Kardavox Academy 2025-10-19 | Is Carcosa's new album worth the four year wait?

I'm on record as being a fan of @carcosabc I'm also on record as always being dismally behind on releases. So, I had no Idea Carcosa was dropping a new deathcore album until about a week ago. Once I found out about "The Axe Forgets, The Tree Remembers", I knew I had to do a full album review. This album is, spoiler alert, top notch. The songs are deep and thoughtful while remaining heavy. The vocal performance is a phenomenal balance of power and aggression. The whole experience passes back and forth between rich ambience and crushing arrangements.

If you are new to Carcosa, you've Probably seen Andrew Baena and Johnny Ciardullo making fuggin hilarious metal memes. But they also release a ton of content showing massive amounts of musical talent.

And that's it. This description is kinda lame but it's midnight and I'm exhausted. But, it's worth it. Amazing album.

Igorrr is a band that I often forget about. Not because they aren't good. No, They're phenomenal! Always weird, always odd, always amazing. This is my first time hearing Daemoni and it was awesome to hear something fresh and new. Why? Because being a metal vocal coach and teaching people how to scream keeps me laser focused on deathcore most of the time. I thought it would be something heavy and angry but infinite Source by Deftones is a soothing, calming and...dare I say...artsy journey! The soft moments are perfectly set with the more powerful, full voice belted sections to create something contrasted but never jarring. Frankly I'm a bit thrown off, but in a VERY good way!
