Plot: New-York, 1998. The once most prestigious of cities, is now nothing but a shanty-town. Half of the city is left in ruins, and it is in that part of town that the marginals and rodents, hunted by the state police, seek refuge.
Paradoxically, the other half of the city consists of lavish mansions, where the most important drug barons reside. Unfortunately, they are the ones who run the city and thanks to the enormous profits they make from their drugs and arms dealings, they have succeeded in destabilizing the country's economy.
The U.S. government finds itself in the middle of a terrible crisis, now that they have lost complete control over the city. The C.I.A., headed up by John Steven, has been called upon to clean up the city of its villains. The plan is to reorganize the city by placing security check-points at strategic positions.
The operation was set into motion on April 4, and quickly proved to be an unprecedented success. The badly organized, smaller streetgangs, were greatly outnumbered and were no match for the extremely well armed law enforcement troops.

I have selected all official Space Invaders versions I know and could obtain, and I also included some modes that almost exactly reflect the core game mechanics. There are many official Space Invaders out there but they are not considered the same game because they alter the gameplay dramatically with new features. That's why I have excluded some revamped incarnations like Space Invaders 91, Space Invaders Plus (included in Space Invaders: Fukkatsu no Hi) or Space Invaders Infinity Gene, to name a few. Many emulated versions have been excluded as well. Perhaps you consider that I have failed to apply my own rules and some version would have to be out and surely you miss one too. If so, I'm sorry you're not satisfied with the selection. I have done the best I could.
