Books Im Not Reading 2024-10-04 | Happy Friday, Booktube! Sadly The Mystery of the Yellow Room was not a happy reading occasion! If you've read anything by Gaston Leroux (Apologies for my terrible French in this video! Desolee!), I'd love to hear your thoughts about what you read! Does his writing improve over time? Do you think the comparisons between Leroux and Arthur Conan Doyle and Edgar Allan Poe are fair? Is he a better writer than they are? Also, I promise I did not commit any violence to this book. It is still in like new condition and hopefully on it's way to a Little Free Library!

Friday Reads: COVID, deer fighting and looking ahead to 2025

Books Im Not Reading 2024-09-13 | Hey Booktube! It was not the week we expected, but both Jason and I are handling our first experience with COVID. Thank you to all the folks who encouraged me to rest and then rest some more! Still, I still have my bookish life going on and I missed talking to all of you during the week. Plus, I had to share the footage of the deer fight! There's no sound because apparently I was swearing and shrieking, but we could hear their antlers clashing! I have never seen anything like it.

I have started thinking about what I want to do on Booktube in 2025. Is this madness? I still have plenty of reading to do in 2024! I reorganized my high-priority TBR for this year and ... again, possibly mad, started a Goodreads shelf for my 2025 TBR! Am I the only one doing this? Booktube, could you help me buy some time?

Books Im Not Reading 2024-07-30 | Hi Booktube! This idea is a bit crazy, but I'm wanting to spend more time preparing for some of my videos. In order to do that, I need more time than I have to do it. The only way I can see to make this possible is to raise money so I can take time off from work to do this. That's why I set a fundraising goal on my Ko-Fi page: ko-fi.com/booksimnotreading
I recognize that many of you have much bigger things going on in your life that you need to invest your money in. I hope I haven't offended you in any way by asking for your support.
I'm also planning on trying to create better thumbnails, but I will be using ad revenue for that expense. Please be aware my ad revenue is at most $25 a month right now.

Where to start with the Pulitzer Prize for fiction?

Books Im Not Reading 2024-06-16 | Hello Booktube! In a recent survey on my Community Page, some of you expressed an interest in a video like this! Even if you aren't interested in reading ALL the books to have won this prize since it started in 1918, but to dip your toes in and maybe give a few of them a try. I was trying to find books that would appeal to different people, be accessible and not intimidating. But here's the point I forgot to mention: If you find a book that sounds interesting to you and also happens to be a Pulitzer, that's where you should start!

Books Im Not Reading 2024-05-21 | The next two-and-a-half months don't look great for me work-wise, so I've been dreaming about being somewhere with ALL OF YOU! Wouldn't it be great if we could spend the whole summer somewhere reading and talking about books and life with each other and making videos? I think that sounds great!

So this is a very silly video about my vision for Camp Booktube! But what would your vision look like? What setting do you picture Camp Booktube? 3. Take your book outdoors and enjoy someplace green.
4. Make an indoor tent (or I guess, if you own a tent set it up for reading!).
5. Read by flashlight or lantern or maybe camp fire!
