Mr. Cat: Making the Music LilDeuceDeuce 2012-10-21 | A behind-the-scenes look at creating the music for "Mr. Cat," directed/written by TomSka (http://www.youtube.com/tom) and animated by Zeurel (http://www.youtube.com/zeurel).This video contains older music demos that I created for "Mr. Cat," as well as a short excerpt from a music demo by Stephen Grant (http://www.youtube.com/sherbetheadmusic) and Tom.The version of the animation I used here is from an earlier working copy; some minor revisions can be seen in the final version on Tom's channel: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rmuj7KJV-2wIf anyone is curious about the process, I didn't actually see any of these visuals until after I completed the music. Tom gave me a shotlist with numbers for timing and asked me to underscore these points:Mr Cat:Few seconds of Mr Cat just sleepin' in front of a fire00:01 - Mr Cat wakes up and decides to go for a wander00:08 - He makes his way out of the house and across the garden00:16 - He travels across town, jumpin' rooftops, passing other cats like a boss00:32-00:48 - Comes across a house (perhaps lured in by the smell of food?) and heads in and walks in on me playing video games on a sofa. He wanders around and ends up sitting next to me00:48 - I turn and see him pawing at console controller on the sofa.00:56 - I pick up a camera and film Mr Cat 'playing' video games (I'd imagine at a sort of side on angle) and realise how amazing the footage is.01:04 - I boot up a computer and play back the clip with Mr Cat by my side01:12 - We turn and look at each other, wide eyed and in awe. Mr Cat nods, knowing what must be done.01:19 - UPLOAD01:20 - The video gets tonnes of views, the view counter rocks up. Comments read of how amazing that damn cat is.01:28 - The video gets ripped, re-uploaded, parodied. Remixes show alternate angles of Mr Cat playing video games amazingly or infuriating that German kid who wants to play Unreal Tournament and such. Basically, the usual stuff that happens to a viral. The phone rings!01:36 - It's the media! Limos pick us up and we're on loads of different TV shows, doing interviews, getting fat stacks of cash, performing live.01:44 - More glamour from here, maybe there's even a Mr Cat movie made and show in cinemas? Basically shit gets crazy and we're both so damn rich!01:52 - Me and Mr Cat look out over the city from a penthouse suite, so damn chill.01:54 - Mr Cat gestures or meows, understood by me that he has to go home. I offer him a stack of money but he refuses. I offer him a fish which he accepts.02:00 - From a helipad he is picked up and flown back to his home where he hops out in front of the door02:08 - He wanders into his house and plops down either in front of the fire or on a chair where he is patted by his owner.02:16 - He is content.
