After coming back from yet another break and seeing the complete and absolute domination of this game by so many talented people (too long of a list to mention people), I got inspired to do something that I don't usually do. RTA. Years of thinking that I was only going to be ever good at making TASes, even though I've pretty much done every trick full level RTA more than a couple of times (all except TAS 4-2 until now) and think I uploaded a few of them. I've now done every single level in this game (besides 8-4 lol lekukie and buffski are gods) tied with the TAS, yay.
This hardest thing for me with this trick is the first block bump. It's actually so bad with the 2A inputs and the getting the perfect jump height after, BabyRage. The 2nd turn around isn't so bad since the inputs are just a very quick left for two frames then right (still hard but not 2A levels of annoying) all while doing it on specific frames. The pipe entry I thought would be the hardest part but it's actually not *that* bad surprisingly? Not sure how it is for others though. There is so much that goes into this trick it's insane. It may not look that bad to a normal person, but it absolutely is. Anyone who can do this trick at all, including even segmenting it with savestates, is absolutely one of the best players in the history of the game, ever. Well, besides me of course, I'm bad ecks dee. I've never even finished this game ONCE in my entire life lol. I need to git gud

Anyways.... this actually isn't my first time getting it, but it is the first time with recording. I wanted to get this like 3 months earlier but real life stuff (also I'm bad yepppp kosmicZ). In this video I am a framerule slower than the TAS and exactly a second faster than the -2 done in the World Record (I got the framerule by a frame oof). You can tie the TAS into -3 but you would need a faster cheep manip setup, the clip into the floor has to be close to perfect, and the slowing down to walking speed for Full FPG has to be very close to the flag. (Doing it perfectly would get the TAS framerule by four frames)
The Cheep manip setup I did (the buffer at the start of the level) was I think found by marikh, where you have to wait a framerule on the title, then get to -2 on record pace (1-1 FPG, Perfect 1-2, -1 Full FPG) *Don't hit the mushroom block it changes the cheep patterns*
Also, I have no idea if anybody has gotten -2 CCC full level, but this should bring the sum of best down to like a mid 2:30.6
Oh and I did mavgrip for the clip because of the quick left/right's, i almost got it without it but i'm bad.

Buffer at the beginning then down+right off the bullet. For this setup you do the buffer at the beginning, then land on the edge of the first bullet launcher while holding down+right. That should give 0 and 8 flashing under the L in RULE. This gives a 6 to 7 frame right release instead of a 1 to 2 like the regular setup gives. - 6 frame right release gives D50 - 7 frame right release gives D70 I think this might be the last of the few setups. I have like 10 more but idk if I'll upload those. hmmmm maybe the D90 setup8-3 FPG setup #3Nobodycallsmetubby2020-02-13 | The second of the few setups that are suppose to make the right release a bit easier. A combination of both the buffer jump at the beginning and the down+right off of a pipe. (like the 8-1 fpg setup that I mentioned)
For this setup, do a buffer jump at the beginning, then land on the back lip of the first pipe while holding Down+right. This should make F and 7 flashing under the L in RULE. Lastly you gotta do a right release. Instead of the 1 to 2 frame right release with the regular setup, it's a 6 to 8 frame right release with this.
- 6 Frame right release is D40 (still don't know how different it is compared to D50) - 7 Frame right release is D60 (the exact same as D70) - 8 Frame right release is D70 (the ideal xsubpixel that you want)
There is a backup if you get A and 2 flashing. (Landing on the very last frame of the pipe) The right release is almost the same with it being 7 to 8 frame right release. - 7 frame right release is D40 - 8 frame right release is D608-3 FPG setup #2Nobodycallsmetubby2020-02-13 | The first of the few setups that are suppose to make the right release a bit easier. This setup is kinda a combination of the buffer jump and the pillar strat that I posted last time.
For this setup do a buffer jump at the beginning, land on the pillar like I do while holding Down+Right, then falling off the pillar you just press right. This should give C and 4 flashing under the L in RULE. This makes it so you have to release right for 3 to 4 frames instead of 1 to 2 frames.
- 3 frame right release is D40 (which feels like D50 to me but I'm not sure how different they are) - 4 frame right release is D60 which is exactly like D70 - 5 frame right release is D80 which is one pixel too far to get FPG. (Although I have gotten D80 fpg by pressing left earlier than normal for the flag inputs)
An interesting thing about this setup is that if you do C30 inputs (pressing B late for the stair inputs) you still get setup for FPG. Doing C30 inputs gives D40 for 3 frame release and D50 for 4 frame release.SMB1 Minus World -3 Wall-Clip Setup #2Nobodycallsmetubby2020-01-31 | All you gotta do is do a full jump off the second to last or last frame of the block, and while in the air let go of B, then the frame after you land on the floor repress B. By the way my setup at the start was slow and my clip was atrocious but I still tied the WR's -3 oof.

If you have no idea what I am talking about then just go to the start of the video and go frame by frame to see what I did.8-1 TAS Framerule save using down+right FPG setupNobodycallsmetubby2020-01-28 | This isn't the first time I've saved this framerule, but it is the first I got on any kind of recording. The place were I made my savestate was a second or so before the 300 appears in 8-1. The setup for FPG that I used to get the framerule was the down+right setup, where you land on the ground for a frame while holding down+right, then do a jump a frame later (while still holding down+right to accelerate slower). Doing that should give F and 7 under the L in rule which means the FPG should be setup for D70. B and 3 flashing is one frame late, and D and 5 flashing is two frames late. Also, I do a jump onto the beetle while holding down+right to make it a bit easier to time the jump off the floor. It doesn't have to be off of that specific beetle, you could do it off other enemies in the level as well. You could also hold down+right off of ledges, I use to do it before at the starblock area, and or off of a pipe like the 4th pipe, but I was getting the strat I got in this video pretty well, so I just did that one. And just like the other strats I have and will upload, they can be consistent for me, but it could be different for others. Yes this does save a framerule over the current WR by kosmic. Very possible to get in a run, although not easy. but seriously tho @kosmickid12 wen put this in runs? kosmicZSMB1 8-3 FPG setupNobodycallsmetubby2020-01-23 | All you gotta do is land on the first pixel of the pillar without holding B, then when mario is falling repress B. Doing that should give D50 (1 and 9 flashing under the L in RULE). 2nd pixel is 5 and D flashing. The only real problem with this is that you can't really do D50 stair inputs (because that gives D30), only D70 stair inputs (it gives D50). So if you get D70 a lot then this could work for you. I've gotten this a few times full level but it could be different for other people.
One more thing about this is that when I found this setup, I would occasionally get B and 3 flashing (under the L in RULE). I found out that there are a few frames that if you jump on them, and land on the first pixel it will be B and 3 instead of 1 and 9 because you fall off the pillar a frame later. But if you fall off the bullet launcher like I did in this video there are 6 frames in a row where you don't get B and 3 flashing. so do that LilZA perfect 8-4 with kosmics stratsNobodycallsmetubby2020-01-19 | This is to show how insane kosmic's 8-4 in the new record is, also because people are saying that it's "perfect" or 1 frame off perfect when it's not. The frames to save over kosmic's run is 1 frame in wall jump room, and 2 frames in the turnaround. Those three frames are very hard to get, especially the wall jump one, so saying that he has three frames to save is nothing to take away from his run. Getting even 4 to 5 frames off of perfect is insane but 3 frames is madness. Even with the first room fast acceleration (assuming you save all 5 frames with it) you would still have to play the rest of 8-4 very well. Most likely will lose 2 to 3 frames just on the wall jump, then going into the turnaround you can only lose 2 frames just to be tied or be a frame ahead, and on top of that have a perfect water. 1-1 - standard 1-1 no fpg because you can't do the stair setup because that would waste too many frames. So you would have do to a thing kinda like 8-1 fpg. I didn't have a setup so I didn't put it in here
1-2 - Got this framerule by 5 frames. The trick at the beginning isn't that bad but doing it like the TAS does is a bit different. I couldn't get it without hitting the block. If someone gets it, that may save around 10 frames more or less. So even getting that probably won't get the next framerule. Also at the part with the wall jump, the screen sometimes scrolls you forward depending on your jump towards the pipe, making it so you load the plant later and have to wait longer for it to go down. 117 is the xpos I got hitting the wall and 120 going into the pipe.
4-1 - Can't hit the top of the flagpole in this level - standard 4-1
4-2 - Misses the Framerule by a frame doing fast accel. It would save it but since the next in game second is close, doing the fast accel would give a 6 meaning that the timer would have to take an extra frame counting down.
4-3 - Doing a Fast accel saves another framerule by a frame. Doesn't need to have a perfect jump off of the elevator to save this. (Jump as late as possible off the block to flagpole so that you are higher on the flag)
4-4 - I've done a wall clip in this level but it's the same speed as what I did in this TAS. So you could do either. (Saved this by 5 frames)
5-1 - Using a strat by Tecate, you can hold right the whole time, do the super jump off of the koopa, hit the wall pixel (2 framer), hope you got the right height of a jump off the wall, then do fpg ez. This has been done multiple times by tecate check that out here - bit.ly/2smr8S9
5-2 - Using my B press setup, you can do a clip into the side of the pipe like the TAS does and wrong warp to the warpzone. oh and the screen HAS to be scrolling for this to work. I have done this RTA using the B press and have gotten 5-2 perfect (1 framerule off of the TAS)
8-1 - Depending on what frame you leave 5-2 you can do a super jump off the 3 koopa section. That would make this framerule easier to get but I didn't enter on the right frame so I couldn't do it.
8-2 - The Vine jump is a bit weird but it doesn't have to be really fast to save the framerule. FPG is already setup, so doing a right jump at the base of the flag will give D60. (got the framerule by 11 frames)
8-3 - Standard 8-3, missed the next framerule by 10 frames or so
8-4 - 1st room - Fast accel at the start (done RTA because I haven't seen anybody do it) saves a frame. 2nd room - A water clip like the TAS does (First done by lekukie) to scroll mario far enough on the screen to where you don't have to wait for the firebar. (Saves 10 - 12 frames over a perfect non-clip) The bloop pattern I got in this should be the best you can get, where he doesn't turnaround after you pass him and kills you. 3rd room - This room would be faster by 2 frames but I found out that the plant hit box is a pixel taller than smb1, so rip that. 4th room - nothing special, just a fast accel 5th room - Part of the reason why I had to wait an hour on the title. Bruce and bowser are not nice. If it wasn't getting a bad fire ball in the first room or getting a bad bloop in the 2nd, it was bruce and bowser jumping backwards and throwing a million hammers. 8-4 IL speed - 8-G, 8-J, 8-E, 8-6[TAS] Super Mario Bros.: The Lost Levels All Levels in 34:35.48Nobodycallsmetubby2019-12-25 | AKA "Super Mario Bros. 2 Japan" released only in japan until it was remastered for Super Mario All-Stars in 93'. Absolutely the longest TAS I have ever done. Started in May/June of this year while taking a bunch of breaks from getting the maximum burnout possible and also other life things. Even with the burnout I still got it done. I have never been more happy with a any TAS I have ever made. I wanted this to be a surprise so I didn't tell anyone. Now onto the TAS details: TAS Timing: 35:28.05 RTA Timing: 34:35.48 Time removed because of loads: 36.907 seconds Rerecord count: 29534 (not counting all the backup and testing fm2's I made so more like 40k) Since I don't really have anything to compare this TAS to, I will compare to a 9-4 warpless TAS made by mars in 2010. 992 frames saved or 16.51 seconds in just 1-1 to 8-4 from optimization, jumping through Firebars, and using "devilsSpell". And I think this also beats the A-D warpless TAS as well but I'm not sure.
TAS commentary: Fireballs in this game are something else. They cost me time in 6-4, 8-4, and D-4 which is really annoying.. Always blocking where I need to go :(. I wish they were as free as the All-Stars Version. oh well...
There were also quite a bit of levels where I didn't get the framerule by a frame or two. At least 8 levels. But I can say the same thing about barely save a framerule by 1-2 frames. What's good about missing a framerule by a couple of frames is that you can make the level really entertaining. 5-2 is a perfect example of missing the next framerule by a couple of frames, I could slow down, do cool things, while still saving the optimal framerule.
Jumping through Firebars is kinda new I guess as it wasn't a thing when the first TAS of this game was made. It happens because with a long firebar, there times where it makes big jumps from frame to frame and if mario is positioned just right he'll have the firebar skip right over his hitbox. i.imgur .com/WgsOLjl.gif
Wind... as useful as it is, it seems like it never wants to be on the right wind cycle to let me clip a pipe/wall faster... thanks wind (The Speed of the Wind pushes mario into blocks). Speaking of wind, it made 7-1 one of the the only levels where you can get the optimal framerule without Flagpole Glitch. interesting stuff
Bouncing off enemies. In this game you get a much bigger bounce off of enemies compared to the first game (Super Mario Bros.) making it so you can do super jumps like at the end of 5-1. But it makes getting BBG a bit harder because you have to do a FPG and land on the bullet/enemy at the same time.
"DevilsSpell" is a trick that was found I think some time in 2007? but I'm not sure. It saves time in 5-2, 8-1, C-1. It works because all they did is remove the bottom half of the pipe and placed it on the top. not flipping the part where you enter, so if you clip into the pipe you can enter it like it was any normal pipe. Since you aren't suppose to enter it, it wrong warps you to another part of the level / takes you to which ever Vine/Pipe is currently loaded. (This trick doesn't work in the All-Stars version)
Full Flagpole Glitch or as most people know it "BBG" is where you use an enemy and or you are a block under the flagpole to clip into the base and skip not only the animation of the flag coming down but also walking to the castle. This is done in at least 10 or more levels.
You can only get to world 9 if you beat world's 1 - 8 warpless. I've seen many people ask how they got to world 9 so I thought I would add this.
Also it may look like a mistake that I lost Fire in 9-4 but it's actually faster to lose it there rather than losing it in 9-1.
In order to get to the Letter worlds you have to have at least 8 stars on the title screen (which means beating the game 8 times) then hold A and start. I'm not going to beat the game 8 times so I just start with the max amount of stars you can get.
While doing this TAS, I found a way to clip the top most bricks in a water level. Making it so you don't have to slow down to either clip the coral or to swim under it. I haven't seen any other TAS use it so again I'm not sure if it's "new". I'm pretty sure I did it to save time in 3-4 and B-2. Mostly B-2.
In D-4 I didn't kill Bruce (aka fake bowser) because that would make the real bowser have a pattern that I couldn't get past.

Human Theory TAS in 4:54.681Nobodycallsmetubby2019-12-12 | The 3rd (and probably the last?) addition in Human Theory TASes that i've made over the past few years. This one adds the 8-2 TAS framerule which in the past was thought to be not possible due to the bullet bill not being able to shoot fast enough. But after going back to it and looking through tons of different framerules, I found a setup that was just barely possible (Framerule 542). Doing a fast accel, having a god-like pipe jump while hitting certain enemies to get a fast bullet bill shot, then trying to land the earliest possible on the bullet bill to get BBG. Doing all of that will get the TAS framerule by a single frame.
This TAS also adds 3 more frames in 8-4 (8-A, 8-B, 8-K, 8-9). In my old TAS, I purposefully lost frames in the turnaround because at the time, no person had even done the backwards accel fast enough to save any frames. Now the WR has a faster turnaround than my old TAS, and there are clips where they even go faster than that using a savestate. This is absolutely the fastest 8-4 can go without doing a double fast accel or using left+right in the water section. One more thing, the last room fast accel saves 1 frame and not 2 as most people think it does.
Also I will not add 4-2 TAS framerule until someone does it full level. Which I believe will not happen unless there is somehow a different way of doing it. I can add things like 8-1 FPG/8-2 FastBBG because unlike 4-2, 8-1 and 8-2 are straight forward levels (and have been done full level). While yes, they do have some precise movements that are difficult like the pipe jump in 8-2, they aren't as crazy precise as 4-2 where you have to do very deliberate left/right/A presses. 4-2 isn't like 8-1/8-2 where it's do a fast accel, hold right for most of the level, then press left a bit then get it. It's much more than that, which is why I don't have hope of it being done. eh who knows.
oh and even though it's only been a few months since I made my video saving the 8-2 TAS framerule, a few people have already gotten it full level which is pretty cool. It was sort of the same way when I made a post/video on how you could save the 8-1 TAS framerule, but people got 8-2 faster oof. If you read all of this, you deserve a kosmicZVS. I used 3 segments in this video. the one that took the longest of them was definitely the pipe jump ugh. Using cheat codes I played every level the fastest they can go and see how much time I would have to save in order to save another framerule. 1-1 - Even if you save 3 frames over what I did in my video you won't save the framerule so the only possible way of saving another is by doing a backwards flagpole. I have many ways of doing a backwards flagpole but setting it up takes too much time that it wouldn't save anything. 1-2 - Using an invincibility cheat code I played this level 16 frames faster than in my video but it still didn't save it. so even if the plant wasn't there it wouldn't save time. 4-2 - Like 1-2, I used the invincibility cheat code and entered the pipe like the plant wasn't there. You would need to enter the pipe more than 15 frames faster than what I did. Which is not possible unless that plant is gone. 8-4 - Well the first room plant doesn't disappear so you have to wait for it to go down. The wall jump pipe has a plant out so yeah. not sure how you would save time in this level uh unless you do some shenanigans in the water section which can't happen unless you slow down to like 10 speed.Good 4-4 frameruleNobodycallsmetubby2018-12-16 | This would be easier if I had a smb2j practice rom Kappa. Both Crasyfingers and I tested it and it seems that if you hit the 2nd mushroom block, and wait for it to be fully out of block, it should turn you around on the pole. From what I have tested it doesn't work with the 1st mushroom block only the 2nd. Also, this could possibly be RTA viable if you know the patterns and since there is a large window for doing the backwards glitch. The best way I found to get the glitch every time is don't hit any enemy besides the one I hit in the video. @ 0:31 also you want do delay your B press at the start to get a 222 on the timer. I tested 13 frames at the start and found that the glitch worked on all of them so your B press doesn't have to be precise or anything like that. There are some frames where you can hit one of the other 4 enemies and it will save it but the one I hit makes the glitch work most out of all of them.
Kinda like 4-1 judges depending on what frame you enter -1 from 1-2 you can hit the mushroom block and save a frame. But it's different from 8-1 in which you want to hit the very back of the block. Some frames you can hit anywhere on the block, the last 5 frames of the block, the last 3 frames of the block, and lastly there is a frame where you have to hit the very last frame of the block to save a frame.1-1 as Fire Mario [Human Theory] in 24.61Nobodycallsmetubby2018-07-02 | The mushroom spawns 3 frames faster depending on which frame you press start on the title screen.
