Db SpaceFace Recording Session - Guitar Recording #guitar #music #recording #grunge Db SpaceFace 2025-10-20 | I spent my Sunday smashing out guitar parts for a couple of my super-new songs. While the majority of the album has been completed (minus proper mixing & mastering), I find myself currently pumping out tonnes of new songs which I keep deciding also need to be recorded for the new album. This song is the newest of them, written during a sudden creative explosion at 2am on Saturay night. The drums, bass & main guitar parts were all recorded today (Sunday). I've really loving the riffs in this one and the swing groove felt throughout the song. I can't stop moving to it. The tone is clear but vicious and the overall vibe is menacing. I love it. I hope you enjoy. This vid contains the first 90 seconds or so of the parts I knocked out today! OH also, this is the TikTok debut of my newest guitar purchase!! My Yamaha Revstar. I have a thing for Japanese guitars and Yamaha is a brand which pumps out insanely underrated guitars. I'd rate the Revstar at the same level as my Japanese Fender Jag & equal or better to anything Gibson releases, despite being half the price of those brands. It's a beast. I love it. The copper red finish is also amazing! Love you all!
Db SpaceFace - Improvising/Soloing (Live on TikTok) Db SpaceFace 2025-10-12 | I've had a few people say I can't shred on guitar because I never really write solo's into my songs or play covers with them. But it's not because I can't, it's because the songs never need them. If you saw me rehearsing or noodling around at home, about half of what I do is shredding. It's fun to mindlessly do, but it's not really much of a songwriting tool for me. I do whatever the song wants/needs and rarely is that somebody playing as many notes as possible in a short time-span.Even the shredding I do is usually alot more rythmic and not just blinding fast notes which aren't really perveying anything more than speed & skill. Anyways, here's a video of what I usually get upto between songs when I'm just jamming out at home. It's also how I warm up. And yes, I had been on a bit of a bender when this was filmed. Enjoy or something.

It's a bit more dramatic & brighter sounding than theirs primarily because I play it in a different tuning (they tuned down for it, I've kept it in E-standard. Honestly, I mainly kept it in E because I couldn't be screwed tuning the whole guitar down for one song, it works though, it gives it a bit of a different, more desperate vibe).I really dig playing this one. Forgive my appearance in this video, this was filmed on the sketchy side of a two night bender and I definitely look the part. Hope you enjoy!
Db SpaceFace - Exit Music (For A Film )(Live on TikTok - Radiohead cover) Db SpaceFace 2025-10-05 | Db SpaceFace - Exit Music (For a Film) - Radiohead cover.I loooooove playing this song and it's one of my favourite Radiohead songs in general. It's existential and explosive Jekyll & Hyde nature/dynamic is really suited to my grungy style. One thing that irks me is that people rarely cover Radiohead, and 99% of the time when they do, they swap out obligated big projected note at the climax of a lot of their songs for a weak falsetto replacement. It just ruins the climax that those big projected notes are supposed to provide and the emotion that comes with them. It's the best part of the song from a performer perspective, it's so cathartic, you feel like everything negative your soul is holding onto just explodes out of your body with force and you feel instant temporary relief. *sigh* I miss being on stage and doing this in front of crowds of people, there is nothing better for my soul than that feedback loop of positive energy and shared positive experience which comes from playing a show to a room full of people who are going nuts. It's a feeling unlike anything else on this planet, I need more of that. There is news coming on that front though, so I'm not worried and neither should you be. I've always had a love of covering obscure songs nobody in my audience knows and making them my own. A lot of time they'll go home and look the original song up and then be surprised a 2nd time because it sounds nothing like my version.I really enjoy slipping this into shows, it's fun to play and generally goes down pretty well considering the environment most gigs are played in. I've always loved the imagery of Picasso living out the lyrics to this song in this final moments. I know it's not real, but everyone wishes they could say goodbye and have one parting goodbye to the people that make them feel alive.Hope you enjoy! It's a bit rough but I spontaneously wanted to show everyone this tune, so played/record it in one take without rehearsal (I haven't played it in 6 months!!).

It's a song I love singing and have always enjoyed performing. This performance was a bit rough, but I haven't really slept over the last two weeks due to working during the day and finishing off my second album during the night.. While also looking for a new place and designing my new studio (and purchasing everything I need). Stuff has been insanely hectic. Anyways, hope you enjoy. On a side note, the filter I used to adjust the shading is causing all sorts of weird artifacts in the background of this video, it's pretty awesome, it's pretty similar to what I've been seeing with my own eyes due to exhaustion and lack of sleep lately. On another note, J Mascis, the guitarist, singer and song writer from Dinosaur Jr, has been a guitar Idol of mine for as long as I can remember.

The song was taken from a live recording of an improvisation we did about our hatred of the then Prime Minister of Australia Tony Abbott and everything he stood for. The footage was taken from several dozen shows we'd done, with the desire to give people a similar experience to watching our live show on acid. This band was more performance art than music itself, I was insane on amphetamines and young man angst, punching out at the world and trying to make a difference by screaming at the clouds. Great memories, bad music, amazing shows. You had to be there I guess. We never got a good version of this recorded in the studio. It was originally meant to be on the 'Soundtrack for the Cultural Apocalypse' album but I became very sick towards the end of the recording process and could never finish the vocals for it within' the studio time we could afford. This is also the same reason the vocals are rouuuugh throughout that album and why I sounded so sick. We had a hard deadline and near-sell out launch show weeks away, the album had to be finished one way or the other. I always regret not having a finished studio version of this. I might record it as a Db SpaceFace song.... I don't know. Deadbeat Society - Were Fine (Official Video - 2016) Db SpaceFace 2023-05-28 | In the spirit of today's 107th running of the Indianapolis 500, here is the music video I released in 2016 with Deadbeat Society. The music video contains footage of early Indy 500 chaos to draw a related comparison between Indycar drivers and insane creatives. The song is specifically about how from the outside looking in, all creatives are purely insane. The combination of obsessive dedication, mental illness & pushing boundaries in all aspects of life combine to create a spiralling self destructive & impossibly chaotic yet artistically powerful existence is mind bending to everybody on the outside looking in, to us, it's normal. We're fine. This is our existence. The film clip points out how this is also very relevant to racecar drivers (and other extreme activity participants). It seems like they're absolutely insane doing what they're doing, but they love it, they live it, they're fine. Life is chaos, art is life trying to understand chaos and motorsports is chaos gamified by life.
