And this is Swatchos.

Now if you continue to work with a client, you could provide the logo on request for specific requirements, but if you are leaving the job, handing files over to another designer or just handing it over to the client you will need to prepare and provide files so they can be used where appropriate.
Today it is common for a logo to be used in a variety of instances both large and small across print and digital so there will be a variety of logo file formats that will need to be provided.
In this last and final video I am going to discuss the final logo deliverables you can provide to your client once your project is complete, and demonstrate some techniques you can use to prepare them.

A proposal document will help you present your design and communicate the merits of the design and show the development that has gone into it.
When a client can see the ideas that have gone into a logo design, this can help sell your work and convince a client that your design will work.
Now to do this, you have a few options.
You can either purchase a pre-designed proposal template and modify it or build a proposal document yourself from scratch.
Now there are many ways you can do this and lots of creative tools you can use.
For this course specifically, I will be demonstrating how I put my client proposal document together in Adobe Illustrator.
In this video, I’m going to discuss creating a logo proposal document like this from scratch using Adobe illustrator.

In-Situ visuals help us demonstrate to a client how a logo design can work in real life instances.
Ultimately we want to use In-Situa visuals to help sell our design!
This helps reaffirm and persuade the client of the quality and suitability of your design.
If done well this will convince the client that the logo is the perfect creative solution for their product, company or business.
So once we have finished our logo design, it will help to put it into some appropriate In-Situ visuals which you can use to convince the client of its merits.
In this video I will be discussing In-Situ visuals and demonstrating how you can use them in your design proposal.
So, Let’s get into it!

Now you may be working for yourself as an independent designer or you may be working for a studio as an employed member of staff. Whichever situation you find yourself in, when creating a design for a client we will have to put together a proposal document of some kind,
As I have mentioned earlier, this can be quite time consuming if you attempt to do this from scratch. However there are ways and techniques we can consider to help us.
In this video I am going to discuss the ways we can save time on this part of the process, so we can spend more time on the part that we designers love the most, and that is being creative and developing our logo design.
So, Let’s get into it!

With all the wonderful creative software and technology enabling our creativity we have complete freedom to pursue our ideas, imagination and bring them to life.
Today we seem to be increasing our creative potential and freedom, but one thing we will always be bound by is time. If you are a designer that works on a lot of projects and ideas, and likes to cover a lot of ground, one of the limiting factors is time.
And as they say, time is money!
Today we are fortunate with a multitude of creative resources online which we can consider for our work. Such creative resources do not just save us an enormous amount of time, but also enhance our creative arsenal.
In logo design particularly, there is a lot of work that needs to be done, especially when presenting a proposal document to a client.
Crafting presentation documents and getting all the right photography to place our design In-Situ can be very time consuming.
A technique to increase and accelerate your production is to consider using creative resources.
These can be changed, modified and adapted to your specific needs, all the while saving you time and money while remaining unique to your creative vision and design.
In this video I am going to discuss using pre-designed resources & templates for logo design and recommend a platform to check out.
So, Let’s get into it!

How many logos do I present to the client?
“Now this is a much-debated topic when it comes to logo design, and I think many designers will tell you different things.”
But really it all comes down to a few factors.
Now it’s important to mention here that there is no right or wrong amount, only what is best for you and what has been agreed with you and your client.
In this video I am going to discuss this question and offer up some insight which has worked really well
for me.
So let’s get into it!

#GraphicDesign #LogoDesign #DesignCourse
One of the toughest things I have experienced in my design career is presenting to a client as essentially you are trying to sell and convince someone of the merit of your design and present a case to use it.
As a designer you will know exactly why you created the design and to you it may make perfect sense but to someone seeing the logo for the first time, they may not see or appreciate the design initially.
And of course this is natural, Logos by design are and should be incredibly simple, after all that’s what a logo is supposed to be, and when showing something so simple initially you may not get the response you want.
So presenting can be tough and to do this well, you will require additional skills to pull it off.
In my experience I have done a lot of this, and over the years I have developed a technique that has worked well for me.
In this final section of the course I am going to demonstrate a method you can use to present your logos to a client.
In this final section I’ll be demonstrating what you can do once you have created your logo design to put together a thorough client proposal document so you can sell your design adequately and do justice to your design.
And to kick it off, I’m going to show you what we are going to develop over the next 10 episodes.
In this video I am going to show the final client logo proposal presentation document so you can see what we are going to be building up to over the next 10 episodes.
So let’s get into it!

For me one of the hardest challenges in logo design is colour, and deciding on the exact colour to use.
Over the years of designing logos I have developed a system that helps me narrow it down.
So when it comes to thinking about colour for my logo design, I typically undertake 4 Tasks:
1 - Consider Colour
2 - Sample Colour
3 - Apply Colour
4 - Perfect Colour
In the last video we looked at applying some initial colour ideas from the samples we picked based on our previous colour consideration criteria.
In the early stages of my logo development, I will always explore a variety of ways I could potentially colour a logo.
When I decide on a particular area I will then look to focus on that and perfect the colors ready to present to the client
So in this video, I am going to demonstrate the last task, rask 4, where we are going to perfect the colours of our logo design ready to present to the client
So let’s get into it!

Once I am happy with an initial colour direction, and I have some colours I am excited about. I’ll then want to see how the colour will look in context.
In the early stages of your developments, it’s good to spend some time on this, as you may stumble upon some really good applications.

One of the best ways to come up with ideas is to undertake research.

In the last video we started thinking about colour for our logo design where I discussed task 1 and the things you can consider to give us some good ideas to steer us into a good direction for our colour choices.
By working through our thought process, this can generate a more clear idea with a very specific set of criteria to base our colour on.
In this video, we are going to continue to think about colour, and I am going to demonstrate task 2, how we can sample and pick colour for our logo design.

When applying colour to logo design, I always try to make meaningful and relevant decisions so my design is not arbitrary or subjective.
Having good reasons for your design decisions, backed up by relevant research will drastically enhance your creative outcome.
If you can add substance this will make your design more appropriate.
In the last episode I decided on a specific logo for one of my creative routes.
Now up to this point in the design process for my logo design, I have only been thinking in black and white to focus on the idea of the logo and the form factor.
Once I feel this is in a really strong place, only then do I then start thinking about colour and I do this for a good reason.
By this point all the details will have been worked out, and my black and white logo design should embody some very specific qualities to represent a company, business or product.
All that’s left to do is select a colour and my logo design will be complete and ready to present to the client.
So with thousands of colours to choose from, and millions of potential combinations...it can be tricky to think of the right colours to use.
To help me think about colour for my logo design and make well informed and appropriate choices, I typically undertake 4 tasks:
1 - Consider Colour
2 - Sample Colour
3 - Apply Colour
4 - Perfect Colour
In this video, we are going to start to focus on colour and I am going to demonstrate step 1 and how we can consider colour for our logo design
So let’s get into it!

“Now it’s important to mention that I would not show lots of logo versions of a single logo design to a client, developing lots of versions in the early stage is just for my own development to test and develop my design.”
Once I get to a stage where I feel I have developed enough options and I have created some that I think are working really well, I will then look to choose the best design in preparation to build a presentation ready to show to the client.
Over the past few episodes I have demonstrated how I took my scamp designs and developed them into finished artwork in illustrator.
Now it’s time to reflect on the work we have done up to this point and decide on which logo we are going to showcase to a client.
In this video I am going to reflect on my logo design and discuss some of the things we can keep in mind when choosing our logos.
So let’s get into it!

A logomark is a style of logo that predominantly only uses an icon, or shape.
Now when a logomark and wordmark are used together in a logo design separately, this is called a combination mark.
Combination marks are a really common logo style, with a lot of famous logos using this style because it offers a lot of flexibility.
Looking back at my scamp designs I created earlier in the design process, we can see that for some of my designs I am going for a combination style logo, and I had a few initial ideas on how I want the logomark and wordmark to pair together…
Over the past few videos I have demonstrated how I created the logomark and wordmark element for my intended logo design.
Once I have created the elements of my design, it’s now time to bring them together to start finalising the logo compositions.
In this video I am going to demonstrate some things you should keep in mind when creating classic combination mark logos as I bring together my logomark and wordmark element to finalise my logo design.
So let’s get into it!

Customising a typeface can be done in vector based programs like Illustrator and Affinity designer where you can tweak the letter forms to suit your design.
With my chosen typeface, next it’s time to incorporate it into my logo to complete the design.
For my logo approach I am going to use a typeface called Aventa Geometric which I think is going to work perfectly, but to reflect on my initial logo design I am going to look to make some very minor modifications.
In this video, I’m going to demonstrate how we can work with type and make some simple modifications to a pre-designed typeface to perfectly match my intended design to complete my logo.
So let’s get into it!

Today there are thousands of quality typefaces available in multiple styles you can consider.
When developing your logo, it may be possible to find a pre-designed typeface that is perfectly appropriate for your design.
It is very common for logos to use pre-designed typefaces to accompany logomark elements or even create a stand alone wordmark logo.
If you decide to use a pre-designed typeface for your logo design you will need to consider type carefully to appropriately reflect the values and qualities of the company, business or product it needs to represent and this can be tricky because there are so many typefaces to choose from!
In this video I am going to demonstrate a technique I use to research typefaces for my logo design and edit down my choices in order to select a good example.
So let’s get into it!

As mentioned earlier in a previous video one of the fundamental principles of good logo design is timelessness. If we are going to use type, then we need to think about how this may work in 5 or 10 years time.
A good logo design can remain constant, but broader brand components like colour and typography can change.
It is not uncommon for brands to change elements like colour and typography they use so when using type in a logo design one thing we will need to consider is
How is a logo going to work as part of a brand that could change in future.
In this video we are going to think more practically about using type where I’ll discuss some important things we will need to keep in mind when using type as part of our logo design.
So let’s get into it!

In this video I am going to demonstrate how to create a heart shaped logomark like the one you see here.
What I’ll be doing in this video, is taking a drawing of a logo Idea I designed previously in the design process and look at how I can develop and finalise it in Illustrator ready to present to the client.
If you are new to this course and want to see how I came up with this design be sure to check the links in the description to watch some of the previous videos and get access to the FREE course PDF index..
If you’re continuing on with the course, welcome back!
In the previous video I demonstrated some techniques you can use to convert your sketches into vector artwork, using the image trace tool and the pen tool.
Now using the image trace tool may not be as sharp as you like and tracing using the pen can take a while, it can be fiddly and it may not always be the right approach.
In Illustrator there is another way we can save time.
Another option you could consider is to craft using strokes and shapes...
So in this video I am going to demonstrate how to take your sketches and scamps and turn them into vector artwork in Illustrator using strokes and shapes.
So let’s get into it!

Now this is one of the most crucial steps in the design process, because this is where things start to become real and more decisive.
Now it can be tricky to convert your sketches into vector artwork, especially if you are not that experienced using vector programs like Adobe Illustrator or Affinity.
Now if you are following along with this course, and developing your own logo, you may have a completely different logo design to the one I have developed up to this point, and you may be wondering how you can convert it into vector artwork.
So in this video, I am going to discuss and demonstrate a few methods you can use to convert your logo sketches into vector artwork.
So let’s get into it!

When developing your logo designs on a computer, the best method is to develop vector artwork.
Now some of you watching this may already know what vector artwork is, but for those who don’t, I won’t go into too much details, but simply put:
Vector artwork is created using anchor points which can be edited and fine tuned to perfectly craft your artwork.
Vector artwork also allows you to scale your designs up and down as much as possible without degrading your artwork.
Programs like Photoshop work with pixels as bitmap images, which make it really hard to scale up and down and maintain quality or your artwork.
For this reason we should only use vector-based creative tools to develop logos and not pixel based bitmap software like Photoshop.
Now this is not to say we won’t use programs like Photoshop later on in the process, but when developing logos designs initially on the computer, it’s best to use vector based programs.
In this video, I am going to discuss some software tools you can consider for logo design.
So let’s get into it!

As simple as a logo design may seem, there is a lot of thought that can go into them.
When we sketch, and develop our ideas it can get a bit rough and may not make much sense to look at. This is of course a natural part of a designer’s thinking and design process, though at some point we will need to communicate our ideas to other members of a creative team or a client.
If you show a logo sketch or even a finished design immediately to a team member or client without any prior build up, their initial response may be underwhelming and they may only judge your design on aesthetics which of course can be subjective and arbitrary.
To avoid this, when presenting a logo design, it really helps to take the client on a journey.
By taking the client on your journey of insight and discovery, they will understand your thinking which will enable them to make better sense and judgment of your design when they see it.
If a client can see a good idea in your logo design as well as an effective aesthetic execution, this makes it a lot easier to sell your design to a client and convince them of its merits.
One really important technique I use as part of this process is logo formulas.
In this video, I am going to demonstrate how I make sense of my ideas and consolidate them into logo formulas which at a glance will sum up the thinking and concept behind them.
So let’s get into it!

Initially sketching can seem simple and rough, which is fine for the designer in the early stages.
Though once an idea is identified It’s time to start thinking how and if ideas will work as actual logo designs.
Now one can jump straight onto the computer and start putting together their designs after the sketching step, but I like to use a technique to continue to develop and refine my logo design further.
In the design industry a technique that is used to refine and sometimes present ideas in the early stages is scamping.
If you’re not sure what a scamp is, well it’s basically a more refined drawing or plan, which can be used to showcase an idea more clearly than a rough sketch.
A scamp can then be used to share with other creative people or even a client to better articulate and present an idea.
In this video I am going to demonstrate how I develop my sketches, and scamp one of my logo designs to test and refine it further.
So let’s get into it!

Some logos may only include a logomark with no type element at all, some will have a combination of type and a logomark and some may just include type only as a wordmark or a letter mark.
Depending on your design, you will need to consider type carefully and how it will be used if paired with a logomark element or used alone to appropriately reflect the values and qualities of the company, business or product it needs to represent.
In this video I am going to think more about typography for my logo design, and discuss the options we have as designers when working with type in our logo design and settle on a direction I am going to take for my logo design.

As we undertake the design process, ideas can often occur and the best way to capture them is to sketch them down.
Sketching encourages us to think visually, get ideas out of our head and bring them to life quickly. Sketching is where we can make mistakes, stumble upon ideas and develop our thoughts.
Sketching also allows a designer to truly put themselves into their work.
Up to this point on the course, we have learnt alot about the project, and spent some time thinking about what we have learnt to generate some interesting areas we can base our logo design around.
Once we have some solid ideas in place from the discovery phase, It’s now time to put pen to paper and start to explore our ideas and see how we can bring them to life visually.
In this video I am going to demonstrate how I think about the design challenge and sketch out ideas for my logo design.
So let’s get into it!

In my experience, I find it really helps to have a dedicated space where you can spread out and pin up all your work and references.
When working on creative projects I always seek to find a space or area where I can spread out. This could either be a simple desk space, a wall space or an entire room.
For me It really helps to have a dedicated space where I can spread out and pin up all my work and references.
I have worked at many design agencies and worked on multiple projects, and one method we always use is to surround ourselves with our project research and development.
Up to this point on the course I have been putting all my work onto what I call a project wall. This gives me maximum flexibility to spread all my work out to fully immerse myself in my development.
Before we jump into the next phase of the project and start to design our logo I just want to quickly show you my project wall and discuss why I would recommend you use the same technique.
So let’s get into it!

Undertaking visual research can inspire us when we are feeling uncreative, or when we are lacking in direction.
In logo design Visual research can help clarify and shape our ideas and be a huge source of inspiration and help for when we come to design our logos later in the design process.
Visual research can help narrow down our thinking and help us focus on what we want to do.
Over the past few videos we have been looking at ways to generate ideas to base our logo design on.
Once we have a clear direction of what creative territories we are going to base our logo design on, we could start putting pen to paper and start sketching out some ideas.
But a good thing I like to do before that is undertake some visual research to inspire my creativity further.
In this video I am going to demonstrate a technique I use to gain visual research to inspire my logo design.
So let’s get into it!
