I actually started this cover back in July of last year right around when Remo and I started working on the Stranger collab. Amber had just bought Fukase and I’d been eyeing him for a while, so I ended up snagging a few renders off of her to see how he handled. Monster Crush was a song I’d been wanting to cover for a long while and the original tuning was simple enough I didn’t have to worry too much about long-distancing the whole ordeal, so I was able to tune it fast and get a rough cover done in practically no time at all.
Then came the Strangers upload, the thing met 200 views //fast,// (the agreement being 200 views and I'd buy Fukase w) and I went ahead and caved and got the boy. Went ahead and re-rendered what I’d had, fixed up a couple parts, added in a couple more layers of harmonies, remixed the whole thing and bam—!! That’s pretty much the version you’re hearing here (save for some minor last minute lyric error fixes and mix changes).
Except all that happened around August and then I never touched it again whoops
I originally wanted to get this video done in time for Fukase’s anniversary this year, but January hit me hard and I couldn’t really ground myself long enough to get some art done and do a basic sub. I’d wanted to make another lipsync PV with a bunch of cool movements and effects (maybe a little more complex than the secret ごめんね PV), but when After Effects expired, all hopes of that went down the drain. I spent a lot of months dreading working on it because I’d built up such a huge expectation for myself on it and I knew I couldn’t meet it.
Then came last week—started on a different Fukase cover, really wanted to upload it, but told myself that Monster Crush had to be the first Fukase solo work on my channel, and somehow that gave me enough motivation to throw out all the ideas I’d had before and make something simple instead. Working with AviUtl was a bit of a pain (considering there's no interpolation curves as near as I can tell) but I think I managed well enough.
I’ve never really drawn intense forced perspective before! It was honestly kinda difficult and I still can’t tell if it works or not. Ten million references and experimental sketches only helped to a certain point w. Regardless, I had a lot of fun finally getting to draw the Fuka bean. Definitely a change of pace, and a good exercise at that!!
And I had a lot of fun on this cover, too!! It was a nice, easy tune and honestly really relaxing to do. While Fukase’s vowels can be a little strange and his long s/sh sets can be a bother, it’s honestly all worth it to finally have a bank with a powerful upper range //and// a cross-synth-able whisper bank. Fukase’s a good bean! A good red boy!! Cherish him!!

So!! In all honesty, I legitimately did not have anything planned for the ZOLA anniversary after my VRoid project fell apart. My goal was to just celebrate on my own and hope I could make up for missing their tenth by doing something intense either next year or the following.
Except then the ZOLA countdown on twitter made me unexpectedly emotional, ZOLA talk banks got announced, the entire ZOLA fandom rose from the dead, and Yamaha dropped ZOLA V6. I was legitimately so overcome by agony and regret that I couldn't help but frantically try to put something together in spite of the mere days I had before the deadline—and what better song to use than the one song that reminds me most of the height of summer?
This cover is actually an old one—I started it in early 2020 and actually had my "final" mix done by December of the same year, but my PV plans had been so ambitious (read: I had a whole animatic storyboarded and then some) that I burnt out and ended up tabling it for a long while. Sometime in 2022 I realized the mixing was nowhere near where I needed it to be, so I scrapped it and hoped one day I'd have the strength to try again from scratch.
Except then 5 days before the ZOLA anniversary I frantically unearthed it, polished it as fast and as hard as I could in Logic (a process that was complicated by the fact that I'm finally using new, proper HD studio headphones), and then all but tripped over myself trying to slam dunk it into AviUtl with a bit of artwork.
(It's a wonder I didn't hit my head—/smacked)
So now you're hearing it ! ! ! With a PV that is nowhere near as ambitious as the one I'd planned, but arguably is much more fun and aesthetically pleasing w. I challenged myself to stick to the visual style as much as possible (meaning no flashes, soft glows, or other "halfway there" effects), and I feel that it all worked out for the better and made a really visually cohesive PV.
And a PV that's built entirely using AviUtl at that!! No MME, stock footage, or AnimeEffects used—just Krita assets animated using AviUtl presets which, frankly, was an interesting task to tackle considering how often I rely on other software to "spice up" AviUtl's look. It kind of makes me want to make more PVs that rely on specific vanilla animation presets rather than trying to cobble together more advanced once using all manners of AviUtl alchemy.
In any event, that's enough of my rambling for now. Ten years of ZOLA Project gone by in a flash, and now a whole future ahead of them on a new engine. I don't know if the me of 2013 could have ever predicted how the ZOLAs would be faring a decade later, but I have no doubt they'd be overcome by just how many people now love and cherish them.

Snappy one-liners aside, hello! It's been a long ten years! It's been such a long ten years that I don't know how many of you actually know that I got my start working with vocal synths via UTAU w
SALVADOR was the first UTAU library I ever recorded—designed to add a voice to an older chat-bot OC I'd dreamed up earlier that year at the encouragement of my friend Cosmic, who, herself, voiced her own UTAU, Ayano. Prior to SALVADOR, my vocal synth knowledge consisted of maybe ten? Twelve Miku originals max? But Cosmic let me in on the UTAU secret and helped provide me with the resources to get started.
So I hunkered down with my laptop on the floor of my closet and blew through a reclist with minimal preparation, running the samples through Garageband until I had Salvador ACT 1—a buzzy, heavily accented library that delighted me immensely, but was quickly overtaken by Crevan, who originated as a failed attempt to update the old man and fix his more obvious issues (like the fact that he didn't have a ひ sample somehow?).
As you can tell by the fact that Crevan was a failed Salvador ACT 2 and that she was released a mere 2 months after ACT 1, I've been meaning to update SALVADOR pretty much since day one, but his voice has proven to be a pretty elusive tone to replicate. Given that I'd since changed mics, lost his original files, moved recording spaces, lost access to //any// recording space, and had my voice drop and octave or two, for a long while it felt like a SALVADOR update was little more than a pipe dream.
That is, until I found a used tablet, a USB to Lightning converter, and found out I could load my car down with towels and blankets to get a semi-serviceable recording booth.
Recording this library was hell ! ! ! I won't lie ! ! ! Never record outside in August ! ! ! Between the fact that it was a sweltering 80+ degrees in my car even as a I recorded in the dead middle of the night and that I was using the top of my range to replicate an airy head voice I hadn't had in a decade, it's amazing this library even exists. I originally recorded a total of four pitches with hopes of making a true powerscale (the remnants of which now exist in the form of the Expression Tool Kit), but only one actually sounded like the original ACT 1—and even then, it had to be edited heavily to achieve a unified tone.
And yet, even in spite of the struggle, I can say more than anything else I'm glad as hell that I decided to go through with this. It feels good to give some appreciation to the library that effectively served as my gateway into vocal synth. Just looking at my very first cover video and comparing it to what I'm capable of now, it feels surreal. So much has changed in ten years and I can't help but thank UTAU for helping me get there.
And Cosmic!! You're literally the reason I make vocal synth covers in the first place!! I'm fighting you endlessly and also bullying you into updating Ayano as well!!
That all being said, it feels good to use UTAU again! I definitely can't imagine myself switching back to using it full time (not when the ZOLAs exist and Synth V is testing the fortitude of my wallet w), but good god I missed using it and feeling a part of the community. I've started following UTAU tags again and searching up release videos and covers and it just makes me unbelievably excited and glad to be back, especially with my own UTAU in hand. Same vibes as drawing with your friends on old oekaki boards w

Outside of that, it suddenly occurs to me that unless you were following me pre-2013, most people on this channel probably haven't seen my animation things? And to be fair, I haven't done much animation since I lost access to Flash circa 2015 or so—and this is certainly the most ambitious thing I've done since then!!—but it's nice to finally be able to share one of my Pencil2D projects w Please enjoy the spoils of my solid week of work w
That being said, there's definitely a bit of context to be had here. If you're active in the vocal synth community there's a good chance you've run across rice/rice_deity and their work at some point, whether through their PVs, ask blogs, webcomic world building, or other miscellaneous projects.
Back in September I had a dream that they'd come up with a new AU for one of their ask blogs and that I'd finally taken the dive and made my own blog to participate in the story line, which took the form of a decommissioned KYO android who'd become a journalist after a faulty voice chip cut their idol career short (you can find that original thread here: twitter.com/miodiodavinci/status/1433523343467048962 ).
Except rice drew a literally iconic response to my KYO doodle ( twitter.com/rice_deity/status/1437522512255066119 ) and I loved it so much I immediately started working on a talkloid for it because I Actually Make A Great Deal of Talkloids I Just Never Show Them™ and I really wanted to get a rough concept going for what Journalist KYO's voice would sound like (and here was the perfect opportunity ! ! ! ) w
and well i got to the mixing stage and then uni proceeded to eat up every single moment of free time i had so i had to put the project on hold (along with that one i teased back in december—which i'm finally back to making progress on, by the way!!)
But now it's here ! ! ! Frantically put together in the single week of time I had between finishing the ZOLA Pride Knight stickers (which you can find here by the way whoops: redbubble.com/people/miodiodavinci/shop?asc=u ), working on the aforementioned teaser project, and deep cleaning our house for five consecutive 8 hour days.
Does this count as a proper ZOLA anniversary milestone? It does in my book! It may not be music, but I've got something to show for my effort and that's really what matters to me w. Besides—if I manage to play my cards right and my next year of uni isn't total hell, I should have something a bit bigger in store next year (which—incidentally—will probably be the last time I'll do an anniversary).

So then! Another year, another set of tears w (both VY2's and mine). Confusion is a song I've wanted to cover for the longest time, along with the rest of the -Infinity- series, so when I finally stumbled across a .UST with the right tempo, I was determined to go through with it and have fun (thank you, KIRA!!) ! ! !
This cover started out as something I planned to either keep for myself or use to practice keeping my PVs simple but, as you can see, I failed both those endeavors pretty quickly w. My original goals were to replicate the original vocals as closely as I could and essentially create a fun still image to slap a visualizer behind, but one thing led to another and I realized that:
1.) the VY2 anniversary was fast incoming and I had nothing else prepared for it 2.) I desperately wanted to put AnimeEffects to use for once seeing as I've been having fun with it for a while 3.) I finally got my hands on a ton of new AviUtl plugins that are compatible with my system, so I was determined to give them a go
Which leads us to where we are now w
Editing this PV was definitely a challenge! And definitely my most ambitious project to date by sheer virtue of how much work went into making everything dynamic. Neither AviUtl nor my computer were particularly happy, and I had a number of limitations to deal with (like how despite being a 5 second loop, that VY2 animation apparently took up so much project memory that I couldn't add in the paper animation I'd made on the same file—thank god for some of those new plug-ins). Toss in the fact that I've been dealing with legitimately the most hellish finals season I've had in a long while and uh. Things got tough pretty fast w.
(and uh not at all helped by the fact that this translation was hard to parse and my attempts at making singable lyrics dissolved pretty much instantly so probably do not trust these translyrics by any means)
That being said!! I'm proud of how it turned out!! I love that I managed to place some easter eggs and get some really illustrative frames in there, and I love that it feels like my tuning's moving forward again—even if only by a little bit. I do want to think about pulling back and focusing on the basics for whatever comes next but. well.

Either way, yes, I understand the irony of covering this particular song, but—hey. We don't have to think too deep into the meta lore w.

So here you have it: the combined result of simultaneously releasing myself from the perpetual guilt of my ever growing WIP list and yet also cutting my usual production time in half thanks to the VY2 anniversary eating into my pre-June prep window―which all in all pretty much equaled out to "wow this is probably the most visually put together PV i've made in a long time but oh g o d i really wish i had had more time so i wouldn't have had to commit so hard and so fast to so much dumb stuff" ww
This project definitely had its ups and downs (and honestly a few more downs than ups once I moved out of the tuning stage), but―!! Point's moot now that it's done and uploaded, and frankly it'd probably be a more productive use of my time to stop worrying about how I'm going to "fix" everything in the next one and start focusing on getting rid of the next biggest weight on my shoulders: i.e. the ugly little comment goblin in my brain that assumes everyone will be immensely unimpressed and super critical of anything I do, and thus I should overwork myself to compensate (this is false and I'm coming for it with a brick).
That aside, however, One of Repetition is definitely one of my older favorites, and it was はるはる's hand-drawn PV that originally made me fall in love with it (as you can probably tell w). Given that the only existing translations are Hazuki no Yume's and an outdated, possibly machine-translated one from 2011, I decided to try my hand at writing some translyrics for the occasion w. That being said, it really doesn't hit you how sad this song is until you're trying to figure out how to fit "you literally strung me along and fed me just enough of what I wanted to hear so you could reap the benefits of having an SO without actually committing to one" into 13 syllables or less w.
That being said, I'm definitely not a lyricist!! And I respect the people who do this on a regular occasion immensely!! Because it only took me three lines before I felt like I was writing a poor excuse for a knock-off nursery rhyme!! These translyrics are very much being drawn and quartered between my attempts at maintaining rhyme, accuracy, and rhythm, and accuracy definitely took a bit of a blow in that department hehehh ; ;
(Which is a fancy way of saying Please Understand These Are Loose Translyrics And Not A One-To-One Translation Oh God™)
Feel free to try them out if you'd like, but there's no guarantee they're properly fitted or easy on the vocal cords considering they were drafted about four or five days ago whoops.

Admittedly, I didn't intend for them to take so many work hours over the past few months. If I'm being real, this whole project—delays included—is half the result of a busy class schedule and half the result of changing plans just a few too many times and paying the price as a result hhh

So I may or may not be kicking myself just a tiny bit.
But ! ! ! Even in spite of all the heartache ! ! ! I still managed to put together a couple of sick Packaged!VY models ! ! ! And I feel proud of that ! ! ! Working with Vroid rigs may feel like the MMD equivalent of pulling teeth at times, but I managed to at least get them working enough to put on a show w
And speaking of ! ! ! ! Making them work ! ! ! ! A massive shoutout to Mayday for rigging the physics on both of these bad boys ! ! ! ! ! Physics have always been the bane of my existence when it comes to MMD, so having his help on that was truly a life saver hhh
Admittedly, I may have had to do some pretty ridiculous things behind the scenes to help make sure these two could handle all the teleports and spins this motion has to offer, but , , , , nobody has to know w Especially considering it might be a while before either of these two are released—if at all—given that they are very rushed and very lacking in the normal polish I like to put on these sorts of things w
All being said, though, I'm definitely at least a little proud of the fact that this is pretty much my first legitimate MMD PV, given that my last public MMD upload was somewhere in the ballpark of 2012, and I've always dreamed of using AviUtl to put together something with a bit of a story w I feel like the red diamonds work out to be a nice aesthetic, even if half of them are so buried in artifacts you can hardly pick them out haha
But ! ! ! I had fun ! ! ! Adding extra expressions and animating the little interlude segments ! ! ! Little details like VY2's face softening when they look at VY1 ! ! ! Or VY1's eyes drifting over whenever one of his solos starts ! ! ! And even if the color balance continues to elude me and Youtube continues to insist on crunching the hell out of this, I hope you'll enjoy them too w

Hello, all! This is not the 50,000 subscriber milestone video that was mentioned in my last post w. Rather, say hello to an "easy and for fun" cover I started and mixed back in 2018 and then just never did the art for because my garbage brain was convinced it was a Recipe For Bad Emotions That Must Be Avoided At All Costs™ and that therefore I would need to commission someone else if I ever wanted to make this cover happen.
... Except then thanks to the pandemic I had a narrow brush with the concept of death and it kicked me into full body panic mode, forcing me to bite the bullet and just get things done on the off chance everything went so far south there was no longer a Mio to speak of haha whoops w
So long story short, let it be known that Mio has such a garbage brain it takes the very threat of death to force them to actually finish what they've started w. I love being mentally ill w.
That aside, though, first and foremost, I'd like to say a huge thanks to Eddie and their family for helping me with the translation for this cover ! ! ! I'd really gotten stuck trying to move on from my rough draft, but they were able to pick up on a lot of what I was missing and put together a smooth and poetic translation—so thanks again a a a ! ! !

Gone now are the days of me having to create group controls and manually time 6+ midpoints in order to create a basic ease,,,, Now, all it takes is a few clicks and a couple keystrokes and I'm all set to create lively, smooth as butter PVs complete with custom circle bursts and motion assets nyeheheh
Literally!! Outside of the dark red circle bursts used in the grayscale portion at the start of the PV, everything else was made by yours truly!! And I'm real proud of myself for it!! I haven't felt this excited about a PV since I worked on UNI, and I think that says something about what it's like to discover new AviUtl functions w
And speaking of the PV, I tried my hand at going for a limited "CMYK" inspired palette, with Fukase's signature red taking the place of the M w. The yellow might have come out a bit on the "highlighter" spectrum of things, but it made me happy and thus it's in the PV w.
It was definitely a challenge trying to figure out how to effectively situate and balance everything in the frame, especially considering how the main artwork was drawn without a proper thumbnail in mind, but all in all, I feel like it turned out well!! I'm happy with this PV, and I'm glad I was able to get myself to finish it, even if it took many nights of open faced sobbing at my desk to get me there w.

Typically whenever I'm tuning something with VY2, there's inevitably going to be a point where I drop everything, load up falsetto on the file, and see how it sounds w Doesn't always work given that his falsetto's optimal range is pretty narrow—even with key adjustments—but surprisingly, this time it managed to work, and thus here we are w
I'll admit that the mixing for this one was mostly an afterthought and doesn't have nearly the same polishing work as the original (in fact, a lot of the harmonies and backing vocals are just the ones I used in the VY2 cover—there's not a whole lot that's been swapped out beyond the main vocals, the first set of harmonies, and one of the support tracks). That being said though, I did appreciate that some of the finer details in the tuning came out a little better with the falsetto bank, and the mixing definitely ended up a bit lighter crisper.
I think more than anything I just wanted an excuse to do the pink palette swap again because I love soft pinks and I love messing around with Packaged!VY2's color palette and design w

Remember how I missed the VY2 anniversary this year because I was super stressed and just didn't vibe with any of the WIPs I'd been working on after being forced to scrap upwards of 7 of them for one reason or another?? Except then literally within a week of missing the actual date I suddenly unlocked a hidden power and suddenly started rocketing through my WIPs with unprecedented speed, hence the triple upload for the ZOLA anniversary??
Turns out this was one of the WIPs that got finished during that span of time, and in a sudden fit of anxiety-driven Adult Life™ avoidance earlier this week, I slam dunked myself into my desk chair, threw together a fast cover art, banged out a PV, and now here we are w
This also may or may not be another case of Doll and Left Eye vs. Monster Crush wherein I've got a newer, super fast, for fun cover that I want to upload but know I have other projects I need to upload first and thus here's the belated VY2 anniversary video w. It's anyone's guess whether or not I'll actually be able to get done with that for fun upload before the several month long burnout hits, but it's a nice possibility to think about w
Other than that!! About all I have to say is that this was probably my first serious attempt at mixing in Logic, which was no small task considering the original has a very specific sound to it (that I was unfortunately unable to capture OTL not that this sound is bad or anything, but I definitely have a particular soft spot in my heart for the original balance w).
Figuring out a cover art was definitely a bit of fun considering the minimalistic style that seems to be あめのむらくもP's signature, but I ended up aiming for a limited palette look based on the original title work. The kaleidoscope backing accents was something of a happy accident at first, but honestly, I love the way it looks ! ! !
Overall, I sort of ended up aiming for a more "mature" and "restrained" style of PV without as much movement or special effects or whatnot, which also helped reduce the production time and let me focus more on getting out before I could second guess myself w
I feel like this was a fun change of pace!! I've learned a lot about Logic and modified pitch-snap tuning since making this cover, and I feel like it'll be nice to apply that knowledge to the next project as well!!

So!! Beginner VOCALOID fan Mio's very first Deco*27 song!! A song they'd been wanting to cover since before they even made their very first UTAU!! And also a WIP that has been sitting around for god knows how long and I figured I might as well finish now than never because it was the only thing I could motivate myself to do with enough momentum that I knew it would get done no matter what!!
Let me just say that the signature early Deco*27 Miku vocals combined with the blasting rock chorus backings easily slid this song into young Mio's top 10 VOCALOID songs list (along with a certain relevance to IRL feelings and OC story things), and it basically never left once it got there w. Young Mio at one point even tried to create a fan PV featuring their OCs, but unfortunately the file was lost in the tragic Laptop Repair Episode Of 2011.
Believe it or not, I actually had this cover―like I said―sitting around half tuned for months (essentially just basic pitch-snapped vocals and a couple of harmony tracks), and then in one sitting managed to finish tuning it, put together a mix, and exported the final mastered product, complete with fancy file names and everything.
Which, in all, was under 24 hours.
A,,,,,,shocking, unprecedented record for me, given that I'm someone who typically takes about a week //minimum// to finish mixing something (which I haven't done since the Stickybug cover w) and only managed to get WIL's cover done in 3 days when I was working at maximum efficiency w
I don't know whether to blame the fact that younger Mio had been wanting to cover this song from the day they heard it and realized it //could// be covered, or the fact that literally one of the biggest requests I get nowadays is people asking when I'm going to use YUU w
(i have used him!! twice!! but he didn't get a fancy cover design in either of them so i guess people just forget those usages exist w)
But!! Either way!! I am!! excited and delighted to see this finished!! Especially alongside the other two covers!! I feel like it's probably one of the cleanest and most enticing cover arts I've done so far, and I'm super proud of how the mixing and tuning turned out!!
(Also, I feel like the very real obsession I had with HAJI*P's hand-drawn PV back in the day definitely shines through on this video―and it wouldn't be a vintage Deco*27 PV if it didn't have scissors and inverted colors, would it w??)

So, remember how I missed out on the VY2 anniversary this year because I had to scrap so many WIPs and felt like I couldn't live up to expectations??
Well, turns out letting down those expectations literally unleashed a previously unprecedented wave of kinetic energy in my soul that gave me the power to finally learn Logic and finish six WIPs in the span of one month.
That's powerful, man.
Somehow, despite the ever-present hell that is being locked at home and yet still required to finish hours worth of lab work and essay writing, all whilst being crushed under ten million deadlines and college transfer requirements, I managed to follow through on the decision I made sometime back at the start of May to finally go through with doing an equal love anniversary this year with the caveat that I'd do only the bare minimum for each cover.
Each stage of each of these covers was done in under a week (sans the mixing for this one, which took a little over a week due to V5 Hell™) during the busiest part of the semester, so honestly ! ! ! I'm pretty proud of myself for them turning out as well as they did ! ! !
That being said, this year's anniversary theme (aside from finishing up loose WIPs and finally spreading out the anniversary love evenly for once w) seems to be "first [insert producer's name] song I ever listened to," so here we are with a vintage Pinocchio-P song!! This is actually another case along the lines of Wavefile where I started working on the tuning way back in my early ZOLA days and just... didn't end up picking up again until just recently. Gotta say―this was definitely a lot easier to tune once pitch snap became a thing and I could spend more time honing in on the pronunciation and fun pitchbends as opposed to fighting KYO tooth and nail to keep him from sounding drunk, pained, and gaspy. And it,,,,,,also helped that I finally had access to an in-editor distortion filter via V5 so I could spend less time futzing with his tone pre-mixing and more time tuning overall skjghlsdkjf
Like, if I'm being honest? Literally the distortion filter (which was only used during tuning and is not present here) and some of the growl/shout effects are the only reason this was tuned in V5 instead of V4 because b o y did V5 give me hell when it came time to mix skdjglkdsf
Honestly, out of all the covers this round, this is probably the one that started off the most "for fun" (I actually first picked it up again sometime last year because I ran into Rinniin's cover and was reminded of my own WIP and felt nostalgic over it ksdjghldkfj) but ended up being The Biggest Pain™ once it came time to mix and make the cover art. But, as if to make up for it, it ended up being the video I had the most fun on!! As you can tell I learned some new AviUtl effects in my absence and //god// if I'm not going to put them to use!! Y'all are going to be sick of speed lines and fake LCD display effects by the time you're done with this w
Like, I'll be real, this is probably the most fun I've had on a PV since the UNI PV, which is saying something, because the UNI PV filled me with an inordinate amount of joy before I uploaded it and realized a whole set of subtitles was wrong w. Let's hope this one doesn't follow in its footsteps ! ! !
Basically, long story short, what started out as picking up an old WIP with the intent to just finish it up for personal listening purposes ended up becoming a high speed, full-fledged cover effort in tandem with two others that resulted in one of the most painful mixes but most fun PVs I've worked on in a while w
So then!! Wanderlast!! Maybe not the first sasakure.UK song I ever listened to, but definitely the first I actually associated with their name (i.e. younger mio was bad about keeping track of producer names, as evident by the fact that i didn't even realize rotten heresy and chocolate was by pinocchio-P until just last year kshgskdjf)
As part of the whole "finishing up WIPs and equally distributing the love this time around," I went head and buckled down and decided to finish working on this cover given that missing the VY2 anniversary had given me enough relief and courage to dive into learning how to use Logic. There was definitely a lot of trial and error involved in working on this one (including some regret in the case of only figuring out Logic's pitch editor after I'd exported the main acapella and brought it back in to be decimated for the glitch portions), but I think in all this was a fantastic break through and learning experience!!
This was also the first time I started off my cover art process with a colored thumbnail!! Which definitely lended itself well to giving me a basic palette to do some rendering with!! I've never really painted over a sketch like this before, but honestly it was super fun ! ! ! And I ended up feeling super proud of myself for a solid month ! ! ! Which was definitely a nice change of pace w
Funny story, I actually first learned about this song through a friend who mentioned how it always managed to tear them up, and sure, for a long time it always left me feeling a bit sad and full of yearning, but actually going through and covering it?? And working on making singable English lyrics?? Immediately destroyed me with the sheer amount of tenderness and now I am No Longer Okay™
And speaking of singable English lyrics―so when it came to subbing, I couldn't find a working translation (in part because Hazuki no Yume's had been taken down and all others I could find were just reprints of that translation hh) and ended up happening across LilyCelebi's singable translyrics. I was honestly floored by how sweet they were, but ended up editing some of them a bit and replacing a few lines with my own to reflect the original timing / lyrics a bit more (i actually inputted everything into vocaloid as i went, so they should fit each line syllable for syllable!!). You can,,,, definitely tell which are mine by seeing which ones are a lot less eloquent and melodic and consist solely of one syllable words because I Am Not Good With My Vocabulary w

I'm not quite sure what else to say in terms of this cover other than that . . . . in general I learned a lot and had a ton of fun and feel pretty proud of what I've accomplished this round w. There are definitely parts of each cover that could use some polishing and fine tuning, but given the fact that I did all three concurrently with each other during the busiest part of the semester?? Underneath crushing deadlines and transfer things?? I'd say I deserve to give myself a little pat on the back for that w

FJKLHSFKJSFH That aside this cover is!! Now officially one year in the making!! I started this whole mess on July 24, 2018, and now here we are―one year later, and good god was it a disaster the entire way w
While the main vocal track went through several passes, eventually honing in that English pronunciation as best I could through the help of low OPE notes, plenty of [ - ] connectors, and lots and lots of consonant fudging, managing all four sets of harmonies quickly got out of control ; ; ;
One of the biggest problems I ran into was just that at some point during the initial beta mix stage, I had a ton of renders I'd made on the fly and a million tracks with minute adjustments, and before I knew it dealing with the GB file was near impossible without having to re-render and re-mix near every track every time I wanted to make a change, so it ended up being that while the main vocals got more and more polished over time, the harmonies basically stayed the same as when I first tuned them w
As a result there's still a ton of muddy sections where the pronunciation isn't great (most notably there I originally used [ sh ] in place of [ th ] and later replaced it with [ f ] but only on the main vocals sdfjkghl) but honestly ! ! ! It's good enough to get the job done, so it's time to get this monster out of my hair ! ! ! !
To be honest, even //beginning// to approach KIRA's tuning was a challenge in and of itself, and dealing with the mixing on top of it changed this cover from a struggle to a nightmare, but all in all I'm glad it's finally done. It's hard to try to match up to a dark magic user like KIRA, but hopefully this cover at least has a little charm of its own!!
I had a lot of fun working on the module design for this PV!! It was a challenge to figure out how to make an outfit that fit the overall look I wanted KYO to have while still paying homage to GUMI's simple yet striking design. Does he look like a punk clown?? Absolutely. But who's going to be the one to say it to his face? w

It's the ZOLA anniversary once again!! And as any good, dutiful ZOLA owner should, I evenly spread my love generously between all three boys and not just my obvious favorite―/joke
Jokes aside, I really did hope on this year being the year I finally went through with my plans to pump out three separate covers, one for each boy, all with a fun corresponding "w" theme between them, but things sort of fell through on account of the pressure school put on me toward the end of the semester, and I ended up having to put the other two aside for another day.
But!! The work that I put in wasn't for nothing!! If I ever get a chance to get back to it, all I need is to mix one and finish the tuning on the other, and then two short videos later, they'll both be done!! So that definitely makes future anniversary plans a little easier w
As for what I did manage to put out, this is a song I've been wanting to cover with KYO practically since day one!! And I actually gave it a pretty good shot back in the day before I got tuckered out and put it off to the side for the next five years. The VSQx file got shelved, and for the longest time I didn't really feel like I had the endurance to tackle tuning the rest, until this year I finally decided to see how far my tuning's come and give it another go. Fun fact: the render you hear in the video was made off the original file I worked on in 2014!! A lot of the old pitchbends and little flairs are still there, only now they're drowning in the usual notebending mess I like to make w.
I tried my best at leaving KYO's samples alone for the most part, so it sounds just the //slightest// bit different than something like Ai Kotoba where practically every note was composed of a short consonant note followed by a pure vowel. Also, I threw in a little GEN editing while I was at it!! It's not much, but it makes a halfway decent effect when compared to without w
also i told myself this entire time i was going to keep this simple and yet w
At the very least, I managed not to get caught up on the LipSync renders, if only because setting up the model in 3/4ths view was difficult to begin with, and the setup I used to time and merge it to the base artwork in AviUtl was exasperating to work with―so it's definitely a little choppier and "lofi" than Donut Hole or even Ai Kotoba w
But!! Did you see those little extra animations?? It was my first time doing something like that in LipSync!! The effect probably would have worked out a little more if I'd drawn the frames in an actual animation program where I could flip back and forth to check the movement, but for being thrown together in Krita last minute, they ain't too bad!!
Hoo!! I feel sort of silly and maybe a little embarrassed, but when don't I, to be honest? I'm throwing out this KYO to the world!! I went wild and gave him a real disaster design (not nearly as much of a disaster as it was going to be, though―sleeveless vest over a bright striped tank top, anyone?? i even spared you the silly headset he originally had w) and I chose a bunch of colors I liked for the PV!! Someone out there's gotta like this, so might as well put it out there and hope it brightens up their day!!

Hello!! I've forgotten how to write descriptions!! That aside!! I don't have much to say this time around!! It's just been another round of putting things off until the last minute and just settling with whatever I can get!! w
There's definitely a couple things I wish I could have gone back and fine tuned, but honestly it wasn't even worth the effort after a certain point w I'm deciding it's better to just give it a shot and call it a day than spend months on end agonizing over the tiniest details that'll only make a subtle audible difference for only a fraction of a second or more w And honestly, for such an iconic Hachi song complete with that incredibly difficult to replicate early-Hachi "double voice" effect, I'd say this is good enough w
That being said, I at least had a little fun with this!! I tried something new with the art and kept it simple (plus put some loving detail into that silky smooth mile-long ponytail w), and I had a lot of fun drawing the mural background and adding in all sorts of little details. I decided to dial things back a bit with the PV for the most part (though everyone knows it isn't a miodiodavinci pv if it doesn't include some strange sudden cutscene sequence towards the climax of the song w).
I ended up going with a higher key just for the sake of forcing out a little more power dynamics out of this boy?? Sort of in the sense that he already struggled //just// a bit in the original key, so I figured hey why not just push it all the way?? w The original key was definitely more harmonic, but a lot harder to mix overall for some reason, so here we are w
Also, the english lyrics are singable, believe it or not!! (or at least they should be in theory w) They're primarily based on vgperson's original set, with some edits based on rachie's version and a couple other changes just for the sake of flow and clarity. The original translation felt just a tiny bit clunky?? and I thought using the singable version might be sort of fun, so there you have it!! (plus it was slightly easier to switch up the pronouns mentioned in the song because before it was a little mixed up w)
Either way, that's that!! Chances are I'm going to disappear again until the ZOLA anniversary, and from there, who even knows if I'll be back next year w Don't go worrying about me just because I'm not uploading though VOCALOID's just a side hobby of mine in the end, you know? w Just because I'm not burning myself out spending months at a time on something that's only going to last ~5 minutes at most doesn't mean I've ceased to exist w I'm just off engaging in personal projects that make me a whole lot happier and more fulfilled with only a tenth of the stress required w

It’s finally here!! The ZOLAs are now five years old!! And I’ve never been more emotional while working on a project!! I swear I must of choked up at least twenty or thirty times throughout the process!! And while I’m sad to say that like last year’s anniversary, I ended up only using KYO, what can I say when I’ve been a permanent resident of KYO Hell™ since 2013? w
As per usual, originally I had another couple songs in mind―one of which was one of the first ones I ever made a VSQx for, actually―but one would have been taken down immediately by Youtube’s region blocking and the other had a tone felt just a bit too bittersweet for something like today. I’ll cover both eventually!! But today is not that day!!
Did I decide to cover this one entirely because of the fifth birthday line? that was definitely the tiebreaker yes w But to be fair, I have been thinking about covering this one for forever (though I thought I would have gotten around to covering the original ai kotoba first w)
In honor of the birthday spirit, I’ll keep the usual moaning and griping about deadlines and the disasters I went through to a minimum: long story short, mixing took about eight or nine attempts, I went through three or four different PV ideas, and essentially ended up scrapping about 90% of what I had planned, and even then AviUtl fought me the entire way (and don’t even get me started on the fact that Pencil 2D is a pain to draw in w) And yet, I’m still here and on time!! So that has to count for something, right?
Honestly though, I could go on about this project forever w. The finished product is sort of the end result of trying to cobble together what I could of what I’d made so far without having to waste more time trying to add on more bells and whistles (I was i n t e n s e l y close to using MMD to make a mock puppet tool for the hair and bow but sdjfgkhlkdfg). Given that I ended up putting so much work into the background elements, I went in a bit of a different direction with the PV that I think kind of blends together the style of my Plane Theory video with my Donut Hole PV. Honestly, I wish I could have pushed the comparisons a little closer and made day/night/season variations on the main tree background, but, again, I had to make the most with what I had w.
All in all, I feel like this really worked out!! Normally when I make PVs with Lipsync I tend to get embarrassed and scrap the whole thing (hence why there’s a secret alternate pv for the gomen’ne cover w), but this time around, I think it was a good blend. Even without the full scribble animated PV (which would have been done in the style of the ending doodle) or the added 3D layering effect on KYO, it’s still a nice video.
note to self though both aviutl and my computer are very much Not™ made for layering on twenty billion effects and trying to replicate the look of 3D shading so stick to the simple 2D stuff sdgjhldfkj
I think overall though I sort of consider this a bit of a love letter to my experience with VOCALOID as a whole and honestly, I really hope in the coming year I can get back to a spot where I can make the content that first inspired me to start making covers of my own. Despite how much I might stress myself out over meeting deadlines and making everything perfect, when done simply, VOCALOID really is something I enjoy, and I want nothing more than to make more things that I can look back on and smile.
With that said, don’t expect anything of this level of effort ever again!! I’m slam-dunking myself into 2009 after this!! It’s time to tone things back!! Yeehaw!!

i feel like this isn’t my best work, honestly especially considering otetsu’s original tuning was really loose and powerful and if there’s one thing i haven’t figure out yet it’s loose and powerful (at least without going into straight up over-tuning w)
also i only found out last minute that of the english translations out there, half of them were machine translated or built off of said machine translated ones and the author of the most accurate one (hazuki no yume) asked that their translation not be used for subbing so i had to crack open a couple JP to EN dictionaries and give it my best shot skjdfghlkjdfh
definitely not the most accurate or the most poetic translation but for the time i had it works sort of i might as well put out there //please don't reference or reuse this translation// because my comprehension is //not// the best and there's probably a good number of mistakes in this ksdfjhgl
i would have liked to have better credits to put down here but it seems that aside from hazuki no yume most of the translations were unsourced or had been reposted so many times it's impossible to tell who originally made it ;;

Would you look at that!! It’s WIL!! And it’s Halloween!! And for the first time in 5 years I actually went ahead and made a special Halloween upload!! And just like the 2012 one, I ended up super crunched for time and wanted to clip into a wall and cease to exist!!
It’s sort of funny―I originally started gearing up for this cover back in September right around when I finished the Donut Hole cover. Halloween was coming up, I still had momentum, and Candy Addicts was something I’d been planning on covering with WIL for a long time. I made thumbnails, played around with costume design, tested out WIL on the VSQx―the whole show. Of course, I also wanted to hit Friday the 13th with Doll and Left Eye, but even with that, it still left me with a couple weeks given that I’d already done all the tuning for that one.

This project honestly fought me at every step and it’s a miracle I even finished it ;; Trying to pick up the original tuning was a pain in and of itself, much less trying to fit it to my own style and make it sound decent. Add on top of that the fact that I’ve never really used WIL before and you’ve got a whole new set of problems, not to mention the trouble I had trying to make harmonies or even mix the darn thing. If I’d had more time, I would have loved to have covered this in either the original pitch or the +3 key instead, or even just given the mix more fine tuning, but a a a a a what can you do.
As for the art I’m a little embarrassed honestly ;; I made a bunch of mock-up sketches for the costume based on the one in the original PV, and eventually I settled on this one for a bit of an “old-timey candy baron” vibe. But later when I went looking for more references, I found Kaname’s KAITO design and realized I’d gone for the same concept without realizing ;; I tried to put my own twist on it and fit my design more to my usual WIL, but a a a a a a a a a
I did!! However!! Try to put my own spin on the PV overall!! At first I wanted to recreate something more like the original, but after a couple thumbnail drafts I landed on this setup and it just stuck. A couple elements didn’t make it into the final render, like some star decals and some moving elements, but I think it works out for the most part―less clutter and the like. I hope I’ve made a somewhat unique take!!
And as for the subtitles, I tried doing something a little new?? The direct Japanese to English translation was a little barebones and hard to work with, especially when it came to splitting up subs so the JP lines would fit properly. So instead I went ahead and referenced a couple different sets of translyrics and stitched together something that more echoes the general meaning/feel of each line rather than the word for word translation. It was definitely a lot easier and more enjoyable to work with!! And I got to have some fun with a couple of the lines in a way that I normally don’t get to do w
The lyrics are pretty rough overall, though, seeing as I only had enough time to give it one pass. I intentionally tried to limit any rhyming just because if one line rhymes, I’ve gotta do all of them, and I didn’t have enough time to try and figure out how to make each one work w
But!! Regardless!! At the very least!! I managed to get this done!! I put in a lot of late nights and played a bit of a dangerous game in trying to juggle this along with work and school, but it’s done and I’m glad!! It’s not exactly the way I imagined it’d be, but honestly!! I could care less at this point!! This is yet another cover I’m slam dunking onto Youtube!! AAA!!

This song is definitely an old favorite mine—if anyone remembers my old UTAU days, you might also remember when back in 2012 I covered this song with the first iteration of my personal voicebank. Also on Friday the 13th, believe it or not. At the time, it was something I was really proud of, even if my entire concept of tuning amounted to “stretch out the pitchbends and make really, really long portamento (for maximum smoothness!!).” I ended up listening to it again a couple months ago and figured, hey, I’m already on a retuning streak—why not give it another shot and see how much I’ve grown over the years? I mean tuning aside, the original cover definitely left something to be desired in terms of mixing and vocal quality w
This time around, it’s Fukase taking the lead!! I tried my best at adding in some dynamic pitchbends and some more dramatic vibratos, but I’ll admit the bends themselves aren’t exactly the most interesting choices w. I think that’s something I’ll learn the more I go along, which just means I need to keep at it and keep experimenting! I also gave 2 layered harmonies and different chords a bit of a shot, which is something you hear a bit more of in the Donut Hole cover (seeing as I made this one back in July and Donut Hole was August w).
I also tried handling him a bit more into his lower range!! I originally wanted to cover this at the original pitch, but while Fuka does have his charms that low, he also loses a lot of his clarity and starts distorting quite a bit. I had to bump it up a note or two in order to give him some respite, but not enough to end up quite in the same range as the Monster Crush cover.
That aside, I’ve been a bit busy between work and school, so I had to drop the PV back down to the usual Mio signature: “art assets wobbling on a static background” hehheh. I did, however, try to recreate a bit of the feeling of the original PV image along with adding in a bit of a "bottom lit box diorama" feel. Or maybe more like a paper-craft theater? Either way, as simple as it is, I hope you'll still enjoy it!!
I also took some creative liberties with the English subtitles?? t12111's translation was a little stiff and hard to work with at points?? So I ended up looking up some kanji and figuring out some alternate translations, but for the most part I have little faith in my edit orz

5000!! That’s a real big number!! I honest to goodness can’t even believe I broke it so quickly sdjhfkjsdf. It’s completely wild—I’d been sitting somewhere around 500 subscribers ever since VY2’s anniversary last year, and then back in August I dropped the Monster Crush cover and suddenly it skyrocketed within a week and I had no idea what to do about it. I’ve literally received more comments on Monster and I’m Sorry than any other video I’ve ever uploaded h o l
This was? originally?? supposed to be a 1000 subscriber milestone?? I started it practically the minute I got back from my trip and I got the tuning done lickety split, but the sub count was faster than I was, so 1000 got left in the dust shjkgldfshj
Part of the reason this took so long is I front loaded so much work into this darn project and ended up having to cut 90% of it out. I sort of panicked at the thought of doing something special, so my mind instantly went to “do the most,” and next thing I knew I’d planned out recreating the entirety of the original Donut Hole PV. Turns out that would have taken me ten million years and I needed to get on with my life sjhfglksdjf
I salvaged what I could, though! Took what was originally a turn-around and changed it into a LipSync rig and pulled out all the stops on it: multiple, moveable layers, a bunch of extra expressions, and even some eye animation thrown in. I really tried my hand at making as smooth animation as I could and using the program to its fullest extent, which in the end meant drudging through over 70 facial frames but sgjfhlskdf
i still should have made more eyebrow frames though w
The rig itself was definitely a challenge to work with, at least in AviUtl. Not having proper interpolation curves or working folders meant I had to manually sync up all the different parts whenever I wanted to move them, which really slowed down my progress overall.
In regards to the song, this one wasn’t really one I planned originally planned on covering! When it first came out, it took a while for it to grow on me, and by then the bandwagon had passed and I wasn’t really confident enough in my tuning yet to make it happen. However, all the note-bending experience from the I’m Sorry I’m Sorry cover helped prep me for the job, and I tackled it as best I could!!
Making the harmonies was something else all together heheh ;; I had a pretty hard time trying to make chords that fit the “feeling” of the original melody, and in the end I had to butcher my renders in my mixer to get them to the point where they sounded halfway decent. I cut out so much it’s not even funny honestly heheh ; ;
and honestly don’t even get me started on mixing i remade this thing like 20 times and i've lost all sense of what's right and wrong dsjghfl
I worked hard and it was a whole lot of effort, but I think it was worth it when it comes to giving a bit of thanks to all the people who decided to subscribe! The idea of one day having more than even 800 subscribers was something I never even thought of, and yet here we are.

I’ll admit, this version was entirely an afterthought. I’d run into a rough spot in the tuning and ended up playing around with my falsetto config instead. Next thing I knew I fell in love with that adorable little la li la pa pa, and I knew I //had// to make a falsetto cover to go along with the main bank version.
In the end I had to cross synth in the main bank in order to give the falsetto a little more stability and pronunciation strength on the lower notes, but it wasn’t much. Honestly makes for a much cuter tone, you know? You can still hear the normal falsetto in the “i’m worrying, i’m worrying” section if you want to compare.
In the end, the pitch is still a little unstable—turns out VY2V3_falsetto doesn’t take too kindly to pitch snap mode. But hey! Only adds to the cute factor, right?

Tuning this was a mixed bag of nuts! Some parts were really fun and I had a grand old time just blazing through it, and other points I honestly had no idea what to do. It’s a little more rushed than I would have liked it to be but that’s what happens when you’ve got about a week and a half to make an entire video and the other two covers you had planned turned out to be Not Particularly Thematically Appropriate™
I also tried to match the original timing as best as I could! But some points were just super fast and I didn’t have time to double check them ; ;
Good news is I tried to make up for all that with some sweet custom harmonies? They could probably use a second pass, but it’s good enough for now!!
One thing I did do in the mixing though is I sort of went back to an older style for the main vocals! Back in the day in order to get voices to be fuller, I’d actually use two tracks instead of one: one with the main vocal mixed how I liked it, and another sort of low, muffled, bass boosted version that helps fill in the bottom range. Really helps bring the voice out!
I do feel a little embarrassed though that I have yet to upload a VY2 cover that doesn’t use pitch snap mode, but worry not! I’ll get around to it someday!

I can’t believe so much time has passed already. I still remember that agonizing wait between the initial “special 10 year anniversary celebration” announcement and their first demo. I don’t know what I was expecting up until then, but it definitely wasn’t this bunch of nerds.
The first time I ran into this song was with Hinkey’s UTAU cover with Mizuki Zuiga (found here: youtube.com/watch?v=EBY6q8VfrIc), and before I knew it I was listening to it on repeat. I always planned on covering this, but I figured I’d wait until I had a more powerful voice-type to do it.
Turns out with the right tuning and enough of them singing together, the ZOLAs could handle it!
Originally I planned out a "larger" PV for this, but I completely neglected to consider how long it’d take me to get the art assets done and how hard it would be to get myself to work on them in the first place. I think deadline panic kind of did me in heheh;

Got to admit, I didn't realize his release anniversary was today until about two days ago, and from there it was a frantic, stressful race to try to get something done in time. It meant sacrificing some sleep, but it's not every day a sword turns five.

Either way, it's pretty obvious looking at the actual file that this was started in V3 and finished in V4. Prior to turning on pitch snap, he was actually set up to mimic the autotune fairly well! And I would have kept it that way if I had had more time to actually tune but

Kind of a quick fun cover I started a while back. I remember listening to this song a lot in the early days of my VOCALOID obsession, so its got a bit of nostalgia for me. Ran into it a couple weeks ago, spur of the moment decided to cover it, and what do you know—I managed to finish and upload. That's a success in my book.
This is probably the third VSQx I've made (not that I've actually posted anything with the other two), and the first one I made in VOCALOID4. All the ZOLAs behave a little differently in the V4 environment, but not so much that it's too noticeable. For KYO it's mainly that his range is a little higher and his vowels are slightly more nasal—but hey. Still sounds decent enough.
I tried out a slightly different style of tuning this time around—a lot of extreme notebending as opposed to my usual parameter nonsense. Makes the pitch transitions a little sharper, eh?

I'm just-- I don't even want to touch it anymore. I've been forcing myself to work on it ever since I missed the potential Halloween update. And now that I'm done, good riddance. Now I can get back to modeling and texturing. And potentially animating.
As you can tell by the shading, everything after the line art was pretty rushed and half-hearted. I didn't even spend any time really replicating the characteristic messiness of DWC. I just wanted to get it done before it was too far past Halloween.

This was originally supposed to be an After Effects PV, believe it or not. However, the moment I started to work on it, I was assigned around seven projects. So, sadly, I just lost the motivation to do it.
I mean, I'm so done with this cover I didn't even bother with subtitles. Just cover art.
Argh. I need to work on more UTAU covers...

And spent even longer fitting them to the .ust so they'd sound absolutely perfect? Making them sing at their very best? And then you felt so proud of them afterwards and almost thought they covered the song better than the original singer sang it?
Well, I did the complete opposite.
I literally looked through my .ust and .vsq files and looked for the one song that Crevan's VCV sounded the worst on, and this was it. She sounds absolutely horrid on Black Rock Shooter. So yes.
Instead of showing you, "This is the best my UTAU can do," I'm showing you, " This is the worst my UTAU sounds without purposefully trying to make her sound bad."
We'll just have to see how people take it.
But anyhow, introducing Crevan ACT 2: Concert Edition! Now with a stronger voice and 20% more bad accent!
I named the bank Concert Edition seeing as most concerts over around where I live are the Rock and Roll kind, and she has a voice best suited to that genre. But I suppose she can sing other genres as well.

Well then, you see, the other day I was going back and listening to my old UTAU covers with Salvador and Sal, and to be bluntly honest... they sucked.
They reaaaally sucked.
Mainly Rolling Girl. I actually feel a bit ashamed of that one because of how horrid Sal sounded. The breath factor was too high, the .ust was pretty bad, the lyrics were off, and I didn't even make a nice cover art. So, in order to make it up, I decided to make a cover with Crevan.
And guess who found a new effect in GarageBand? eue
Let me start by saying that I was too tired to really have done this right. In the original, Ayato was supposed to be faded into the background and I was supposed to add a few sayings in the background, but I guess working on the same cover art for four hours straight kind of does a number on your artistic sense.
And pay no attention to the captions.
They are bad captions. I missed a word or two here and there, I used the same frame for different lines, and the meaning's all over the place. So yeah. Don't mind them. :U

Well then, in all seriousness, I was mixing for Eight Hundred when I went over and looked at the original PV and decided, "Hey, I have a weekend off. This looks like a simple PV. Let's give it a shot." I thought I would simply get halfway and never finish, but it looks like I completed it. o_o;;
And I never thought I would ever have Crevan sing this high since Meltdown.
And no, I have no idea how you bury a shadow.

Well then, onto the actual description: a few days ago while on a search for something for Crevan to sing, I found a .ust for a song called "Doll And Left Eye." Seeing as it had something mentioning optical organs, I thought I might take a listen. After being thoroughly creeped out, I decided to make Crevan sing it.
Let me just mention why this song unnerves me so much; when I was little, I was always afraid that if I wasn't nice to my stuffed animals, they would get angry with me. I even had nightmares about accidentally leaving them outside, where upon they'd be furious with me and would either try to murder me or they'd run away. Or both. In quick succession.
Needless to say, the subject matter of the song kind of hits home.
In other news, I tried a new line art style here somewhat inspired by a few da Vinci drawings I was looking at the other day. It turned out rather unnerving.
And I just adore giving Crevan button eyes because she doesn't have any otherwise. ouo

Gah, I can't tell you how frustrating fixing the .vsq was. Not only was there no chorus, but it was off beat, some notes were too long, others were too short, blarg. It took a lot of cutting and fine adjustment in Garageband to fix it up, and it's in sync for the most part. I'm glad I got it done. ouo;;
Fun fact: this was the first Vocaloid song I ever heard. I didn't understand it at the time though, and quite frankly, I didn't care. I found it while on a search for pikachu videos (hey, I was up and on the internet at an early age). But man, I tell you, this has got to be among my favorite Vocaloid songs. ;u;
I hope GB didn't kill anything when it exported it, so Aiko shouldn't be too loud or too soft. Oh, and no, I will never draw anyone's face in this style again. I died of the animu.

Well, a long while ago, long before Crevan was released, I found a little song called Double Lariat. Needless to say, I fell in love with it and wanted to use Salvador on it immediately. The only problem was... well, there wasn't a single part of that song that was in his range. It was all either too high or too low, so I held off. Now, along comes Crevan, add a g-3 flag to her, and she fit the part perfectly.
Admittedly, I did have to bring the verse up an octave so she didn't sound a cello, but sill.
And yes, this is the laziest cover art I have ever done. ono
Also, can you tell MioDio doesn't know how to jukebox?
