In this video, I give you a tour of my tiny studio apartment in downtown Manhattan! I live in East Village in a 250 square foot studio. My rent was originally $2000 per month, but was recently reduced to $1800 per month, which is about the current market rate for a studio apartment in NYC. I told myself I’d chill out on the decor this time, so I was originally planning on keeping the place pretty minimalist and not recording an apartment makeover. But as they say.. you can lead an Ashley to an apartment, but you can’t make her resist her impulse to wallpaper every single surface. So anyways, here’s my apartment tour, complete with a small jungle worth of house plants, an abundance of vintage gold mirrors, my trusty pink armchair, and some questionable NYC storage solutions. I’m not quite sure how to describe my decor aesthetic - it’s somewhere between grandma chic, tumblr chic, and i-own-way-too-much-stuff-so-i-hid-everything-in-ikea-boxes chic. Come thrifting with me in NYC! In this video, I give you a tour of my favorite thrift stores in Manhattan and Brooklyn, try on all the thrifted dresses, jackets, sweaters, jeans, and t-shirts I’ve accumulated over the past couple months, and demonstrate my hidden talent of stuffing a truly obscene amount of fabric into my pants. Welcome to the island of toasty, where I’ve spent over 120 hours chopping trees, catching bees, and running away from my Animal Crossing villagers. Now that I think about it…… that’s 3 full work weeks. HOW DID I SPEND SO MUCH TIME IN THIS GAME??? And I still don't have a five star island??? Also in case you’re curious, I generally don’t time travel in the game - sometimes I shift it a couple hours so I can play late at night irl and still sell stuff at Nook’s Cranny. After many years of thrift flipping, and even more years of watching Project Runway, I finally decided to face my fear of rolled hems and invisible zippers, and try to sew clothing from scratch. I bought some vintage dress patterns from the 1950’s, and with the help of my trusty sewing machine, the DIY moms of youtube, and way too much caffeine, I managed to sew a brand new summer dress from scratch. And it looks pretty darn good, as long as you stay more than six feet away.

After spending an entire year making over my LA apartment, I had to tear my baby to shreds and reset my apartment to its original state in the last few days before I moved to NYC. After running through about 15 different planners in my years of high school and college, I finally decided to try out bullet journalling. Bullet journalling is essentially a method of creating your own custom planner a dotted notebook. Follow me on my journey of transforming my boyfriend's Los Angeles college bedroom from a sad moldy patchwork of 15 different paint jobs to an ~aesthetic~ vintage/urban outfitters inspired/industrial chic, cozy bedroom.
