Official Moshcam concert for “Where We Go When We Die” by Thornhill, performed live at Liberty Hall
ARIA Award-nominated 2022 album Heroine, Thornhill solidified an undeniable reputation as one of the most innovative and immersive heavy acts in the Australian scene. Debuting at #3 on the ARIA Album chart, Heroine also debuted at #1 on the Australian Album chart, and has since had more than 8.5 million streams to date.
Rounding out a huge 2022 appearing at Good Things Festival with headliners Bring Me The Horizon and many more in Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane, Thornhill also ticked off some of their biggest Australian shows to date last year, selling out most of their headline tour, supporting The Butterfly Effect nationally, and performing their first ever US headline shows on the East Coast alongside fellow Moshcam alumni, Alpha Wolf.

Official Moshcam concert for “Casanova” by Thornhill, performed live at Liberty Hall
"Melbourne-formed and dominating the country, Thornhill ultimately wants to showcase what can be made of heavy and rock music when there are no borders. With an acclaimed 2019 debut album and a groundbreaking sophomore, the band has woven a tapestry of influences together to create a genre-shaping sound concocted of metalcore, alternative, heavy rock, and it works beyond measure. Cinematic in scale and ground-roots where it counts, Thornhill are the Aussie metalcore’s greatest success story in the making."

Official Moshcam concert for “Weirder & Weirder” by Ball Park Music, performed live at Enmore Theatre
Meeting whilst studying music at university in Queensland, the 5-piece that is Ball Park Music are inseparable. Drawing on the alt-rock scene of the 90’s and the golden hits of the 60’s, the group have released six impressive albums, four of which scoring top 5 spots on the ARIA album charts. We were there to catch their gig live at the Enmore Theatre in Sydney on Friday May 26th, 2023 and can testify - this is the show you’ll be watching on repeat for years to come.

The phrase ‘all killer, no filler’ has never been applied more appropriately than to the three albums (so far!) from New Zealand’s truly fabulous The Beths. From the hook laden fuzzy pop and energy of the first album to the somewhat broader palettes of the second and third, every song is an absolute winner. We were fortunate enough to catch them in late 2022 when they formed part of the Paul Kelly Making Gravy bill (great choice Paul!). This show is worth putting on repeat!

Live at the Oxford Art Factory, Sydney. We last caught these Australian dance legends back in 2011 following the release of their hugely successful debut album The Experiment. (You can also see that 2011 show on Moshcam). Fast forward to 2022 and the guys finally release just their third album Big Overdrive (OK, they’re not winning any ‘hardest working band in showbiz’ awards, but each release has been a knockout!) and we thought it was definitely a good time to check back in with this show captured in late 2022. And we weren’t disappointed!

Live at Max Watt’s, Melbourne. Rejoice! These Australian metal legends reformed in 2022 after a 15 year hiatus - that’s quite a while between drinks fellas! We bashed down the door to capture one of their first shows and they sure as hell didn’t disappoint with this blistering before a hugely appreciative crowd. Curious about the origins of the name? Well they started life as Messiah, but had to change it because of another UK band of the same name. So what did they do? Well, according to vocalist/guitarist Jason Brown "we looked up Messiah in the dictionary and one of the meanings was 'liberators of the oppressed' so we took the first letter of each word to form LOTO and SUNK from the sinking of the first name”. Welcome back guys, you’ve been missed - and we can’t wait to see what 2023 brings!

Live at Oxford Art Factory, Sydney. Definitely a band to watch and one we had been looking forward to capturing since we heard their debut EP, Tranquilize. A Melbourne based indie-pop trio, they’ve been garnering rave reviews for both their recordings and their live shows ever since their formation in 2020. NME had this to say about the Tranquilize EP: “A startingly well-formed debut. It’s rare for a band to arrive with such a polished and defined aesthetic this early. Telenova’s universe is so well realised, you’ll be leaving footsteps in the band’s saturated deserts the moment you step through their portal”. No, we don’t know what that means either but we’re pretty sure they’re fans! The Music described their live shows (which regularly sell out) as “dark and moody with a lush, nostalgic indie-pop feel”. Us? We just love ‘em and think great things lie ahead for them. This show from late 2022 was in support of their amazing second EP, Stained Glass Love. Check ‘em out and let us know what you think!

Live at the Sidney Myer Music Bowl, Melbourne. It wouldn’t be Christmas in Australia without sun, sand…and the annual Paul Kelly Making Gravy show! As we head towards the end of 2022, we couldn’t pass up the opportunity to bring you one of Australia’s greatest singer/songwriters, with his cracking band, in front of a capacity crowd at the Sidney Myer Music Bowl just a couple of short weeks ago. As ever, the Making Gravy shows always bring the hits - this year with added Christmas cheer, and more than a few choice covers just to round out one hell of a night.

Yeah, you know Phil Jamieson alright. Known around the country as “Phil from Grinspoon”, he was (and remains) a founding member of that much loved Australian band. But in 2022, Phil decided it was time to spread his wings and release his first ever solo album, ‘Somebody Else’. When he announced a small club date to introduce the new album, we jumped at the opportunity to add the show to our World Stage project. In fine form with hooks to burn, it was a great ‘welcome back’ for an absolute legend.

Live at the Northcote Theatre, Melbourne. This party out of bounds from Australia’s internationally renowned electro-pop maestros is the latest welcome addition to Moshcam’s World Stage project. Not for nothing did they win Live Pop Act of The Year at the 2018 National Live Music Awards. Following the release of their most recent album ‘TILT’ in April this year (and a performance at Glastonbury no less), we’ve been hanging out to capture these guys in full flight - and here they are in this fabulous new Melbourne venue! Mojo described their new album as the feel-good hit album of 2022 (and don’t we all need that right now!) whilst Clash Music (giving the album a 9/10 rating) summed it up beautifully: “unapologetic bangers with tongue planted firmly in cheek and furious, feminist bent, TILT is the album you need in your life.” If you don’t know them already, you most certainly soon will.

How best to describe this Australian guitar virtuoso? Perhaps we’ll just let others do it for us! Guitar World readers ranked his first album ‘Handmade Cities’ at number 5 in a poll of the 20 best guitar records of the 2010s. Steve Vai no less described him as “the future of exceptional guitar playing.”
PROG Mind simply said (of his most recent album ‘Impulse Voices’ which it rated an astounding 9/10) “One thing about the guitar greats that always sticks out immediately is their ability to innovate and create a signature sound. Gilmour had it. Hackett had it. Hendrix had it. The list goes on. Plini has that same skill” and also described Plini’s music as both “melodic and beautiful”. We were lucky enough to capture this all too rare set from Plini when he was a special guest support at the Nothlane show earlier this year (recently released here on Moshcam). Dive in and get swept away.

Live at The Forum, Melbourne. Variously described over the years as ‘metalcore’, ‘progressive metalcore’, alternative metal’, 'industrial metal’ and ‘nu metal’ (amongst other sub-genres), we’re pretty sure you’re getting the picture! Formed in Sydney, Australia in 2009, these guys are currently crushing it more than ever. We captured the band in stellar form earlier this year as they barnstormed around the country in support of their sixth (and amazing) album ‘Obsidian’ released in April 2022. This was one of two nights at Melbourne’s Forum Theatre and the band served up an extraordinary performance to the sold out (and mental!) crowd. Turn it up!

Rising metalcore crew Polaris formed back in 2012 when the founding members met at a high school ‘battle of the bands’ – and when Ryan Siew (on guitar) joined in 2013, he was just 15 (already an undeniable shred legend!) - so these guys are only getting started. Having released two killer albums already (both nominated for ARIA Awards) with another waiting in the wings, they’re currently touring at home and internationally in long overdue support (cheers COVID) of their 2020 album ‘The Death of Me’. Expect plenty of brutal cuts from that album, performed with an intensity that underlines the band’s pent-up frustration at having to sit on these monster tracks for two long years. Apart from the music itself, this is a visually stunning show in an epic sold-out venue – captured in all its glory earlier this year as part of our World Stage project. Check it out!

Live at the Metro Theatre, Sydney. With an Australian heavy-hitter line-up of Nick Allbrook, Shiny Joe, and Jay Watson (plus long time friend and occasional collaborator Kevin Parker), this stellar Australian outfit are giants in the psych/rock scene in Australia and internationally. Not surprisingly, we were over the moon when they jumped at the chance to be part of Moshcam’s World Stage Project earlier this year and we’re pleased to be able to offer you an exclusive, first ever live performance of Pond's ‘Human Touch’ - for free!!

The pop-tastic duo of Oli and Louis Leimbach, aka the fabulous Lime Cordiale, are the latest addition to our World Stage series. With the help of their equally talented brothers in (touring) arms, the guys got the capacity crowd at the Hordern jumping recently and we were there to capture it all. They've had multiple entries in the Triple J Top 100 and, in 2021, they deservedly won the ARIA Award for Best Australian Live Act for the Relapse tour – but the "14 Steps to a Better You" Tour takes it to the next level! One of those very special nights – brought to you exclusively by Moshcam. You’re welcome!

OK, time for the World Stage project to turn it up with these Melbourne based metalcore legends. We caught these guys during their scorching 2022 tour through Australia just ahead of their northern hemisphere dates (where they’re currently tearing up the US and Canada before turning their sights on the UK and Europe later in the year). After witnessing their blistering support slot for Polaris at our recent Roundhouse shoot (spoiler alert - coming to Moshcam real soon!), we knew their Factory headline show would make for an amazing concert film unto itself - and how right we were! Featuring killer songs from their ARIA nominated second album ‘A Quiet Place To Die’, this is a show all heavy metal fans need to check out.

Australian indie-pop at its finest, these guys are legends in the making. Still early in what we expect will be a stellar career, they’re driving down the same roads as bands like The Strokes and Vampire Weekend but carving their own distinctive and melodic path. We had the opportunity to film them as part of our World Stage series when they picked up the coveted support slot for Lime Cordiale on their recent Australian tour.

In his own words “Andy Golledge is a livewire and a gentle soul, trapped in a 70s tuna fisherman’s body. He looks like your old man back in the day, sounds like Neil Young, with the energy of Springsteen, and a vulnerability all his own”. Couldn’t have summarised it any better ourselves! This Australian alt-country artist’s shows are amongst some of the funnest and most joyous shows we’ve ever witnessed, and we were thrilled when he agreed to be part of our World Stage project. Following the release of his debut album ‘Strength of a Queen’ in March 2022, he undertook a short tour culminating in this memorable sold out show in Sydney. Given the energy and love in the room, we think it’s highly unlikely you’ll ever see him at such close quarters again. Andy, we gotta take our shirt off to ya (and many audience members agreed!) – this one was a blinder.

Another very welcome addition to our World Stage series is Brisbane based Sasha McLeod, better known as Sycco (who you may have seen join the stage with The Jungle Giants in their earlier show in this series). Still very early in what is clearly going to be a stellar career, Sycco has already released a number of great songs which led, in part, to her picking up a nomination for Triple J Unearthed Artist of the Year in 2020. Earlier this year, she released her latest single “Superstar” to rave reviews and, naturally, that song is front and centre of this great show from March this year. This is one artist you’re going to hear a lot more of in coming years – and remember folks, you saw her here first

Another great Australian act to join our World Stage 2022 project. Please welcome to the stage the fantastic Ocean Alley with their "cruisey psych, rock and reggae fusion" (thanks Happy, couldn’t have described it better ourselves!). Originally from the northern beaches of Sydney, they are now taking on the world. We captured them here in early 2022 before a capacity crowd at Brisbane’s fabulous Riverstage. Get on board!

Brisbane natives, The Jungle Giants, blew away the Riverstage in early 2022 during a long-overdue celebration of their 2021 release, Love Signs. Showcasing songs from that album (the title track of which finished high up in Triple J’s Hottest 100 for 2021), the show was non-stop energy and the audience responded in kind.

Self-acknowledged by Ash Naylor (singer/guitar/songs) as being heavily influenced by the best of sixties and seventies rock (and you know that can’t be a bad thing!), this ‘Christmas Even’ show (yep, filmed on the eve of Christmas) at the fabulous Brunswick Ballroom in Melbourne has it all – new songs from Even's awesome 2021 release (5 stars in The Guardian!) ‘Reverse Light Years’, crowd favourites over the years, special guests and a few choice covers for good measure.
