Clips include sketches from the newly restored “Monty Python’s Flying Circus”, iconic scenes from “Monty Python & the Holy Grail,” “Monty Python’s Life of Brian,” and “Monty Python’s The Meaning of Life” and clips from the 2014 live show “Monty Python (live) - One Down Five to Go” and 2015 documentary “Monty Python The Meaning of Live.”
RIP Terry J.Michael Palins Super 8mm Film - Monty Pythons Flying Circus (1971)Monty Python2019-12-24 | Michael Palin’s Super 8mm film from 1971, when the Pythons were filming sketches for the 3rd series of "Monty Python’s Flying Circus" in Jersey. With new commentary from Michael Palin himself (recorded in July 2019).
The film shows the Monty Python cast and crew filming sketches for series 3 of “Monty Python’s Flying Circus” on the island of Jersey, prior to the studio recording sessions for the final 6 shows of the series.
Michael Palin rode Mr. Pither's bicycle around the island, which doubled for Devon, in "The Cycling Tour". He also faced a firing squad on the island, and John Cleese held up Eric Idle, Terry Jones, Graham Chapman and Carol Cleveland aboard a coach and horses as Dennis Moore, in the tight country lanes of the self-governing dependency. Michael says of the film: "I had a morning off and took film of the preparation for a sequence in which John Cleese as Moore holds up a passing stagecoach. Looking back now, I realise that the unique aspect of filming I captured that day was its boredom. In that way it is, at least, an honest bit of footage and remains almost the only movie material of Python at work in those early days of the TV series Michael says of the film: "I had a morning off and took film of the preparation for a sequence in which John Cleese as Moore holds up a passing stagecoach. Looking back now, I realise that the unique aspect of filming I captured that day was its boredom. With new commentary from Michael Palin himself (recorded in July 2019). The final pre-production script for "The Life of Brian" was finished and ready to go by January 1978, but not without a couple of weeks focused writing in sunny Barbados. The Pythons wrote for six hours a day for the two weeks they were there. The 'there' is Heron Bay, a house loaned to the group by a friend of Eric’s Michael Palin captured the fun of writing under the Caribbean sun with his trusty Super 8mm camera, which also travelled with him to Monastir in Tunisia in 1978 for the filming of “The Life of Brian”. Michael says of the film: "Shot rather restlessly, I was as interested in panning about in trees, along limestone walls and front gates than I was in filming the Pythons, and I regret that".Eric Idle - F**K Christmas (Official Lyric Video)Monty Python2019-12-22 | Join Eric Idle in singing the festive ditty, “F**k Christmas,” with this official Monty Python karaoke-style lyric video.
This version of the track was recorded when Eric performed the song as part of his special appearance at Brian Cox and Robin Ince's "Christmas Compendium of Reason" at The Hammersmith Apollo, London on Friday 19 December, 2014.
If worrying is more your Christmas vibe, don’t forget to check out our latest single “I’m (still) So Worried” here (link: youtu.be/nT5JBrKC5M0)Monty Python - I’m (Still) So Worried (Music Video)Monty Python2019-11-27 | In celebration of Monty Python’s 50th anniversary, we have released an alternative country and western version of the Monty Python track, ‘I'm So Worried’, entitled ‘I’m (Still) So Worried,’ with this animated music video, which uses Terry Gilliam’s original ‘Monty Python’s Flying Circus’ animation artwork, to accompany it.
The song, written by Terry Jones, was originally written and recorded for the Monty Python’s 1980 album, ‘Monty Python's Contractual Obligation Album’ with this alternate version only discovered this year in the Monty Python sound archives.
How prescient the track is! Footwear fashion can still hurt like hell, and the baggage retrieval system at Heathrow is still nightmarish. Broadcasters are still very happy to flood the schedules with repeats, although that's including lots of Monty Python recently, so no complaints from us. The worry about "all the things that they dump in the sea" is now, at long last, a serious situation that we should all be worried about, and one that is finally being addressed by international governments: nearly forty years after Terry Jones wrote this song. He is clearly something of a prophet.

Hosted by Terry Gilliam, with special guest Sanjeev Bhaskar, 100s of men, women & children dressed as Gumbys, the iconic Monty Python character, descended upon the venue to enjoy Gumby sketches from the newly restored “Monty Python’s Flying Circus”, a Monty Python sing-along, a Q&A with Terry G and an after party with Terry G, Sanjeev and Monty Python-inspired cocktails. The rest of the Monty Python team were present as cardboard cut-outs, dotted in between the piles of rubber bricks & flower-arranging stations… and a World Record for the “largest gathering of people dressed as Gumbys” was set.

Video (concept, illustrations & animation) by Nate Merritt, with Terry G’s blessing Gumby voiced by David ArquetteFROM THE MONTY PYTHON ARCHIVE: DÉJÀ VU RESURRECTEDMonty Python2019-05-06 | What do you do with a tape that's been hidden away for over twenty five years? Why, get it played of course!
The tape is one of two original transmission tapes of "Monty Python's Flying Circus" that slipped through the net when the BBC made their digital masters in the early 1990s. The episode, "Déjà Vu”, the third episode of the second series, should have been part of that archiving process but for some reason the BBC's poorer quality sales copy was archived instead.
According to the paperwork, the tape hasn't been played since 1979, but it seemed fitting that it should be resurrected in Monty Python's 50th anniversary year.
The tape is a two-inch quadruplex recording, a format developed by Ampex in the 1950s. It was the workhorse of television broadcasters from 1958 until the late 1980s when it was superseded by more flexible formats. Ampex quad machines haven't been manufactured since the early 1980s, but working machines can still be found. This video shows the first time we played back "Déjà Vu", almost certainly the first time it has been played since the 1970s.

Highly controversial upon its original release and banned in several countries, “Monty Python’s Life of Brian” is frequently ranked as the greatest comedy feature of all time across the world.
Set in 33 A.D. Judea where the exasperated Romans try to impose order, it is a time of chaos and change with no shortage of messiahs and followers willing to believe in them. At its centre is Brian Cohen, born in Bethlehem in the stable next door, who, by a series of absurd circumstances is caught up in the new religion and reluctantly mistaken for the promised messiah, providing ample opportunity for the entire Monty Python ensemble (Graham Chapman, John Cleese, Terry Gilliam, Eric Idle, Terry Jones and Michael Palin) to shine in multiple roles as they question everyone and everything from ex-lepers, Pontius Pilate, from the art of haggling to revolutionaries, crazy prophets, religious fanaticism, Roman centurions and crucifixion, forever changing our biblical view.Monty Pythons Life of Brian 40th Anniversary Cinema TeaserMonty Python2019-03-14 | Find your local screening and book your tickets here - bit.ly/2FdUPZj Returning to cinemas for its 40th Anniversary, in glorious standard definition and mono-sound, Monty Python delivers a scathing, anarchic satire of both religion and Hollywood's depiction of all things biblical with their 1979 feature film "Life of Brian". Highly controversial upon its original release and banned in several countries, the film is now frequently ranked as the greatest comedy feature of all time by magazines and media outlets around the world. As Monty Python member Terry Gilliam says, “It rips bare and makes you laugh at the world we’ve created for ourselves.” Audiences will be able to join in the celebrations with a commemorative pack, available at cinema screenings on Thursday 18 April (subject to availability).Eric Idle talks about the inspiration behind his hit song Always Look On the Bright Side of LifeMonty Python2018-10-15 | Eric talks with “Monty Python’s Life of Brian” producer, John Goldstone, about the inspiration behind his hit song "Always Look On the Bright Side of Life” which is also the name of his new memoir, now available everywhere books are sold. In the book, Idle now reflects on the meaning of his own life and takes us on a remarkable, absurdly funny journey from his childhood spent in a charity boarding school through to his successful career in radio, comedy, television, theatre and film. Coming of age as a writer and comedian during the Sixties and Seventies, Idle stumbled into the crossroads of the Cultural Revolution and found himself rubbing shoulders with the likes of George Harrison, David Bowie and Robin Williams, all of whom became lifelong friends.
With anecdotes sprinkled throughout that involve such close friends and luminaries as Mick Jagger, Steve Martin, Paul Simon, Mike Nichols and many more – let alone the Pythons themselves – Idle captures a time of tremendous creative output with equal hilarity and heart. In ALWAYS LOOK ON THE BRIGHT SIDE OF LIFE, named after the song Eric wrote for LIFE OF BRIAN that has since become the number-one song played at funerals in the UK, he shares the highlights of his life and career with the offbeat humour that has delighted audiences for five decades.
Eric Idle says: ‘We used to be babe magnets. Now we’re fridge magnets. I thought it was time to tell my tale before I suffer from Hamnesia, which is what happens to elderly actors.’

Forty one years ago Rutland Weekend Television presented a Christmas Special on BBC2 starring Beatle, George Harrison. Now through lack of popular demand, it’s back. This time the special guest star is Professor Brian Cox. Unfortunately Professor Brian is late arriving from Patagonia where he’s been out of all cell phone touch and so doesn’t realise that his ‘lecture' about the birth of The Entire Universe is in fact a musical extravaganza arranged by Eric Idle and Robin Ince alongside The Muriel Tritt School of Music and Dance.

The last night of the 2014 Monty Python reunion shows, “Monty Python Live (mostly) - One Down Five to Go”, was broadcast live, on television and in cinemas, around the world. The first part of the show included the “Navel Medley” song, which contained words not permitted on UK television before the 9pm “watershed”. Rather than allowing the broadcaster to censor the show, Eric Idle came up with the idea of filming “An Apology”, starring Michael Palin as Daphne Fielding, to be broadcast at the time the offending song came on.
This clip from “Monty Python - The Meaning of Live” shows the behind-the-scenes of filming this “Apology” and Eric and Michael explaining how it came about.
