Intermountain Vipassana Center - Dhamma Pasava 2017

A New Developing Vipassana Center in Idaho

Dhamma Pasava, which means “Spring of Dhamma”, is located just outside of Lava Hot Springs, Idaho, on 256 acres of agricultural land. The center is centrally located in the Intermountain Region about 1 3/4 hours from Salt Lake City, Utah, 2 hours from Jackson, Wyoming, and 35 minutes from Pocatello, Idaho.
The center property was purchased outright in the summer of 2016 after a generous old-student donation was made toward the development of a Vipassana Center in the Intermountain Region.
Regular 1-day courses and work weekends have been held at the center since its purchase. In 2017 Dhamma Pasava also offered a 10-day course for old female students, a 3-day course for Old students and its first 10-day course for new and old students in 2017.

Completed Construction and other projects include:
* remodels of the original buildings to better serve the needs of the center
* an access road up to where the main center will be built
* a 1600 sq foot straw-bale shop serving as a temporary Dhamma Hall
* planting of over 150 trees and other landscaping projects

CURRENT PROJECTS

A Master Site plan that accommodates 140 students and servers has been approved by all necessary permitting bodies. Plans include future residential buildings, a dining hall, kitchen, Dhamma Hall, Pagoda, and systems for both public water and septic needs.

IVA currently has enough funding to complete the water system (excluding the well and pump), the septic system, and the excavation and foundation on the first residence. All of these projects are currently under construction.

IVA's goal is to develop year round accomodations for 60 students as soon as possible and from that point continue building to full capacity of 120 students and 20 servers as demand requires.

Each residence will have 10 private rooms with attached bath. Each room will accommodate 2 students in the first phases of the center and ultimately serve as single accommodation when more residences are built.

Completion of the first residence will require an additional $275 K.

Contractors are prepared to have this building finished and operational by mid April 2018, in time for the next 10 day course scheduled for mid May, 2018, if funding is available.

Completion of the first phase will require an additional $1.4 million. This will include the build out of one additional residence, a kitchen and dining building and mandatory fire cistern.

Once the first phase is completed, Dhamma Pasava will be able to hold year round 10-day courses. Until then the center is limited to holding tenting only courses, which greatly limits the number of courses and the populace served by the center.
