Jacob Wohl denies “kidnapping” former White House staffer Merritt Corrigan
updated
This firebombing comes after a 2020 shooting attack against the same facility.
On Monday evening, a coalition of pro-Cuba activists gathered outside the embassy to condemn not only the firebombing itself, but the United States vilification of Cuba, particularly its inclusion on the "State Sponsors of Terror" list.
"Biden, get back, get your boot off Cuba's neck!" they chanted.
"What the US government has been doing is violence, violence, violence," said Medea Benjamin of CODEPINK.
"It's not just molotov cocktails or AK-47s [weapons used against the Cuban Embassy in DC] that kills people, it is sanctions. It is this brutal blockade."
Brian Becker of the ANSWER Coalition called out the media for minimal coverage of the attack on the Cuban Embassy.
He then ties this to the Venezuelan Embassy in DC in 2019, where Trump handed control of the building to opposition forces opposing Maduro.
Jacqueline Luqman with Black Alliance for Peace questioned how Cuba is labelled a "state sponsor of terror" while they broker peace deals in Colombia and provide doctors internationally during disasters.
Sean Blackmon of Party for Socialism and Liberation also compared the records of the United States and Cuba, asking which nation should be labelled a "State Sponsor of Terror."
"Was it Cuba that invaded Iraq in 2003 killing a million Iraqis?"
Gloria LaRiva, who was the Party for Socialism and Liberation 's nominee for president in 2020, also spoke and tied terror attacks against the embassy to America's foreign policy toward Cuba since their revolution.
"Could you imagine if the Cuban people had thrown molotov cocktails at Guantanamo Bay?" asked Bennett Shoop of the DC Young Communist League. "Could you imagine what the US government would have done?"
"And yet here we are with another terrorist attack on the Cuban Embassy, and the US government remains silent."
He says that he met the president of Cuba this past week, who he describes as respecting the American people.

"Please stop [Canadian oil company with pipelines in the United States] Enbridge!" said Erica Jones of the Crow Creek Sioux Tribe. "We want no more drilling!"
Jill Ferguson aka “Badass Grandma” held a sign accusing Biden of being "Canada 1st" over his support of the Line 5 pipeline, which travels through the United States but doesn't actually provide Americans oil.
"So we need to ask both Joe and Jill, why are they taking a Canada first stance?" by expanding the pipeline.
Dr. Paul Zeitz, who has been arrested twice in this activism and was held overnight on Wednesday, described abhorrent conditions in the DC Jail: "The cell was filled with cockroaches."
He calls the DC jail's use for any human shameful.
It was actually right as Dr. Paul Zeitz was talking about the conditions in the DC Jail that Secret Service and Parks Police swiftly shut down the street, pushed everybody away, and arrested activists Erica Jones and Cheryl Barnds.
Indigenous activist Nathan Phillips drummed from the park as Erica Jones and Cheryl Barnds were detained in handcuffs.
Police removed the headdress and outerwear from Erica Jones, an indigenous activist who wore traditional clothing to the demonstration.
"No more oil!" yelled Jones.
"President Biden, keep your promises to stop supporting fossil fuels and what you called existential threat to humanity," shouted Barnds.
Police continued to physically search Indigenous activist Erica Jones, which clearly caused her enormous discomfort to the point of being unable to stand.
This is cut down from over an hour during which this situation unfolded, but Parks Police continued to detain her and called for an ambulance.
Activists from the park sang, drummed, and shouted their support for Jones throughout the ordeal.
They begged police to simply give her a citation and let her free, which they did not do. Citations, rather than arrest, had been used for the same type of demonstration last week.
(Editor's note: I have blurred the moment that was apparently triggering, although I will provide raw copies to her attorney etc if necessary).
Once the detained activist was already loaded into an ambulance, US Park Police could be seen bringing leg irons to an officer who was inside the ambulance.
At least one officer remained inside the ambulance as it left for the hospital.
News2Share spoke to several of Erica's friends after she was taken away.
Nathan Phillips called it "unnecessary" how the police treated her by removing her regalia.
"When they take those feathers off and treat them with disrespect, it just went downhill from there."
Before the events today, which would be the last in this series of demonstrations, the climate activists stood in a circle and held smudging of white sage for each participant (and two dogs).
"It's just been an amazing journey," one said.

The delegation included five different political parties as well as Assange's brother Gabriel Shipton.
Senator Peter Whish-Wilson (Green Party) spoke first, describing that "Australia and the US are the closest of friends and the closest of allies, and of course that kind of relationship should be built on mutual trust and mutual respect."
"It was a good start that we had a meeting today with the Department of Justice as a cross-party Australian delegation."
Australian MP Tony Zappia (Labor Party) invoked the Statue of Liberty and explained that "Julian Assange, an Australian citizen, has been effectively deprived of his liberty for the last 11 years."
"We're here to speak to the US government and to make it clear that the people of Australia believe that Julian Assange has been punished enough, that his detention should come to an end, that the charges against him should be dropped."
Australian MP Barnaby Joyce (National Party) said that "We did not come here to pick a fight, we came here to present a case and lobby for an outcome" of freeing Julian Assange.
"After 11 years, enough is enough," he says.
Australian Senator David Shoebridge (Green Party) called the ongoing detention of Julian Assange "an ongoing irritant in the bilateral relationship" between the United States and Australia, noting that nearly 90% of Australians want him returned home.
Australian Senator Alex Antic (Liberal Party) emphasized that the delegation supporting Julian Assange is "the most broad political alliance" and that 67 members of Parliament signed a letter demanding the release of Julian Assange.
Senator Peter Whish-Wilson returned to add that "The extradition of Julian Assange as a foreign journalist conducting activities on foreign soil is unprecedented."
"This is a very dangerous precedent, a very slippery slope for any democracy to go down."
"Sometimes it is very hard to be a friend of the United States when the United States is prosecuting an Australian citizen for basically being a journalist" said Australian Senator David Shoebridge.
"We all came here in the spirit of friendship," he explained. "We didn't come here to pick a fight. We came here to solve a problem. And that can only be solved by Julian Assange coming home."

They held signs reading "Woman = Adult Human Female" and "Lesbian = Female Homosexual."
When the TERF rally wrapped up, they packed up their event and loaded up into a rental van.

This comes after four similar protests last week, and 100+ arrested in NYC on Monday.
"I'm here because we need President Biden to declare a climate emergency for the future of our planet," said one of the arrestees before being taken away. "We need to act now!"
"I'm here to fight for all the people who they say are nobody, but they're real people who are dying because of fossil fuels!" said another. "We cannot let our loved ones die any longer!"
The protest began with activists hanging a banner on the White House fence, which an officer warned them against.
"I'm doing this because I've seen so many people who I love treated as if they don't matter," one participant told News2Share as ve participated in hanging the banner. "And so, we want to speak to President Biden to act with urgency, declare a climate emergency!"
The group then broke into chants of "act with urgency, declare a climate emergency!"
"We're basically gonna have a couple officers come up, we're gonna have supervision come up, we're gonna give a couple warnings to clear out. If they don't they're coming with us," a Parks Police officer said as the protest was ongoing, before the arrests.

"We need clean air, not another billionaire!" they chanted while refusing to leave. "Tax the motherf***ing rich!"
They demand the Fed stop supporting banks invested in fossil fuels.
"Arrest the real criminals!" they chanted as arrests began. "Arrest the climate criminals!"
"No oil, no gas!" the activists chanted as they were arrested by NYPD's "Disorder Control Unit" and "Strategic Response Group" outside the New York Federal Reserve.
"Fossil fuels can kiss my a**!"
"If you arrest one of us, a hundred more will come!" chanted the climate activists as NYPD zip-tie handcuffed and took away the last of them outside the New York Federal Reserve.
114 were reportedly arrested.
"End fossil finance, Fed, end fossil finance!" chanted a couple of the activists who had just been arrested outside the Fed before being led into a police vehicle.
"This is an emergency," one explained, before describing a "one for one" policy they'd like where for every dollar invested in fossil fuel infrastructure, one dollar is set aside for future bailouts when "society has crumbled because of fossil fuels."
An Indigenous activist drummed in support of them.

Bukovinac made headlines last year when her and other activists in their group "Progressive Anti-Abortion Uprising" obtained medical waste boxes from the facility and reportedly unboxed 115 aborted fetuses, which were recovered from their shared home.
Lauren Handy, along with several other members of their coalition, were arrested shortly thereafter and charged with violating the FACE Act for a blockade they had committed inside the clinic the year prior.
Bukovinac referenced the fetuses in her announcement Thursday, even having one supporter hold a sign with a photo of one of them.
While no organized counter-protest took place, several hecklers passing by and gathering around the announcement shouted over Bukovinac.
Bukovinac noted that the candidacy is not meant to be won, but that she would seek ballot access in several states and attempt to pave a path for anti-abortion Democrats to run winning campaigns in the future.

"Joe Biden has a moral obligation to end fossil fuels and to take climate action seriously," said Reverend Redeem Robinson as he was arrested.
Also arrested were Doug Hughes (his first after landing a gyrocopter on the National Mall in 2015 to protest money in politics) and Jill Ferguson aka “Badass Grandma” (notably arrested protesting the Line 3 Pipeline).
Kai Newkirk said the group plans to return several times over the next week, and also encourages participation in the upcoming march to end fossil fuels in New York City this weekend.
The situation began when climate activists first zip-tied a banner reading "President Biden: Declare a climate emergency, End Fossil Fuels" to the White House fence.
Secret Service officers promptly cut it down and warned the activists not to do it again, or be arrested.
"Are you gonna hang it back on the fence? If you're gonna hang it back on the fence, we're gonna take it. If you're not, then you can have it. It's a f***ing yes or no question," said an officer after confiscating the banner when the activists hung it again.
"Act with urgency! Declare a climate emergency!" the climate activists chanted. Police took the banner away.
It was after the first banner was confiscated that Jill Ferguson aka “Badass Grandma” unfurled a banner showing her arrested protesting the Line 3 Pipeline.
She called on Jill Biden to take action on climate change, referencing the future faced by both their grandchildren.
"This is a climate emergency, we all know it!" she said.
It was them hanging this banner moments later that led to the arrests.

Dallas Goldtooth, star of TV series Reservation Dogs, said that "We're risking arrest to elevate the narrative that Leonard Peltier - who's been locked up behind bars for 49 years - deserves to be free."
"His trial - if it happened today - he would be found not guilty."
As Indigenous Activists held the sidewalk in front of the White House, an enormous force of responding Secret Service and Parks Police shut down the street, pushing back the rest of the crowd.
Press were put into a designated area surrounded by police tape.
Officers then used a Long-range acoustic device (LRAD) to issue arrest warnings to the Leonard Peltier supporters. The activists remained in place, singing and drumming and holding signs reading "Rise up for Peltier."
After three warnings, police began arresting the activists remaining in place on the White House sidewalk. They were escorted away without being handcuffed, and all complied.
"Free Peltier" chanted supporters from behind the newly erected barricades as the last of those on the White House sidewalk were arrested.
In total, 35 including Dallas Goldtooth were arrested.
Chauncey Peltier, son of Leonard Peltier, described that "my father has been wrongly incarcerated 48 years of my life... one of the biggest rights violation cases in history and one of the longest held political prisoners in the United States."
"Everyone's asking President Biden to please release Leonard Peltier. We're asking for clemency for Leonard Peltier."
He says in a previous parole board opportunity, one board member who supported parole was removed before the decision could be made.
"Please, call the White House, do what you can to support freedom for Leonard Peltier."
Ahead of the civil disobedience, speakers in front of the White House made their demand clear: "We're also here with purpose, to call out the President of the United States! The only person on the face of this planet that has the sole decision. It is a choice he has to make to release Leonard!" one explained.
"Release Leonard!" the crowd chanted.
Leonard Peltier's lawyer, Kevin Sharp (a former federal judge) says that he swore an oath to the constitution in the military, as a lawyer, and as a judge. He says he was shocked by "the level of constitutional violations" in Peltier's 1977 conviction.
Paul O'Brien, Executive Director at Amnesty International USA, said that "You know we have history on our side" for Leonard Peltier. "You have a quarter of a million Amnesty members on your side and we're not gonna let this go!"
Holly Cook Macarro says she spoke with Leonard Peltier yesterday and he remains hopeful and in good spirits.
She read a statement by Peltier himself: "I've seen a reawakening of an ancient native pride that does my heart good. I may leave this place in a box. That is a cold truth. But I put my heart and soul into making our world a better place, and there is a lot of work left to do."
"I would like to get out and join you in doing it."

One speaker told the crowd that they need to go out and do this every day, or else it wouldn't have an impact.
While the police didn't enforce the order, it includes a $5000 fine for violators.
One apparent anti-gun protester was yelled at, but then invited by the speaker to say his piece on the stage. The crowd yelled at him for wearing a mask and applauded him when he took it off.
He expressed concern about gun violence in schools, which the speaker and crowd retorted by suggesting that arming veterans and well-trained teachers at schools would be a deterrent against active shooters.

Today the avowed Nazi "Blood Tribe" and "Goyim Defense League" marched in Orlando, chanting "Jews will not replace us" and "Jews get the rope."
"All heil the Führer," one would call, and the crowd would respond "Heil Hitler!"
As the Nazis rallied in Orlando, pro-Trump personality Laura Loomer showed up and was immediately yelled at by the group, who called her "Laura Jewmer" and "tranny Jew."
"We're not voting Trump, Laura!" they said before sarcastically joking that they prefer DeSantis.
Kent "Boneface" McLellan, a Neo-Nazi who has reportedly traveled to Ukraine to serve with the Azov Battalion, threw stiff-arm salutes and told me "I am Boneface."
"Slava Ukraini!" he yelled.
I asked Blood Tribe leader Christopher "Hammer" Pohlhaus (based in Maine and with chapters in Ohio and Wisconsin) why he held this larger event in Florida.
"Why you ask stupid questions?" he said. "This is just the beginning."
"Heil Hitler," his group chanted in an empty parking lot.
"Who won't replace us?" they chanted. "Jews won't replace us!"
"We are everywhere!"
As the group finished rallying in the parking lot, Christopher "Hammer" Pohlhaus instructed his group to "Follow the meatball!"
The group then marched into a residential area, where they yelled "white power" and "f*** you" at media.
While the Nazi coalition was marching through residential Orlando, freelance journalist David Decker asked them if they're from Florida.
"F**k you," they said. "We don't answer questions from K*** media. F****ts!"
"All F****ts, we will destroy you."
Jon Eugene Minadeo II, aka "Handsome Truth" told media to stop following the group as they marched presumably to their vehicles. "Don't make us ask more than once."
Another said "Ford knows better," apparently referencing a member of their group who told me to back off during a similar moment at their Wisconsin rally and subsequently chambered a round into a rifle.
He then faced away from me and held up the middle finger, just as the man had in that previous incident.
One referenced by reporting on that incident and the other said, "Took you all that time to figure it out, f****t?"

Ahead of a separate Nazi rally in Orlando on Saturday, another avowed Nazi group with about ten people calling themselves "Order of the Black Sun" rallied in front of Disney World's entrance, where they ripped up a rainbow pride flag.
The Nazis outside Disney world waved a Ron DeSantis flag and called themselves "Ron's Holocaust task force."
"We're his biggest supporters," they claimed before saying that his support for legislation combatting anti-semitism is "smoke and mirrors."
(It would not be unusual for Neo-Nazis to say something like this to damage a candidate they disfavor.)
Asked by another reporter about former President Donald Trump, one of the "Order of the Black Sun" Nazis said that "he's a p***y, he didn't do any of the things he said he was going to do" before condemning him for having Jewish people in his family.
News2Share contributor David Decker asked the "Order of the Black Sun" Nazis how they felt about the larger Nazi rally that would take place without them later that afternoon.
They say there's "Really not a riff" in the "white power movement" and claim to be fine with the others.

News2Share filmed Philip Anderson, who has just been arrested by the FBI on felony charges for January 6, speak on October 10, 2021 at an event in Texas where he told his J6 story.
He describes the death of Roseanne Boyland and subsequent pushing match with police.
Philip Anderson told the group at the time that the FBI had put him on a no-fly list and were already attempting to get information about his January 6 activity from his friends. Now, nearly two years later on August 29, 2023, he was arrested by the FBI.
Describing grievances related to the prosecution of January 6 defendants and more, Anderson said "I'm not scared of fighting it, and I'm talking about a literal fight, because I refuse to live like this any longer."
"I'd rather die than live like this, because you are persecuting us, and it must stop," he said.
"January 6 happened because you kept pushing us because we can't trust you. You broke the trust. That's why there is no democracy, because you broke the trust."

On Saturday, the annual "Straight Pride Parade" took place outside a Planned Parenthood in Modesto, California.
Only about a dozen showed up (counter-protested by a handful playing rock music across the street) including avowed neo-Nazis with an anti-Semitic cutout and a Hitler T-Shirt. The Nazis identified with "Goyim Defense League" which is promoting a white nationalist rally in Florida in September as well.
"Your nose looks very Jewish" the Nazis told a woman questioning them before throwing stiff-arm salutes and saying "Heil Hitler."
Straight Pride organizer Don Grundmann (in red and black) yelled at the counter-protesters that "20 million killed - they target the Black community" referring to abortion.
"You're white supremacists," he said to the counter-protesters. "You're the Klan of Modesto!"
For sake of clarity: this was not directed at the man wearing a Hitler T-shirt on his side of the street.
As News2Share's freelancer interviewed a different participant, over his shoulder, a driver can be seen throwing a drink at Straight Pride organizer Don Grundmann.
"You're under arrest right now!" yelled Grundmann at the driver, who drove away.
"Oh just a friendly guy who appreciates what we're saying," he described sarcastically afterwards.
While the counter-protesters largely stayed separate from the "Straight Pride Parade" in Modesto, one apparently unaffiliated individual attempted to argue with the group.
While violence did not break out this year, in previous years there has been serious clashing between the right wing side including Proud Boys (who did not show up this year) and counter-protesters.

When police arrived, they recognized one of the climate activists blocking the road as having been arrested in a similar act on Wednesday.
"You're under arrest for contempt of court!" an officer declared. Drivers clapped and cheered as he was handcuffed.
Police typically give three warnings before arresting road-blockers in DC, but this time, they gave one: "You're not getting three warnings!"
As some began leaving the road, MPD's Jason Bagshaw said "everyone's under arrest" and had all of them cuffed.
"Y'all know you haven't done the proper warnings?" said one of the climate activists in handcuffs, having expected three warnings and a chance to avoid arrest.
"We don't have to," an officer told her before all of them, including their police liaison, were taken away.

The group cited the arrest of Proud Boy Enrique Tarrio for the burning of a BLM banner that was taken from a church as why they didn't ultimately light the flag on fire.
