He was doing private PUBG servers and i figured i'd join in for fun. Then this happened. The long awaited final chapter of Black Mesa is on show for the first time!
I've been excited to do a trailer for these guys again especially considering how far they've come. It was refreshing going back to where i started and using the old trailer methods again.Whats McVee been up to?McVee2017-10-05 | Just a little update. Its been some time guys. How have you been? I've been really busy running 2 businesses. 1 for games. 1 for a studio / event facility. I'm still in Tokyo. Here for a long time by the looks of things.
I still want to make videos. Not SFMs anymore as that is long gone but there will be game videos and maybe some real life and blogging stuff. Let me know what you want to see in the comments. I've been posting a ton of random experiences I've had in games and real life, just hidden for friends. But i can start making that public if you want.
Would you like me to play a certain game? Would you like to hear my opinions on something? Would you like to see make make videos of a certain game? Would you like to see me do crazy stuff in Tokyo? let me know! I'll also be posting some videos of our game as it gets more presentable.
Thanks, McVee
P.S if you're gonna get all insecure about me playing overwatch in the comments you're free to unsub. I still like TF2. I don't have to choose one or the other hahaTaiko No Tatsujin Dude Returns!McVee2017-02-04 | Still out in Japan. Was hanging out with our game development team tonight. Ran into our old friend from this video again. youtube.com/watch?v=NGY1gmVZVlo He performed the same song for us as last time. Got to speak with him and took a photo. Work on the game continues!
And on the pedestal these words appear: 'My name is Ozymandias, king of kings: Look on my works, ye Mighty, and despair!' Nothing beside remains. Round the decay Of that colossal wreck, boundless and bare The lone and level sands stretch far away.End of the Line 2 LeakMcVee2015-12-25 | Confidential Christmas release. Merry Christmas y'all
THIS IS A JOKE
Was just clearing out all my GTAV online demo files and found this. We're working on our game currently. Expect to see me post stuff for that sometime in 2016 when it's ready.SSX3 - Red Hot Chili Peppers - Higher Ground (X-Ecutioners Remix McVee Edit)McVee2015-11-29 | I've wanted this song since the first advertisement of SSX3 came out. Unfortunately they've never released the full track. On top of that, EA lost the original when the EA Sports BIG servers got nuked. Others have tried rebuilding it using the in-game files which were a bit limited. I had been collecting all instances of it I could from advertising, websites, videos, in game assets and so on since 2002. I believe this is the most accurate recreation to date.Murica!McVee2015-08-24 | You must be at least this free to ride.Dude rocks out on Taiko No TatsujinMcVee2015-07-06 | Follow me on: Twitch: http://www.twitch.tv/jmcvee Steam: http://steamcommunity.com/groups/mcvee Tumblr: http://jmcvee.tumblr.com Twitter: twitter.com/JMcVinnie
Many of you who don't follow my tumblr may not be aware that I'm currently living in Tokyo for a year. I'm half way through and really enjoying it so far. I've tried to share my experiences on my blog here: http://jmcvee.tumblr.com
This video seemed to go down really well so I figured I would share it with my youtube homies too. I was playing a Mario kart arcade game when this guy playing Taiko No Tatsujin next to us started staring at us and doing crazy faces while playing. He then went on to perform a few songs for us and this is one of the recordings I managed to get.
On the video front. I do not have anything SFM planned currently. But I am starting production on my own independent PC game soon with some familiar faces and celebrities involved. When it's ready to share I'll post about it here first. Until then, enjoy the show.Black Mesa: Steam Launch TrailerMcVee2015-05-05 | An old tape from the archives. Trailer by myself with help from Mike Hillard and Kevin Sisk HECU voiced by Michael Tsarouhas Character animation provided by youtube.com/user/HypotheDragonThe beauty of a GTAV bugMcVee2015-04-14 | So every time I go to this street junction online. There is a massive pile of trucks and cars. Then a few seconds later they explode into a shower of metal. I recorded it 17 times but this is by far my favorite. I might be making some pretty cool GTAV vids soon once they smooth out the launch issues. The tool has potential but I'm going to need to play with it some more.Too much cargo, not enough time.McVee2015-03-17 | So I was playing Cities: Skylines and a made a pretty massive city with a load of export goods. But I only had 1 harbour for cargo exporting. After noticing some weirdness on the horizon I decided to go and watch. This is the result. I think the AI imploded.
As a note this game is great and I've not experienced any other issues outside of this one. I highly recommend it for people who wanted more out of Sim City. Steam: http://store.steampowered.com/app/255710End of the Line [SFM]McVee2014-12-09 | Is it the End of the Line for the RED team?
So when I'm not working in SFM during the day I'm chilling with some Battlefield Hardline in the evening. I had this happen this evening. Figured I'd share it. This video is a one off. End of the Line is next.
EOTL Status: So we're hitting animation complete this week on the video. After that it's a bit of clean up and lighting/effects/background work to wrap up. The map is in a good state where people are happy with it. We're waiting on Valve approval to push it to final.A little update on End of the LineMcVee2014-01-19 | Just wanted to cover some points before people started literally exploding.
NOTE: This does not mean there won't be cosmetics.Rock, Paper, Shotgun Interview - Shot BreakdownMcVee2013-11-22 | A breakdown of a shot from the trailer. Still a WIP. Be sure to read the interview. It talks about some interesting things. http://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2013/11/22/interview-james-mcvinnie-director-of-end-of-the-lineNo Mercy [SFM]McVee2012-11-30 | So I've been super busy as usual. In the brief few moments I've had at home I wanted to try 3 different little experiments within SFM and After Effects. They were not big enough to warrant their own videos so I threw this together as a little test project. The 3rd test ended up being way too complex for the time I had to spend on it so it just reverted it too the freeze frame spin arounds at the end.
I'm amazed at how many people don't understand different genres of electronic music. Just because it has bass it doesn't make it dubstep haha.Practical Problems [Behind The Scenes]McVee2012-07-27 | As promised, here's a glimpse behind the curtain. I'll give a little explanation of what you're seeing in each shot.
0.00-0.10: A scaled down rocket with mini custom cloud textures and matte painting square. The rocket is the only thing that doesn't move while the rest moves up and rotates towards it as the camera shakes, creating the illusion.
0.11-0.18: Another scaled down rocket. This time in a custom version of 2fort with the bridge removed. Then using custom individual plank pieces i rebuilt it. The mini rocket creates the illusion of being super high as the full scale rocket would clip through the skybox. When it gets to the point of impact I switch out the mini rocket for the full size one and line them up via the camera perspective. I then animated each of the pieces of the bridge myself with some payload pre baked explosion rubble in front to represent the ground.
0:19 onwards: Examples of the ipi motion capture data via 2 kinects. I didn't bother moving my head or hands much as it only tracks the lower half of the spine and the forearms. Upper chest/neck is not recorded and needs to be done by hand. The map at the end was made in Hammer. A quick rip and paste job of 2fort with a load of assets added to the pile within SFM.Practical Problems [SFM]McVee2012-07-26 | Follow me on: Twitch: http://www.twitch.tv/jmcvee Steam: http://steamcommunity.com/groups/mcvee Tumblr: http://jmcvee.tumblr.com Twitter: twitter.com/JMcVinnie
As many of you may know I've been pretty busy as of late. But after getting an infected foot I had a bit of free time. I had a plan to do this video since TF2 first came out but I wanted to wait for Source Filmmaker to go official. 130 hours in SFM and Hammer later, here it is. As my foot healed I was getting less and less time to work on it. So I got it to a point where I was happy and just shut it down. It has it's flaws but it was a case of release now or never.
The animation work i did is pretty janky, i'm still learning a lot of this. Most of it is kinect mo cap of myself and Zach. I barely touched it afterwards for clean up, mostly only the head and hands.
I Still play TF2 quite a bit, always a demoman.

Entirely made from Gmod and Sony Vegas alone. I made it in August 2005 over a 3 day period and a load of editing. Strangely enough this was before HD really existed and i didnt know much about video resolution but i somehow managed to actually shoot it in HD. After realising HD was too big for the time compared to everything else I made a shrunk down version, which i put online. I actualy kept the huge one, don't know why. But now i'm glad I did.

The basic idea of the Zombie Panic is to create solid game play that is based on a classic zombie outbreak scenario, the living dead are coming for the last remaining humans, and these survivors must fight them off and live through the day.
