TheOldrecordclub 2021-03-11 | Carrying on here with the snow theme with this catchy little tune by "The Edwin Davids Jazz Band" There have been so many versions of this tune over the years, which was made very famous after being used in the British comedy show "The Benny Hill Show" which was something i used to love watching.. I believe the original version of this tune was by "Boots Randolph" but i think this version was probably the most popular, well at least it was in the UK anyway, and i think this one was released about 1983, but not 100% sure on that, and I thought i would quickly squeeze this video in before the warmer weather arrives here in the UK.. The band is considered a one-hit wonder as "Driver's Seat" was their only hit.. This song only got to number 42 in the UK singles chart in 1979, which is such a shame as i think it's a really great song.. There have been so many covers of this song over the years, but this version has always been one of my favourites.. TheOldrecordclub 2018-08-24 | This fantastic song by "Jimmy Jones" which i very much like, was released in 1960 and made number 1 in the UK charts and number 3 on the Billboard Hot 100 over in the U.S.. The footage here is of the 59 club, which was a rockers club actually set up by the Reverend "Bill Shergold" In Hackney Wick East London, and this man turned out to be a bit of a celebrity in the 60's, known as the Biker Priest, and the ton-up Vicar.. At one point this club had over 4000 members.. It just goes to show if the older generation and religious people like the man here, meet the younger generation on their level, then a good connection between the two can take place... This is yet another great singer who was taken far too early in life as she died at the age of 31 from breast cancer... i lost someone close to me a number of years ago to Breast cancer so i know very well just how devastating this cancer in particular can be.. The footage here was all filmed close to my home in North Devon, with the first clip being Saunton Sands, the second clip being in Ilfracombe, and the Third clip in Fremington... This song by “Kate Bush” which was released in 1980 made it to number 16 in the UK charts.. The song is about the effects of war and about a mother who grieves for her young adult son, who was killed on military manoeuvres.. Saddened by his death, she wrestles with her guilt over her sons death, and what she could have done to prevent it.. Hope the end part of this video does not upset too many people, but our fallen heroes should never be forgotten.. The lyrics are a bit sad but I have added them below in case you want to read them...

Personally i think this is one of the very best Psychedelic songs ever written and recorded, and i would advise anyone to put their headphones on while listening to this, it's sounds awesome using them.. TheOldrecordclub 2017-12-01 | This catchy little song by "The Piglets" was released in 1971 and got to number 3 in the UK charts, and the song was written by "Jonathan King" .. I just love this song, and i love the accent of the London girl here.. The Skinhead culture among the youth in England first started about 1969 i think, and my older brother was an original skinhead back then, but i never had my hair cropped until the very late 70's early 80's.. They mainly followed Ska & Reggae music which i still love to this day..

Dave Brubeck ~ Take Five (1959) (London)

TheOldrecordclub 2017-11-17 | Here we have probably my second favourite instrumental of all time, and even though this beautiful instrumental was released in late 1959, i have gone for a 60's theme for this video as all the footage here was in the 1960's and filmed in London.. This tune was played throughout the 60's, and in my opinion symbolizes the 1960's, and it was used in many TV programs and films during this period, and made it to number 25 on the Billboard Hot 100 and number 5 on Billboard's Easy Listening chart in 1961, two years after its initial release.. This one was also re-recorded in 1961 with lyrics written by Dave Brubeck and his wife Lola.. Put your headphones on for this one, its totally awesome...

Also This version was played over the credits of the 1966 BBC TV film "Cathy Come Home".. All the footage here was filmed in the UK... Another version of this song that i like very much was the one by "The Journeymen" but that version would be more suited to my folk channel...

Candy Darling was also the subject of Reed's earlier song for The Velvet Underground, "Candy Says"… I really like this song and love the saxophone bit in it, and I hope you like this old Cini camera footage which was filmed in the 70’s at the same time of this songs release, I thought it went really well with this song…

Simon & Garfunkel ~ El Condor Pasa (If I Could) (1970)

TheOldrecordclub 2017-09-15 | This beautiful version of “El Condor Pasa” (if I could) was released in 1970 and made it to number 18 on the Billboard hot 100, but this tune actually goes way back to 1913 where it was composed by “Daniel Alomis Robles” There has been over 4000 versions of this tune over the years, along with 300 sets of lyrics, but this version is one of my very favourites...

Max Harris ~ Gurney Slade (1960)

TheOldrecordclub 2017-08-10 | Sadly this video is not available to be listened to on mobile devices, so this is very much going to limit the views I get, as most people watch videos on YT these days on mobile devices, but hey never mind I have still uploaded this fine tune by “Max Harris” which was released in 1960 and it got to number 11 in the UK charts.. This theme tune was also used in the TV series “Strange World Of Gurney Slade” which stared “Anthony Newley” The footage I have used here was of the mods and Rockers of the 60’s going about their thing, including fighting on the seafronts on bank holiday Mondays, and some things never change lol…

Raymond Lefèvre ~ Soul Coaxing (Ame Câline) (1968)

TheOldrecordclub 2017-07-13 | This lovely instrumental was released in 1968 but sadly only made it to number 46 in the UK singles chart, but it done a bit better over in the U.S making it to number 37 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart... It was often used as a theme tune for Radio Caroline, Radio Luxembourg and other radio stations, including some in the United States. Hope you like the footage i have used for this video, as it really is "Soul Coaxing"...

Jethro Tull ~ Living in The Past (1969)

TheOldrecordclub 2017-06-30 | I really do like this song from the British band “Jethro Tull”, and it was released in 1969 and was also on the album of the same name which was released in 1972.. This song actually got to number 3 in the UK charts when it was originally released, and when the album came out In 1972 this song went to number 11 in the billboard hot 100 over in the U.S.. I have heard many younger people say how they wish they grew up in the 60’s with all the fine music that was around then, and there sure was some fine music and singers around in the 60’s, so with this video clip here one can see some people from this time at one of the greatest outdoor music concerts ever held “WOODSTOCK” which was also held in 1969...
