First I made calk paint using 3 parts paint, 1 part plaster of paris and water. This recipe is compliments of DIYTyler. I painted the jars, scraped some of the paint off to give it a rustic look and sealed them with a bees wax and mineral oil finish.
Using pallet wood I made a simple tray to fit the 3 jars. Then I soaked fine steel wool in white vinegar for a week, then brushed that solution on the pallet wood tray.

In this video I turned pallets into a tilt out trash bin.
The entire project was made using pallet wood except for the backer board, hinges and knob.
I stained the segmented wooden front with Varathane Wood Stain followed by some wipe on poly. i put a Danish Oil finish on the rest.
In this video I made the Flag of Sicily which is red and yellow with the head of Madusa in the center with 3 bent running legs and 3 ears of wheat.
The red represent the city of Palermo and the yellow represents the city of Corleone. Those two cities with the first to rebel against the government of King Charles I, who was the French born son of King Louis the VIII. King Charles I, ruled the Island of Sicily and Naples in the 13th century.
After transferring the image onto wood, I outlined with with a wood burner. Using the band saw and the scroll saw I cut around the image. With the Dremel, I sanded to the final shape. I used water color pencils to color in the image.
The backer board with made using re-sawed plywood cut into rectangles. On the router I made a chamfer on all 4 sides to give the appearance of subway tile. i used tinted varnish to color the red and yellow sections of the flag. Then made a simple frame.

Music: Propeller by Silent Partner YouTube audio library Free Dog by Silent Partner YouTube audio libraryGLUTEN FREE MANICOTTIYour trash my treasure2016-12-21 | Gluten-Free Manicotti WHAT IS CELIAC DISEASE?
When people with celiac disease eat gluten (a protein found in wheat, rye and barley), their body mounts an immune response that attacks the small intestine. These attacks lead to damage on the villi, small fingerlike projections that line the small intestine, that promote nutrient absorption. When the villi get damaged, nutrients cannot be absorbed properly into the body.
Left untreated, celiac disease can lead to additional serious health problems. These include the development of other autoimmune disorders like Type I diabetes and multiple sclerosis (MS), dermatitis herpetiformis (an itchy skin rash), anemia, osteoporosis, infertility and miscarriage, neurological conditions like epilepsy and migraines, short stature, and intestinal cancers.
Currently, the only treatment for celiac disease is lifelong adherence to a strict gluten-free diet. People living gluten-free must avoid foods with wheat, rye and barley, such as bread and beer. Ingesting small amounts of gluten, like crumbs from a cutting board or toaster, can trigger small intestine damage.
Recipe:
Crepes 1 gluten free flour or rice flour (I use Bob's Red Mill products) 1 cup water 3 eggs Mix all ingredients, the batter should be thinner than pancake batter.
Filling: 1 pound ricotta cheese 1/2 cup mozzarella 1/4 cup mozzarella 1 egg 1/2 teaspoon parsley 1 teaspoon sugar
Cooking spray 8 or 9 inch non-stick pan your favorite spaghetti sauce
This recipe will give you 6-8 manicotti.
First make the crepes. Coat a non-stick pan with cooking spray, add 1/3 cup of batter to pan. Swirl the pan so the batter covers the bottom completely. When the batter solidifies and you can slide a spatula under it, it is ready to flip over. Cook about 1-2 minutes per side.
Once the crepes are done, fill them and roll them. Pour spaghetti cause in the bottom of an oven pan, lay add the manicotti, cover with more tomato sauce and sprinkle 1/4 cup of mozzarella cheese over the top.
Cook for 45 min at 350.
