Delisoba Deluxe [Saturn] by Cave [HD] [1080p] Saturn Memories 2017-11-26 | Delisoba Deluxe (デリソバデラックス) is a Sega Saturn racer developed by Cave for use as a challenge event on the game show Tokyo Friend Park II. Home versions were given out as gifts but never sold at retail, making it among the rarest, most expensive games on the system.As for the TFP2 challenge itself, it plays out like this: Two contestants sit on a stationary motor scooter facing a wall of monitors which display the game. The person up front steers while the one in the back holds a stack of boxed “delivery soba" destined for the TBS broadcast studio. The scooter, which is mounted on a pneumatic platform, tilts and rocks as the contestants speed along winding, hilly roads. Along the way, they must avoid hazards like reckless traffic, stampeding cows, and even a banana-tossing gorilla on a flatbed. Coming into contact with any of these will cause the scooter to jolt the rider, sending the boxes tumbling to the ground. The boxes must then be picked back up before continuing. Contestants swap positions at the two-minute mark and win if they reach the studio in under four minutes.It's also worth noting that Deluxe is only the second incarnation of this challenge. Jung Rhythm [Saturn] by Altron [HD] [1080p] Saturn Memories 2017-10-01 | Jung Rhythm (じゃんぐリズム) is a 1998 rhythm game developed by Altron for the Sega Saturn. Despite how it’s rendered in English, the title seems to be pronounced Jangurizumu or “Jungle Rhythm” in Japanese. This is further corroborated by several written references to the word “jungle” that appear within the cutscenes and stages. Still, considering how dreams feature prominently in the opening and (bad) ending cutscenes, the title could also be a nod to psychiatrist Carl Jung. So how do you pronounce “Jung” in English then…? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯The game itself was quite obviously an attempt by Altron to cash in on the popularity of PaRappa the Rapper. As is often the case with most clones, Jung Rhythm comes off as pale imitation. While the visuals are reasonably good and some of the songs sort of catchy, the game just doesn’t play particularly well. I often find myself thinking that I nailed a line only to end up being jeered by the crowd. And sometimes when I know I flubbed one for sure, I’m cheered. It’s frustrating, but there aren't any better options on the Saturn for this style of game. Fortunately, Jung Rhythm is still very affordable if you want to take a chance on it. Daytona USA 2001 [Dreamcast] by SEGA [HD] [1080p60] Saturn Memories 2017-07-16 | Daytona USA 2001 (デイトナUSA2001) is a Dreamcast remake of Daytona USA, developed jointly by Amusement Vision and Genki. The game features updated versions of tracks found in the arcade original and Circuit Edition, along with three brand new courses.Daytona '01 usually gets dumped on for having poor controls when using a gamepad. And it's a claim that's certainly not without merit. While the US version of the game does add an option to adjust sensitivity, this isn't a proper solution. The real problem lies with the analog stick's dead zone -- it's massive. Fortunately, if you play the game on an emulator, you can use a program called XInput Plus to address the issue. Assault Suit Leynos [PC] by Dracue (S-Rank) [HD] [1080p] Saturn Memories 2016-11-07 | Assault Suit Leynos (重装機兵レイノス) is a 2015 PS4/PC remake of the Mega Drive run-and-gun mech shooter of the same name. Development was handled by Dracue, the creators of Gunhound EX.Dracue did an excellent job with this, taking many of the best elements from the various Assault Suit games and bringing them together to create what I’d argue is the most polished entry in the series. They should definitely be proud! Sadly, the same cannot be said of western publisher Rising Star Games. Their PC port lacks full controller support, contains graphical glitches, doesn’t run at a steady 60fps, and is prone to crashing during extended gameplay sessions. Assault Suit Leynos [Mega Drive] by Masaya [HD] [1080p] Saturn Memories 2016-09-16 | Assault Suit Leynos (重装機兵レイノス), better known in the West as Target Earth, is a 1990 run-and-gun shooter developed by Masaya for the Mega Drive. It was followed in 1992 by its prequel, Assault Suits Valken on the Super Famicom and a 1997 Saturn sequel, Assault Suit Leynos 2. Code of Princess [PC] by Studio Saizensen [HD] [1080p60] Saturn Memories 2016-06-24 | Code of Princess (コード・オブ・プリンセス) is a 2012 beat-'em-up originally made by Studio Saizensen for the Nintendo 3DS. It was later ported to PC by Degica Games. The game was principally developed by Treasure alums Masaki Ukyo and Tetsuhiko Kikuchi, who utilized many of the same design elements found in Guardian Heroes.Despite its pedigree, Code of Princess unfortunately fails to live up to its predecessor. Movesets are fairly limited, boss encounters rather bland, and once you figure out how best to build your character, you'll breeze right through the game. In fact, you can probably clear the entire thing in 45 minutes by using free play mode to eschew the cutscenes. Without branching paths, there is no reason to ever revisit story mode.Speaking of the story, there are a few issues with its translation. Even if you don't speak a word of Japanese, it's obvious that a lot of liberties were taken. This doesn't normally bother me much, but when you pair Japanese audio with a heavily localized script, it just doesn't work. Either a somewhat more literal translation or an English dub would have been preferable.As for the port itself, it's sort of a mixed bag. While the game does sport an improved frame rate when compared to the original 3DS version, it only runs at 720p and still suffers from some very noticeable input lag. Solar Eclipse [Saturn] by Crystal Dynamics [HD] [1080p60] Saturn Memories 2016-02-18 | Solar Eclipse (タイタンウォーズ) is an on-rails spaceship shooter developed by Crystal Dynamics that was released for the Sega Saturn in 1995. It is the successor to the abysmal 3DO/PS1 title Total Eclipse. Fortunately, everything that was wrong in that game has been fixed here. Gameplay is solid, and the well-scripted cinematics (featuring, among others, the talented Claudia Christian of Babylon 5 fame) make for a very immersive experience.
