This makes it a hybrid inverter. The Schneider XW PRO 6848 is battery based for any nominal 48V battery including lithium Iron Phosphate (LiFePO4). PDP stands for Power Distribution Panel. Schneider makes two models of the PDP for the XW PRO inverter. There is a small, and large PDP. Both come with one 250A circuit breaker as a battery disconnect, and some AC circuit breakers. Both have a means to connect the single 250A breaker to one inverter.The small PDP is made for one inverter only. It takes up less room, and costs a little less than the full size. As of this video, it is about $650 which makes it a real bargain if you know for certain you only need one inverter. Why do I think this is the best battery? DavidPoz 2022-09-01 | Let's compare the features of these popular server rack batteries and determine which is best for off grid solar? One is the Jakiper Pro from Orient Power, and the other is LifePower4 from Signature Solar. LifePower4 battery from Signature Solar is my favorite for building up a large scale system. How many times have the inverters shut down? Overloaded? Nuisance tripped? I've been running my Growatt inverters and Lithium batteries off grid for one year. They have been working great. Safety Concerns with Auto Transformer and Growatt 240V inverter SPF 5000 ES DavidPoz 2022-01-28 | I've received several questions regarding safety concerns about my inverter setup. This video is to answer those questions. I have two inverters running in parallel. They are Growatt SPF 5000 ES purchased from Signature Solar. Each inverter is 5kW, so combined that's 10kW of power. I've combined it with 30kWh of battery capacity. The batteries I'm using are Gyll (EG4) 48V LiFePO4. This is all part of my off grid solar system running my whole house and garage.The inverter makes 240VAC single phase. I'm using the auto-transformer from solar-edge to create a neutral. This "splits" the 240V in half, providing me two 120V legs. Keep in mind, this is a DIY channel. I'm using my equipment off grid. Please be safe for your own setups. Building a Solar Generator, Powerwall, System for off grid Tiny House on Wheels DavidPoz 2021-09-03 | This is a complete build of a solar system that will power my friends Tiny House on Wheels. The video shows all the layout, connections, and testing. So make sure to watch to the end if you want to see it fired up and working.My friend's nick-name is Poet. Poet built his Tiny House on a trailer to it can be towed, THOW. He built it and bought a piece of land completely off grid. There is no grid power available. There is a well on the property that requires 240V AC to power it. Right now, Poet, uses a Honda Generator model EU7000 which can output 120V and 240V split-phase like we use. The well pump is submersible, inside the well. The cord comes out of the well and has a 30 amp twist-lock plug on the end. This is what he plugs into the generator to run his well. This means that in order to have water inside his tiny house, Poet must fire up his generator. This is costly, noisy, and inconvenient. I'm building Poet a solar power system to handle his needs for the well pump, and a future air conditioner. Below are some of the parts I'm using:Inverter: I'm using the Growatt SPF 5000 ES model. This inverter has a built-in solar MPPT charge controller (up to 6,000 watts of solar). It can output up to 5000 watts of AC power at 240V 60 hertz. This inverter can also charge the batteries from an AC source, such as his generator. I bought the inverter from Signature Solar. Parallel 3 Inverters Together, off grid 48V 120/240, 1-Month Update DavidPoz 2021-08-20 | Last month I paralleled 3 inverters together to increase their output. Now it has been one month of running my home and garage on them and it's time for an update. Bottom line, they have been working excellent. The inverter is from Growatt. It's the SPF 5000ES model. It can output a continuous 5000 watts (5kW) of AC power at 230 or 240 volts (50 or 60 hertz). I'm using an auto-transformer from Solar Edge to provide a neutral so that I can have 120/240V split-phase. Total output: 15kW Each inverter has a built-in solar MPPT charge controller. DIY Mini-Split Heat Pump, Full Installation, 2021 DavidPoz 2021-08-07 | Wow, this is the most efficient mini-split I've ever seen! I'll show you the full installation. Every step is covered in detail. This is my first time installing this type of mini-split heat pump and it worked great. I'm installing this in my garage, workshop, to cool it in the summer, and help heat it in winter. The installation went pretty smooth. The included manual shows you how to install most of the parts. I installed this in the middle of summer, and it's hot! After 48 hours of run-time the mini-split had the whole garage cooled to 64°F and is only drawing a tiny 130 Watts to maintain that temperature! Wow! That's amazing how the inverter driven compressor can draw so little power.The manual says to just pull a vacuum using a vacuum pump. However, I also include using a nitrogen tank to pressure test the system and check for leaks. Since this mini-split can run on straight 240V (no neutral) I can run this on my Growatt inverters that I installed in a previous video. Actually, I could install up to 5 of these mini-split air conditioners on just one Growatt 5000 inverter. That's a cool way to move some loads off the grid. This is a Li-NMC battery out of a BMW Active E. There are 96 cells in series making a nominal 355.2 Volt battery, at 80 Amp hours. This comes out to 28,416 Wh, or about 28.4 kWh of capacity. Paralleling 3 inverters together, Growatt 5000w Solar System DavidPoz 2021-06-06 | Wiring 3 inverters together in parallel to make a 15kw system! These inverters are the Growatt 5000ES model. It has a 5kw inverter putting out 240v AC from a 48v DC battery. This inverter has a built in MPPT solar charge controller that can accept up to 6kw of solar PV per inverter. That means I can have up to 18kw of solar panels connected.I'm wiring these inverters with a solar-edge auto transformer. This allows me to split the 240v into two 120v legs. Couple wires a huge, High Voltage, Solar PV Array, 12.6kW DavidPoz 2021-05-28 | We are completing the wiring on all our backyard solar arrays. Together, they total 12.6kw of solar PV. We are wiring these in large series strings to make high voltage DC. This will feed into our garage through an underground conduit. The solar MPPT charge controllers are built into the Growatt inverters, model SPF 5000 ES. Each 5kw inverter can accept up to 6000 watts of solar PV input, and up to 450 volts DC. Using high voltage PV helps lower the cost of wires and combiner boxes. Water Heater Diversion Load and Capacity Test DavidPoz 2021-05-15 | Let's find out what the total usable capacity is of my mixed up battery bank. I have some LiFePO4 and some Li-NMC cells working together in the same battery bank. This is not the ideal way of building a battery bank. I did it this was because I've been adding batteries over time as I get the money and build them up.Half this video is setting up the wiring for the bottom water heater element on my hot water tank. This will server two functions. First, it gives me a fixed load for capacity tests (which I'm doing in this video). Second, it will allow me to wire the bottom element to a relay and control it as a diversion load. I'm not doing the diversion relay in this video, that will be in a future video. In this video I'm just manually turning on the water heater with the circuit breaker. DIY: Super Insulated She-Shed with Radiant Floor heating DavidPoz 2021-04-02 | My wife is now working from home, as I'm sure many of you have needed to do. Since our home is rather small she was working on the kitchen table. With two kids also home, this was not great for all of those ZOOM meetings. So I made her a home office from our tool shed. The outdoor tool shed is fully insulated with Dense-pack cellulose insulation. Some would say it's super insulated. The walls and floor are about an R-42. The ceiling is more because it's packed all the way to the roof. This is known as a hot roof since there is no venting. I removed the tools, and siding from one wall. I installed two new windows. These windows are double hung, double pane, insulated glass. Not the lowest U-factor, but it's OK. Having two windows allow for a cross breeze when both are open. Since there was no heating system, I needed to add one. We decided on an electric radiant floor. This was a DIY kit with the electric resistance wire already attached to a mat. This mesh mat made installation fast and easy. The kit is called from LuxHeat. Link below.After that I used a self-leveling compound (similar to thin-set, or cement). This was poured 1/2" thick to embed the wires. I had some real trouble with this step as you see in the video.The walls are covered in bead board paneling and painted white. There are 6 recessed LED light fixtures. The floor is a oak laminate, floating floor. Thanks to my wife and daughter for helping in the build. This is an all in one unit with a 5kw inverter, 80 amp AC charger, 100 amp solar MPPT charge controller. It's a great value at only $900 at the time of this video.This is a 48v inverter/charger made for off grid use. You can use the grid for charging your batteries as a backup, but not for back-feeding the grid. It's single phase, 240v AC only. So you will need a transformer if you want to get 120/240v split phase out of this. I'll go into more details on the split phase in an upcoming video. This is the best value, cheapest, inverter I've tested so far. Yes, it's cheap at $900 for all the components you get. In future videos I'll continue testing to see how well it holds up. At only $300/kwh nothing else comes close. This is a LiFePO4 battery, pre-built from the factory with a BMS, circuit breaker, all in a beautiful case. It's ready to go to work with your powerwall and off grid solar system. No need to add a BMS. It's rated for nominal 51.2v so it works with normal 48v equipment (inverters and MPPT charge controllers). This is the Gyll brand sold by Signature Solar. It's 100ah, 5,120wh. That's over 5.1kwh per battery!Retail price as of this video is $1,500, which is less than $300/kwh. Update: There is no longer a discount code available.In the video I do a full capacity test. Why is this new battery The Gamechanger from Battle Born DavidPoz 2021-03-02 | Comparison video between Battle Borns flagship battery (12v 100ah) to their brand new battery (12v 270ah). Why is this new one so special? Both are sealed batteries, water resistant. Both have LiFePO4 cells (lithium iron phosphate). Both are 12v. The new one just looks more expensive per kwh. Update: I made a mistake in the spreadsheet. When I did my conversion from cubic inches to cubic feet I divided by the area factor, not volume factor. The cubic feet volume of the original battle born should read 0.46, and the new model 1.23. Both have the same volume to kwh ratio of 0.38 cu.ft./kwh. Cheap, But Crazy Good Saw Cuts Through Thick Steel Plate DavidPoz 2021-02-15 | This circular saw from Evolution impressed me. I was able to cut thick steel plate, 3/16 inch thick.
