Sydney Opera House 2024-09-06 | In March 2024, Arnold Schoenberg's Gurrelieder was transformed into a musical tapestry of monumental scale, featuring an orchestra of 140 musicians and a chorus of 285. This unmissable experience was captured beautifully in Sydney to celebrate Schoenberg's 150th birthday, marking the piece as one of the composer's most romantic works.

Set against a vast sound world, Gurrelieder tells a beautifully crafted tale of love and loss, adapted from Danish legend. Its epic themes of passion, jealousy, and a quest for love that transcends life rival any fantasy saga. In a musical landmark, Chief Conductor Simone Young leads the Sydney Symphony in this extraordinary work for the first time in the Orchestra's history.

The event featured an all-star cast, including celebrated tenor Simon O'Neill and the remarkable German soprano Ricarda Merbeth, who made her long-awaited return to Sydney. The film recording of this spectacular romance preserves an exceptional moment in the Orchestra's history, offering audiences a chance to relive the grandeur and emotion of this immense work, presented by the Sydney Symphony Orchestra.

Sydney Opera House 2024-05-16 | Returning to Australia for Vivid LIVE in 2023, master singer-songwriter José González celebrated the 20th anniversary of the album that launched him, 2003’s indie folk classic, Veneer. A sublime take on the singer-songwriter sound, Veneer is more than just a classic of introspective folk pop – it’s become part of the fabric of modern life.

To celebrate the anniversary of his breakthrough record, the virtuoso guitarist returned to the Sydney Opera House for three Australian exclusive solo shows, performing the songs from Veneer – and more than a few other classics.

Camp Cope | Live at Sydney Opera House

Sydney Opera House 2024-02-22 | An iconic Australian band’s last hurrah.

The influential Australian trio played their final show ever and drew legions of fans to the Concert Hall to revel in their incredible achievements as a band and farewell their fans in the best way they knew how, with one last epic performance. The ARIA-nominated trio got the rousing send off they deserve, as singer-guitarist Georgia Maq, bassist Kelly-Dawn Hellmrich and drummer Sarah Thompson celebrated a career hard fought – and won – on their own terms.

As Maq once said, “Camp Cope is in defiance of everyone who’s tried to bring us down, and it’s like: Well, you can’t, because we have each other, and we’re a mountain together.”
