Your heart yearns to walk in solitude through the woods. Not one to deny your heart, you head for the local forest. You enter the woods and savor each sensation: the soothing sounds of the birds, the smell of dew and fresh dirt, the satisfying crunch of leaves and stones under your feet. You are drawn towards a path punctuated by a half-fallen tree. You feel a strange and pleasant tingling in your feet and your chest, drawing you towards this trail. You have never walked this path. Now that you think about it, you’ve never even noticed it before. But something in your body gently guides you down the trail and further into the forest.
You are soon greeted by the rhythmic 'woosh' of a clean and cool river, its waters dappled by the rising rays of the morning sun. You sit by the water and breathe in its cool and refreshing mist. The water is so pure that you know the nearby village uses the river as its water supply. You form a cup with your hands, dip them into the river and take a sip, smiling as the cool water moves through your body.
You saunter on lazily, unrushed. You come to a meadow full of wildflowers. They are so delicate and beautiful. You sit in the grass and admire the daisies and the tulips as they bandy about in the breeze. You have nothing to do. Nowhere to be. You feel calm and relaxed.
Presently, you notice that the wind is picking up - could a storm be rolling in? A gentle roll of thunder rumbles through the air as dark clouds rush in, confirming your suspicions. You like the rain, and know that you are safe in the forest. You hide under a friendly tree branch and listen to the symphony of pouring rain. You feel relaxed, content, and calm.
As the storm clears up, the sun begins to dip beneath the hills. You should head home - but once again, you feel that pleasant tingling sensation in your chest and feet. You don’t know why, but you feel like something in the forest is asking you to come closer. As you head deeper into the woods, an amber glow envelopes you. Fairies and fireflies flit about you as you walk through the trees and the ferns. They don’t speak, but you hear them anyway: “Rest here tonight. You are safe in our forest.” Suddenly overcome by sleepiness, you lay down on a bed of moss. You drift off to sleep, with the music of the fairies fading in your ears, the moon and stars glowing down on you.

You find a statue of a mermaid, and sit nearby, staring at the sky and listening to the gulls flying overhead and the buoys in the harbor. You are drawn back to the sea by a mysterious siren, whose dance seems to hypnotize you into total relaxation. As you drift off to sleep, enjoy the rhythm of the waves breaking under the moon. A special thanks to all of the farms who provided me with photos of their mazes. Please visit these farms and take a stroll through their mazes if you get the chance.
Additional thanks to The MAiZE Inc for supplying photos.
Please let me know if I got anything wrong in this video. I do not want to misinform anyone.
(Note: The Wikipedia entry for corn mazes says that there were corn mazes as early as the 1980s. However, the reference they list that backs up this claim links to a newspaper advertisement from 1996. After looking up this reference and doing additional digging, I could not find evidence of corn mazes before 1993. If you have additional information, please share in the comments below.)
