Precipice is not a track i expected to hear coming from minecraft; a zts-esque 2000s j-trance-esque track being made for a jukebox disc? absolutely wild stuff, but nonetheless Aaron Cherof knocked it out of the park and made possibly one of my all time favourite VGM tracks ever. I wanted to make a remix of it that put it closer to that 'J-Trance' vibe that I had initially picked up on, with most of my inspiration coming from zts' lastendconductor. for the first time since buying it, I also played electric guitar for the main lead parts on this remix! one of the things I've always wanted to play around more with is pushing for more live instruments in genres like techno, trance, house, etc., and this remix is sort of like my second take on making "guitar trance" (the first of which being the track I produced for AD:TRANCE 9, "Tempest")

I composed an original orchestral theme inspired by Witch Hat Atelier to celebrate the upcoming anime! This is my absolute favourite manga series of all time, and one that I truly believe is a work of art through and through - I wanted to put my love for the characters and the world that Kamome Shirahama created into a piece of music and create a sort of "main theme" for an alternate version of the anime.
I first started working on this personal project of mine around half a year ago--back when the original anime announcement was made public, but from a combiunation of a busy work schedule (and a lot of burnout), it took me quite a bit to get it finished to a point where I was truly happy with it. Before long, they announced that Yuka Kitamura (notable for her work on Elden Ring) was chosen as to compose for the adaptation, bringing along a very medieval-gothic-folk sound to the series, something that I think is perfect (but definitely not what I was expecting to hear from the first trailer)
As an orchestrator, I still consider myself to be much of an amateur, but I found a lot of my inspirations in the works of Joe Hisaishi, Takatsugu Muramatsu, Evan Call, and Michiru Oshima. In fact, I initially predicted that they would pick Oshima as the composer for the adaptation as I felt her being a woman composer and a briliant one at that would make her perfect for the themes and the overall vibe of the series. So in essence, I feel like my own style is reminiscent of little bits and pieces from each of these people embedded into something. Perhaps it's a bit awkward, but I'm very happy with my work here, and I hope to be able to write more orchestral works in the near future.

In late 2023, I had the pleasure and the privilege of putting together an 8-minute long orchestral suite featuring music from MOBILE SUIT GUNDAM UNICORN, to be performed by the Berklee Motion Picture Orchestra, the largest student-lead ensemble on campus, entirely dedicated to performing film music. I wanted to pay tribute to one of my favourite and most influential composers to me, Hiroyuki Sawano, by arranging a suite from one of his career-defining soundtracks.
Truth be told, I did not expect my arrangement to be selected to be part of their program at first; I felt like an amateur, as someone not from a classical or orchestral scoring background putting together a full symphonic orchestration for the very first time. There's a lot of mistakes, a lot of fairly shoddy part-writing and questionable orchestration decisions
but after months of hard work, I'm delighted to present this suite for you all, as it was heard during its premiere concert!
The medley is an arrangement of four tracks from the soundtrack:
"ZERO GRAVITY" 0:00
"U.C.0096" 0:34
"ON YOUR MARK" 2:40
"UNICORN" 5:20
For the most part, they're (somewhat) accurate transcriptions of the original pieces (which was a challenge since no published material exists - everything had to be done by ear!), with a few adaptations and creative liberties taken for certain parts. ON YOUR MARK in particular deviates from the original quite a bit, as I wanted to flex my arranging chops a bit more, so you can hear a little woodwind chorale in the A section, as well as a violin solo partway through that grows into a quartet before finally blossoming into a full orchestral swell.
The Audire Soundtrack Collective Choir, a group that I had the pleasure of being a part of this past semester, joins in for UNICORN in order to sing the iconic melody, and hearing everything come together in that magnificent crescendo was a genuinely life-changing experience for me, especially with that hall's acoustics. A lot of love, sweat, and tears went into putting together this arrangement, and I am so thankful to have been given this opportunity. I sincerely hope you enjoy.
originally composed by doriko
arranged / produced / tuned by dante
A few years ago I was commissioned to create and arrange the instrumental to doriko's popular VOCALOID song, "Romeo and Cinderella", so that the client could use it as a cover instrumental.
...I don't know if that cover ever did end up coming out, however, so I decided to use that instrumental as the basis of this cover, featuring Teto's amazing new SynthV AI voicebank. I'm still not entirely used to SV's workflow so the tuning is a bit basic, but I had a blast putting this together!. The intro is deliberately slowed down and given a bit more of an orchestral touch, and a much larger focus was given to the piano (check out the solo at 3:10!)
Sorry for the shoddily put-together video/thumbnail (miku is still on it despite it not even being her song anymore LOL), I just wanted an excuse to post this project onto my channel!

HOYO-MiX is more than just Yu-Peng Chen. The music team has shown me time and time again that they're capable of writing some absolutely stunning music, and as a Honkai series fan, I wanted to arrange some of my favourite music from this relatively new game. Some of my best arranging chops went into this medley, and it would not have sounded nearly as good without my great friend and long-time collaborator @wolfman1405 to really give it that extra bit of life.

"Through Waves and Wind"
composed & arranged by Dante Gofar
additional strings by the Berklee Scoring Sessions Program
Part 1 ~ "Waves of Dreams" - 0:06
Part 2 ~ "Winds of Dreams" - 1:42
As part of my game scoring class this semester, I decided to finally put it upon myself to compose a piece primarily for symphony orchestra, something totally outside of the scope of the original assignment, but one I wanted to do anyway!
The original assignment involved composing music that would be able to easily transition between two states, thus the two main parts of the piece; the first intended for general exploration, and the second intended for when you get into battle. listen to the way the main theme is interpreted in both! this is easily one of the works I'm proudest of, as someone who basically never writes in this style, so I hope you enjoy. You can hear the Joe Hisaishi influence everywhere throughout this particular piece, hahaha, though the battle version has a bit of Masashi Hamauzu sprinkled throughout it!
VERY special thanks to the Berklee Scoring Session Program players for providing some LIVE strings to this piece! I unfortunately never got the individual players' names, but it's an absolute wonder to have some of my music performed by an ensemble of players!

✨STREAMING✨
coming soon!
5 years ago, in late 2017, I released my very first album as a music producer, and what marked the beginning of my "SoundCirclet" project, "SYSTEM".
In those 5 years, my skills as a composer and producer have greatly improved, and I've become more and more comfortable with my musical style. I wanted to take 5 of my favourite tracks from the original album and remix & rearrange them to better represent the skillset that I now have.
None of these remixes are meant to be 'remakes', or 'definitive versions' of the original tracks in any way, but rather just a personal tribute to the original album.
Happy 5th anniversary to "SYSTEM"!

Composed by Hayata Takeda
Arranged by dante
Long time no see! I've been playing a lot of SCARLET NEXUS lately, and I'm in love with the game as well as its music! It's got one of the most unique soundtracks I've heard of late, primarily making use of electronic music styles and cool synthesis and production techniques. The composer, Hayata Takeda, is quite a new face in the industry, only notably having worked on World of Final Fantasy as part of the sound team at TOSE.
I thought I would take some time in between projects to work on an arrangement of one of my favourite tracks in the soundtrack. This track plays in Seiran City, one of the two major cities in the game, and is underscored by this wonderful track that plays heavily on pentatonic scales and parallel fourths to invoke that very eastern sound.
In this arrangement, I had wanted to play really heavily on a more energetic take on the track that made a heavier emphasis on the bustling urban life, so I opted to have a kind of duality between the first half, with a more hip-hop inspired sound, followed by a very funk-rock inspired latter half. I used this also as a means of practicing my MIDI sequencing techniques in creating realistic guitar and bass phrases, especially with the slap lines. In order to add on to the eastern musical elements, I also arranged parts for shamisen, koto, and hichiriki to kind of give it this "old town in a new era" vibe, where traditional elements and modern elements mesh together in synergy.
A big addition I wanted to bring was incorporating more improvisatory/solo elements to add on to the original track's synth solo and to sort of extend out the runtime a bit. I redid the synth solo with a bit of my own playing, and then added sections for the bass and shamisen to go a bit nuts. I definitely wanted to make it feel like there was a real jam going on even with all of it being manually sequenced by hand.

In-game footage was all recorded without music, with BGM laid-over in post. This video was simply meant to demonstrate how my music would sound in an in-game context.
A few months ago, I released an original concept EP called "Inazuma Sketches", which consisted of original compositions written prior to the release of Genshin Impact version 2.0, using only the revealed concept art from the version 1.6 livestream as inspiration. I had uploaded 3 of these pieces onto this channel, but decided to hold off on the rest until the project was complete.
Instead of uploading the whole EP as a single, audio-only video, I thought it might be a bit more interesting to put together a "demonstration" video so that you could see how well all of these pieces actually ended up fitting to the final areas! I'd love to hear your feedback in the comments.

I arranged "The Woodlands" from Octopath Traveler as part of a new arrangement album called "Echoes of Eight" organized by my friends over at the PixelMixers! Please check it out here!
youtube.com/watch?v=5QxOOCxiOTk
The Woodlands is one of my favourite tracks from the game's already phenomenal soundtrack, so when the opportunity came to pick a track, I already had a few ideas floating around on how to handle it. I knew I wanted to keep it primarily acoustic to retain that folky, 'woody' nature of the track, but re-envision it in a way that gives it a lot more energy. By the way, I hid 3 different 'forest' related quotes throughout the arrangement, see if you can find them all!
The term "Folk-fusion" is a little sub-genre I came up with to describe a lot of music using jazz and fusion inspired arrangement techniques, but using a primarily acoustic or organic set of instrumentation. A lot of my favourite music by groups like Iona and canoue, are what I'd consider to fall under this term, and it's one that has long defined a lot of how I arrange for band instruments.
Joining me for this arrangement are a combination of my friends from both college and from the greater VGM community! My good friend and school-mate Megan was kind enough to record lead vocal, making this the first time I've incorporated voice as a lead instrument in one of these arrangements! Many of my new VGM friends, all of whom are involved with the Pixel Mixers themselves, offered their talents for the rest of the instruments, including a beautiful solo cello performance by Chromatic Apparatus, and killer bass and guitar playing by both AndyRu and Rik respectively!

When considering the direction I wanted to take with underscoring the area of Tatarasuna--a war-torn mountain range surrounding Mikage Furnace, I had tried to think of ways in which I could capture the overall tranquility of the artwork while still retaining a bit of that air of mystery. I felt a duality between both koto and soft piano would've acted as a really interesting texture, especially with the way their lines intertwine--sort of like two simultaneous ostinatos working in tandem with one another. I had been listening to a lot of music by the contemporary classical composer Takashi Yoshimatsu, whose music is defined by beautiful impressionist language combined with a very emotive melodic sense, and I felt a bit inspired by a lot of his works to pursue a similar sort of sound here.
I also knew that I wanted to finally find a way of incorporating the Shakuhachi into this piece; one of Japan's most iconic traditional instruments, with a beautiful airy timbre unlike most other woodwinds. The shakuhachi shows up within the second half of the piece and helps segue into the latter section of the piece. Where the koto and the piano in my mind represented the leaves and the petals of the trees, the shakuhachi comes in like a gust of wind that picks up and in its breeze allows them to drift and dance in the air, in a short little traditional-inspired waltz.
Typical BGM cues in Genshin Impact don't really loop, and they tend to be less than 1:30 due to the nature of the games day-night system, so it might feel like the track picks up and ends a lot sooner than it might naturally feel like it should. I did not want to break the conventions that I set out for myself in this project in the first place, so abrupt endings such as these tend to be quite common even with the game's soundtrack.

Yashiori Island is one of the main regions that were showcased in that teaser from the end of that livestream they did a while back. The previous composition in this series, "Serpent's Lament", is based off another piece of concept art that depicts the inner landmass of the island itself, while this depicts what seems to be the coastal region.
The bulk of this piece consists of an improvised Koto solo, based around the Han-Iwato traditional scale, and I had found inspiration from various pieces performed by Aiko Hasegawa. While not as extensive as I would've hoped, I had done a quick deep dive into the world of solo Koto performances, in hopes of studying a bit on the way solo Koto pieces tend to be written. I notice that they tend to utilize its range of pitches as well as its various unique articulations in order to 'paint' images and moods, using sound to imitate nature.
In this piece, I wanted a continuous droning motif to represent the rhythm of waves hitting the shoreline. The empty space in between each 'wave' is just as important--as it helps paint a mood of somber emptiness, yet with a touch of solace. The wonder of traditional Koto scales is that they are often built from a series of tetrachords, which allow for a very modal sound that can not be succinctly classified into 'brightness' and 'darkness' that we'd often associate with western harmony--and it's precisely this ambiguity that I believe makes this such a unique and beautiful instrument!

Genshin’s whole soundtrack direction is one that blends cultural musical characteristics from the cultures it based its regions on, with western classical orchestras, it did so with west European (celtic) traditional folk music with Mondstadt and Chinese traditional with Liyue.
With Inazuma being based on Japan, naturally the inclination would be to just have orchestral music that features instruments like the koto or the shamisen and call it a day--but with Genshin, a challenge presents itself in the fact that Chinese and Japanese traditional music largely share a LOT of similarities in the sound of their instruments; the Koto is literally derived from the Guzheng, and the Shakuhachi would sound almost indistinguishable from a Xiao, both being bamboo flutes.
To a typical composer on the job they might end up treating both cultures with the same nuance of "just use the pentatonic scale and write for a koto once in a while", but I hate the idea of Liyue and Inazuma, distinct cultures and regions, sounding even remotely similar.
So I set out on a tiny project to envision at least part of what I think I would want to hear out of Inazuma's musical direction. I wanted to flirt with elements of microtonality through instruments like the Hichiriki, and to experiment with more ambiguous tonal ideas of the many scales and modes that derive itself from the Koto's tuning systems. Whereas a lot of traditional Chinese folksong has more of a simple pentatonic identity, the nature of scales like the Iwato and Kumoi scales leans more towards a sound more close to Phrygian/Locrian.
At the end of the day, I'm not Yu-peng Chen, and I'm certainly not a great orchestrator by any stretch, but as a student of music and a fan of music across various cultures, I wanted to give us something to indulge in while we wait for the actual content to come out!

I did a short little arrangement of "Orca's Theme" from Okami as part of an amazing arrangement album called "Sounds of Sunrise" organized by my new friends over at the PixelMixers! Please check it out here!
Okami has one of my favourite soundtracks of all time, and so when picking which track I wanted to do, Orca's Theme came to mind immediately, as it had a really fun adventurous vibe as well as a really catchy main melody. I thought it would be especially interesting if I combined traditional Japanese folk instruments--with surf rock! It's a kind of aesthetic blend that worked perfectly for the track and the character.
I was fortunate enough to get some community members to play for most of the instruments, and I decided to join in with some whistling as well! Though it's quite hidden in the mix since I'm not really a woodwind player, hahaha. This wouldn't have turned out as good without them, so please check out their links above!

Hi everyone! First new, non-reupload upload on my channel, and (oh no!) it's a song from Phantasy Star Online 2! The Challenge/Endless Quests have some really amazing, truly underrated pieces of music that really capture that wonderful J-pop inspired electronic music that SEGA Sound Team composers are known for. I wanted to make a short remix, mostly just to practice my synth production in regards to heavy EDM styles, with their gritty basses and light, airy lead synths. This track is perfect for practicing this, as it has a fairly simple, repetitive chord progression but with a really catchy melody with a LOT of potential for experimentation.

Arranged & remixed by dante
Alto Saxophone: Charles Ritz
I made a Hideki Naganuma-inspired big beat remix of "Neon Nights" from Phantasy Star Online 2 for the DJ Professor K takeover event at the SiIvaGunner channel. PSO2 is one of my all-time favourite games, and it has some of my all time favourite music, so I really wanted to try my hands at making a remix of this amazing song. I felt that a sample-heavy, big beat approach would've been PERFECT for the kind of song it is, so I used the original vocal files from the game and based my arrangement around them. I really wanted some live saxophone solos to really give the song a fresh new identity, so I contacted my good friend Charles Ritz to shed over some sections. Not only that--but for the very first time I recorded my own synth solo, based around a very familiar melody to PSO-series fans!
This likely won't be the only time you'll see PSO on my channel--with it having some of my all time favourite music, I'm likely going to be doing more stuff with it in the future, so I apologize if it isn't to your interest.

"Blossom Gale" is an original electronic, artcore inspired track that I originally wrote as a submission to a certain compilation album. Unfortunately, it did not get included, though I've decided to release it independently as a single.
This piece took a lot of inspiration from the music of PHANTASY STAR ONLINE 2 and BLUE REFLECTION, composed by Hideaki Kobayashi and Hayato Asano respectively, along with influences from well-known Japanese artcore composers such as Sakuzyo, xi and Feryquitous.
This was my first time really delving into the Japanese artcore genre, so I hope you enjoy!

"Chronicles of Aeolia ~Another Side~" is the follow-up album to my first major project, "Chronicles of Aeolia" from the beginning of 2018! This album took a bit longer than it should have!
A collection of both old tracks that had to be cut from the original project and new tracks based on the same principles of the album, this album serves to add a bit of depth to the musical narrative that I had presented with the original Chronicles of Aeolia, thus the subtitle, "Another Side". This primarily focuses on world-building, with area themes and town music, as well as follow-up night time variations of area themes introuced in the first album! This unfortunately may disappoint people looking forward to something more energetic, as I had opted not to include any battle music. Regardless, I hope you enjoy!
The original video was premiered live on my old channel as a sort of "release party", where friends of mine and I would come together to listen to each of the tracks one by one, with me adding a bit of extra commentary in the live chat. Unfortunately that's one of the major things that was lost in my original channel's termination, but I wanted to re-upload the full album, just to call back to the original release party.

Guitar & Bass: Alejandro Espinosa (wolfman1405)
This aggressively jazzy arrangement of Rude Buster is definitely one of the more exciting arrangements I have ever tackled. I took a lot of inspiration from one of my favourite jazz groups, SOIL & PIMP SESSIONS, who have coined the term "Death Jazz" to describe their use of quick, latin drum rhythms and their fast paced horn parts. I tried my best to simulate the style using sample libraries, however I understand that it doesn't come close to real instrumentalists playing. Regardless, I put a lot of effort in the midi sequencing, especially in the drum parts, so I hope it isn't too distracting. My good friend wolfman1405 once again comes to my aid and adds a flavourful jazz guitar and bass solo groove to the arrangement.

I composed the original soundtrack to the SiIvaGunner CCC side-story, "The Life and Times of Wade L.D." Inspired by the soundtracks to 5pb visual novels composed by Takeshi Abo, such as Steins;Gate, Robotics;Notes, Chaos;Head, this is the first time I've been responsible for creating almost all of the original music, according to specific direction. I hope you enjoy!

Electric Guitar: Alejandro Espinosa (wolfman1405)
This take on Schala's Theme has been one of my all-time favourite arrangement projects to date, and one I love to go back to! I wanted to convey a very 90s new-age/prog inspired sound, blended together with a lot of ethnic instrumentation, notably in the percussion where I used a combination of Rainmakers, Indian tabla, sleigh bells, and other miscellaneous percussion instruments. The use of fretless bass was ESSENTIAL in this arrangement, it provides such a lush, evocative sound compared to a regular electric bass. Indonesian gamelan also helps provide a unique soundscape to the backing harmonies. With the lead melody, I had also experimented with exchanging solo sections with various (midi) voices, including piano, acoustic guitar and turkish Zurna, which made for a super interesting and dynamic arrangement, if you ask me. Mixing this one together was difficult, as I was working with so many different, unusual timbres, but I'd like to say it came out great!

I've always wanted to make an arrangement of this track. It's one of my favourite pieces of music from Xenoblade 2 with the way it uses light woodwind textures combined with string orchestra and vocals, coming together to form a very ethereal soundscape well befit to the environmental design. I took most of my structural cues from the night-time version, as I felt it was more in-line with the direction I wanted to take. Most of my arrangement was focused on reinterpreting the original piece with a more ethnic, traditional feeling, so I used a duality between tin whistle and erhu to exchange the lead melody line. Instead of a very grand majestic-sounding orchestration, I wanted to dial it back to a small ensemble of iconic ethnic instruments alongside new-age, ambient pads and textures.

"Chronicles of Aeolia" is a JRPG-inspired concept album that I worked on for the 2-3 months back in the beginning of 2018, as part of a personal project both for myself and also for school. This concept album serves as the soundtrack for a hypothetical journey that could or could not come into fruition sometime in the future.
Inspired by composers like Yasunori Mitsuda, Yoko Shimomura, ACE+, and many others, I wanted to try and put myself in their position and try and compose a bunch of RPG music on my own, including all the essentials, such as battle themes, area themes and various event/cutscene themes too. Everything came together very nicely and I'm proud of the work produced here.
Thank you for listening, I hope you enjoy!

This short arrangement was also produced for the SiIvaGunner: King for a Day Tournament event 2 years ago. I had wanted to do a very piano-focused jazz-trio arrangement, written for piano, upright bass and drumset. All of the instruments here were entirely arranged and sequenced digitally--I am not a pianist by any means, however I tried my best to try to simulate real life playing techniques in the midi sequencing, which you can hopefully hear in my attempts at doing both piano and drum solos. Another notable melody pops up at the second half of the track that I am certain you won't miss!

This funky jazz-like arrangement of this world-renowned theme was arranged for the SiIvaGunner: King for a Day Tournament event. I had wanted to try and do a more upbeat, jazz (but not really jazz) inspired take that combines the big James Bond-esque orchestra sound of the original with a groovy rhythm section. I asked my good friends Charles Ritz and wolfman1405 to help play some parts, and they both killed it!

"SYSTEM" is my very first album release! I had wanted to create a collection of music that was primarily synth-based, working within genres such as techno, trance, ambient, etc. This album focuses on a combination of synthetic and electronic elements with composition styles that had a focus on giving each track its own distinct "personality". I hope you'll all enjoy it!
