Midwest Crime Watch In July 2023, Henry County Indiana Sheriff John Sproles fired several rounds at an inmate inside the jail.

Sproles appeared in the jail wearing a helmet and carrying a beanbag shotgun at the end of a frustrating 45 minutes for several jail guards. They had repeatedly asked Marquette Neal to return to his cell. Neal refused again and again until he eventually entered a cell in the jail holding area.

Once inside, Neal, after demanding his property be retrieved from his assigned cell, began kicking the cell door.

On surveillance video, Sheriff Sproles is heard telling Neal, “Hey. You kick the door again and you’re going to get some rounds. Okay?”

Neal did not stop.

A slot in the cell door was opened, and from a distance of approximately two feet, Sproles fired a bean bag round into the back of Neal’s legs.

Sproles again warned, “You kick it again and you’re gonna get another one.”

Over a span of 36 seconds, Sproles would fire four times. After each one, Neal would resume kicking the cell door.

After the last round, Sproles said, “Alright. We got some more rounds… cuz’ we’ll go all night.”

At that point, there were wounds to the area behind both of Neal’s knees. They were serious enough for Neal to be transported to an area hospital for treatment.

In a March interview, Sproles explained he intervened to maintain order and to prevent Neal from injuring himself.

Workplace Confrontation Has Deadly Consequences

Midwest Crime Watch 2026-09-01 | Newly released body camera and surveillance video shows the moments surrounding a deadly shooting outside an Amazon fulfillment facility in Greenfield, Indiana.

The shooting happened on December 13, 2024, and left 39-year-old Isaac Riley of Indianapolis dead. According to investigators, Riley was an Amazon employee who arrived at the facility on a day he was not scheduled to work and became involved in a confrontation with another employee.

Authorities said the other employee attempted to disengage, but Riley followed him outside as he waited for a ride. Investigators said the employee eventually pulled out a handgun as Riley continued approaching. Riley allegedly reached toward his pants as if he might be reaching for a weapon, and the employee fired three shots.

The shooter remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators.

After reviewing surveillance footage, witness statements and other evidence, the Hancock County Prosecutor’s Office declined to file criminal charges, determining the employee acted in self-defense and reasonably believed deadly force was necessary to protect himself from serious bodily injury.

Georgia Officer Dragged During Traffic Stop

Midwest Crime Watch 2026-08-28 | Body camera and dash camera footage capture the frightening moment a Covington, Georgia police officer was dragged by a fleeing vehicle during a shoplifting investigation.

The August 14, 2026 incident began after police responded to a reported shoplifting at a Walmart. According to police, an officer later located the suspect vehicle at a QuikTrip near Highway 142 and I-20.

As officers attempted to investigate, police say the driver, identified as Destinee Riggins, accelerated while an officer was alongside the vehicle. The officer held onto the car as it sped away and was dragged through the parking lot before being thrown from the vehicle as it turned onto Highway 142.

The injured officer was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital. Police said his injuries were considered minor.

Authorities launched a multi-agency search for Riggins following the incident. Police eventually located the vehicle in Porterdale, and Riggins was arrested later that evening at an apartment complex. FOX 5 Atlanta reported that she faced charges including aggravated assault on a police officer, felony fleeing and eluding, and shoplifting.

Indiana Man Tries To Murder Sheriffs Deputy

Midwest Crime Watch 2026-08-27 | Newly released body camera and dash camera footage shows the dramatic moments surrounding a Hendricks County pursuit that ended with a sheriff’s deputy being intentionally rammed by a fleeing driver.

The incident happened around 5:35 a.m. on August 15, 2022, after Hendricks County sheriff’s deputies responded to a report of domestic violence involving strangulation. Authorities said Gary Edward Miller of Avon fled in a pickup truck after seeing Deputy Alex Haak approach, leading deputies on a high-speed pursuit through the area.

During the chase, Haak was driving through an intersection with his emergency lights activated when prosecutors said Miller angled his truck toward the deputy’s patrol car, accelerated and deliberately slammed into the driver’s side door. The impact forced both vehicles off the road.

Miller then ran from the crash scene, triggering a foot pursuit involving police K9s before officers eventually took him into custody. The body camera footage captures the aftermath of the violent collision, the search for Miller and his eventual arrest.

A jury later deliberated for approximately two hours before finding Miller guilty of attempted murder. Miller also admitted to being a habitual felony offender. On October 10, 2023, he was sentenced to 41 years in prison for attempting to kill Deputy Haak.

Indiana Cops Target Hispanics In ICE Operation

The operation happened on July 22, 2025, when Avon Police conducted what the department described as a three-hour “traffic blitz” with assistance from federal immigration agents. According to local news reports and information later released by Avon Police, 12 officers conducted 52 traffic stops during the operation. Police said 22 drivers or passengers were found to be unlicensed or were suspected of providing false or fraudulent identifying information.

Avon Police said ICE and Department of Homeland Security agents had offered to help officers identify people who provided false or misleading information during traffic stops. Police maintained that federal agents did not ride along with Avon officers and that the initial traffic stops were made by local police for observed traffic violations.

The operation ultimately resulted in ICE detaining people from six different countries on federal immigration matters. Initial reporting put the number of ICE detentions at 20, while Avon Police later said 18 people were detained on federal immigration warrants.

Susan told jurors that Lindsay was struggling, seeking help and expressing concerns about the medications she had been prescribed. She described Lindsay as “begging for help” as her family attempted to support her.

Her testimony came as Lindsay Clancy’s defense sought to convince jurors that she was suffering from severe postpartum mental illness when she killed her three children — 5-year-old Cora, 3-year-old Dawson and 8-month-old Callan — inside the family’s Duxbury, Massachusetts home.

Prosecutors have argued that Lindsay deliberately planned the killings and understood what she was doing. The defense maintains she was suffering from postpartum psychosis and should not be held criminally responsible.

Susan Clancy’s testimony also produced a dramatic moment during cross-examination when a prosecutor questioned her about her Catholic faith and whether murder is considered a “mortal sin.” The judge stopped the questioning and instructed jurors to disregard it.

School Principals Busted For Drunk Driving

Midwest Crime Watch 2026-08-08 | Body camera footage captures the arrests of two school principals who were taken into custody for separate DUI incidents involving the same vehicle just hours apart in Clermont, Florida.

According to Clermont Police, Jennifer Jimenez was driving a white Jeep shortly after 2:00 a.m. on July 5 when an officer observed the vehicle weaving, crossing lane lines, and striking a curb. Police said Jimenez admitted she had been drinking, showed signs of impairment, and refused field sobriety exercises and breath testing before she was arrested on charges of Driving Under the Influence and Refusal to Submit to Testing.

Her passenger, Christina Alcalde, was also determined to be too impaired to drive. Officers arranged for her to take a rideshare home and parked the Jeep nearby instead of towing it. Less than three hours later, however, police say Alcalde returned, retrieved the vehicle, and was stopped after officers observed additional signs of impaired driving. After performing field sobriety exercises, she was arrested on the same charges of Driving Under the Influence and Refusal to Submit to Testing.

Investigators said both women identified themselves as school principals during the encounters. Jimenez served as principal of Pinecrest Academy Tavares, while Alcalde was the principal of Pinecrest Lakes Academy in Minneola.

Both women were booked into the Lake County Jail, each posted a $2,000 bond, and have pleaded not guilty to the charges. Their criminal cases remain pending.

Prosecutors say Lindsay Clancy strangled her three children — Cora, 5, Dawson, 3, and Callan, 8 months — after sending her then-husband, Patrick, out for some errands. In January of 2023, Collins was working in the trauma surgical ICU, on a 7 a.m.-7 p.m. shift, during which time she cared for Lindsay Clancy. She took over care from Amedee, the previous witness, when she signed on in the morning and was told that Clancy had coded overnight.

Collins said she was focused on Clancy's injuries and keeping her sedated, so her interactions and responses were limited. But she said that was expected since Clancy was sedated.

She also said that once Clancy was extubated, she had to be restrained because she was picking at tubes and was exhibiting signs of confusion or delirium, which she said is called "ICU delirium." Over the next few days, she said that confusion and agitation improved.

Collins said on Jan. 29 and Jan. 30, the psychiatric consult team came in to speak with Clancy and evaluate her mental status. At this point, Clancy was looking to change her healthcare proxy, but they first had to determine if she was mentally stable enough to make that decision on her own.

Clancy was ultimately transferred to another unit on Feb. 3, after which time Collins had no contact with her.

Reddington asked who Clancy was changing her healthcare proxy from.

"She was changing it from her husband to her parents," Collins said.

Reddington asked if Clancy said she did not want to be resuscitated, but Collins said, "I was not privy to that knowledge."

Florida Teens Busted Breaking Into Cars

Midwest Crime Watch 2026-08-05 | Jacksonville Sheriff's Office body camera footage captures the arrest of a teenage suspect accused of a series of armed vehicle burglaries after a foot pursuit involving a police K9.

According to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office, around 2:45 a.m. on July 20, District 3 Patrol officers and the JSO K9 Unit responded to reports of armed individuals burglarizing vehicles. When officers arrived, they observed 14-year-old Rashawn Knight and another teenager breaking into a vehicle. As seen in the body camera footage, a vehicle alarm sounds moments before officers make contact.

Officers identified themselves and repeatedly ordered both suspects to stop, but they fled on foot while armed with handguns.

Police pursued Knight, continuing to give loud verbal commands that he ignored. Officers had probable cause to arrest Knight for multiple vehicle burglaries and reasonably believed he was armed. Because the suspects were fleeing with firearms, creating a danger to both officers and the public, a Police Service Dog (PSD) was deployed as the most effective means of stopping Knight.

The K9 successfully apprehended Knight by biting him during the pursuit. As officers moved in to arrest him, Knight dropped a handgun.

While on the ground, officers say Knight reached toward his waistband. Believing he could be reaching for another weapon, an officer delivered distraction strikes while repeatedly ordering him to place his hands behind his back. The K9 handler then disengaged the police dog, allowing officers to safely complete the arrest.

Investigators later confirmed that the handgun had been reported stolen. Officers also recovered a window-breaker tool from Knight's pocket that investigators say was used to burglarize vehicles.

Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department personnel evaluated Knight at the scene before transporting him to a local hospital. After being medically cleared, he was taken downtown, where he was interviewed and formally arrested.

Knight is charged with nine counts of Armed Burglary, each a first-degree felony, along with Possession of a Firearm by a Minor.

Following a detention hearing, a judge ordered Knight held in secure detention.

The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office also conducted a comprehensive administrative review of the officers' actions and determined there were no policy violations.

Indiana Cops Chase U-Haul Across Town

Midwest Crime Watch 2026-08-03 | What began as a robbery at an Indianapolis Target quickly turned into a dangerous police pursuit through Johnson County. In this video, you'll see body camera and dash camera footage capturing the moments officers attempted to stop a stolen U-Haul truck, the suspect's desperate attempt to escape, and the dramatic arrest that followed.

According to investigators, the incident began after a robbery at the Target store near Emerson Avenue and Southport Road in Indianapolis. Indianapolis Metropolitan Police alerted surrounding agencies to be on the lookout for the suspect driving a rented U-Haul truck. Franklin Police located the vehicle at a gas station, but when officers attempted a traffic stop, the driver sped away, leading police on a chase through the city.

During the pursuit, the U-Haul drove recklessly through Franklin, crossed onto school property, struck multiple vehicles, forced another driver off the road, and eventually became disabled after crashing near the intersection of U.S. 31 and Jefferson Street. The driver then abandoned the truck and tried to flee on foot before officers caught and arrested him behind a nearby CVS.

Police identified the suspect as Troy Bradford Jr. Investigators say Bradford allegedly used an airsoft pistol during the Target robbery and now faces multiple charges, including attempted robbery, resisting law enforcement, leaving the scene of an accident, and criminal recklessness with a deadly weapon. Fortunately, no officers or bystanders were seriously injured during the incident.

Cops Tase Naked Guy With A Gun

Midwest Crime Watch 2026-08-02 | Portland Police body camera footage shows a dramatic November 5, 2025 incident involving an armed, unclothed man who allegedly fired a handgun while running through the Lloyd District before officers took him into custody.

According to investigators, officers responded to multiple 911 calls reporting a man running through Northeast Portland without clothing while carrying a handgun. Witnesses told police the man appeared to point the gun at his own head and pull the trigger, but the firearm did not discharge.

Officers soon located 43-year-old Robert D. Hatley on Northeast Grand Avenue, where he fled on foot through a busy area. Police say Hatley fired a single shot in front of responding officers while continuing to run with the gun. Officer Bradley Clark then used his patrol vehicle to stop the suspect, knocking him to the ground and causing the firearm to fall away.

Despite being struck, investigators say Hatley got back up, ran into an occupied apartment building, and refused officers' commands. Officers ultimately deployed a Taser to take him into custody. During the arrest, police say Hatley repeatedly struck his own head against the sidewalk, causing significant injuries, while officers attempted to prevent him from harming himself further until paramedics arrived.

Hatley was transported to a hospital for treatment before being booked into jail on charges of Unlawful Use of a Weapon and Felon in Possession of a Firearm. Investigators later recovered the handgun from the front bumper guard of Officer Clark's patrol vehicle and confirmed that a single shot had been fired by the suspect during the incident.

Tony Romo DUI Arrest Body Cam Video Released

Midwest Crime Watch 2026-07-30 | Former NFL quarterback and current CBS analyst Tony Romo was arrested on July 23, 2026, after a Milwaukee County sheriff's deputy stopped him on Interstate 43 for alleged unsafe driving, including an unsafe pass and lane deviation. According to the arrest report, deputies observed signs of impairment, including red, glassy eyes and the odor of alcohol. Romo reportedly performed poorly on standardized field sobriety tests and was taken into custody on suspicion of Operating While Intoxicated (OWI).

Body camera footage later showed Romo telling deputies he had not been drinking and that he was in Wisconsin after playing in a golf tournament and visiting family. He declined a preliminary breath test, citing legal advice, after which investigators obtained a warrant for a chemical test. During an inventory search of his vehicle, deputies also reported finding an open container of alcohol.

Romo was cited for:

Operating While Intoxicated (OWI)
Possessing an open intoxicant in a motor vehicle
Unsafe passing / driving in a distress lane

Because it is his first OWI offense, Wisconsin generally treats it as a civil offense rather than a criminal charge. Romo was booked, released the same night, and is scheduled to appear in court on September 21, 2026.

The footage captures the events leading up to the July 7, 2026 arrests of Annya Mari and Scott Boylen, showing officers responding to activity that police say interfered with federal employees' ability to conduct normal business operations at and near the facility.

According to the Cedar Rapids Police Department, both individuals refused lawful commands from officers and resisted being taken into custody. The body camera video shows officers using department-approved control techniques to safely arrest the pair after determining enforcement action was necessary. Police say the tactics used were consistent with department training and were intended to protect the subjects, officers, and members of the public during the rapidly evolving situation.

Officials say the decision to release the body-worn camera and building security footage was made to provide transparency and additional context surrounding the incident, allowing viewers to see the full sequence of events that led to the arrests.

According to investigators, 48-year-old Sara Noboa allegedly ran a red light, triggering a chain-reaction crash that caused one vehicle to roll into another. Officers reported that she appeared heavily impaired at the scene, struggled through field sobriety exercises, and resisted arrest before being taken into custody.

Body camera footage captures the chaotic aftermath as officers attempt to restrain the suspect, who police say refused commands, damaged a patrol car and spit in an officer's face.

Noboa ultimately refused a breath test and was charged with two counts of DUI with property damage, two counts of battery on a law enforcement officer, and resisting arrest without violence.

Trucker Goes On Destructive Rampage

Midwest Crime Watch 2026-07-22 | Body camera and dash camera footage capture a chaotic chain of events that began with a disturbance at an IHOP in Springfield Township, Ohio, and escalated into a dangerous police pursuit through Akron involving a semi-truck.

According to investigators, officers responded to reports of a man causing a disturbance inside the restaurant. When police arrived, the suspect got into a semi-truck and attempted to flee. Officers tried to stop the truck in a nearby Walmart parking lot, but the driver allegedly refused commands to surrender. During the confrontation, one officer was able to jump to safety while another was thrown from the moving semi and injured.

The semi-truck escaped and made its way into Akron, where police say the driver rammed multiple patrol vehicles before leading officers through city streets. Authorities say the truck also struck civilian vehicles and another police cruiser as the pursuit continued along East Market Street.

The confrontation came to an end near Innovation Way when two Akron police officers and a Summit County Sheriff's deputy opened fire on the driver. The suspect was struck at least once and transported to a hospital with injuries believed to be non-life-threatening.

The suspect, Jeffrey Latson Jr., was shot four times and is facing numerous charges in connection to the incident.

The Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation (BCI) is leading the investigation into the officer-involved shooting. The officers involved have been placed on paid administrative leave while investigators examine the incident. Once BCI completes its investigation, the case will be reviewed by the Ohio Attorney General's Office before being presented to a Summit County Grand Jury.

Taco Bell Robber Gets K9 Bite To The Ass

Midwest Crime Watch 2026-07-19 | Three Indianapolis men are accused of carrying out a violent armed robbery at a Taco Bell in Fishers, Indiana, before leading police on a dangerous pursuit that ended with a K-9 capture and the recovery of a modified handgun.

This video contains body camera footage from the Fishers Police Department documenting the investigation into the June 30 robbery. According to investigators, the suspects allegedly approached the Taco Bell drive-thru armed with handguns, threatened employees, demanded cash, and stole an employee's blue Dodge Challenger before fleeing the scene.

Police quickly located the stolen vehicle, sparking a pursuit into Marion County. After the car came to a stop, one of the suspects ran from officers, leading to a foot chase involving a police K-9. Investigators say a gunshot was fired during the pursuit, but no officers, K-9s, or bystanders were injured. Officers eventually took the suspect into custody and recovered a Glock pistol equipped with an illegal machine gun conversion device, commonly referred to as a "Glock switch."

Authorities later arrested Frederick Nance, Terrell Caudle, and Davonta Hilliard in connection with the robbery. Court documents allege Taco Bell employees identified Nance as one of the armed robbers, and investigators say he later confessed to participating in the robbery, stealing the vehicle, and firing the gun during the pursuit. The three men face numerous felony charges, including armed robbery, criminal confinement, kidnapping, auto theft, resisting law enforcement, and related offenses.

Drunk Guy Gets Maced After Being Rude to Cops

Midwest Crime Watch 2026-07-16 | The case involving Andru Kulas began in the early morning hours of August 29, 2021, in Old Town Fort Collins, Colorado. Kulas, who had been out with friends following the recent death of his father, was contacted by Fort Collins police officers after a report that someone had been trespassing on the roof of a downtown bar. According to court filings, officers determined Kulas had not actually been trespassing but still decided to issue him a citation for third-degree trespass.

The encounter escalated when Kulas refused to physically accept the summons. Body camera footage and the subsequent lawsuit allege that Officer Kevin Park became upset after Kulas criticized the officers for not taking concerns about a female friend seriously.

When Kulas declined to take the citation, officers attempted to hand it to him repeatedly. After Kulas pushed an officer's hand away, a struggle ensued. Officers grabbed Kulas, took him to the ground, handcuffed him, and Officer Park sprayed oleoresin capsicum (pepper spray) directly into Kulas' face from an extremely close distance.

Kulas was arrested and spent approximately 36 hours in jail on charges of obstructing a peace officer and resisting arrest. Those criminal charges were later dismissed. He later claimed the pepper spray left him temporarily "functionally blind," caused him to miss work, and resulted in lingering vision problems.

The city settled a federal civil rights lawsuit with Kulas for $397,000.

They Tried to Rob a Brinks Truck…Then the Cops Showed Up

Midwest Crime Watch 2026-07-14 | A 65-year-old Brink's employee was shot and injured during an aggravated robbery attempt outside a Huntington Bank ATM at E. 105th Street and St. Clair Avenue in Cleveland's Glenville neighborhood. Three suspects were arrested following a police chase and subsequent crash.

The incident unfolded on August 21, 2024, when four men approached the guard during the daytime drop-off. Shots were fired, striking the 65-year-old employee, who was transported to a local hospital in stable condition.

The suspects fled the scene in a vehicle, which Cleveland police officers spotted a short time later. After the suspects refused to pull over, a brief police pursuit ensued, ending when the suspects' vehicle crashed into another motorist on Lakeshore Boulevard. Four suspects ran from the wrecked vehicle; three were taken into custody and a firearm was recovered.

From Missing Person to Murder Case: The Andrew Wilhoite Story

Midwest Crime Watch 2026-06-25 | In March 2022, a shocking case out of Boone County, Indiana, captured national attention when 41-year-old Elizabeth “Nikki” Wilhoite was reported missing after she failed to show up for work. The investigation quickly led authorities to her husband, Andrew Wilhoite, who initially denied knowing what had happened before eventually admitting that he struck Nikki during an argument and disposed of her body in a nearby creek.

According to investigators, Nikki had recently filed for divorce after learning of Andrew's affair and had just completed chemotherapy treatments for cancer. Authorities alleged that a domestic dispute escalated, ending with Andrew striking Nikki with a heavy flowerpot. Her body was discovered in a creek near the couple's Boone County home.

Andrew Wilhoite was charged with murder, but after a highly publicized trial in 2024, a Boone County jury found him guilty of the lesser offense of voluntary manslaughter. The jury concluded that he acted under "sudden heat" rather than with premeditated intent.

In June 2024, a judge sentenced Wilhoite to the maximum sentence of 30 years in prison. His conviction and sentence were later upheld on appeal.

Teens Scramble After Bus Station Shooting

Midwest Crime Watch 2026-06-22 | On November 25, 2023, at approximately 8:40 p.m., a group of individuals was gathered near an RTA bus station near Public Square in downtown Cleveland during the annual WinterLand Cleveland tree lighting festival.

An altercation occurred between the group of individuals. The 15-year-old male then fired several shots into a group of people injuring a 13-year-old male and a 15-year-old male.

The 15-year-old male then fled the scene. CDP and Cleveland EMS responded to the scene and the two juvenile victims were transported to a nearby hospital and treated for their injuries.

The teen was later charged in juvenile court on the following charges:

• One count of Discharge of a Firearm On or Near Prohibited Premises
• Four counts of Felonious Assault
• One count of Inducing Panic
• One count of Carrying a Concealed Weapon

Purdue Murder Suspect Claims He Was Blackmailed

Cops claim Sha stabbed his roommate multiple times in the head and neck.

Judge Releases Surveillance Video From Karmelo Anthony Trial

Midwest Crime Watch 2026-06-20 | A Texas Judge released surveillance video that was presented at the Karmelo Anthony murder trial.

The video shows Anthony and the victim Austin Metcalf arriving at the stadium, Anthony running after the stabbing and police arresting him.

Jurors deliberated for three hours on June 9 before convicting Anthony, 19, of Frisco, after a two-week trial. They rejected a lesser manslaughter charge and, after two more hours of deliberations, sentenced him to 35 years in prison, declining to find the killing resulted from “sudden passion.”

Anthony has consistently maintained that he acted in self-defense when he stabbed Metcalf, 17, after being told to leave and shoved inside a Memorial High School tent during a rainy track meet on April 2, 2025. Anthony attended Centennial High School, which did not have a tent at the meet when the rain began.

Another Duggar Sibling In Court

Midwest Crime Watch 2026-06-17 | A Florida judge has denied Joseph Duggar's requests to have unsupervised contact with his children and to amend a no-contact order involving the girl whose accusations led to his arrest.

Duggar, 31, is facing charges of lewd and lascivious behavior -- molestation of a victim less than 12 years old and lewd and lascivious behavior conducted by a person 18 years or older, according to Bay County (Fla.) court records. He previously pleaded not guilty.

Albert J. Sauline, Duggar's attorney in the case, filed a motion that same month requesting a no-contact restriction be modified so Duggar can see his own biological children.

Duggar's attorney argued the no-contact order being applied to Duggar's own children "is creating a hardship for the family unit, as the Defendant has been unable to communicate with his own biological children" since Duggar's first court appearance March 31.

The motion requested the judge to modify the order to allow "these family members to have peaceful contact."

However, Bay County Circuit Judge Brantley Scott Clark denied that request during a motions hearing Tuesday. Instead, Duggar can continue to have supervised contact with his biological children, the judge ruled.

Sauline had also requested Duggar's bond conditions be modified so he could visit parcels of land he owns that are within 500 feet of a residence listed for the girl whose accusations led to his arrest. A motion requesting the change states the girl and her family have abandoned the residence and Duggar wanted to have access to six properties he owned within 500 feet of that residence so he could do various maintenance work.

Clark also denied that request Tuesday, ruling that Duggar can have an employee or agent maintain those properties instead, court records show.

Indiana High Speed Pursuit Turns Deadly

Midwest Crime Watch 2026-06-13 | On Tuesday morning, August 5, 2025, Anderson Police responded to a serious crash at 17th and Jackson Street.

The vehicle, previously involved in a pursuit with the Alexandria Police Department, was traveling southbound on Jackson Street at a high rate of speed when the driver lost control. The vehicle left the roadway, struck a utility pole and two houses, then came to rest inverted on the roadway.

Three occupants were found at the scene. One occupant was pronounced dead at the scene. The second occupant was transported to a local hospital but later succumbed to his injuries. The third occupant was transported to an Indianapolis hospital and remains in critical condition.

No other vehicles or individuals were involved.

Ohio Cops Chase Down Assault Suspect

Midwest Crime Watch 2026-06-10 | In January 2025, officers with the Cleveland Police Department responded to a police station and witnessed a crash in the front parking lot.

It was initially reported that after a domestic fight, the suspect took off with a child.

Cops eventually chased him down and discovered the child had gotten out of the vehicle before the suspect took off.

Arkansas Trooper Saves Kids After High-Speed Pursuit

Midwest Crime Watch 2026-06-08 | On Sunday, May 24, 2026, at approximately 3:15 p.m., an Arkansas State Police Trooper attempted to stop a 2012 Toyota Highlander for a traffic violation. The driver failed to stop, and a pursuit ensued. The Trooper did not know children were in the vehicle.

The vehicle reached speeds in excess of 100 mph as it left the Camden city limits and continued south on Ouachita County Road 47. The suspect passed multiple vehicles and swerved into oncoming traffic. A Trooper was unsuccessful in two Tactical Vehicle Intervention (TVI) attempts.

After a lengthy pursuit, the suspect lost control in a curve, left the roadway, traveled through a yard, struck a light pole and overturned.

A Trooper immediately secured a 4-month-old infant that had been unrestrained and was ejected from the vehicle. Troopers worked quickly to safely remove three other children, all under the age of 6, from the vehicle, which was perilously close to live electrical wires.

“I could not be more proud of the way our Troopers performed their duties that day,” said Troop F Captain Rick Neill. “The suspect’s decisions placed four innocent victims in harm’s way. At any point during the pursuit, the suspect could have stopped. He refused to stop. The danger created that day was the direct result of the suspect’s actions. Our Troopers put the lives of those children first, setting aside their own personal safety.”

All four children were transported by ambulance to Ouachita County Medical Center for evaluation and treated for minor injuries. The mother of the children was notified and responded to the hospital.

The driver, Tyrice Fletcher, 28, of El Dorado, was taken into custody and transported to the Ouachita County Detention Center.

Stolen Car Investigation Goes VERY Wrong

Midwest Crime Watch 2026-06-06 | On September 20, 2023, police in Ohio were investigating three men who were slumped over in a vehicle.

After running the license plate they realized it was stolen.

When they tried to get the occupants out of the vehicle, things took a turn for the worst.

Two cops were dragged as the driver reversed suddenly. Amazingly everyone made it away unscathed.

Midwest Crime Watch 2026-06-02 | More than 25 criminal charges were filed against an Indiana man after police say he stole a car from a Carmel gas station and crashed it into a utility pole, injuring two people and damaging a backyard in the process.

Manuel Ettress, 31, was arrested earlier this week after Carmel police were called to a car theft and subsequent crash. On Friday, 26 criminal charges were officially filed against Ettress, including felony battery, kidnapping, criminal recklessness and auto theft.

The judge set his bond at $1 million cash only.

Florida Cop Makes Big Mistake

Midwest Crime Watch 2026-05-29 | A Palm Beach County Sheriff's Deputy pulled over Kathleen Thomas on February 11, 2026 during a traffic blitz to target people who were using their phones while driving.

The deputy told Thomas he saw her holding her phone with her right hand. The only problem? She doesn't have a right hand.

Indiana Nurse Lands in Court Not Once But Twice!

Midwest Crime Watch 2026-05-28 | A nurse practitioner in Carmel has been arrested after being accused of prescription fraud.

Katherine N. Curtis, 34, was booked on preliminary charges of unlawful dispensation of a controlled substance and dealing in a controlled substance by a practitioner, according to jail records.

The arrest stemmed from an 8-month investigation that began in February 2025.

Investigators received information from several pharmacies that Curtis, a licensed nurse practitioner, was overprescribing medications and writing fraudulent prescriptions to numerous patients all over Indiana.

Her business, called Reclaim Wellness, and was closed after being raided.

Investigators with Indianapolis Police's drug task force, along with the DEA and Carmel police, believe Curtis not only overprescribed medication to clients, but she also allegedly wrote prescriptions using other identities.

Man Tries To Slip Cuffs And Ends Up Regretting It

Midwest Crime Watch 2026-05-27 | A man turned himself into police in Knightstown, Indiana after saying he was going to hurt someone.

Once in custody, he tried to slip his cuffs multiple times and the cops finally had enough.

They used a taser on his neck and eventually put him on the trunk of the cop car before taking him to jail.

Inmate Chokes Out Jail Guard, Steals Van

Midwest Crime Watch 2026-05-25 | On July 10, 2023 at 9:03 in the morning, Marion County, Indiana Sheriff's Deputy John Durm places murder suspect Orlando Mitchell in handcuffs and shackles.

Mitchell is then loaded into the back of a transport van at 9:05.

After a few minutes, at 9:09, the pair drive out of the criminal justice campus.

Nearly two hours later, at 10:56, Mitchell finishes a medical appointment and leaves Eskenazi hospital with handcuffs and a belly chain secured.

At 11:15, tragedy ensued when Mitchell stepped out of the transport van after being returned to jail and immediately wrapped his handcuff chain, which he had somehow slipped off, around Deputy Durm’s neck.

The pair struggled for nearly two minutes before Deputy Durm’s neck was broken.

A Cumberland police officer walks up and notices Mitchell driving away in the transport van and calls for help.

Marion County Sheriff Kerry Forestal admits chronic understaffing played a role in those events.

Man Sentenced For Killing Indiana Kindergarten Teacher

Midwest Crime Watch 2026-05-24 | A judge sentenced a Marine who killed a Fishers couple in a devastating July 2022 crash.

Jaime Heredia Jr. pleaded guilty to two counts of reckless homicide in connection with the crash that killed a Fishers kindergarten teacher and her husband.

The sentence included five years in the Indiana Department of Correction and three years of probation. Upon release, he’ll have to undergo drug and alcohol monitoring and is required to do community service.

Investigators said 51-year-old Ashley Lansdell and 56-year-old Grant Lansdell died when Heredia, who was going nearly 80 mph, slammed into their car near 56th Street and Glenn Road in Lawrence on July 11, 2022.

Heredia told police he was exceeding the speed limit and tried to slow down when he saw the other vehicle. But data from a crash reconstructionist showed he had sped up to 78.7 mph just a second before impact.

The speed limit in the area is 40 mph.

Cops Search Home Of Suspected Courthouse Shooter, Break News To Family

Midwest Crime Watch 2026-05-22 | A man killed outside the Hendricks County Courthouse in Danville reportedly fired a gun before deputies shot him.

Family members of the man say they think he was targeting an inmate charged in the car crash that killed his two great-grandchildren.

The shooting happened when deputies parked a van outside the courthouse while transporting several inmates from jail.

As they exited their vehicle, an adult male who was waiting outside the courthouse reportedly pulled out a gun and pointed it at them.

The man reportedly fired one shot, according to police. The two deputies then returned fire, striking the man. It is not clear how many shots they fired.

The family of Mark Vawter says he was the man whom deputies shot and killed. Indiana State Police later confirmed this, saying Vawter was a 65-year-old Plainfield resident.

Mark is reportedly the great-grandfather of Ares Vawter and Iris Moore, two young children who died in February after a fiery crash that began as a police pursuit.

Iris, a 2-month-old infant girl, died immediately after the crash, while 3-year-old Ares later died from severe burn injuries.

Whitestown Cop Calls ICE On Man During Traffic Blitz

Midwest Crime Watch 2026-05-22 | A Whitestown, Indiana cop pulled over a man for not having a red ribbon on his ladder. The man couldn't speak English and the officer called an ICE agent who came and took him away.

This was part of a large traffic blitz with ICE in July 2025.

Four Women Who Jumped Pregnant Qdoba Worker Appear In Court

Midwest Crime Watch 2026-05-19 | FISHERS, Ind. — Prosecutors have accused four women of jumping a pregnant worker at a Qdoba restaurant located along 96th Street in Fishers.

Aniyah Gooch and Dajah Gooch are each facing charges of battery by means of a deadly weapon and battery resulting in injury to a pregnant woman.

Armoniah Malone and Darrique Jackson are only facing the battery resulting in injury to a pregnant woman charge.

Fishers police were called to the restaurant around 8:30 p.m. on May 17 after the victim called 911 and told them Aniyah Gooch and her posse came behind the counter and started beating her up.

Prosecutors said Aniyah Gooch was the ringleader. The victim said she and Aniyah were messing around with the same man and had a conversation earlier in the day about it. The victim said that’s what sparked the attack.

“She was mad at me because I was having his kid, and I guess she couldn’t have the kids,” the victim said.

All four women appeared in court on Monday afternoon and the judge entered preliminary not guilty pleas on their behalfs.

The Gooches are being held on a $50,000 bond. Jackson’s bond was set at $10,000 and Malone’s was set at $7,500.

Suspect Body Slams Cop Outside Indiana Walmart

Midwest Crime Watch 2026-05-19 | Lawrence, Indiana police released the body camera videos of a viral confrontation that was filmed by several people at the Walmart on Pendleton Pike.

The two officers involved in the confrontation, Officer Roberto Santiago and Officer Morgan Lowe are on administrative leave while the investigation plays out.

The man who was arrested, William Armstrong, was released from the Marion County Jail today is not facing charges at this time.

Cop Shoots At Suspect During High Speed Chase

Midwest Crime Watch 2026-05-18 | A Lawrence, Indiana police officer fired his rifle through his windshield and out his window while chasing a suspect who drove off during a traffic stop. The suspect was firing at the officer as he was being chased.

It began in late December 2024 when 48-year-old Kenneth Thaddeus Roberts Jr. was pulled over and the woman who was in the car with him got out and then Roberts Jr. took off.

The chase ended in Indianapolis and with a shootout involved Lawrence and IMPD officers. Roberts Jr. was pronounced dead at the scene.

Delphi Murders Case is heading back to court

Midwest Crime Watch 2026-05-17 | Richard Allen is appealing his conviction in the brutal killings of Abby Williams and Libby German.

The Court of Appeals has agreed to hold oral arguments in the case. Allen's attorneys are arguing that he didn't get a fair chance to defend himself.

The arguments are scheduled for September.

Indiana Sheriff And His Wife In Court On Fraud Charges

Midwest Crime Watch 2026-05-16 | Clinton County, Indiana Sheriff Rich Kelly and his wife Ashley Kelly made their first court appearances this morning on new charges filed against them last week that allege they defrauded the Indiana State Police by faking a disability.

This is separate from the case against them alleging they stole funds from the jail commissary.

This new case involved witnesses that currently work at the Clinton County Sheriff's Office but their names remain confidential and the Kellys are ordered to have no contact with them.

The sections where their names were discussed are not allowed to be broadcast.

As part of the no contact orders, neither of the Kelly's are allowed to carry firearms even though he is the sitting sheriff.

Both are being represented by well known defense attorney Mario Massillamany.
