Ruins of Lab (2022 revision) - Megaman ZeroYargami Scipionyx2026-09-18 | Ruins of Lab (2022 revision) - Megaman ZeroSealed Door (2025 revision) - Chrono TriggerYargami Scipionyx2025-08-22 | I thought it was time I updated this one. In particular I really wanted to focus on adding that 'lonely' feel to the atmosphere. This song has a large amount of atmospherics, but also needs to feel empty and looking back.

It so perfectly captures that feeling of continuation. This adventure may have run its course, but I know there's another one just over those hills. We may be riding into the sunset, but there's a new world just around the corner.Rainbow Road (remaster) - Mario Kart 64Yargami Scipionyx2025-04-08 | I've got Mario Kart on the brain. This game was full of really cinematic presentation, but this (and the following scenes) are probably the high point of the game for me.

Especially those who spend all their time supporting others. The holiday was yesterday, take today off. Allow those around you to help you.
Anyways, this has always been one of my favorite songs in this game, and I decided it was about time I did a version of it.

I actually put this together in October, but I quickly realized that there was no way I'd get the rest of the Chaos Angel music done before the end of the month. So instead, here's a bit of what I hope to get done next year.
The Sonic Advance 3 soundtrack was originally composed by Hideaki Kobayashi, Fumie Kumatani, Tatsuyuki Maeda, Tomoya Ohtani, Masaru Setsumaru, Kenichi Tokoi, Hironobu Inagaki, and Atsuyoshi Isemura. I don't know who did this specific track.Such Gerät! (remaster) - Megaman LegendsYargami Scipionyx2024-11-17 | I always had troubles getting through this part as a kid. So many of my playthroughs stopped right before this because I was psyching my myself out too much and just quit, only to restart six months to a year later.
Originally composed by Makoto Tomazawa.Isle of the Damned (remaster) - Chrono CrossYargami Scipionyx2024-10-31 | I've been meaning to take a swing at this one for a while now, and I figured Halloween is as good a time as any. I always loved the heavy atmosphere this island had. You knew that something was very wrong with the place the moment you arrived. And then it turns out the island is full of WillO'Wisps and the vengeful spirits if the dead, so maybe not a great place to hang out.

I had a little bit of trouble finding the right balance of synth and realistic instrumentation for the rhythm, but I'm pretty happy with where it ended up. This was one of the first action RPGs I played growing up, so I've always had fond memories for it.Opening Stage (2024 Revision) - Megaman X2Yargami Scipionyx2024-08-23 | RIP Green Biker Dude.

I actually tried to remaster it back in 2018, but never got it to the point where I was satisfied with it. I decided I wanted to push it a bit more towards the Shadow Hearts and Xenogears soundtrack for this one. I wanted it to have more of a raw feel to it through most of the song.

I do not own the picture or the original song.Crazy Motorcycle Chase (remaster) - Final Fantasy VIIYargami Scipionyx2024-04-23 | I wanted to do this track because I felt like the modern Midgar Highway didn't really hit the same mood as the original. I like the modern song, but it feels like a new song, rather than a modernization of the original.

I've been thinking about doing this track for a while now, but I couldn't quite figure out how to do it. While wandering around the final major dungeon in Rebirth I realized that I could slow this song down and let the soundscape breath a bit more. Which is kinda odd, considering this wasn't even the music playing in the dungeon. Inspiration is weird sometimes.

This was the first RPG I ever beat, so I like to go back to it every now and then. In this case I decided I was overdue to take on one of the map screens. This one was fairly straight forward for the first half, but I decided that changing the second half to real string samples that flow together it lost a little bit of the per note impact. Eventually I decided to add in the dulcimer with some lightweight airy reverb to keep it in that high up mood.

I still think that this is one of the best normal battle themes in the entire series, so I figured it was time I took a swing at it.

I really like the pleasant forest vibe the original is going for, but I wanted to push this track a little more towards FFX or Chrono Cross. A few synth pads and some orchestral ambience later and this happened.
Originally composed by Nobuo Uematsu. I do not own the original song. Remastered by me in Pro Tools.Battle with Geetz (remaster) - Megaman Legends 2Yargami Scipionyx2023-12-12 | Alright, back to remasters. This is one I've been thinking about for a long time, but I only recently really figured out what I wanted to do with it. The biggest problem is that the original is so short it's hard to make a modern song out of it. I really like the mood it's going for, but I decided pretty quick that I would have to add in at least one more movement. I also wanted to double down on the metal for this one, given that technically there are no guitars in the original song. I wanted Geetz to have a bit of a vicious edge to him. Even once I figured out the composition side of things it still took several weeks of just tweaking and redoing instruments before I was satisfied with the final balancing.

I found out a few days ago that Austin Wintory is running a contest for musicians to make a song based just on twelve notes and I thought it sounded like a fun exercise, regardless of the results. I would have liked to develop this one a bit longer, but unfortunately I only noticed the contest at the beginning of the week and didn't have time to do more.
[technical information] This song was sequenced in Pro Tools using the following plugins: - Spectrasonic's Omnisphere for the melody and most of the padwork - Sample Logic's Gamelan for the arpeggio - EastWest's Forbidden Planet for additional padwork - Native Instrument's Cloud Supply for additional padwork - EastWest's Hollywood Orchestra for a flute augmenting the longer notes in the padwork, the low cello later in the song, and the distant anvil later in the song - EastWest's Hollywood Choirs for the choir - Native Instrument's Butch Vig Drums for the noise burst percussion and the low drum - EastWest's Spaces II for additional reverb across many of the instruments - XLN Audio's RC-20 for additional processing on the percussion
Contact info: emeraldseraph@yahoo.comGai-nee Toren! (2023 revision) - Megaman LegendsYargami Scipionyx2023-11-11 | I always liked how this battle was more about managing the smaller units and trying not to get overwhelmed rather than fighting the actually boss, so I decided to lean a bit more towards the slow burn steady pace for this one, gradually building up over the course of multiple loops of the original song. I really like how the low piano melody in the beginning gives it a bit more weight and gravitas than it used to, eventually bringing more of the in your face impact that the original had on later loops. I figure depending on which Sub-City you go to first, this can be the semi-final boss in the game, so it should feel a bit more serious and high stakes than some of the earlier stuff.

I already liked what my previous version was doing, so a lot of the process was just recreating it in Pro Tools (my previous one was in SONAR) and cleaning it up a bit. After that I decided to try out something new for the song for the second loop.

I thought it sounded really cool, so I decided I would do night time versions of some of the area themes. Who knows, maybe if Chrono Cross were properly remade as a modern game it would have an active day/night cycle.

I do not own the picture or the original song.Elysium Defense Zone (remix) - Megaman Legends 2Yargami Scipionyx2023-09-11 | I'm labeling this one as a remix because I ran into some cool synths while working on this song and as a result the only part that's from the original is the melody and the key change. Also the second half of the song is based on the Main Gate from Legends 1 because I like the idea of that being the "Volnutt fighting his way into Elysium main bases" theme.
Both tracks are originally composed by Makoto Tomazawa. Remixed by me in Pro Tools. I do not own the picture or the original song.Cardon Forest Sub Gate (remaster) - Megaman LegendsYargami Scipionyx2023-08-17 | This was not my original plan at all, but while searching through my synth library for a different project I found some low chromatic percussion that I really liked for this creepy vibe. I also decided that with a more complex soundscape I could get away with slowing the entire song down a bit so that it didn't loop quite so quickly. This particular Sub-Gate has also always made me think of distant machinery, so I switched out the various hi-hat and percussive noises from the original with more industrial noise.
Originally composed by Makoto Tomazawa. Remastered by me in Pro Tools. I do not own the original song. The Bonnes Siege (remaster) - Megaman LegendsYargami Scipionyx2023-07-31 | I've always wanted the Bonnes to feel like more of a threat than they really come across as. They basically lock down an entire island in a matter of minutes, and the few police officers that do try to stop them here are quickly forced to hide in a nearby building. Unfortunately, Megaman himself is also really powerful, so the Bonnes often kinda come across as incompetent. For this one I decided to really lean into the kinda raw drum kit organized pirate gang feel.

And here we have one of my favorite remasters I've ever done. I've actually had the idea for this track for quite a while, but last time I remastered it I quickly realized I had neither the resources or the ability to do it properly. Skip forward six years and I decided it was time to try again. I've always wanted the Bonnes to feel like a greater threat than they do, as they seem to easily overpower pretty much everyone that isn't Megaman. Unfortunately, as the game is told from Megaman's perspective it can be a little difficult to pick up on sometimes.

I've been meaning to do more of this soundtrack for a while now. I decided to add in the woodwinds mainly because I was having a little trouble getting each part to stick out enough and fill it's own soundscape. The other reason is that I realized that Link to the Past is largely an orchestral soundtrack and while I love the composition of it, I think it really under utilizes the winds in general, making most of the soundtrack just out of strings and brass. Adding in the winds gives me the opportunity to put a lot more variance and color in the arrangements.

I do not own the original song.Stone Temple Tower ~ Inverted (remaster) - Legend of Zelda: Majoras MaskYargami Scipionyx2023-05-25 | And this is one of the main reasons this dungeon is my favorite: The puzzle mechanic is such a neat idea. In a time before well Breath of the Wild put puzzle rooms everywhere, many of the puzzles were some form of pushing boxes and lighting candles. This dungeon did that, and then flipped it on it's head.
Again, getting the atmosphere correct was my main focus for this one. Instead of the very heavy weighty feel of the normal tower this one feels very light. I wanted to remove the lower support from the song, giving it the feeling like there was nothing underneath you and your position in the world was suddenly very fragile.
Shout out to @SaveDataTeam not only for doing an excellent analysis video of both the dungeon and the song, but also for mentioning what sample library Kondo was using for the weird reverse sparkly things.
