Abiotic Factor is a lot of silly fun, though I wish the enemies were less tanky and combat was a bit faster, as especially as we got into the later sections with pistols it felt like you had to use loads of bullets point blank just to kill a regular enemy soldier, who then respawns. Still, love the idea of the game, very unique, and I'll never turn down an Australian setting :)
#abioticfactor #blackmesaWhy Would You Even Buy Men of War 2?Rimmy Downunder2024-05-16 | This game is really just a combination of baffling decisions. There's so many of them, chief among them obviously being always online with a supposed future patch instead of just waiting for the patch before releasing. This feels a game ruined more by poor design rather than poor programming, with intentional features like the Control Point lockout being a problem.
It's also competing with multiple other games given that MOWAS 2 is still active and played, Gates of Hell is a thriving modern version of MOW and if all you care about is singleplayer than there's LOADS of Men of War titles you could buy for dirt cheap (like I saw, Red Tide was $1!) and get roughly the same experience as MOW2 offers. There's so little actual advancement in terms of mechanics, instead regression in some areas, and it's not like the game looks or sounds significantly better than old titles, and certainly not against a modern title like Gates of Hell. It feels like an attempt to capture a more arcadey audience instead of appealing to the realistic roots of Men of War, similar to COH3 & DOW3.

Man, if you'd told me Kojima was involved in production I would not be surprised. The cutscenes are probably some of the most beautifully animated and directed cutscenes I've seen for an RTS, and the sound design is phenomenal. No voice actors stuck out like bad thumbs either, everyone down to the random pilots did a great job. ------------------ All Links: https://linktr.ee/RimmyDownunder Livestreams: twitch.tv/rimmy Second Channel: youtube.com/channel/UCknO__IO56Sp73bB_SBto2g Discord: discord.gg/rimmy Twitter: twitter.com/Rimmy_Downunder

Had a great time with this game, it was incredibly comfy and smooth to play. Saffron is back from the HOI4 video (and the EU4 one too!) and was by far the most useful of all of my friends when it came to actually helping me build the factory. Despite the conveyor belt meltdown. Hey, at least she didn't spend her time cleaning ore and then starting a cult?

Man I'd forgotten how much fun Anbennar is. Even with EU4 being my least favourite of the Paradox games, I still love playing Anbennar. The detail put into the mod is second to none and the very concept is just such a cool idea, similar to how I enjoy Shadowrun's future mix of fantasy and tech.

The helmet is awesome to own and it's very comfortable to wear.
While the game was fun it was a little bit of a let-down in terms of a survival gamemode and I've given my feedback directly that the game is in desperate need of a way to crank the difficulty up by at least 10x since it's so easy to win fight after fight without taking a single loss. I really do hope I'll get it to a point where I risk losing villages to raiders burning them down if I don't win the field battle. The Baron meanwhile is mostly fought at a time of your choosing and even his army is only moderately sized, posing no real threat to your lands if you lose.

Cheers to Hooded Horse for giving me early access to the game!
Very fun city builder so far. Definitely one of the best when it comes to the pure village crafting experience, with a weakness in the later game as the AI is pretty non-interactive for now. The combat is spot on for what I want from some brutal medieval RTS action.

While the game was lacking in a few features, especially as it got further and further into the late game, it was still honestly loads of fun. It's the game that finally answers the 'what if I built my base there in the apocalypse' question, similar to Zomboid, but in an RTS style instead of the smaller scale of Project Zomboid. I was honestly surprised at a lot of the smaller details and quality of life features, even if there were other QOL features the game would do well having (like an automatic switching shift between Guards and Scavengers at night).
I would highly recommend 'shopping around' for a fun map to play first, as while some maps were very fun, others were a bit nightmarish when generated.

#infectionfreezone #strategy #rts4 Morons Dive to Hell to Farm Content in CONTENT WARNINGRimmy Downunder2024-04-02 | there's no content warning that's just the name of the game :)))) anyway this game was incredible, obviously it's in the same indie genre of '4 people go into a terrible place with strange gadgets for small amounts of money' but the sheer genius of having to intentionally film the best scenes possible, while trying to not die, makes this game ludicrious amounts of fun. I just really wish they'd let us watch our films back when we fail too, just to let us see how the film would have looked if we'd escaped with it.
The physics of enemies attacking you and actually moving around makes the game chaotic to play, it reminds me a lot of Sub Rosa in some parts as you just kind of steer this drunken tank of a person around. All in all, incredibly fun game, highly recommend it, if it's still free grab it NOW otherwise it's only like 4 or 5 dollars I think.

I honestly really like this CDLC. It's some fun and detailed missions combined with unique and cool assets, and the fire fighting is just a little cherry on top. The assets are high quality and well config'd, they fill gameplay niches previously unaddressed in vanilla ArmA 3 and all have a good amount of variety in loadouts or customisation.
#arma3 #armaUnlikely Allies in Desperate Times | Halo ArmA 3 FustercluckRimmy Downunder2024-03-24 | The Spartan balancing for this op was meant to be so that we could eat a few more bullets than the regular Marines, but it turns out that the Innies weapons were way better against us than the Covvies. Made for a weird little op, but we got a lot more Spartan-y once we started fighting aliens.
#arma #arma3 #halothe real dragons hoard is the microtransactions | Dragons Dogma 2Rimmy Downunder2024-03-22 | THIS IS NOT A REVIEW! I have only played the game for the 2 hours allowed by the refund limit. I personally didn't have a great time with the game but I still would never consider making a proper review on the game without finishing it, even if I hated the game.
I give my initial thoughts as to what swayed me to refund instead of continuing to play, but the performance and the utter gall of them hiding the microtransactions (and what the microtransactions actually were) was so bad that I refunded. It wasn't going to be a fun game to stream and I really hated that I'd just bought a game by a publisher who not only released a buggy, crashing and laggy game, but then stuffed it full of extra microtransactions to nickle and dime stupid people. Smart people won't buy them, that's entirely true and fair. But we should still stand up for our stupid people when greedy publishers try to fleece them of their money.
#dragonsdogma #dragonsdogma2Level Zero: Extraction - The Gnome ExploitRimmy Downunder2024-03-19 | As someone who is a habitual hater of extraction shooters, this game was a blast to play. It's fun to play as the mercs as a sort of co-op Alien Isolation horror game. It's fun to play as the alien hunting people down and getting lots of money for doing it. And it's even more fun to play as a gnome, hunting down every single living creature in the facility.
And yes, the music is from the new site! Hopefully with this I can continue to edit with even cooler songs instead of just working with royalty free stuff.

Very glad I got dragged back into HOI. The new systems clutter the game a lot, especially for multiplayer, but a few like the arms market and logistical rework I feel really make the game a lot more engaging and fun. As for Trial of Allegiance itself, honestly it just seems overall to be silly. Pick a minor nation, and by the end of the tree you'll be the emperor of some ludicrious made up nation and you'll have enough buffs that all of your soldiers are superhuman.

Also fair warning, I did receive an early copy of this from Slitherine, but I didn't even end up using it, this was recorded entirely on the game's full release, and clearly (if you've seen to the end) not sponsored by them, haha.
It's crazy because while editing this video, I got the urge to play the game again despite having finished the 5 hours of recording for one mission on the same day. So much of this game is exactly what I love, the army customisation, the fine detailing, the side objectives and interactivity in the missions, all perfect - but that's because my brain blocks out the 4 straight hours of fighting hordes of enemies and then reloading because even though I took out the whole wave, they also destroyed some critical vehicle or caused too many casualities on my guys and I know that the next attack will just completely defeat me. The game has too much trial and error and not enough of a safety harness for when you screw up - in fact, it has zero safety harness. No 'unconcious' state for the men, no medics or replacements, it's either alive or dead.
The loss of combat capability in the teams as the mission goes on is the single biggest cause for this. Especially with infantry teams, the guys who will be taking the brunt of the damage and storming buildings, they always die or become combat ineffective first, and you are unable to combine or replenish them.
This op was a blast, we didn't play with ACE but used some alternate health and armour mods instead, giving it a very different feel. The operation was meant to include the Half Life Zombies and Antlions too, but they sadly just broke the server entirely, there was no good footage of fighting them.
I forgot to mention that the game is purely 5v5 right now, which definitely contributes to our victory by sheer fact that we're a 5 stack and many poor pubbies don't get to pick their teammates. But still, I don't think I've had this much fun in an RTS in a long time. There's stuff that needs to be fixed, sure, but I've had to actively force myself to stop playing more of this game, that's how much I love it. Now I'm split between wasting my time playing Broken Arrow or wasting it playing Helldivers 2.
#brokenarrow #rts #strategyFEET FIRST INTO HELL! | Helldivers 2Rimmy Downunder2024-02-11 | The plushie is now live and can be bought! It'll be available to order until February 27th, and when it's gone it is gone forever. Get it here!: youtooz.com/products/rimmy-downunder-plush-9-inch
This is actually my first time playing Helldivers, and by god this may be one of my favourite games of the year so far, and it's a hot contest given that Broken Arrow has come out as well and I've sunk MANY hours into that. The level of care and detail that Helldivers has, along with the open approach to how you handle the missions are both great, but the real beauty is the incredible movement and shooting controls. They're actually innovative, and the 'lagging' crosshair and diving combine to create some insane cinematic and fun gameplay experiences. I love this game man.
This was an amazingly fun stream, it was Warpugss' birthday and he therefore was our Emperor. CK3 is always a lot of fun as a multiplayer game, it's the perfect amount of chaos and actual gameplay. It also has a great natural end point: when everyone's kingdoms simulatenously collapse.

But honestly, I enjoyed my time with this game a lot more than I thought I would. VTOL VR suffered from a bit of a 'perfection problem' where many weapons, especially used against the AI, would have a 99% kill rate. Breachers was a mixed bag for me. I really appreciated the smooth controlling compared to many VR games, the guns and gear felt great to use, even simple things like throwing the drone in the air is very cool, and the breaching foam is simply awesome fun. Slamming the button down is such a cool VR mechanic. However, the shooting left a lot to be desired. It was hard to tell whether it was server lag or game design, but it felt like body shots were almost entirely useless and that only headshots mattered, since they seemed to almost always be an instant kill even with pistols. Naturally however I aim for the chest, as do most people, so retraining to always aim for the head would take a while. The end result was usually one or two very good players on the enemy team always dominating the leader board.

The unique aesthetic, the actual variety in enemy encounters and solutions, the sound design, everything. #armoredcore #armoredcore6 #mechaI am Gods Strongest Fisherman | THRONEFALLRimmy Downunder2023-08-23 | For a little minimalistic game I picked up on a whim, it was great fun. Its one of those indie games that has a fun core loop that now just needs loads more content to fill out the game. Variety in enemy waves and level design is a better way to keep the game engaging rather than repeating the same levels but with debuffs, though I like that the option exists.

I still loathe the assassinations as a way to end the game, but I think overall KOTC has improved with this patch. It still needs a few more finer options for roleplay and plotting in my opinion as so much is still decided and restricted by total RNG with the events (in particular whenever one faction gets back-to-back events while others get none).
