ByL H-5A 3x PL-S FLUORESCENT FIXTURE + H-7A MERCURIAL FIXTURES!!! THE BULB HOME 2020-07-29 | Hello there! In this video we take a closer look to an interesting area lights developed by a mexican brand called ByL with two models: H-5A that is a fluorescent fixture which uses a trio of 13W PL-S non-integrated fluorescent lamps that pulls off a good show of preheat each time it starts and also the Mercury Vapor counterpart, the H-7A, which the one I got is really damaged by the action of a truck, so we can't see it in action! Hope I'll get a functioning one soon!
Really loud and noisy old fluorescent preheat fixture from 1967! THE BULB HOME 2020-07-20 | This is a really old and noisy fixture from 1967! Just listen to those sounds and watch how it flickers when it starts!! Just amazing! The humming from the ballast must be produced by the old magnetic core being separated by wear and heat.I think it is a 40W linear fluorescent, with a Sylvania starter... I don't know what kind of ballast it uses, but as this is located on a really old house dating back to 1968, which is just about to get through a process of remodeling, so I'll try to keep the ballast, starter (and perhaps the bulb) to myself.

SOLAR was a mexican brand before other companies arrived to the country in the 1990s with the NAFTA and destroyed little goverment-helped brands like SOLAR was!It was probably based on Sylvania-made bulbs, but anyway, as you can see it's a very good product! Color reproduction is awesome for a not-so-thick phosphor coating and it puts out an amazing output of light!

Sony SLV-L4 VHS Videocassette Recorder. THE BULB HOME 2014-12-07 | This is how my old Sony 4-head SLV-L4 VHS system works! I actually like a lot this VHS, and when the Internet gets slow, you don't need to wait until your video charges, it just plays without interruptions.Let me tell you some of this machine's history; my parents bought it when they got married, something about 1994 or so. Then, when VHS got obsolete, they give it to me in order to play with it or something. But with so many years of hard use, some things have been stop working properly, like the cassette elevator for example: sometimes when you introduce a tape, the cassette gets stuck between the upper part and the rollers, so you need to open the videocassette in order to release it. Another thing is that sometimes random the stop mechanism don't work and when you rewind the tape and it gets to the end, the motor makes a mess with the tape.But, displacing those little funny details that actually makes my video mode unique and amazing, the video works simply amazing and I can't imagine an smartphone during that long. This VHS was made when things where made to last, and I think with the proper maintenance it can last forever! Those little problems that I told you before can be easily be repaired shortly and cheaply.

It's old, and it have been used for a lot of hours before, I mean it has the arc tube pretty deep blackened. But surprisingly, it still puts an incredibly amount of light, perhaps is just the good quality of old Westinghouse bulbs! This is an excellent bulb, however in the other hand, the phosphorus coating don't work like it is supposed to (the light given is still really green) but it's an old bulb and it had work a lot before, so I don't really care about it, I just love the way this bulb is.Anyway the light output is bright, smooth, and a strange combination between green, yellow and white.Hope you like the video!

Made by Westinghouse in the US around 70s or 80s, whit a lot of hours in the arc tube but still unique and beautiful.This is a pure Westinghouse cleartopper Mercury Vapor 400W bulb, with the /W model, that according to some research I made and some guys at Lighting Gallery, its a very hard item to find, this is not made by the Philips/ Westinghouse division, this is only old good Westinghouse.I don't know if it still works but I will find out later!Wanna know if it still works? High Pressure Sodium, Metal Halide and Mercury Vapor. THE BULB HOME 2014-08-20 | Here we have the 3 kinds of High Intensity Discharge bulbs firing up at once. As you can see, the dimmest one is the mercury vapor when every bulb has reach full brightness, and that's because the HPS beat up the Mercury Vapor bulb in the market like a year and a half ago, but that doesn't means that MV is a bad and inefficient light bulb. Actually, Mercury Vapor is more efficient than incandescent and maybe even halogen.
250kV & 112kV High Tension Power Lines. THE BULB HOME 2014-08-01 | Now here we have those coast power lines. One line manage 250kV in a really big cream-colored towers. The other line is death and used to carry on 112-115kV on a wood poles until a heavy storm tear all of them apart. The 250kV power line actually have a really interesting trace: they follow all the coast line from a hydroelectric located on a river almost about to lead to the ocean to a considerably big city on an island; On the way between, there are two minor islands, so the lines have to cross over the ocean to reach the other island! You can see it at minute 01:44 on the video! When the power lines cross the ocean, the cables transform to an horizontal position in order to cross over the water with small towers that are not that heavy, and reduce risk of collapse.
Dangerous Broken Old 105kV Death Power Line. THE BULB HOME 2014-07-21 | Today I saw this amazingly dangerous thing! This are an old horizontal 105kV power line. But as you can see, those poles are broken! That is extremely dangerous but no-one seems to care about cause' the line is death, the cables has no current on, but anyway, IT CAN COLLAPSE AND CAUSE SERIOUS INJURIES ON PEOPLE DOWN THE HILL! It's amazing how the electrical apartment don't give a shit on their electrical installations. This is actually really serious and I don't know why, for the love of god, they don't turn down this old poles!
Retro Westinghouse I.E.M. Portable Table Fan. THE BULB HOME 2014-07-21 | Here you have my little old portable table fan made by I.E.M. Westinghouse around 60's - 70's. I like it a lot, but I don't use it much because it don't really make a lot of wind and it just can't refresh my room. But it's a pleasure to have it; it is really unique and an antique. ❤️
The Pole In The Middle Of The Storm. THE BULB HOME 2014-07-20 | Our street power pole in the middle of a big lightning storm. Tonight, the 3-phased 34kV pole had to beat hard winds, rain and a curious set of lightning flashes all over the sky.As you notice in the video, the HPS street lamp was turned OFF, this because of the transformer's blow-up minutes earlier. Very poet and relaxing seeing that scene of the pole in the middle of the storm. And that's a cool name for some kind or novel or stuff: «The Pole In The Middle Of The Storm».
Powerful 500kV High Tension Power Lines. THE BULB HOME 2014-07-19 | One of the most powerful and dangerous lines: 500kV 3-phase line. I really like those; they are big and beautiful but really, really dangerous. This are double circuit 3-phase.
250kV High Tension Power Lines. THE BULB HOME 2014-07-15 | Here you have an 6-phased 250kV lines interconnection. This power Lineas are really interesting, specially the connection tower which have different arms to distribute the cables over there.
Tubular 208kV High Tension Power Lines. THE BULB HOME 2014-07-02 | Here we have this amazing tubular-shaped towers power line carrying 208kV. They are really awesome, I love that shaped that they have. Also almost get killed while filming this video because this towers are in a really dangerous place near a big fish market. But they where near a train station so I didn't need to walk much in those streets.
Small Old 105kV And Big Newer 220kV Power Lines. THE BULB HOME 2014-07-01 | As you may notice on my channel before (it's pretty obvious) I love almost anything that works with that beautiful magic (but dangerous) power called electricity! The light bulbs are one of my favorite electric devices, but I love high voltage power lines and stuff as well!So for now on I'm going out to film every big and beautiful high voltage power line across my city! Hope you like it!Anyway, I almost get killed while filming those towers showed in the following video; they are in a really dangerous suburb near the city! The green big conical ones serves 220kV, and I really but really love those V-Shaped ceramic insulators that they use up there!
132kV Old High Tension Power Lines. THE BULB HOME 2014-06-29 | Here you have this beautiful 132kV high tension power lines near my uncle's house. I really like the shape of this kind of towers with 3 live phases. They are old, so they are really short; some towers have been replaced because of that issue as you can see on the video. Anyway they are still in use and I love them. ❤️
Philips 175W Clear Mercury Vapor Firing Up. THE BULB HOME 2014-05-09 | This is my Philips 175W mercury vapor firing up. I like a lot this bulb; it is kinda' special for me for some reasons and the way I got it is kinda' funny; it was inside an old NEMA fixture mounted in a short pole, used to light an abandoned parking lot when this was in use. But since it closed in 2003, this bulb was unused for about 9 years, full of dirt and careless. The pole was so short that I can even reach it with an small escalator, so I bring one from home and took the bulb away.

Now it is abandoned, I don't know why, but the pole was really short (with a little escalator I can actually reach it easily), so I bring one and took the bulb apart. The fixture obviously not because it is big, full of all kind insects and it isn't anything of another world: just another old NEMA-head 175W one... I already have one, so I didn't want it.
Broken 100W Mercury Vapor In Action! THE BULB HOME 2014-05-04 | This is an old 100W Mercury Vapor bulb that I found it in a trash can. It was already broken, so I finished the job and notice that it used to be a self-ballasted one with no ballast required, but the outer bulb was gone, and I just can't run naked the filament (anyway, it was broken as well). If I wanted to run it, I need to twist the main electrode cable of the arc tube to the line cable. So I did it and now, following the proper protection protocols, I can run this thing safely (more or less). ⚠️DANGER⚠️ DO NOT ATTEMPT TO RUN A MERCURY VAPOR OR ANY TYPE OF HID NAKED ARC TUBE WITHOUT A PREVIOUS PROTOCOL OF PRECAUTIONS AND THE PREVIOUSLY KNOWLEDGE. General Electric 250W Coated Mercury Vapor Bulb. THE BULB HOME 2014-03-29 | This is my General Electric 250W Mercury Vapor bulb.Now, I like this bulb, is pretty unique and it is already used so it has a little history behind it. Got them with a sleeve that don´t matches with the bulb. The sleeve is from a similar bulb made by Osram. This bulb is actually General Electric, and it work amazing, gives some good light but it has little withe spots all over the arc tube, meaning that the bulb is in the middle of its useful life.
Osram 22W CFL Adapter/Circline Fluorescent Bulb. THE BULB HOME 2014-03-29 | I got this bulb really cheap at the supermarket. Nothing of the other world; just and ordinary made-in-China CFL, but I like it and you can still can use the ballast adapter with a new bulb when the old one reaches the end of it's life.
