You nominated the rollerbladers for skater of the year, section of the year and trick of the year - Being a finalist in these categories qualified the skaters to be invited for the Community Cup. The skater who took part were:Julien CudotNils JansonsSeba SeufferheldBobi SpassovLevi Van RijnThey produce some of the best skating we've seen all year and within this, I think we could have an edit of the year, a trick of the year and I have no doubt it will have an impact on SOTY.You also supported the prize fund which reached around $10,000, an enormous figure for rollerblading. Massive thank you to those who supported. Although it was only a small percentage of my followers, of the people that watched the videos and of those who voted, it was enough to raise a significant amount to make this one of the most rewarding competitions in rollerblading, that puts the skaters and filmers first. The industry is small and you often hear people say, "skaters don't get paid enough" but we've made that happen while creating an event that incentivises street skating videos - The core of rollerblading. If we work together as a community we can make so much more happen. 50% of the fund will be split equally between the skaters as a base rate for taking part, which is around $1000 each. So they're getting paid for their efforts, which I think is a first for a rollerblading competition.The other 50% will be awarded to the Community Winners 1st, 2nd, 3rd, voted for by you and the Expert Winner, selected by a panel.The expert Judges were:Eugen Enin, Blake Bird, Karsten Boysen, Ryan Park and Cameron Talbott. All well respected names in the industry that have a wealth of experience and knowledge from skating, filming and judging competitions.This was the Expert Judging Guide:Difficulty. Difficulty can be applied to a stunt, line or a single technical trick. Clips will also be judged on the overall situation including; size, run-up, landing, weather, traffic, etc.Style. Competitors will be judged on style, confidence, control & speed.Creativity. This can be applied to switch-ups, clever use of spots, new ideas etc.Spot selection. Submissions will be judged on the variety, type, difficulty and visual appearance of obstacles.Production value. Production value includes the filming, audio, music, lighting and editing of the video.Character. Character combines all of the above elements and evaluates the submission on overall entertainment.It’s not necessarily a tick list but elements to consider when watching the skaters. If a skater's edit is purely big stunts and no creativity, they can still win if the stunts are so exceptional they overshadow the lack of creativity - and vice versa.
