Paper Mario - Koopa Koot Favor 5 - Luigis Autograph
updated
The next special fest is coming (today, as of this video's publishing date). Hypothetically speaking, if you were stinking rich, which would you reserve for a whole night?! (I had a hard time deciding between two choices.)
Key Notes:
- This video also shows how to get the special summer gear.
Watch, enjoy, and comment, everyone.
Who the hell has the patience to reach level 999. You'd have to be playing JUST this game and NOTHING else to make it.
Watch, enjoy, and comment, everyone.
Has there been a stage where it actually rains?
Watch, enjoy, and comment, everyone.
The ending of the first BIG Big Run.
Key Notes:
- Don't think that the Triumvirate will be locked to BIG Big Runs only. They will be available during random weapon rotations and the like in other normal Salmon Run stages...so pray you won't deal with them during a high tide.
Watch, enjoy, and comment, everyone.
Always squint when you're given too much cake.
Key Notes:
- If you DO happen to eat it, Mario won't eat it, but the partner will, resulting in getting knocked out for the next battle until you win or lose.
Watch, enjoy, and comment, everyone.
Finding out who's making the noise (which shouldn't be hard to guess) and discovering some strange...happenings.
Key Notes:
- Just this once, I'm showing the comments of each partner while at the storage room just because they all seemed funny.
Shine Sprite
- It's staring you right in the face at the attic.
- This one should be the last Shine Sprite you can get in the chapter. If you really want to upgrade Yoshi, you can get another Shine Sprite at east Rogueport by floating over the water to the right of the Trouble Center.
Watch, enjoy, and comment, everyone.
Geez, lady, I was just walking through, or should I go back to my cage?
Watch, enjoy, and comment, everyone.
Mario - Lv. 13
Turns out Mario isn't really that famous, nor who he deals with every 2 years.
Key Notes:
- Eat the cake for a quick heal before the battle. If you don't eat it (I didn't for the second time showing the battle against Bowser), Shellshock will eat it while you're away and call you an idiot.
(Optional) Boss: Bowser
HP: 30 - Attack: 3 - Defense: 1
- This is actually an optional boss. Whether you win or lose, it doesn't matter, as long as you fulfilled the previous fight's victory requirement to advance your rank.
- All of his attacks deal 3 HP of damage.
- His bite can inflict poison.
- If Bowser can crush Mario, he will cancel out use of an action command for 2 turns.
- He can also release a fire breath that hits both team members.
Watch, enjoy, and comment, everyone.
Cake makes everything better!
Key Notes:
- Feel free to eat the cake right away, because if you don't, it'll vanish when you return, and you won't like it.
Watch, enjoy, and comment, everyone.
A normal fight suddenly turns into a cheap wrestling scene!
Key Notes:
- Regardless whether you win or lose against the Iron Clefts, nothing else changes. Just accept some free experience.
Watch, enjoy, and comment, everyone.
An anonymous (and surely super shy) fan decides to support Mario by giving him a *(VERY DECADES-OLD OUTDATED)* new gift.
Key Notes:
Super Hammer
- This increases the attack power of the hammer from 2 to 4.
- Its technique can also be used against roaming enemies, though, of course, you won't get to exploit that at all in this chapter.
Watch, enjoy, and comment, everyone.
Quake Hammer will forever be your friend.
Watch, enjoy, and comment, everyone.
A new room full of rude people. But now people know Mario's weird nickname!
Watch, enjoy, and comment, everyone.
It's a battle that you can't win, unless you were to somehow get a very convenient solution...
Key Notes:
Yoshi Kid (name official from Super Smash Bros.)
- Okay, time to discuss this one a bit.
- Firstly, the color this Yoshi shows up is NOT random. From the moment you get him at the hot dog stand to the moment you flee from the Iron Clefts (exactly that moment), a hidden in-game clock stops. Depending on how long you were with the egg before the battle you have to flee from, it'll come with a designated color. The time frames and colors (hair styles are locked to the colors) are as follows:
0 - 6 Minutes = Green
6 - 9 = Red
9 - 12 = Blue
12 - 15 = Orange
15 - 18 = Pink
18 - 19 = Black
19 - 20 = White
Colors: http://www.mariowiki.com/images/7/76/Yoshi_kids.PNG
- If the internal clock goes over the white Yoshi's time, it resets back to green and resumes from there.
- As you can see, it's "easier" to get the green Yoshi because it's got more time than the rest (assuming you make a beeline for the 10th rank battle and try to skip dialogue). Getting red, blue, orange, or pink has a smaller window of 3 minutes each, while black and white have an abysmally short time of ONE minute each (so my first time was white (yay! but ugh), so I took the time from the recording of said time, figured out the difference, and got green Yoshi).
- If you want to manipulate the color you want, have a timer ready, see which color you get, and from there, figure out how much time you need to pass before you flee the Iron Clefts. Easier to get green, but harder to get the last two.
- Anyway...
- The Yoshi Kid has a basic attack that reminds a player about Bow from the previous game, but whereas she was sadly useless against enemies with one point in Defense, the Yoshi Kid can actually boost himself to make his basic attack deadlier.
- His Gulp attack bypasses all defenses, so use that to defeat the Iron Clefts.
Watch, enjoy, and comment, everyone.
Bye bye, King K. You were a sweet dude with delusions of romance.
Being a bomb is a painful existence.
Watch, enjoy, and comment, everyone.
With an egg attached to Mario's hips, the tourney goes on...and no one but him rise up in ranks.
Also, King K. is hopeless.
Watch, enjoy, and comment, everyone.
A match later, news about a tropical egg ingredient reach the arena, except...it's a very funky egg.
Watch, enjoy, and comment, everyone.
Rising up and seeing a bandit being sneaky when he shouldn't.
Watch, enjoy, and comment, everyone.
Battling the second most friendly Koopa Troopa I've ever met and listening to Bandy Andy about the weird wonders of the pit, which _DEFINITELY_ won't be looked into at _aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaall..._
Watch, enjoy, and comment, everyone.
Now that Mario's a fighter, he gets more disrespect than respect by the fight fans.
Key Notes:
- If you exit out of the lobby while the crowd is all over Rawk Hawk, they'll all disappear.
- And yes, you can beat up the crowd and piss off the eagle.
Watch, enjoy, and comment, everyone.
And so begins Mario's climb through the ranks...
Key Notes:
- In the GCN version, the Game Boy Advance terminals didn't have the start up tune when turning on the console.
- There are ZERO roaming enemies in this chapter. All enemies are fought at the arena through mandatory battles. Unequip any badges that give bonuses after beating an enemy on the field.
- As usual, you can only find enemies exclusive to the chapter...though the second half takes some liberties in including enemies found in later chapters or special areas, so watch out.
- Pull the special conditions of each fight to ascend the ranks. If you don't, you won't move a rank or go lower, even if you run or get defeated.
- As you ascend several ranks (and fame) at a time, the people outside the arena will say different things as encouragement (or mocking comments). The fighters at the lockers ALWAYS say different things with each single rank to move up.
- Also, exclusive to the Switch version, you can partake in exhibition matches against rivals you have already beaten.
Watch, enjoy, and comment, everyone.
Registering to fight at the Glitz Pit.
Key Notes:
- In the GCN version, the transition between rooms was done through literally rolling the screen's picture. Here, it's just a fade out transition.
- If you say "no" to registering after the tour, you can move around Grubba's office and find a Star Piece.
- Jolene doesn't have a last name that starts with "K."
Watch, enjoy, and comment, everyone.
Entering the Glitz Pit and finding out where the Crystal Star is at...
Key Notes:
- They gave the remixed theme of this arena a very Asian feeling than the GCN version.
Watch, enjoy, and comment, everyone.
Welcome to Glitzville, where the amusement park is at a really high place where people who fear heights will do more than just vomit.
(This video contains a lot of exploration, and so will the next one, despite having cutscenes.)
Key Notes:
Shine Sprite
- You'll see it next to the path to the Glitz Pit. Hit underneath it to uncover a hidden block to reach it.
Watch, enjoy, and comment, everyone.
It won't end with Mario sleepin' with the fishes.
Watch, enjoy, and comment, everyone.
To get to the air, the mafia's boss must be spoken to...
Key Notes:
- If you actually know beforehand what the item combo is, you don't need to talk to Ishnail (and pay him the weird 64 number).
- Don Pianta's daughter can be found at the docks.
Watch, enjoy, and comment, everyone.
Listening to some more rumors Wonky has heard after clearing Chapter 2.
Watch, enjoy, and comment, everyone.
Unlocking the Paper Game at the Pianta Parlor, which is unlocked by clearing the "Help my daddy!" trouble at the Trouble Center.
Key Notes:
- This game can be more profitable than the Plane Game, but it can be more wasteful if you screw up too much.
- Don't place too much focus on the crowd of runners as you run and avoid the fans.
- Remember that you can jump and change into Paper Mode without delay.
Watch, enjoy, and comment, everyone.
Available After: Clearing Chapter 2
Pine T. Jr.'s dad descended into the Pit of 100 Trials, thinking that he can make it all the way down.
His dad got knocked out cold at floor/level 18. Defeat the enemy there, talk to him, and then escort him to the 20th (or any other 10th floor) so he can escape and reunite with his son.
Clear this trouble to get the Silver Card to unlock the Paper Game at Pianta Parlor.
Watch, enjoy, and comment, everyone.
Available After: Clearing Chapter 2
Just get your flat #$^ to the parlor and talk to Lahla to finish the trouble.
Watch, enjoy, and comment, everyone.
Seeing how the Punis and the Jabbies are doing. (This video is just very optional exploration.)
Key Notes:
- If you can ask Petuni correctly what she knows (which person Mario likes the most), she'll give you a unique Mystic Egg. If you want more, reenter the tree and ask her the same question.
- The same can be said about Jabble at the storage room, who gives you a free Mushroom (not that you need one going all the way up for it).
Watch, enjoy, and comment, everyone.
Available After: Clearing Chapter 2.
The Elder Puni wants a Life Mushroom to prolong her life (...wait, it's that easy?).
You can buy a Life Shroom from west Rogueport's shop.
By the way, now that the tree is peaceful, you can go around and see how everyone is doing. Petuni in particular can give you a Mystic Egg, while Jabble, who's hiding in the storage room above, gives you a free Mushroom.
Watch, enjoy, and comment, everyone.
Luigi is back to narrate his epic quest while his Blooper friend Friedy, er, Blooey...seems to have a different point of view.
Watch, enjoy, and comment, everyone.
Revealing the location of the third star.
Key Notes:
- Check the right side of east Rogueport to find out how to proceed.
Watch, enjoy, and comment, everyone.
I
am
*LUCK!*
Key Notes:
- For completing half of the floors, your reward is the Strange Sack, which increases the number of items you carry from 15 to 20.
- In the GCN version, the initial item storage was 10 rather than 15 in the Switch version, but the Strange Sack gave a larger boost of 10 extra items to hit 20...so it feels a little lower in the Switch version.
- I'll resume my descent once I clear the main story.
Watch, enjoy, and comment, everyone.
Descending through the fifth set of floors, which have enemies from chapters 5 and 6.
Watch, enjoy, and comment, everyone.
Quake Hammer is pretty much a necessity, regardless of how weak it is.
Watch, enjoy, and comment, everyone.
How do foes even live down here.

Descending through the second set of floors, which contain enemies from Chapter 2 and 3.
Watch, enjoy, and comment, everyone.
Time to descend to the halfway point of this place to get a sweet upgrade.
This descent began right after clearing Chapter 2.
Key Notes:
- The pit contains enemies from either each progressive chapter, or it shows unique enemies that you won't find anywhere else.
- Though some badges are worthless here, badges that can increase hearts, flowers, or money can help when beating an enemy to replenish resources. Consider using the Money Finder badge (from the Star Piece merchant at the underground town) for the early floors.
- Every now and then, you can end up at a floor with a Mover Puni who can help you skip floors for a little fee. *Just don't skip past 10th floors or you'll miss their rewards.*
- Also, a random merchant may show up every 10th floor to sell wares, but be careful, because he may sell items more expensive than usual.
- In the GCN version, beating enemies on one floor never gave you a coin bonus. This was changed probably to make things easier using money for the Mover and the merchant.
- (FYI, neither the Mover or the merchant appeared to me again or once in this run.)
- The first 10 floors have some enemies from the prologue and Chapter 1.
Watch, enjoy, and comment, everyone.
With the Great Tree safe, it's time to depart.
Key Notes:
- Before doing so, though, I go back to Flurrie's house to claim the Star Piece there to get all of this chapter's Star Pieces.
- Once you show the second Crystal Star to the door, you can visit the tree to see how everyone is doing, and get a unique item from Petuni every time you enter the tree.
- ...But screw the main adventure. Let's take a small detour to the Pit of 100 Trials!
Watch, enjoy, and comment, everyone.
Bowser's epic quest to re-kidnap Peach seems...about done?
Key Notes:
- You'll occasionally play a silly version of Mario Bros. using Bowser. You have literally infinite lives, so just get to the end, regardless of how well you do.
Watch, enjoy, and comment, everyone.
Meanwhile, back with Peach, she learns the horrors of being eavesdropped...
Key Notes:
- Regardless of how well you do in the dance, nothing substantial happens other than pleasing TEC for it.
Watch, enjoy, and comment, everyone.
Mario - Lv. 8
Everyone DIES if you do not attempt to horribly maim the silly guy, so do that.
Key Notes:
Boss: Magnus von Grapple
HP: 30 - Attack: 2 - Defense 1
- As long as you can take down the feeble rocket punches before they can hit, this boss is a big joke that fighting the Three Shadows was more dangerous in comparison than dealing with this very stupid-looking robot.
- I do believe we can criticize its awful color choice. It's hard not to.
- Make it blow up to claim the second Crystal Star and the Clock Out special move.
Watch, enjoy, and comment, everyone.
Oh, it's three of them at once now. _*SHIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII-!!!*_
Key Notes:
Triumvirate
- You're dealing with ALL three King Salmonids at once in a very chaotic battle while still dealing with other lesser Salmonids...so pray you don't fight them in a small area.
- Since this is a life-or-death situation, your team will be given random Grizzco weapons...so pray you're given the right ones.
- Though it seems you won't have enough time to defeat all three, they are not excused from friendly fire, which is why Megalodontia can be detrimental to its other allies as it can damage them a fair deal when lured to chomp on them (its chomping attack can even make Horroboros's bomb explode in one hit). Luring the chomper to the other bosses is crucial to eliminate them quickly.
- Try to damage the other two first and deal with Megalodontia for last, unless of course you have inflicted enough damage to beat them all.
- Regardless of your performance, battling these three during this event will triple your rewards, making this a good way to grind for resources.
- If you beat them, you'll get a special badge for it. But if you also beat them while at Hazard Level MAX, you'll be given a special decoration by Mr. Grizz.
Watch, enjoy, and comment, everyone.
The Salmonids are going all out on ALL the locations they have struck!
Key Notes:
- Unlike a regular Big Run, this bigger run involves being deployed to a random location from all previous sites that have been invaded.
- More info on the big attractions in the next video.
Grizzco Roller
- This souped up roller has a very slow swing, but the fling reaches a really long distance and strikes obscenely hard.
- When used to roll around, it has a very ridiculous high speed, packing the power of a Dynamo Roller and being faster than an Inkbrush.
Watch, enjoy, and comment, everyone.
Available After: Clearing Chapter 1
Plenn T. of Rogueport's middle shop wants five Courage Shells. You can get these from rare random drops beating Chapter 1 enemies, or you can buy them from Petalburg's shop.
Watch, enjoy, and comment, everyone.
Man, he hid really well if I couldn't find him.
Key Notes:
- The countdown hits zero, it's game over.
- Even during dialogue, you can still fail if there isn't enough time. But really, you should be fine even walking to the exit without stopping.
Watch, enjoy, and comment, everyone.
