2.69 2x2 Winning Average TetraCubing 2024-12-14 | 10 possibly interesting facts about this average:- this is my first 2x2 win- i thought this was my official gan 2x2 debut but i forgot that i borrowed a gan during the round where i got my first 2x2 podium back in march 2023 (thanks nathaniel)- this average happened at my 39th competition (former triple tied cali-only socal record!!!!!!! @ethanyay39 @ryansolves)- i lost a 12 comp pr streak at this comp (from comps 27-38) - this is my first time being on the podium for 3 comps in a row- i am currently ranked 69th in the US for 2x2 single at the time of writing this- both winning averages at this competition ended in .69 (19-person thursday night comp with only 3 rounds/events, the events were 2x2 5x5 and mbld but mbld does not have averages, shoutout to @AlvinLiuCubing for winning!)- the other winning average (5x5) had a best single ending with 6.28 which is my 3x3 pr single- the first solve had a corner twist caused by messing up AUF that i fixed the wrong way (DNF)- every solve had at least 1 lockupOh.

6.02 Clock PR Average (5.09 PR Single, 7th at Western Championship 2024) TetraCubing 2024-08-07 | very happy to finally have good official clock results, and getting them in westerns finals was pretty cool :D (also socal flip champion woooo very real title)this is SR12 (california) for average and even if i got BPA (5.47) it would still be SR12 which is pretty funnysolve 1 had a slight catch where i couldn't turn for like half a second which was a bit unfortunate as it cost me a sub-6 average but don't really care :Psolves 2 and 3 had good turning, both sub my previous PR single of 5.33 which was pretty unexpectedsince my goal for the comp was a sub-6.5 average i told myself to just get a sub-7.5 single on solve 4 and somehow got a 6.13, i wasn't sure whether the average was sub-6 or not but knew that it was very very close (didn't dare calculate it before solve 5 though)last solve was just a bad scramble i think, almost everyone got WPA lol. happy to not DNF it igi'll probably learn 7sf and maybe try to podium next year although not sure how possible that will be :P@PurpleClock_NJKim not quite 5 words but no super long description at least lol
2.36 2x2 PR2 Average (Western Champs 2024 Round 2) TetraCubing 2024-08-06 | this is one of my best results from the comp (probably second only to my clock double PRs with a 6.02 average and 5.09 single which placed me 7th in finals, video of that soon)on december 16, 2023, i got my first official sub 2.5 average with a 2.44 (my first comp knowing full CLL, although hilariously i only used a CLL that i had learned on my worst solve which was a 9.83). after that, on january 7, 2024, i got a 2.48 PR2 average in round 1, then a 2.27 PR average in finals (but this time i used ortega on 3 of the 5 solves and the other 2 solves were just niklas and antisune, some of the easiest CLLs). although admittedly the scrambles were stupidly easy, i was still very happy with this average and didn't expect to beat it for a long time. i expected to at least get somewhat close to 2.27 at a few of my next competitions. i was completely wrong. my best official average between this comp and the 2.27 was a 2.64, out of 8 rounds of 2x2. it felt like every other round i would start off badly, and just keep doing badly after the bad start. while setting goals for westerns, i decided to just make my goal to get a decent sub-2.7 official average (not sub-2.6, because the 2.64 was from a while ago and after the 2.27 i hadn't gotten any sub-2.7 averages other than that) to prove to myself that i could get somewhat close to my PR average after a long streak of mediocre performances.as expected, round 1 of westerns did not go well, only getting 1 sub-3 (despite comfortably averaging sub-3 at home) and a 1.92+2 and 2.02+2 on my last 2 solves, placing me 50th in round 1. i realized during the round that my warmup cube was quite slow (it was actually my main that i accidentally overlubed a week before the comp, forcing me to use my backup cube as my main) and it could have affected my turning during the official solves. for round 2 of 2x2, i decided to borrow @ethanyay39's 2x2 to warm up with, which was a relatively fast mgc elite, much faster than my overlubed warmup cube. i had time to warm up before 2x2 round 2 because i was in group 2 (stage blue we need you, even though i was on purple stage) so i was feeling pretty confident going into the round. i knew that if i did well, i would probably make finals, although i had already made finals in 3 different events before that so it wasn't my main goal going into the round, i just wanted a sub-2.7 average.the first scramble was easy and i got a 1.72 on it, my fastest solve of the year and PR3. solve 2 was a 2.74, then a 2.57 on solve 3 (couldn't onelook the 3 move layer somehow lol). surprisingly, this round was going well so far. before solve 4, i told myself "ok just get a 2.6 or faster on the next one then that's a sub-2.7 average". i was quite nervous for solve 4, but i think my confidence from starting the average well allowed me to get a clutch 2.31 single. i knew that the WPA was not only sub-2.7, but sub-2.6, which i was very happy with. i was also pretty sure i had made finals, so i just went all out on the last solve and got a solid 2.19 single which made the average 2.36, PR2 and 0.09 off PR.im very happy to finally get another good official average after nearly 7 months (and one without only super easy CLLs lol), i also got another sub 2.7 in finals (which was actually a sub 2.6/3rd place for western competitors fail, might upload that average later). this average gives me motivation to practice more and hopefully beat the 2.27 average, maybe i'll learn EG-1 or something. @TWCubed race to official sub 2 average maybe???definitely uploading more stuff from westerns soon (have 2 videos already edited so far), thanks for watching (and reading) :D
8.36 3x3 PR Average... (6.13+2 PR Fail Single, thoughts in description) TetraCubing 2024-07-16 | this was quite the rollercoaster of a round...(and a description, skip to the bottom if this is too long)my first 2 solves were 8.71 and 8.20 (i average mid to high 9, so these solves are very good for me so far). then came solve 3. the scramble looked pretty good until i realized that it was really good after getting an unexpected OLL skip. all i had to do was a Z perm + U' (which funnily enough was the exact same PLL case that i got on solve 1, down to the AUF) and i would get a new PR single. unfortunately i missed AUF, causing me to +2 a 6.13 which would have been PR single (and sub-mitch ig). although i was disappointed about the +2, an 8.13 is still a very solid time for me. i knew that any sub-9 single on one of the last 2 solves would give me PR average, although PR average wasn't even my main goal going into the 4th solve.i've been going for a pure sub-10 official 3x3 average (all 5 solves sub-10) ever since getting a worst solve of 10.33 at UCSD Spring 2023 (in April of last year, which is over 15 months ago). getting 3 8s meant that getting a pure sub-10 average was probably quite possible, which i've failed/come close to many, many times (before this round, i had 13 official averages where i got 4/5 solves sub-10 but not the 5th solve, including four sub-10s then a sub-10 +2 on the last solve, a worst solve of 10.13, and a worst solve of 10.15 with a cubedrop).then on the 4th solve, i accidentally knocked over the cube cover before starting the solve, making the solve a DNF. i was very disappointed with myself for making such a silly mistake, especially because i had made the same mistake officially 4 months ago. knowing that a pure sub-10 average was now out of the question, i decided to go for PR average instead. thankfully, i was able to achieve an 8.16 on the last solve which almost gave me BPA (literally 0.001 off BPA lol) with an 8.36 PR average. i was happy about breaking my PR by a pretty significat margin (by 0.32, down from 8.68) but was disappointed about not getting the pure sub-10 average due to a small and avoidable mistake.but i'm no longer disappointed about that anymore :)if i had gotten a sub-10 single on the 4th solve (assuming it didn't lock in PR average), i would probably be very nervous on solve 5 because i would be just one solve away from a pure sub-10 average (which, at the time, i cared about a lot more than getting PR average), and this PR might have never happened. in a way, the DNF could have been a blessing in disguise, allowing me to not worry about getitng a pure sub-10 average. also, PR average is definitely a much more useful stat than pure sub-10 average, and is what counts on your WCA profile. i definitely hope i can get a pure sub-10 average soon (hopefully at westerns), but other that that i'm still very happy with this average.i mentioned earlier that i average mid to high 9. so why was i not happy with my 8.68 former PR average? that's simply because i only started averaging mid to high 9 a bit over a month ago. i had competed in 6 official rounds from that time to before this comp, and my averages were 11.19, 9.45, 13.24, 9.73, 12.62, and 8.89. other than the 8.89 average at the end, i was getting incredibly poor results for my global, with 2 of these averages being over 3 seconds off of my best ao100 at home (9.44). even the 8.89 average was slightly disappointing because i locked up a lot on the last solve which cost me PR average. btw, obligatory reminder that i have a second channel @tetraaa_232 and i posted that average there: youtu.be/Ze58pan3_NYbasically, i just really wanted a new PR average to reflect my improvement in global average. i didn't expect a sub-8.5 average to come so soon, but i am definitely happy to have gotten an 8.36 official average, which i don't expect to beat for a long time. now all i need is that pure sub-10 official average, then i'll be truly satisfied with my official 3x3 results (don't really care about the PR single fail tbh, my current PR single of 6.28 is still very good for me and this would have only dropped it by 0.15, actually obviously i do care bc it cost me sub-mitch but whatever)thanks for reading this incredibly long description (4699/5000 characters lol)also sorry about the poor video quality on some of the solves, i prioritized visibility of the cube over video quality@bluecuber can't wait for you to beat this soon :PWTL;DHTTR (way too long, didn't have time to read): very happy with the average, not too mad about the 6.13+2 PR single fail, not mad at all about the DNF because it probably made me much less nervous for the last solve, no pure sub-10 average yet but hopefully i get that soon

TetraCubing 2024-06-20 | uhh yeah so this happened, fair and equal conditions go brr /jhopefully i get pure sub-3 this weekend, this comp had 3 rounds and i did bad in all of them except for this one but i have 3 rounds this weekend as well so yeahlol probably skill issue tbh but title bait is funni
5.33 Clock PR Single (read description) TetraCubing 2024-06-18 | very happy with this, my only goal for clock at this comp was to break my former 5.71 PR single.the average actually started off really badly (8.3, 9.0, 8.9) bc i average mid to high 6, then i DNFed a 7. at first i thought of super safetying to get into finals but i saw that the scramble was good, i still safetied a bit though (paused before flipping and paused before stopping the timer).getting this was just super unexpected considering how bad my previous solves were and im very happy with this solve overall.i have 2 more clock rounds this weekend, after that im probably learning 7 simul flip and seeing how good i can get with it.
