Struggling for Control (ATC) Clarky Aviation 2020-10-23 | First aired on 15th February 1988, this Horizon documentary looks at the growth of the UK's Air Traffic Control network, and the problems that this created in terms of airspace congestion and the increased likelihood of air-misses. The program discusses the limited aerial capacity of UK airspace, the limits of the technology of the time (the ageing IBM 9020) and the introduction of new technologies such as Flow Control and Conflict Alert - systems that are still in use today. Clearing the skies over Heathrow on Runway 09L! Clarky Aviation 2020-07-31 | Hi everyone and welcome to a new series called "Clear the Stacks"! In my job I manage the holding stacks for aircraft landing at Heathrow, and place them "downwind" for the Final approach Director (FIN) to line them up with the runway. During the pandemic and furlough I have been playing a game called London Control to keep my skills sharp, and have been enjoying clearing some busy skies for fun!Today we are simulating aircraft landing towards the east on runway 09 Left. A small part of the job of the Intermediate Director (INT) at Heathrow is working departures that head towards the Compton (CPT) VHF radio beacon, and you'll see a few of those in this video. D-Sprint | 13th August 2016 | Sandown Clarky Aviation 2016-08-30 | Here's my video of the D-Sprint race at Daytona Sandown on the 13th of August 2016. We had a 10(ish) minute qualifying session followed by a 20 minute race in the 4-stroke karts.I was racing against a friend of mine in Kart number 13 - he got a good start on me but ended up spinning out on the first lap and that was the end of his race! There were 24 people on track, which made it a pretty busy race with lots of overtaking. I managed to qualify in 6th and finished the race in 3rd!

Free in NYC | SR20 | HD Clarky Aviation 2014-12-11 | In the summer of 2014 I completed the FAA's course, and then took a Cirrus SR20 from Fitchburg down through the Hudson exclusion at New York City. I flew straight down the river, below the tops of the skyscrapers! It was amazing to get to the bottom of the city and circle around the statue of liberty, then fly back all along Long Island!I spoke to Kennedy Approach and they asked me to fly along Long Island below 500', so I got a great view of it and got to buzz all of the people on the beaches! Low Passes at Prestatyn | HD + Comms | PA28 Clarky Aviation 2014-04-15 | In this video I fly over to Prestatyn and do a few low passes at the beach, then fly back to Manchester over Liverpool. I flew over Prestatyn because I had some friends at a conference there - they were out on the beach to watch me fly past! The picture goes all wobbly at full throttle because the CMOS sensor in the GoPro seems to resonate at that frequency!
