod is actually for Minecraft 1.8, a new version will be done after the official release of Minecraft 1.9
Seriously, this game is unstable and not worth downloading it and playing it. It crashes, freezes, even closes before running if X-TRAP consider you are cheating by using a screen capture software or even leaving a task manager open (which is my case). The loading time depends mostly on the hardware your computer is using, but my computer should be able to load and play this game considering that I can load and play a game like Broderlands just fine... but it takes ages for Rusty Hearts to load as you'll see in this video if you didn't decided to stop it by thinking that I'm doing a joke here... it's not a joke, it's the time it takes for me to load the game. To compare, Borderlands load incredibly more faster than this game on the same computer. This game has no excuse to take that much time.
Because some of you may not believe me when I say that my characters are gone, ask my friend if we played in a party an hour before I've recorded this video with a character named "Aspirateur" (vaccuum cleaner). And you'll all see the loading time and the stupid issue of invisible ennemies... my friends don't believe me when I say that I've invisible ennemies in this game.
And a message to those who want to flag this video : I'm not even using the audio part, and it's clearly a critic, a review of some sort, so it's covered by "fair use". And if you've problem with that, go watch something else! geez!
I've recorded this video with something called bandicam, added a soft computer generated female voice (maybe too soft?), sound effects and music while doing the montage with AVS Video Editor. Audacity was helpful to grab sounds and make them wav files because somehow I can't hear ogg vorbis format in the video editor.
If you want to see by yourself the huge amount of pixelarts we did so far, you're welcome. From the spawn point, go upstairs and walk on the "sky road" by following the rising sun, and after a long walk just follow the clouds and you should be very close to your destination.

As you can see, the framerate is better in this video, compared to the "too many chickens" one, and the reason is simply because in this video there is not hundred of chickens lagging my computer.
As an extra, I don't know if you noticed but... female player characters in this video have breasts... something not in the official game. I've programmed and added this into my Minecraft.jar file to get this effect... took an entire day but I really like the effect, it looks like these characters are breathing.

FAQ
- I don't like the look of this tool! Well, good for you because it's the mod I've made and I've decided that this multitool item will looks just like that.
- There is already multitool mods. I know, I've seen one that looks like a swiss-knife. So...? I'm not forcing you to use my mod, I'm proposing you one. It's up to you to try it or not.
- Why using mossy cobblestone? Because mossy cobblestone is not used in any recipes and I wanted to create an idea that needed one to be crafted. Because mossy cobblestone is relatively rare, making a multi-tool would be difficult enough to be generaly accepted by Minecraft players to be used in their games.
- Why using diamonds? For the same reason in the tools already in the game can be crafted with diamonds. You can use also 2 wooden planks, 2 cobblestones, 2 iron ingots, or 2 gold ingots. The multitool will be less durable if you use gold instead of iron or diamond, but somehow the tool will be faster to use (and it's not because I've wanted to be that way, it was something already coded in Minecraft regarding the building materials for tools).
- Why using 2 diamonds? Because the average of diamonds needed is barely above 2 diamonds for the tools this multi-tool can replace : shovel needs 1, sword needs 2, hoe needs 2, axe needs 3, pickaxe needs 3. 11 diamonds / 5 = 2.2 diamonds per tool.
- Why it can break obsidian so fast? Because I've set this tool to be able to break obsidian as well. In Minecraft source code, regular pickaxe doesn't consider obsidian as a block they can break so only the building material toughness is considered, not the efficiency of the tool. The multitool here keeps the efficiency of a pickaxe while digging obsidian, making the process much faster.
- Your mod crashes Minecraft. Really? Well, it's not supposed to... except if you didn't install ModLoader properly or if there is a conflict with another mod you already installed. If it's a mod conflict, let me know all your mods you are using to help me fix the issue in the future.
If you have more questions or objections, use the comments section below.
Hope you liked this video and will eventually give it a try.
Know issues : This multitool isn't effective againsts new blocks from other mods like trees made with treecapitator and fossiles from peaceful mod. However, this multi-tool can adapt to a new block if you try first to use the tool on the block instead of break it; the tool will confirmed by playing a slime sound effect.

After trying to smooth a little bit the terrain curves nearby the village houses, I've stopped playing for awhile.
When I've decided to continue my game, this is exactly what I've experienced (recorded here as a test for the video capture software I was trying). Coming from nowhere, Israphel attacked me with his golden sword and arrows. Of course, I've failed, not ready for this attack.
The Yogbox MOD pack is cool but very laggy, and it's apparently because of Millénaire (villages simulator). I don't suggest at all to install the full MOD pack... try one at a time and keep only your favorites. It's beta version so game freezing and random lags are expected.
Day - 0
After security, I went through all the flights with some issues, for the most part : a broken plane and a delayed plane. Hopefully, I had some quaters I've keeped from my last time in the US so I were able to call the Hotel for a shuttle.
What you can't see in this video is all the nice people sitting near the entrance waiting for me to say "you finaly made it? how was your flight?" Well, this video is my final response to this question.
I've forgot to mention that the second flight landing was kinda scary. The pilot had to break so hard to not miss the turn right after the landing to reach the right gate. Otherwise, the flights were fine, but the inside of these planes was hot, even more when planes are on the ground. Next time, I will not wear more than a t-shirt and short.
June 13 2011, I've tried to sell some of my ColecoVision gems on Youtube. Brain Schumacher is the only one who made a serious offer in time, and he wanted a Jeepers Creepers cartridge. I was keeping at least one cartridge for myself until now, the number 25 because I've released this game in cartridges right before halloween, in the year 2007... it was kinda the 25th anniversary or the ColecoVision game system, that's why I was keeping the number 25.
ADAMCON OFFICIAL WEB SITE : http://www.adamcon.org
Description : ADAMCon is an annual convention specially for Coleco ADAM computer and ColecoVision game system users. It's a 3 days session, morning July 15 to afternoon July 17, 2011. People like you and me participate at this event to talk about various Coleco related subjects including old and upcoming softwares and hardwares. It's a perfect opportunity to meet other Coleco enthusiasts, to make some discoveries and share information. During the last years at the ADAMCon, I've made presentations about ColecoVision programming and Coleco music composing. It's a family friendly convention, more than any other event in my opinion.
This year it's at Grand Rapids, Michigan, USA. You sleep at the hotel July 14 2011 and the sessions start the morning of July 15 2011. The last presentation is done July 17 afternoon, followed by a special buffet, passing banner and group photos during the evening. In 2012, the ADAMCon convention will probably be in Ontario, Canada.
Take a moment to visit the web site and decide if you want to take part of it or not. It's always good to see new and long time no see faces during this event.
Thanks for watching!

So, I've made a Smurf pointing first to my house, then I was thinking to make something complex with redstones and so the blinking "Coleco" and "Vision" sign was done in the most compact way... kinda the same challenge as fitting an incredible videogame into a tiny 32KB cartridge... plus the lag.
I'm happy with the result and I hope you enjoy the video. Sorry to not show you exactly how the circuit works for the blinking, it's essentially a 5-clock and a couple of repeaters, no logic gates or memory simulation.
For example, the first music may reminds you of a festival, or even a circus... it depends on each one experience in videogame and life in general.
Do your best to give an answer to both questions, it's not a quiz so don't think too hard and make your head explode.
Egg-Note : it's better if you close your eyes first and open them only after the second music ends... otherwise you may feel observed.
Note : In the chat, Dan said that someone took a minecart from him. I have no clue who took his minecart, I've made some for my railroad and put them in chests at both ends of the tracks, like shown in the video.
At anytime, I might be the target of a greifer again. I've even change my password twice already just in case.
The main reason why people are playing Minecraft is because of the social part, otherwise many people will just get bored quickly and play something else.
This video was recorded with a software named ScreenCamera which directly render the video into WMV format. The compression to WMV format slows uses too much the CPU and creates a low framerate rendering for the video capture. Hopefully, it's not really an issue this time, I just wanted to show you quickly what I've done in Minecraft at the "gaming comunity" server... I don't know the name of the server.
It's my style of cartoon, with missing arms because the Flash version I'm using don't include the hability to use a skeleton and I was tired after 10 hours. So it's useless to comment about the missing arms. Instead, did you notice the message in the cartoon? or even notice the Atari logo used for the belt buckle?
Think about it, it took me a little more than 10 hours to do that. To me, it's my first try and I think it worthed the effort.
SOFTWARE USED
AUDACITY (FREE) : Capture and edit audio sequences. I've captured the audio from Rob's video, cut a few pauses, remove the background noise, and amplify some parts. Duration : 5 minutes.
PAPAGAYO (FREE) : Lip-syncing program designed to help lining up phonemes (mouth shapes) with the actual recorded sound of actors speaking. Simply need the audio file and typing the text and then align one by one phrases and words to match the audio the best as possible. Duration : 25 minutes.
ADOBE FLASH (NOT FREE) : Drawing+Animation timeline based tool with vector graphics support. The Latest version includes "bone" feature, which I don't have, to create skeletons inside the drawing to make it move more easily to make cartoons. Instead I've used a few motion twean effects and do my best to fit the audio playing with the mouth shapes sequence I had to hardcode almost frame by frame based on the file made with Papagayo. Because of the lack of "bone" feature, things like arms moving around is not easy and need a lot of time. In fact, up to 90% of the time to do this cartoon was to deal with Flash and make tweak a few things here and there, addind details, and so on. Duration : more than 9 hours with frustration sometimes.
Hope you enjoyed the video!
Special thanks to MaximumRD and MarkVergeer!
If you didn't suscribed yet to MaximumRD and MarkVergeer channels, I highly suggest to do so... they have great humor and a lot more various content than my dedicated Coleco channel here.
Please note that the "wall of fame" is composed of featured channels on MaximumRD's channel page.
Rule#1 : you can do more than 1 suggestions, but each one should be in a different comment.
Rule#2 : act like you have amnesia by not saying the name of the game, the name of the characters in the game or even the name of the company who made the game. also don't say something too obvious that identify precisely the game you are suggesting, like "climbing up ladders and jumping over barrels"
Rule#3 : thumbs up suggestions you like,
Remember that these suggested games should be possible for the ColecoVision game system. So nothing that implies voice, video, too much text, graphics or cpu processing. But who knows what can be possible to do for this game system.
Why I'm doing this? why this amnesia rule? Well, I don't like getting suggestions like "do a port of this game" or simply "do this game" when I'm more comfortable with trying to make my own games. However, it's obvious that I'm not the only CV programmer around here and getting these suggestions from you should be interesting. By getting only the descriptions of these games open the door to various interpretations and creativity.
Make your suggestions now and maybe win a prize (if I can think of any).
My suggestion... suggest also games that are not in the arcade, like RPGs and other types of games.
In my humble opinion, this is the best electronic chiptune of this music, something you might not be ready to hear, specially for a ColecoVision videogame.
You can check the progression of this brand new ColecoVision game and so as some other cool projects at the programmer's Youtube channel here : http://www.youtube.com/bfggamepassion

This video is dedicated to all my friends on Youtube and elsewhere, to tell them to do what they like to do, the life is too short. My passion is ColecoVision, it's what I like to play with, to program it, to have fun with it.
Jean Bartik, like mentionned in the video, is one of the women who worked on the ENIAC in the 1940s. Their work (of these women) was recognized only in the 1980s when someone wrote a paper about the history of computers. Considering that back then the job "working on computers" was more hardware manipulations than doing a few mouse clicks and typing on a keyboard, these pioneers do have things to tell us, to teach us, including inspirational words of wisedom.
I was looking around to improve my flash animation skills (I'm multi-talented) and I've decided to try the software papagayo to help me for the lipsyncs and this is the result. the animation is 24 frames per second and the best synchronization is reached when I'm playing the sound 2 frames later than it should be in the Flash timeline.
Before year 2000, my friends and I had fun playing videogames in the same location, doing LAN parties with our PCs and multipler games for Nintendo 64 and XBOX like the famous Golden Eye in split screen mode. After year 2000, it became more difficult to find time to continue playing these games and we mostly move on to playing online games. While some of us prefer playing games like Minecraft and Magikca, and others are mostly waiting for the next Diablo and Duke Nukem, I've decided with a friend to try Champions Online available as "free to play" since (I think) february 2011 (this year). After the extreme long download time, and busting my Internet bandwidth limitation again, I've started playing this game... not what I imagined but fun to play with friends because this game is really challenging. My main complain of this game is the dull part of collecting more and more objects to make components to make other objects which is not part of what I consider a superhero job. My main complains of the free to play mode is that any change to the costume cost money and the inventory space is too small.
If you also play this game, and want to play with me to defeat Ripper or any other big boss of this game, let me know.
As for the music itself, I've composed it the same way as my other ones. Maybe you can point out to me a pop music or something that sounds just like this one. Personally, I have a vague impression of "deja vu" but I've no clue. The only thing I'm sure is that I've composed it note by note, during more than a day, and the MP3 file will be available soon on my web site.

1. - Fun with the number 2011 - I don't believe in astrology and numerology, but it's fun to play around with numbers. The year 2011 seems to be my lucky year, based on my non-scientific manipulations of 2011 and the date of the new Chinese year (February 3rd, 2011). It's the Chinese year of the rabbit, my Chinese zodiac sign (apparently), number 7 is related to luck, and having a rabbit foot is for luck (poor little rabbit captured for their feet).
2. - Creeper World Training Intro. I'm showing how to get a very good score at this online flash game, at least with the intro level, without cheating.
3. - Champions Online (free 2 play). My friends asked me to join them but we waited for the free to play version. Here, I present to you my champion : The Angry Computer Guy. He looks a lot like me, except that I wear clothes and don't stand and move like Hulk in real life... and he uses teleportation for long distance and mind powers to defeat enemies. If you play also Champions Online, let me know : my nickname is ColecoMan.
Enjoy this random video from my part.
Some technical details. It uses Graphic Mode 1, 2 charsets (almost full) and 6 screens (frames), 3 screens per charset, and a data sequence to create this animation. The idea is to set during the NMI the proper screen with its proper charset for each frame and that's it. The rom file is pretty much uncompressed but still small (less than 6KB).
Download file... soon available with source code.

It tooks me 2 hours to get this footage right, not because it was difficult to record, but I wanted a good match that ends with a K.O.
Super Action Boxing Rocky is playable only with Coleco SuperAction controllers. Unfortunately for PC users, many emulators like BlueMSX doesn't support these special controllers. So you can't really play this game, but you can surely watch a good fight!

This ColecoVision video game published by CollectorVision in 2009 was adapted/ported by dvik and joyrex in 2008 from games by T&E Soft.
This game footage was recorded with a real ColecoVision console, not emulation.
I'm selling my copy of this game in order to possible buy a new one. It's your chance to get your hands on this game no more available.
In this video, I'm playing at the highest difficulty level.
If you think it's easy to do addition and substraction math problems, it's because you've never solved them by playing this game.
Thanks to Telegames who released this game in 1986, which otherwise will have been simply lost. It's one of the latest commercial ColecoVision games published.
To start the game, simply move the joystick up, the rest is just avoid obstacles and kill the 15 white enemies as fast as you can in order to not stay too long in this insane and deadly zone. Save the rockets for the boss, but you can use them before if you are in trouble.
This game is all about reflex and random chance because of all the random obstacles popping in the game, each one incredibly fast and indestructible.
I highly suggest to play this game at a low difficulty level... unless your goal is to yell at your tv screen.
Even if it's conter intuitive, holding fire button to shot constantly is NOT a good strategy. You have to predict where the enemies are going and shoot when it's appropriate, not all the time, because you can one shoot one laser beam or rocket at a time.
Recorded with BlueMSX 2.8.2 multi systems emulator
Except for the "guessing game" and a few other random things during the game, it's possible to see a pattern after playing this game a lot and be very good at the first levels (or screens).
I highly suggest to play this game at a low difficulty level... unless your goal is to beat my score here.
A good strategy is to get rid of the short lines of customers first, notice all the time how many costumers there are per line and get back empty glasses before they break on the floor.

ColecoCam is a way to use your webcam to make your first Coleco rom file by showing your picture on screen. That's it! Nothing difficult to use, just make sure your Flash is up-to-date and your webcam not used by another software.

I had the idea of ColecoMe in 1996-97 while I was working on my first Coleco programming tools including the discontinued CVPHOTO and I.C.V.G.M. written in QuickBASIC.
