This song, from their "Yankee Hotel Foxtrot" album, is a favorite of mine and this version is just about as good as it gets. I discovered Wilco with YHF and after playing it every day for a year on my iPod, in my car and at work I bought all their previous albums beginning with Summer Teeth and working backwards. Our 1993 Broadcast Television Experience HiHo44 2008-11-03 | My wife had a friend who worked for a major television network and in Febuary of 1993 our family was chosen to be on the news show American Closeup. They filmed us from 10am to 10pm, twelve hours for a two minute segment. Even my cat got in the picture. It was quite a day. We were chosen simply because we lived on Clinton Avenue in Brooklyn and were middle class. This was the tie in to Bill Clinton who was planning tax reform during his first term of office to try and get the country back on it's feet again. Strange how those times closely parallel what is happening now in 2008. Don't forget to vote tomorrow... Posted so all of our "old" friends can laugh at how young we look. PS- The recording studio (Hit Factory) that you see in the video was turned into luxury condos in 2007.

Jones passed after a few laps and never looked back, until he crashed hard coming onto the main straight off the diving turn and parked the million dollar Jag for the day. It wasn't even his fault, something broke on the car. The race was eventually won by Fangio in the #99 Toyota with Chip Robinson in the #83 Nissan taking 2nd and Pete Halsmer and Price Cobb taking 3rd and 4th in the #78 and #77 Mazdas. There are a lot of scenes featuring the two Mazda's bacause I liked how they looked and sounded. The soundtrack is from a GREAT obscure 1980 Metromen album. Heres what inspired James McColl from The Hussy's to write this song: "I was wandering around Borders Books where they sell glossy international magazines that you don't get in your local Spar. I opened one up and there was a story about girls that worked in a processing plant for nuclear materials in Russia. During the day they had their hands in those big protected grabbers and were dismantling bombs and then at night they were holding magic beauty queen wands and wearing tiaras. What also intrigued me was that the Atom Cities that they worked in weren't on the map until a few years ago. The Russians hid them from Western eyes. I know there are no street names or post codes in Albania but living in a whole city that didn't exist on a map must have been strange. Did they reprint special limited edition maps for the children in the schools in these places? One of the bonuses of living in an Atom City was free bus transport apparently which more than makes up for not existing..." A great tune about being old and obsolete but still possessing common sense. This comes from the excellent "Blinking Lights and Other Revelations" CD, one of the best double albums ever recorded. Grace Potter and The Nocturnals Mastermind RAVE-HD HiHo44 2008-04-01 | This is a live performance of "Mastermind" by Grace Potter and The Nocturnals which recently aired on the excellent all HD commercial free cable channel RAVE-HD. The song, which features a high energy killer chorus, is from the Nocturnals new album "This Is Somewhere" on Hollywood Records. Well worth purchasing, as there is not a bad song on it. I work in television and consequentially watch very little TV at home except RAVE-HD. For RAVE to take a chance on a new band like the Nocturnals and give them not half an hour, not an hour, but a full 90 minutes really impresses me. Add to this "Later With Jools Holland" and other great music programs and you'll realize why I tune to this channel every time I turn on my HDTV.
