The Cartier Panthère was first introduced in 1983 to double as jewelry. It was named the Panther, the maison’s emblematic animal because of its ultra-flexible bracelet that mirrors the movements of a panther.The watch was actually released as a men’s watch. It was worn by actors and musicians like Pierce Brosnan, Charlie Sheen and Keith Richards in the 80s. This is a vintage watch and although it looks like a typical Rolex, it is quite special and unique!The first Air-King date was introduced in 1959. It was essentially an Air-King time-only watch available on the market at the time BUT with 2 major differences: 1. It had a yellow gold fluted bezel as opposed to smooth and silver in color like the original Air-King. 2. The new and improved watch also had a date function.This is an Air-King Date from 1988. It is automatic, caliber 1520.Rolex has discontinued the Air-King Date. But two-tone models like this one can be purchased on the pre-loved market. Prices begin at around $4500 USD for a Rolex Air-King Date on an oyster bracelet. Rolex Air-King Dates on leather straps are a little less expensive. Cartier Tank Vermeil VS Cartier Tank SolarBeat: Whats the Difference and Which is the Better Tank? Donna Isabella 2023-11-15 | Hey guys, I just wanted to hop on here today to take a few minutes to compare 2 Cartier tank watches: 1 vintage one from the 90s (the Cartier Tank Vermeil) and 1 that is sold today in Cartier boutiques around the world (the Cartier Tank SolarBeat).If we put the two side by side, we can see that the similarities are uncanny! The biggest most notable differences is that the newer Tank is bigger in size. They do not make Tanks in this Tank Vermeil size anymore or at least not for the moment. Another major difference is the material they are composed of and the color of the hardware. The tank Vermeil is silver and plated gold while the Tank Solarbeat is stainless steel. Although there is about a 30 year age gap between these 2 models, we can see that aesthetically the Cartier Tank has not changed all that much. I would have loved to compare a 3rd model like the very first Cartier Tank that was released in 1919 to these two just to show how the Tank has really stood the test of time. It is a model that was designed over 100 years ago and it is still very popular today. The tank does not look outdated whatsoever and has just really aged well. In the watch world, Cartier gets criticized a lot for not really innovating or updating their designs but in all honesty why would they need to innovate a watch like the Tank ?!? It’s over 100 years later and this watch is still in high demand. Why change something that isn’t broken?!? I really respect Cartier for staying true to their identity after all these years. They have created the ultimate classic wristwatch. I guess what I am trying to say here is that I encourage you all to get out there and get yourself a Cartier Tank. So for those of you asking how it’s different from what I already have, well there are 4 main differences:1. Although it is another cable bracelet, it is a lot thinner than what I already have.2. There are no gemstones on this one.3. Yes, it’s a bangle but the buckle does close so it’s not an open bracelet.4. The size is not as easily adjustable as my other bracelets.I did decide to treat myself a little bit this time. I went for something with a little more frosting than I would usually.
