Exclusive to the iPad version of Mirror's Edge was a simple yet enjoyable multiplayer split-screen mode split between two game types; Race Mode and Rivals Mode.
"Race Mode" had you and a friend race each other to the finish line by using your parkour skills to vault, roll and slide through the level as quickly as possible. If enabled, you also had the ability to engage in combat with the other player, knocking them down to stun them for a few seconds to hinder their progress.
"Rivals Mode" focused on collecting bags spread out across various levels, with each player aiming to collect more bags than the other. Taking damage either through combat or falling off the map would award the other player with a bag, so you had to balance speed with agility and aggression to remain on top. Each match had the choice between a 2, 3 or 5 minute timer, allowing you to control how long the battle went for.

Originally released for Java ME (J2ME) devices in 2005 and unofficially ported to PC in 2022, Doom RPG was a turn-based adaptation of the first-person shooter "Doom" from 1993. The game follows its own story (although similar to the plot of Doom 3) and focuses on turn-based combat, tile based movement, conversing with NPCs and accessing computer terminals to progress through each level.

The game is split between 2 game modes; your standard FPS view and a new top-down drone view that allows you to control your soldiers on the field through orders. The campaign is split into 16 levels across 3 countries, with most missions allowing you to chose which view to play in as well as the ability to switch between said views at any time to gain a tactical advantage or to take control of a soldier for more precise combat (with the exception of a handful of on-rails levels).
Alongside the campaign, Strike Team features 3 "Survival Mode" levels, similar to the survival mode seen in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 (2011). In Survival Mode, you must do your best to survive against endless waves of enemies, with the goal to stay alive as long as possible to get the best wave score.

Released in 2012 for Android and iOS devices, Wild Blood was Gameloft's first game to utilize the newly released Unreal Engine 3. Primarily a Hack n Slash, Wild Blood takes inspiration from a variety of games like God of War, Dark Souls and The Legend of Zelda with simple, combo based combat alongside various upgradable stats and some very slight exploration. The game is loosely based on the King Arthur/Lancelot tale, using the pre-established characters and mythos to tell it's own story.
Strangely, the game has 2 difficulty settings, Normal and Hard. At the beginning, only Normal difficulty is available, requiring you to play up until the end of Chapter 7. At this point, your character is killed and set back to the start, unlocking Hard difficulty. From there, you must replay the game on Hard in order to unlock Chapters 8-10, which can also only be played on Hard.
However, In order to stand a chance at surviving Hard difficulty, you'll need to spend in-game currency to upgrade your character, which is not nearly in plentiful supply enough to gain without replaying levels and grinding out coins to progress. This is clearly a ploy to get customers to purchase said in-game currency via micro-transactions, which are are available in your classic mobile game "packs" of varying sizes with increasing costs. Unfortunately, the game isn't available on stores anymore so purchasing these packs was not an option for me, requiring me to spend hours of my time replaying levels to gain enough coins to finish the game.

Released in 2009 for iOS and 2010 for Android, Paper Toss was one of those classic mobile games that gained popularity with it's simple, addictive gameplay loop. Your only goal is to flick a ball of paper into a bin to get the highest streak possible. The challenge mainly comes from the wind, blowing the paper ball away at varying speeds, requiring you to flick in different trajectories to get the ball into the goal. The game originally only featured 3 levels; Easy, Medium and Hard, but was later updated over time to include all of the levels seen in this video.

Originally released as a Java ME game in 2008, Wolfenstein RPG was ported to iOS devices in 2009 with updated visuals and sound design to suit the more powerful hardware. Following the recipe from 2005's "Doom RPG", Wolfenstein RPG is a turn-based role-playing game set in the Wolfenstein universe. You play as B.J. Blaszkowicz, captured by the Nazis, with your goal to escape custody and infiltrate Castle Wolfenstein to foil the Nazis plans. The overall visuals and design are based on Wolfenstein 3D but with a more "cartoony" vibe to it, alongside a new take on gameplay with turn-based combat and consistent dialogue and cutscenes adding a deeper level of immersion to the game.

Originally released in 1993 as a sequel to 1989's "Prince of Persia", The Shadow and the Flame received a full remake in 2013 by Ubisoft Pune for Android and iOS devices. The remake maintained the same storyline and level layouts as the original but completely overhauled both the visuals and movement, making things much smoother and more enjoyable for the modern era.

Releasing the same day as the film on July 20, 2012 for Android and iOS, The Dark Knight Rises was Gameloft's take on the popular "Batman: Arkham" series seen on consoles. Based on the films plot but altered to tell its own version of it, the gameplay is very similar to that of the Arkham series by Rocksteady but simplified for mobile controls with punchy, counter-based combat, grappling and gliding alongside visuals that look great for a mobile game and a semi open world for you to traverse in between missions or complete side activities for XP and in-game currency.

Released in 2016 to coincide with the movies debut, Suicide Squad: Special Ops was a free, wave-based shooter for Android, iOS and Windows PC devices. In Special Ops, you choose to play as Deadshot, El Diablo or Harley Quinn in an attempt to survive as long as possible through endless waves of enemies in increasing difficulty, gaining upgrades to help you stay alive every few rounds. At the end of each round you can choose to switch characters or remain the same, with each character playing quite differently to the others. Once a character dies, they are dead for the remainder of the game, and once all three characters are killed the game is over and your score is recorded.
Strangely, despite being an official movie game and releasing in 2016, little official information seems to be available online, making it a game likely forgotten about by most other than those that played it at the time.

Originally releasing for Xbox Live Arcade in 2007, Prince of Persia Classic saw a similar, if not downgraded, release on iOS in 2011 and Android in 2012. A remake of the original 1989 game, Prince of Persia Classic sought to recreate the initial game to an outstandingly accurate degree; keeping the gameplay, animations and movement almost identical while vastly updating the visuals for the modern era.

NOTE: This longplay is of the January 2007 build of the game (the latest build available online). Many of the areas seen in this demo are not ordered correctly by default but, thanks to the power of editing, I was able to arrange them in the most accurate representation of what we might have seen in the final version.
Originally released on consoles and PC in 2006, a version of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion was also being developed for the Sony PlayStation Portable (PSP). Unfortunately, this version of the game was cancelled in late 2007 but never officially announced as such to the public, leading it to be lost to time for close to a decade. However, in 2016, 5 demo builds of the game were uploaded online, giving us a glimpse into what the game might have been like had it been finished.
The demo has a few levels strung together by default to give you an idea of the different areas you might have traveled, but a lot of the levels provided were hidden away in menus. As a result, I have compiled all of the content seen in the build and ordered them accordingly to best recreate what the game would have looked like .

Released in 2014 by Gameloft, Brothers in Arms 3 is the third in the series of Android/iOS Brothers in Arms games. Like the first game, BiA 3 is a third-person mission based shooter, split up over 10 Campaigns with various missions and contracts to complete to progress. Each campaign has 3-6 main story missions to complete alongside 10 "raid" missions (smaller, single objective missions), with each campaign requiring you to finish all main missions as well as 5-10 raid missions to progress. These missions generally require you to kill a certain target(s), collect or destroy a certain number of items or survive for a set period of time.
The major setback for this game is its free-to-play nature, with weapon and brother upgrades as well as general items (medkits, grenades etc) to to be locked behind in-game currencies and wait timers, requiring you to either grind out previous missions or spend real-world money in order to progress.

Released in December 2010, Eternal Legacy was Gameloft's take on the popular "Final Fantasy" series, featuring extremely similar settings, characters, mechanics and storylines to those seen in Squares franchise.
Eternal Legacy is your typical turn-based JRPG; run around areas collecting items while running into enemies out in the field that take you into a battle screen where you take turns dishing out attacks at each other. Gameloft's take on this is fine, if not very repetitive, with constant battles that are seemingly endless at times due to the enemies not having health bars to see any progress being made. Outside of the combat, exploration is limited and basic and the game presents you with a large arrow pointing towards the next objective at all times, so no real exploration is even needed to progress.

Released on iOS in 2011 and Android in 2012, Call of Duty: Black Ops - Zombies was both a port of the zombies mode from 2010's Call of Duty: Black Ops and a sequel to "Call of Duty: World at War - Zombies", released a couple of years prior. The game serves as a faithful adaptation of the console versions zombies mode on the go, featuring near identical mechanics and maps.
The main goal of the game is to survive as many waves as possible, unlocking new areas and upgrading equipment along the way to increase your chances of survival. Each map requires you to find a fuse box to restore power to the area, opening up more opportunities, as well as a secret objective to figure out which rewards you with access to a "Pack-A-Punch" machine upon completion, allowing you to upgrade your weapons even further. There are 3 main maps available alongside a top down, twin stick shooter mode called "Dead Ops Arcade".

Gangstar: New Orleans, also known as Gangstar 5, is the 5th main installment in the 3D Gangstar series, developed by Gameloft for Android, iOS and Windows 10. The game remains as a competitor to Rockstars' "Grand Theft Auto" series seen on consoles and mobile, both sharing very similar gameplay mechanics.
In New Orleans you play as an unnamed, silent protagonist, tasked with taking over the city district by district, forming your own gang to collectively take down the cities main leader "Jackson Duke". The main story focuses on assisting people throughout the city with various jobs in exchange for their loyalty to help take down Duke, while the secondary story involves completing dozens of mini-missions around the city to take control of each district or "turf", allowing you to take on the leader of each turf once you have gain enough control. This video focuses on the story mode, as the turf mode of the game requires you to play through these mini-missions multiple times each and is designed to keep you playing for a long time, not something that can easily fit into a single video unfortunately.
The Android and iOS versions of the game are identical, while the PC version varies in a few ways. Namely, the PC version hasn't been updated since 2017, so any new additions to the game are absent. The introduction and tutorial section on the PC version is also vastly different to the mobile version. For a full break down of the differences, check out the link below:

Released exclusively on iOS devices at the end of 2010, Naughty Bear for iPhone and iPad was a simple Pac-Man style arcade game based on the console game of the same name. You play as Naughty Bear, tasked with completing a specific goal per level; killing a certain amount of bears, collecting a certain amount of cupcakes or reaching a certain score (by killing bears in rapid succession). The game is split into 27 levels, recycling these 3 objectives on repeat while introducing new enemy types to mix things up as the game progresses.

Released in April 2014, shortly before the films debut in May, The Amazing Spider-Man 2 for Android and iOS very loosely follows the plot of the film but largely stands on its own compared to the console and PC versions of the game.
Gameloft did an incredible job at fitting an open world Spider-Man game on your phone, with great visuals and fast, fluid gameplay to keep you entertained. The story structure requires you to tackle various crimes or events across the city to keep things under control, with each action completed adding to a progression meter to unlock the next main event. The game is split into 8 Episodes with each Episode focusing on a different villain or villains, such as Electro, Green Goblin, Rhino and Kraven.

Released exclusively on iOS devices in November 2009, Call of Duty: World at War - Zombies was a near direct port of the Zombies mode from Call of Duty: World at War for consoles and PC. Alongside the addition of a tutorial level, Zombies for iOS brings 4 iconic maps from World at War and its DLCs to mobile devices, with the main goal to stay alive as long as you can against increasingly difficult waves of infected. Some levels also include additional objectives to keep you occupied while you survive, often rewarding you for your efforts with power-ups and new weapon options.

Released by Glu Mobile in 2014 on Android and iOS devices, RoboCop was a free to play tie-in game for the movie of the same name. The game centers around RoboCop undergoing rigorous training in virtual environments to prepare him for the real world, tasked with taking down 25 "Bosses" alongside anyone in their way. In order to successfully progress through the main missions however, you must level up both RoboCops suit along with the appropriate weapon for the job, requiring you to complete side missions to earn in-game currency and XP to level up. This can be quite a grind however, so the game allows you to purchase said currency with real world money, a classic free to play tactic.

Released by Gameloft in January 2011 for Android and iOS devices, Sacred Odyssey: Rise of Ayden was essentially their attempt at creating a Zelda-like RPG. A classic plot about saving a princess, simple comparisons such as opening chests, sword and shield combat, new abilities unlocked as you progress, dungeons with enemies, platforming and puzzles, horse-back riding and a navi-esque companion fairy to tie it all together. Despite it's obvious inspiration, like with many Gameloft games, Sacred Odyssey still stands as a very impressive mobile game and a great addition to their library.

While the game released alongside the console versions of the same name in June 2012 (A couple of weeks before the film's release), The Amazing Spider-Man for Android and iOS stands alone as a completely separate game to those on console.
Developed by Gameloft, the plot of the game loosely follows that of the film, taking creative liberties to create its own storyline based on what was known about the story before the film released. Gameplay is very similar to most other 3D Spider-Man games, largely focused on either web swinging to reach certain objectives or engaging with enemies through close quarters combat. For a mobile game, The Amazing Spider-Man is quite an impressive feat and was still an absolute joy to play through today.

Released towards the end of 2017, shortly after the release of Assassin’s Creed: Origins, Rebellion was a free-to-play 2D strategy-RPG game built for mobile devices. The game centred around the Spanish Brotherhood established by Aguilar de Nerha to fight back against the Inquisition.
Gameplay is fairly simple; players choose up to 3 assassins to take with them on a mission to then traverse through the level by making movement or combat decisions based on a percentage chance of succession. Outside of missions you could use recourses and currency to upgrade your bureau and assassins to make it possible to tackle future missions.
Unfortunately, the game does not allow you to level up assassins through gameplay, instead, you collect said resources from completing missions which can then be used to upgrade them. As a result of this, the game quickly becomes an egregious grind to keep up with the level requirement to progress. The cost of micro-transactions is insane too, asking for people to spend on average $60 on a single character, making it almost impossible to collect everyone in the game.

Released on iOS and Java devices in November 2008, The Fast and the Furious: Pink Slip 3D was a simple racing game based on the franchise of the same name. The game featured a quick play mode which threw you into a random event, a multiplayer mode to race against your friends or an arcade mode which was essentially the games campaign.
The Arcade mode was split into 4 difficulties consisting of 4 races in each difficulty ( Road Racing, Drift Racing, Drag Racing and Cop Chases), where completing each race in a difficulty would unlock the next. Wining a race also won you the car you bet against, while losing the event would cause you to lose the car you were racing with. The main goal of the game was to complete all available races, wining all available cars in each race to complete your garage collection.

Released exclusively for iOS devices in 2012, Urban Crime was Gameloft's attempt at making a freemium version of their popular "Gangstar" series. Set in the same universe and shortly after the events of Gangstar: Miami Vindication, the plot revolves around gang warfare in Miami, with the goal to take over each region in the city to gain full control. This is achieved through a variety of randomly generated missions that progress your power in that region, with the option to take down the leader and take control of said region when you have made enough progress.
The game is unfortunately little more than a clear cash-grab attempt, using the same map, audio and assets seen in Gangstar: Miami Vindication (released 2 years prior) while removing any real story or progression and locking even the most basic mechanics behind pay-walls or serious grinding. Even something as simple as hi-jacking a car (a staple in these GTA style games) is often locked behind needing to be a certain level to drive most cars in the game, meaning you either have to grind out randomly generated missions to gain access or pay real-world money to purchase in-game currency to unlock the vehicles that way. Missions are also extremely basic and repetitive, often requiring you to kill someone, protect someone, race someone or steal something, and with takeover progression being awfully slow, you'll be doing a lot of these missions to get anywhere in the game.

Released alongside film of the same name in October of 2011, the video game adaptations of The Adventures of Tintin came to all major consoles and mobile devices at the time. Strangely enough though, the Android and iOS versions of the games, developed and published by Gameloft, were the best versions of the game and were quite substantially different to it's console counterparts. While the console releases saw Tintin largely as a 2D platformer, the mobile versions are full 3D adventures featuring 3D movement, interactive cutscenes and various gameplay mechanics to keep you engaged and entertained. The mobile versions of the games also reviewed much higher than the console ones, and are the definitive versions of Tintin by far.
