Any time that isn't spent staring into nothingness is spent either asleep or numb. Nothing is felt, nothing is recieved. The concept of forgetfulness and aching no longer exists - nothing outside of the last flickering neurons does. Their mouth hangs, their lips droop, they say nothing and recognize nobody. This look develops late into end-stage Alzheimer's and has been coined the 'dementia gaze'.Disjointed, fragmented pieces of the dead self occasionally rise to the surface, sometimes percieved only by others and unrecognized by the self. These could be as grand as a short conversation or as simple as recognizing the time, a short action, or calling for a loved one.
