Black and Abroad: A Discussion on Travel as a Woman of Color Merze Tate Explorers 2024-07-18 | The Merze Tate Explorers hosted a Black and Abroad art exhibition in partnership with the Black Arts and Cultural Center in Kalamazoo, MI. The exhibition featured the art of Explorers by artist E'lla Webber and images from women of color's world travels. The exhibit was kicked off during Art Hop in Kalamazoo, where dozens of art and travel lovers came out to meet women travelers who served on a panel. This event allowed the Explorers to highlight the organization's history, its namesake, Merze Tate, and the world travels of women who follow in the world-traveling footsteps of Dr. Merze Tate.

Merze Tate Explorer Wins True Colors State Monologue Competition Merze Tate Explorers 2022-04-13 | The Merze Tate Explorers (merzetate.org) partnered with Michigan State University's Wharton Theatre for the Inaugural True Colors Next Narrative Monologue Competition. Explorer Aija Hodges, was one of two Michigan state finalists who will go on to compete in New York for the national title in May, 2022. The national monologue competition allowed students of color to compete using monologues created by Next Narrative playwrights. Students from across the country will compete for cash prizes and a chance to perform at the Apollo Theatre. The Merze Tate Explorers had nearly a dozen youth in grades 3rd-12th learn monologues as a new form of using their voice through media.
