"We were evacuated to La Vista Hakodate Bay following the earthquake.
We relocated to the fourth floor due to the rising sea level. The first floor of La Vista Hakodate Bay was flooded.
During the night, the street lights go out. Multiple tsunami waves were observed near Hakodate port, resulting in extensive damage to the vehicles in the parking lot.
On March 12, 2011, in the early morning at La Vista Bay, despite limited reporting, the final tsunami waves arrived and inundated the streets of Hakodate."

"We were at Takayama, Shichigahama, Miyagi Ken on Mar 11. After we had tried to rescue our car (unsuccessfully) and looked after some Japanese women who had fled to our house we went to the cliff to see the 2nd tsunami drain back and 3rd tsunami come in, and took this video.
From what I can gather the 1st tsunami was 10 m (15h45), 2nd was 8m (16h14) and the 3rd was 6m (18h14). Between the 2nd and 3rd tsunamis the seabed was exposed to at least 700m where normally there is 4m depth of water so that is how we estimated it as 6m."

"Recorded from the parking lot of Sendai Shinko, a nationally famous surf spot. Roads were cut off by the tsunami, and people in the parking lot were stranded. There were no waves that day, so there was likely only one surfer. Video footage recorded by Zhang Gunyan at Yamatsumi Shrine shows the seafood processing company located in the Miyagasaki area, as the tsunami devastated the offices and factory.
The company's managing director, Mitsuru Sato, immediately evacuated 20 Chinese trainees and employees after the earthquake. After confirming the safety of his parents and older brother, Mr. Sato returned to the factory to ensure no one was left inside. The tsunami flooded the factory, and the water rose rapidly. Mr. Sato escaped to the roof but was tragically dragged away in front of the trainees who were on high ground, along with the company building.
The 20 Chinese trainees were rescued and later returned to their home countries, where they were reunited with their families. As an expression of gratitude for Mitsuru Sato's dedicated rescue of the trainees, a trainee dispatch company in Dalian sent five employees to Onagawa on the 26th to convey their condolences to Mitsuru Sato's older brother, Hitoshi Sato.

Video footage recorded by Kozue Morioka and his TV crew. Captured from a monitor or TV.
Kozue Morioka from TBS TV's news department happened to be in the coastal area of Iwate Prefecture on March 11.
"At 2:46 PM, after completing our coverage of the Kamaishi coast, the crew of four, including myself, encountered the earthquake on Route 45 heading towards Miyako City. The car's navigation system pointed to Yamada City and Funakoshi Bay. Not being familiar with the area, I first noticed that something was wrong with the sea when I got out of the car to ask a local who was looking at the sea
The tsunami came and the sea, which had been calm a moment ago, swallowed the entire town. Our location turned out to be 50 meters above sea level."
