Today's video is a deep dive into speaker placement and how it impacts bass response, imaging, and soundstage. I’ll be using the GR-Research NX-Bravos for this demonstration—these very speakers are headed to Erin at Erin’s Audio Corner for review, but before they go, I had the chance to put them through their paces in a carefully recorded test.
🔊 What You’ll Hear in This Video:
1. A comparison of speakers placed close to the wall vs. deep into the room 2. How boundary reinforcement affects bass 3. The role of speaker placement in imaging, staging, and separation 4. A shootout between the NX-Bravos, my Encore speakers, and a sneak peek at the NRD speakers 🎧 For the best experience, grab a pair of headphones! The sound clips in this video were recorded using multiple microphones to capture the most realistic in-room experience possible.

In this episode of New Record Day, I take a deep dive into the Zu Audio Method — a compact, high-efficiency bookshelf loudspeaker that surprised me in more ways than one. Priced at $1,400/pair and proudly made in the USA, these speakers offer bold dynamics, unmistakable presence, and a unique personality that rewards experimentation.
I explore how placement drastically alters performance, including the surprising redemption arc that came from turning them sideways and listening off-axis (yes, really). Along the way, you’ll hear direct sound comparisons, gated measurements, and my honest thoughts on what these speakers do well — and where they might leave you scratching your head.
Stick around to hear the true story of how I finally understood the Method… to the madness.

**Spatial Audio Raven & Blackbird Review | A Bold New Take on Tube Sound**
In today’s video, we’re diving deep into the *Spatial Audio Raven preamplifier* and *Blackbird monoblock amplifiers*—a fully transformer-coupled, zero-feedback tube system that takes a fresh and fearless approach to high-end sound. With 300B output tubes driven by KT88s, a 64-step volume attenuator, and transformer isolation throughout, this combo is all about pure signal integrity and musical emotion.
The Raven offers 13dB of gain, XLR/RCA inputs and outputs, and a front-panel headphone jack. The Blackbirds deliver 24 watts per channel of beautifully voiced, dynamically engaging tube power. Both units are fully balanced, come with a 45-day in-home trial, and are backed by a five-year warranty.
But—as always—I’m not here just to gush. I’ve got a bone to pick about output limitations on the Raven (where my sub outs at?), and I also explore a low-level transformer hum I picked up when the amps were idle. It’s a quiet room in the Sound Shed and probably related to DC offset on my line—but it's still worth mentioning.
We'll also talk cables (yes… including power cords), silver vs copper interconnects, and how different combinations affected my listening impressions. Spoiler alert: the amp/cable synergy is real—but subtle.
**System Chain:** Source: Innuos Zenith into Holo May DAC Speakers: New Record Day prototypes (stay tuned) Power & RCA Cables: GR-Research Subwoofers: Yes, bass is covered
If you’re curious about the magic (and quirks) of modern 300B designs, and want to know whether Spatial Audio’s Raven and Blackbird system might be your ticket to tube nirvana… this one’s for you.

As much as I respect the Viking settlement of Denmark, I’m still trying to wrap my head around how dudes with hands the size of briskets managed to bake actual *butter cookie clarity* into a loudspeaker. What does that even mean? I don’t know—but Craig does. And with a warm welcome back to New Record Day… let’s find out together.
This video dives deep into the Radiant Acoustics Clarity 6.2—standmount speakers built for speed, resolution, and front-row firepower. From unboxing and setup to sound clips and in-room measurements, we cover it all.

Alright folks, today we’re checking out the *HumminGuru Nova* — a fully automatic ultrasonic record cleaner that promises pristine vinyl without the hassle. But does it actually *work*, or is it just another fancy box making bubbles and noise?
I’ve put it through the wringer, and in this review, I’ll walk you through the setup, how it performs, what I love, what drives me a little crazy, and whether or not this thing belongs in *your* system.

Project Omega by DMS!New Record Day2025-04-03 | Project Omega: bit.ly/4i5mVVH DMS: youtube.com/@UC7WtLipHnndkqwSxvL0oyVQ
**Project Omega – Your Last Chance!**
No, this isn’t clickbait—this really is your last chance to grab the Project Omegas, and you’ve got until Monday to make it happen.
These are the **Project Omegas by DMS**. If you don’t know who that is, around here, we call him Douglas. He’s a good friend of mine and an all-around head-fi wizard with a YouTube channel dedicated to all things headphones. I’ve admired his work for years, and I’m beyond happy to see this project thrive.
Now, let’s get one thing straight—DMS sent me these, but there were no Benjamins exchanged, no secret deals, and no promises to say anything nice. This review is just the unfiltered truth from someone who’s been in this game long enough to know what’s what.
### The Short Version? The **Project Omegas are my favorite dynamic driver headphones.** Period.
At **$999**, they’re not cheap. They’re hand-built, feature 3D-printed parts, and won’t win any beauty pageants next to something like the Meze Empyrean IIs. But the second I put them on my head? **Game over.** Comfort is off the charts, they weigh next to nothing, and most importantly—**they sound phenomenal.**
### Sound & Build - **Tonality:** Even-handed across the spectrum. No exaggerated bass, no harsh treble—just a balanced, easy-going daily driver. - **Bass:** Not bone-rattling, but **detailed, textured, and natural.** - **Mids:** Smooth, organic, and free from any weird colorations. - **Treble:** Airy and articulate—never piercing, never dull. - **Soundstage & Imaging:** **Wide, natural, and pinpoint accurate.** You’re inside the mix, not just listening to it. - **Build & Comfort:** **Lightweight, ultra-comfy, and easy to wear for hours.** The new batch even improves the ear cup rotation for better handling.
### TL;DR If the **Meze Empyrean IIs** are the wild, high-maintenance ex who turns heads but drives you crazy, the **Omegas are the one you marry.** They’re effortless, reliable, and sound incredible no matter what you throw at them.
They **do need a good headphone amp** to shine, and pairing them with the **Sparkos Gemini** was pure magic.
I couldn’t be prouder of **Douglas** for what he’s done here. No fluff, no BS—the **Project Omegas are the real deal.** If you’ve been on the fence, **this is your last shot.**

Thank you!We NEED Negative (No - Critical) Reviews…New Record Day2025-03-06 | I’ve had something on my mind for a few days, and when that happens, it usually means I need to turn on the camera and just let it out. Today, I want to speak directly to my fellow YouTube reviewers—and to anyone who wants to see this industry move forward in a meaningful way.
👉 Critical reviews matter. A well-balanced critique highlights both strengths and weaknesses, helping our viewers make informed decisions. But too often, we see reviews that feel more like marketing than honest assessments. That needs to change.
In this video, I break down 5 key reasons why critical reviews are essential:
1️⃣ Cutting Through Marketing Hype – Hi-fi brands love flashy claims and influencer endorsements, but critical reviews help separate fact from fiction. 2️⃣ Encouraging Better Engineering – Honest feedback pushes manufacturers to improve their designs, leading to better sound quality over time. 3️⃣ Protecting Consumer Investment – Hi-fi gear isn’t cheap. Our viewers deserve to know if something is truly worth their hard-earned money. 4️⃣ Raising the Bar for Review Standards – Too many reviews feel like thinly veiled ads. More critical assessments create a healthier, more honest review space. 5️⃣ Creating Context for Our Channels – Different perspectives matter! Not everyone has the same tastes, and contrast in reviews gives viewers a clearer picture of what works for them.
At the end of the day, we’re not here to tear things down—we’re here to set a higher standard and demand better for audiophiles everywhere. If you agree (or even if you don’t), drop a comment below and let’s talk about it!

So, you tell me—what happens when you take the legendary Manley Chinook, upgrade its backbone with Manley power, ditch the inconvenience of popping the top for gain adjustments, and wrap it all up in a sleek, modern chassis that looks as good as it sounds?
Well, my dear friends, that’s exactly what Manley has done with the **Oasis**—and today, we’re diving deep into this new phono stage to see if it lives up to the hype.
For the last month, I’ve been rediscovering my love for vinyl, spinning record after record, and the Oasis has been the heartbeat of my analog system. Manley Labs has never disappointed, and this time is no different. From its refined aesthetics to its thoughtful design choices—like rear-panel dip-switch adjustments for gain and loading—the Oasis is built for serious listeners.
**What You Need to Know:** 🔹 **New & Improved** – A modern, minimal chassis in three color options 🔹 **Easy Adjustments** – Rear-panel dip switches for gain & loading (no more removing the top!) 🔹 **Tube Magic** – 6922 tubes in the gain & output stages, with tube rolling options 🔹 **Flexible Cartridge Loading** – 32 different loading combinations + custom resistor & capacitor options 🔹 **Dead Quiet** – No noise, just music
**Listening Impressions 🎧** From big band recordings to stripped-down acoustic performances, the Oasis delivers. It’s got the **holographic imaging** I crave, **pinpoint instrument placement**, and a dynamic, powerful presentation. Whether you’re into lush, organic tube warmth or precise, extended highs and deep bass, this phono stage doesn’t disappoint.
Oh, and for those skeptical about the switching power supply—don’t be. This thing is **dead quiet, fast, and punchy**.
Is the Manley Oasis the last phono stage you’ll ever need? Watch the full review and decide for yourself.

**Meze Poet Review – A Tough Nut to Crack!** 🎧🎶
Early Monday morning, I got to work with the **Meze Poets**, setting up a listening station in the sound shed. While I wanted to use my **Innuos Zenith**, my ethernet cable situation forced me to go with my **MacBook + May DAC**. For amplification, I tested both the **Burson Voyager** (solid-state) and the **Sparkos Gemini** (tube), rolling in my **Telefunken 6922** because—why not?
So, what do I think? Well, the **Poet is gorgeous** and **comfortable**, but sonically, it was a bit tricky for me. The **upper midrange felt softened**, and compared to the **Empyrean 2, 105AER, and Project Omega**, I found the Poet's **vocal presence a little too relaxed**. On the plus side, the **bass response is fantastic—tight, punchy, and clean**, arguably more accurate than the **Empyrean 2**.
For pairing? No contest—**the Sparkos Gemini destroyed the Voyager in bass and dynamics**. Even Sarah agreed within five seconds: “This one (pointing to Gemini) sounds fuller and bigger.”
At the end of the day, the **Poet isn’t my ideal headphone**, but if you like **a laid-back vocal presentation with a dash of air**, it could be for you. And let’s not forget: **TUBES.**

Thank you!You Won’t Believe How Much This Phono Cartridge Costs – But How Does It Sound?New Record Day2025-02-23 | ### **What Does a $16,500 Phono Cartridge Sound Like?**
When it comes to dropping the needle on that black gold that fuels your audiophile addiction, you've got more cartridge options than you can shake a tonearm at. Moving magnet, moving coil, high-output moving coil—pick your poison. But some of those choices? Locked behind velvet ropes unless you’ve got Oprah money.
Today, we *don’t* have Oprah money. But we *did* (hypothetically) sneak into her mansion and snag a cartridge that costs... **$16,500.**
Yeah. Let’s find out if it was worth the heist.
### **A Quick Shoutout & Ethics Statement** Before we dive in, I owe a massive thank-you (and an apology) to Josh from **I Believe in HiFi**. Ages ago, he sent me this TopWing Red Sparrow to check out, and after far too many delays, here we are. No strings attached—no check, no script, just an honest listen and review.
Josh runs **I Believe in HiFi**, a killer shop in Austin, Texas, where you can audition some of the finest gear in the game, including Aries Cerat, Origin Live, Pink Faun, and more. If you’re in the area, hit him up—info is in the description below.
### **The Gear Setup** To put the **TopWing Red Sparrow** through its paces, I paired it with: 🔹 **Turntable** – Harmony MKII 🔹 **Phono Stage** – Manley Labs Oasis & Excel Sound MC Step-Up Transformer 🔹 **Preamp** – Ultra-rare Dodd Audio Phono Preamp 🔹 **Amp** – Gallion TS120SE 🔹 **Speakers** – My prototype design, XLS Encores, and Radiant Acoustics Clarity 6.2
### **How Does It Sound?** Right out of the gate, the Red Sparrow surprised me. Compared to the Pure Fidelity Stratos, it wasn’t night and day different, but there were some key takeaways:
🎵 **Top End:** The Red Sparrow extends the highs beautifully, with a little more air and detail in cymbals and upper harmonics. 🎵 **Midrange & Bass:** While neutral and accurate, it doesn’t add much weight—whereas the Stratos has a slightly richer, punchier midbass. 🎵 **Detail Retrieval:** If you crave **absolute transparency**, this thing extracts every last nuance from the groove.
But hey, don't take my word for it—I've included needle drops so you can judge for yourself. Toss on your best headphones and let me know what *you* hear in the comments.
### **Final Verdict** Does a $16,500 phono cartridge part the clouds and bring enlightenment? Not quite. But does it deliver pinpoint accuracy and some of the most refined tracking I’ve ever heard? **Absolutely.**
At this level, it’s less about “better” and more about preference. Do you want **meticulous detail retrieval** or a **little more muscle in the mids**? The Red Sparrow walks a straight line, while the Stratos throws a few heavier punches.
Big thanks again to Josh at **I Believe in HiFi**—check out his store for some drool-worthy gear.

The original **Harmony Turntable** from Pure Fidelity has been a long-term resident in my setup, and over the years, it’s proven itself as one of the best turntables I’ve had the pleasure of reviewing. But as audiophiles, we always chase that next level of performance... and today, we’re looking at what’s better.
In this video, we take a deep dive into the **Harmony mkII**, covering everything from packaging and build quality to the incredible **Savant Tonearm**, **Stratos Cartridge**, and the engineering refinements that set this table apart from the original. We’ll also talk about its **plinth design, platter material, speed control, and vibration isolation**—all critical elements in making this turntable an absolute **sonic powerhouse**.
And of course, no review is complete without a **listening impressions** section, where I break down how this table sounds and why I think it’s a meaningful step up from its predecessor.

Welcome back to **Frequency Friday**! Today, I’m diving into the **10 best speakers I’ve ever reviewed**—the ones that left a lasting impression, redefined value, and straight-up **blew my mind**. From budget overachievers to high-end powerhouses, this list is packed with speakers that set new benchmarks in performance.
🔥 **Did your favorite make the cut?** Drop a comment and let me know what speakers YOU think deserve a spot on this list!
💎💎💎Honorable Mentions💎💎💎
Ryan R610: One of the first high-performance stand-mount speakers I reviewed on my channel, the R610s absolutely deserve an honorable mention. With proper bracing techniques and higher-quality components than most speakers at this price point, they do nothing wrong and get most things right. Their fantastic retro look, real wood veneer, and in-house designed drivers make them a standout option. I strongly recommend checking them out—these speakers outperform many I’ve reviewed and are a phenomenal purchase.
Perlisten S7T: These speakers sound absolutely incredible, and I seriously considered adding them to the list. However, when weighing price against performance, I ultimately chose others in their place. While the Wilson Sabrina is also expensive, it left a lasting impression on me—one that still resonates to this day. As outstanding as the S7Ts are at $10,000, they simply didn’t have that same impact, which is why they didn’t make the top 10.

A while back, I checked out some budget-friendly desktop amps, wondering if any could earn the *New Record Day* stamp of approval. Most sounded decent but had a forward, aggressive soundstage that didn't quite sit right with me. But then… I tried the **Douk Audio A5**.
This little Class D amp packs a punch—up to **300W per channel** (depending on the power supply), with a built-in **high-pass filter**, **op-amp rolling**, and a clean, engaging sound. But is it perfect? Not quite. Those tiny speaker terminals? A joke. And at higher volumes, the A5 starts to lose some of its magic.
Still, for **$80**, it might just be the best-sounding budget amp out there. I’ll break down its performance, quirks, and even compare different op-amps to see how they shape the sound.

**Say hello to Aria.** Latin for *Air*, this 17" high, 6" wide, and 17" deep standmount loudspeaker is designed to deliver holographic imaging and unmatched soundstage layering. Weighing in at 30 pounds each, this 2-way speaker is a masterpiece in the making. Currently estimated to retail around **$3500 per pair**, Aria will be available exclusively at GR-Research in three stunning color options: - White with maple side panels - Black with walnut side panels - Dark grey with a stained cherry-like finish on walnut
The prototype you see in this video isn’t the final version, but trust me—when the production model is ready, it’ll be cleaner, sleeker, and even more refined.
**Key Features:** - Linear sound signature for incredible accuracy and detail - LGK 2.0 drivers enhanced for natural, airy, and open presentation - Rear-firing LGK driver for added ambiance, making the speaker sound far larger than its size suggests - Exclusive use of Tube Connector terminals
And here’s the kicker: Aria is just the beginning. This speaker is the first of three models under the New Record Day branding, and I couldn’t be more excited to share this journey with you all.
### A Word About My Role To address the elephant in the room: I have no financial interest in these speakers. My collaboration with GR-Research and Danny Richie is purely out of passion for Hi-Fi and creating something extraordinary for the audiophile community. I’m not making a dime from these speakers.
Aria represents everything I’ve ever wanted in a loudspeaker, and being part of this project is an honor I hold dearly.
### More to Come This is just the beginning, folks. Once the finished samples are ready, I’ll dive deeper into measurements, sound clips, and everything else you’ve come to expect from my channel. And for those curious about the other models in the lineup, stay tuned—they’re going to be just as exciting.
Danny and I will be hosting a livestream in the coming days to answer all your questions and discuss anything I may have missed in this video.
**Thanks for watching, and I’ll see you in the next one.** Cheers to Aria, and to all you audiophiles who make this journey worth it.

For all the audiophiles out there, tired of cheap components in high-gloss boxes shipped from assembly lines, Audio Craftsman is a refreshing change. Today, we dive into two standout models from this Canadian loudspeaker company: the Laval and the Victoria. These speakers are thoughtfully engineered with high-quality parts, serious bracing, and none of the usual compromises.
**Intro:** Audio Craftsman hand-builds premium speakers in Canada, focusing on quality over shortcuts. Both the Laval and Victoria feature the renowned Seas drivers and deliver impressive performance. Spoiler: both sound fantastic, but one truly excels.
**Meet Laval:** Audio Craftsman’s entry-level model, Laval, is a compact stand-mount speaker with a frequency range of 38Hz to 25kHz and a sensitivity of 90dB. Despite its smaller size, the Laval impresses with deep bass, wide soundstage, and an easy-going aluminum tweeter and poly cone woofer setup.
**Meet Victoria:** Victoria is the premium sibling, offering even more refined sound. Using a soft-dome tweeter and paper cone woofer, Victoria delivers tighter, more detailed bass and enhanced soundstage with subtle nuances. Its build quality and parts justify the higher price tag, making it a treat for listeners seeking high-end audio performance.
**Battle Ready:** Pairing these with the reimagined Dynaco ST70 and other high-end equipment, I pushed these speakers to their limits to unlock their soundstage and imaging potential.
**Listening Impressions & Sound Clips:** The Laval and Victoria measure similarly but have distinctly different tonalities. Laval is powerful with deep, full-bodied sound, while Victoria offers more detailed texture and precision, especially in the midrange and top end. Both speakers excel in soundstage, but Victoria takes it a step further.
**Measurements:** Both speakers show well-balanced, clean frequency responses, with subtle nuances that contribute to each model’s character. High-quality crossover components ensure no energy storage issues or unnatural forwardness.
**Final Thoughts:** Both the Laval and Victoria bring craftsmanship back to loudspeakers. Laval is a powerhouse for small spaces and budget-conscious audiophiles, while Victoria shines for those seeking an elevated, nuanced experience. Both models redefine what’s possible with high-quality, hand-built speakers.
Let’s dive into the sound clips, compare these two in action, and discuss the measurements in detail. Let me know your thoughts in the comments—do they match what you hear in the clips?

🎧 **KEF R3 META Review**: Is it really the gold standard? Well, sort of. In today’s video, I dive deep into the KEF R3 Meta, a speaker that everyone seems to love. Are they worth the $2199 price tag? Let’s find out.
The R3 Meta is undeniably a beautiful speaker, with finish options like White, Black, Blue, and Walnut that make them look immaculate. KEF definitely nailed the aesthetics. But what about the sound?
🔊 **What to Expect:** - **Treble**: Clean, crisp, but missing a little air and openness in the top octave. - **Midrange**: Smooth but with some darkness in vocals, especially female ones. - **Bass**: Tight and punchy, yet lacking in harmonic texture. - **Soundstage**: Wide and deep, though it could use more layering.
Throughout the review, I share my honest impressions, including what I loved and what could be better. The R3 Meta might not be perfect, but for many audiophiles, they could be just what you're looking for.

It’s hard to believe it’s been five years since we first tackled the intriguing world of GR-Research on this channel. Today, we revisit that discussion and dive into some old and new debates surrounding Danny Richie's speaker upgrades.
If you’re new here or wondering why Danny Richie is part of the conversation, this video will clarify his journey from the early days on my channel to his own successful YouTube presence. A while back, I started a series called “Tuesday Tech Talks,” inviting manufacturers to discuss their tech and audio products. Although it wasn’t a massive hit, Danny quickly emerged as a standout contributor. Fast forward a year, and he launched his own channel, and the rest is history.
Now, GR-Research isn’t for everyone. Some skeptics think Danny is selling overpriced upgrades that don’t offer real improvements. While I understand these opinions, I’ve experienced his work firsthand and find value in his speaker designs and DIY kits. But what about his speaker modifications and upgrades? Are they just marketing hype or genuine enhancements?
In this video, we put Danny’s upgrades to the test. We’ll examine sound clips from the Wharfedale 10.1 and Behringer Truth speakers to see if there’s a noticeable difference between stock and upgraded versions. I won’t reveal which is which until the end, so listen carefully and decide for yourself if the upgrades make a significant impact.
**Wharfedale 10.1**
We start with the Wharfedale 10.1, which Danny upgraded with new components and tube connectors. While the stock crossover wasn’t bad, the upgrades might be more subtle. However, I’ll share a surprising discovery about the stock binding posts that could influence your perception of these upgrades.
**Behringer Truth**
Next, we’ll review the Behringer Truth with stock and upgraded crossovers. Despite matching every component to stock values, any audible differences could suggest that parts indeed make a difference. Let’s see if you can detect any improvements or lack thereof.
**Big Reveal**
Finally, the moment of truth: I’ll reveal which clips correspond to the stock and upgraded speakers. Based on my experience, I believe Danny’s upgrades generally offer improvement, but I’ll leave it to you to decide.

Yamaha NS-800A Review | Two-Way Bookshelf Speakers | New Record Day**
Welcome back to New Record Day! Today, we’re diving into the Yamaha NS-800A bookshelf speakers. These piano black beauties stand sixteen inches high, nine inches wide, and fourteen inches deep. Featuring Yamaha’s Harmonious Diaphragm made from Zylon and spruce (used in Yamaha pianos), they promise to deliver a rich, immersive sound experience.
The NS-800A’s are the smaller siblings of the NS-2000A towers we reviewed last year. Priced at $4800, they face stiff competition in the hi-fi world. Do they stand a chance? Let’s find out!
**Sponsor** This video is sponsored by Safe and Sound. While they didn’t send these speakers, they carry a huge selection of Yamaha products, including the NS-800A’s, along with amplifiers, DACs, turntables, and more. With lifetime technical support and flexible payment options, Safe and Sound will get you rocking in no time. Links are below – tell them Ron sent you!
**Quality Control** Yamaha uses high-quality components like Mundorf MCap SUPREME capacitors and air core inductors in the crossovers. The 5-way binding posts are cut from solid brass. The cabinet construction includes laser vibrometers for precise resonance control, enhancing the overall sound quality.
**Optional Stands** Yamaha offers the SPS-800A stands for these speakers. Priced at $699, they provide a solid foundation and can be filled with sand or other materials to reduce vibrations. They come with options for both hardwood and carpeted floors.
**Listening Impressions** The NS-800A’s offer a lively, responsive sound similar to their larger counterparts, with a slight softness in the upper midrange. They provide a sense of presence and air, with a noticeable peak above 15kHz. The midbass and bass are rich in tone and texture, though a subwoofer is recommended for the lowest frequencies. The soundstage is expansive, adding a wrap-around effect to high-frequency details.
**Measurements** The NS-800A’s have a more linear response than the NS-2000A’s, with a clean horizontal and vertical response. The peak at 15kHz adds an interesting top-end extension, and the overall spectral decay is very clean.
**Final Thoughts** Yamaha took a risk with the voicing of the NS-800A, which some might not prefer. However, the fit and finish are excellent, and the optional stands are well-designed. If you’re open to a colorful sound rather than a perfectly linear one, these speakers are worth considering.
Thanks for watching, and I’ll see you Yamaha-loving audiophiles in the next video!

Hey everyone, thanks for tuning in for another deep dive into the world of audio systems. This review has been quite the journey, and I appreciate those who stuck around for the whole ride. I know my reviews can be long-winded, but my aim is always to give you the full picture.
Today, I had the chance to explore the Daniel Hertz System, a setup that rivals the cost of our Texas home. It's been fascinating to experience what this kind of investment brings to the table. While the system delivered incredible performance and was a joy to listen to, whether it justifies its hefty price tag is a question I can’t definitively answer. Value is subjective, and I encourage those interested to listen for themselves before making such a substantial investment. Lone Crow’s contact info is below if you’re keen to explore further.
Personally, I admired the dynamic range and power of this system—it truly brings music to life. The speaker’s overall tonal quality impressed me, though I yearned for more resolution in the upper midrange. The lower midrange, while bold, may appeal to those who prefer a robust vocal presence.
Regarding Maria and its technology, I remain uncertain if it’s the ultimate solution for today's audiophile needs. The amp boasts smoothness and refinement but may sacrifice some detail at the highest frequencies.
I want to extend my gratitude to Daniel Hertz and Lone Crow for this opportunity. Feel free to join the conversation below if you have thoughts to share. Meanwhile, I’ve got hefty speakers to pack and plenty more reviews in the pipeline after battling illness lately. Your support means the world. Until next time, fellow Daniel Hertz enthusiasts!

220lbs of Dynamic Cinematic Carnage AND Audiophile Bliss? | Arendal 1723 Review
**Description:**
Well, hello there. I've been a little sick, and I hope I can get through this without hacking up a lung. Bear with me. Thank you.
Today on New Record Day, I'm excited to dive into the Arendal 1723 Tower Speakers, priced at $3899 for the pair. These are a competent, well-made loudspeaker that offers deep, powerful bass and top-end extension. While they can be a little forward at times, this can be tamed with speaker positioning and tubes.
Arendal may not be exclusively a home theater company, but many folks eyeing these speakers are probably both 2-channel enthusiasts and multichannel dabblers. Think along the lines of SVS and Klipsch. For today's review, I'm focusing on the audiophile music experience with the 1723 Towers.
Let's get into the details:
- **Specifications**: The 1723s are large, standing 45 inches tall, 11 inches wide, and 16 inches deep, weighing 111 pounds each. They feature a two-and-a-half-way design with port plugs, black and white finish options, slanted cabinets, and magnetic grills.
- **Drivers and Build Quality**: A soft dome tweeter, four treated paper cone woofers, and a robust design. They have excellent build quality, despite being made in China.
- **Listening Impressions**: The sound can be a bit forward, but using tubes like the Gallion TS120 in class A mode can balance this. The treble is precise, though slightly lacking in air and ambience. The midrange is clean and detailed, especially in female vocals. The bass is deep and tight, with the option to use port plugs for customization.
- **Soundstage**: Impressive imaging and a massive soundstage, great for both home theater and 2-channel listening.
Join me for an in-depth review, sound clips, and measurements to see if these speakers are the right fit for you. Don’t forget to like, subscribe, and share your thoughts in the comments!
