And yes, the majority of these memes really were made at around 3am - some of them date back to my college days when I had to pull all-nighters to keep up with the workload. 🥴🥴🥴
Godot Platformer - Test 3 Joey Cannoli 2024-10-07 | I decided to make things a little more interesting this time around, and tried my hand at setting up the beginnings of a combat system. The first thing I did was try to create a basic enemy that you might encounter in various levels - that's what the little purple guys are meant to be. They're supposed to be able to cling to walls, letting them climb all around the terrain. I still have to figure out the wall climbing function, but they're animated and moving, so that's a good start.I also tried to implement an ability to let the player attack by shooting little laser bullets that fly straight ahead, except for whatever reason they kinda just float in place currently, so that's gonna need more work. Once I get that fixed up, it should get easier to add some of the other stuff I plan on adding down the road - namely some extra unlockable weapons, and the ability to charge up the basic shot to fire a bigger bullet.
Godot Platformer - Test 2 Joey Cannoli 2024-09-20 | I'm back with another test video for my Godot platformer! You'll have to excuse the Mega Man and Bass music, I've been trying to whip up a forest level theme for this level I started working on, but it's not ready yet, so I'm using Burner Man's stage theme as a placeholder in the meantime.I spent some time working on some art for the game, it's a work in progress but I decided to start making assets for a forest or jungle stage. It took me a little while to figure out how to get backgrounds working, but after some trial and error I was able to get a basic setup going. I also tried to see if I could figure out how to implement a crouching mechanic, but the approach I tried didn't really work - I put in some code to shrink the player's character's hitbox when the crouch button is pressed, but it caused the character's sprite to be affected too. I'm gonna have to work on this more, possibly try a completely different approach to handle the crouching. I'm also debating whether or not the player should be allowed to move while crouched, or if they should only be able to shoot in place like in Mega Man X5 and X6.

Godot Platformer - First Test Joey Cannoli 2024-08-24 | Imagine going radio silent for a few months and then randomly coming back out of nowhere...couldn't be me! 😶 So what kept me from posting anything all this time? Well, mostly personal stuff, but I also recently started learning how to use Godot to make my very own 2D platformer game! This is a quick look at what I've accomplished so far - I've got my main character moving and animated, plus some music and sounds to boot. Obviously I have a LOT more to do in order to make this into a full-fledged game that people would want to pay money to play, but I like how things are turning out so far. I'll be posting updates later down the road once I make more progress on the game's development, so stay tuned! I'll also try to start posting other stuff again as well, so keep an eye out for that also.
