Losing my mother Kara C 2023-12-08 | It's impossible to capture the complexity of my relationship with my mother and it's too soon for me to have fully processed her passing. All I know is that I didn't expect her death to hit me in the way it has. I didn't anticipate just how untethered to my own past I'd feel: the two people present in all of my childhood memories are now gone. My heart hasn't yet grown accustomed to the sharp edges of the loneliness that now dwells within.

The low was finding out my mom had fallen twice, was admitted to the hospital, and was giving the nursing staff a very hard time. She's uninjured, just 91 and full of hellfire and sass.
