Sub-2! Somewhat smoother movements, but those switch presses can definitely
be improved. Btw not grabbing the BFG until after I press the switch beyond
the blue key door might've helped with the timesaves since I no longer have
to go through that small tunnel like I did in my old run.
Also there are little jumps that you can do in the first room, but doing
that tends to linedef skip the one that lowers the wall hiding the
second switch. Speaking of linedef skips, I get a lot more during the final
stretch with the teleporters. And that megasphere stair, still gets me a
couple of times!

I genuinely didn't remember running this map... Oh boy...
I guess you just have to wiggle around to get stuck less, but then
you face the issue of missing the path because you wiggle too much, so
ehhhhhhhhhh... At least it's not a tic beat run though :v

The movement in that dark red key section could be improved, but that
climb out of it is smooth so I'll take this one.
In my original run I didn't get to use the teleporter right after pressing
the blue key switch, but this time I did get to use it! Not sure how much
time that saved, I think there's a bit of time saved since it places you
in front (or behind?) the raising floor section so I don't have to wait
for the floor to rise.
Other than that the movement are somewhat smoother this time around :D

Comments:
First run of 2026! And it's for the 3 Hour Meltdown competition, where the goal
is to get a sum of kills, items and secrets to be 200% or more in the fastest
time possible. And I got 16th place.
Haven't done any runs since the Dance on the Water MAP03 NoMo run, and then to
suddenly came back to this, a *very obviously* not NoMo run is quite interesting...
But I am certainly quite rusty, and have not yet derusted myself. (ha get it?)
And I didn't see myself winning anyway, so after I got a 3:43 blind run I decided to
go for sub-1:30, so not a super low goal. Then I got a 1:57, and then a 1:38, and then
finally got under 1:30 with a 1:27. At that point there's like 20 minutes left so
I decided to grind some more hopefully for a better time, and then got this 1:25.
Not the best time in the world, but it's fine. The route is decent (I copied it from
Vytaan's 1:08 run), but after the competition ended he said that I could get a better
time if I've used Ancalagon's or Orii's route instead of his, and I *have* considered it,
but I thought that it might've been too late to change the route so I just sticked to
Vytaan's route for the most part. But oh well... It's still a fun time nontheless, despite
me having to stay up all night due to being on the other side of the world (fun fact it
starts at 1am for me).
But hey, despite the not-so-good time, since I got 16th place I got a free month of Discord
Nitro as a bonus gift from the random roll. Cooool!!!! Genuinely didn't expect myself to win
ANYTHING AT ALL from this competition, but I'll definitely take it! Thx Ravendesk!
Perhaps the extra time I took to shave off 2 seconds off that 1:27 pb was worth it afterall :D
Oh well, time to continue having the break before I start doing runs again.
(aka until I become less busy, I have lots of things to do right now)
Oh btw all those times I mentioned earlier are provided inside the "bonus" folder!

This one on the other hand... Yea... Not good :v
I got way too low on health, panicked, ran into an archvile, and died. Yep, that's pretty much how that one goes... But I did have a good laugh out of that situation lol

Category: 2
Survived in: 19:03
Kills: 218/242
I still remembered this map from the Dean of Doom review, Zdenda1990's and decino's playthroughs, and also from me doing a NoMo run of this map, even though I have watched/done them like 2-3 years ago... So yeah Category 2 it is!
But even then I'd still think that this one went pretty well. Things got a bit spicy near the end of the final fight but I narrowly escaped death and teleported away. Phew, that was nerve-wracking, at least there's no longer any threat after that point so yay :D

Could this mean that Vytaan.wad will come at some point?????? :hmm:
Yes, that the idea I had for this map. And the Pirate Doom 2 theme of this project really fits with the idea (you can see it in the video)...
As for the map name, I vaguely remembered watching a food reviewer reviewing a menu item called "Hot Flying Bird", and it's a whole chicken with some spicy flavors, which I tried to depict in this map (with the lava being the "spicy" part). Also because I never played PD2 this is the first time I saw the revenant fireball replacement, and I think it (unintentionally) makes the map name fit even better! :0
And the best thing of all is that all the playtesters and also the project lead all thinks that this map would be a good first proper map, and it eventually did become the first proper map (though map03 is also a good contender, pretty fun map!). It's a pretty fun map to make and I'm glad they liked it :D
And speaking of ideas, I do have another map idea that I might utilize in Fastfood 3... So we'll see how that goes I guess :hmm:
Yes I recorded this using Nugget Doom, and with a controller, mainly to feature the custom weapon carousel textures that PD2 added, which is a cool detail!

Wasted a few BFG shots, and forgot to grab some ammo boxes so I have to beat the cyberdemon using mostly the pistol. Thankfully I didn't panicked this time around :p
Also, I got a bit lost in the red key room after the cyberdemon fight... and also the exit area lmao :v (didn't check the front panel of the shuttle while being in there the first time)

Context for this: While doing the run I have a playlist of Velvetic midis open so I could listen to something other than IWAD musics, and then "Vacant Places" started playing pretty much as soon as I went into that red cave section... Cool timing, so I decided to use it in the video as well :D

My 666th demo...
Why this map specifically? Oh boy do I have a long story to tell you text file
readers out there...
So first of all, the music. Some of the midis included in this wad are the first
Opeth-related contents I ever heard, and the midi for this map specifically hits
close to me, as I was planning to do a more story- and emotion-heavy video project
(that is not doom related) at the time. Will not go too deep into that thing but yeah
because of this midi I decided to go and listen to Opeth for the first time and since
then it has shifted the direction of the story significantly... So thx Opeth for the
musics, and El Inferno for using some of the midi renditions of said musics.
Next, the map. It's a big one, yes! I think I got lost in it for about 30-40 minutes
in-game time while trying to route this map back in 2023, all while having the midi on
so that it hits even closer to me (well, mostly the first half of it anyways). There is
sooo much optional content to be found here, and at the time I thought a lot of them are
part of the progression, so I pretty much abandoned the project for the time being. Then
earlier this year I decided to revisit this map for "the big six" demos (because of the
reason I mention above about the music). So I went ahead and reroute the run, and then I
realize that a lot of the contents here are optional and that there is a more straight
route from start to finish. So that's a relief for me at least :p
The scary parts that kind of make me put this map aside are the shooting range after
grabbing the red key, as well as the platforming section at the end of the map (which
you have to do twice!) Turns out it's not so bad, the shooting range give you lots of
leeway time in case you missed a shot or two, and the finale part is a lot more managable
thanks to the stutter tap technique that I learned in the boscp16 run. The rest are pretty
easy. :D
There are quite a lot of improvements that could be made, for example going faster on the
very first platforming section, not failing both jumps from the rocket launcher and plasma
gun platforms (I failed the latter), doing more sharp turns on some places, and just
general movement optimizations stuff. Also, at the 5:00 mark, there is a small step
that you could use instead of the larger stairs that are slightly further away.
The thing is that I always use that smaller step in practice, but as soon as I started
doing attemps I completely forgot about those smaller steps and just use the stairs.
And only while rewatching the demo I remembered about those step... Damn... Oh well,
I'm pretty much done with this map so if anyone wants to improve the time further,
go ahead!
Anyways I will be busy with other things (Doom-related and not) for a while so this will be
the final demo from me for some time... Not sure when I will be coming back, but until then,
signing off! -NTD

The music... The map... I love them so much! (especially the music, but I like
the map too because it's very yellow heh)
I decided to include this run as one of "the big six" mainly because of the music,
which idk why but it kinda hit pretty close to me... Will not go too deep into it,
but yeah, thx to Korp and LPad who compose this beauty and behemoth of a MIDI (which
is about 1MB in size, which is pretty crazy for a MIDI)
This run is pretty good, again there are a few spots where things could be improved,
for example at the 2:45 mark where I suddenly forgot where to go for a split second.
Also at the final arena you can fall into the side platforms before they raise up
to get to the second half of the arena faster. Might not save much time, but still
cool to do :v

Profane Promiseland... but the Classic version
So when I decided what demos I would do for the final six, at first I picked
Community Chest MAP29, but then I discovered that the trick I want to showcase
has already been showcased by another runner, so I abandoned that idea.
(and it's also because that map can be rather confusing to run, especially if
you suddenly forgot the route)
As a result, I decided to do this map as a replacement. I did this one right
after doing the Okuplok run, which was done after the run of the new Profane
Promiseland map. And I can say that this itteration is veeeeeery different than
the newer one. The texture style is different (using vanilla textures instead of
a custom texture set), which can be an eyesore at times, but it's not too bad.
Some of the arenas are also missing (like the "Revenant Cobra" arena), and parts
of others are different too (like there is a lowering wall that goes on for
about 2-3 minutes after you've press the switch at the end of the "Ketchup Factory"
arena like wha). But the final arena is completely different, and the "Grind Mountain"
arena is no longer a secret, optional fight so you have to go through that arena to
finish the map, but you don't have to wait nearly as long, fortunately. The jumps in
the "Healthagone" arena are not as hard as in the newer itteration, but the switch
order are slightly different, so I have to adjust the route because of it, in fact
quite a lot of adjustments to the route have been done for this itteration of the map.
The run is, again, solid, but there are a few optimizations that could be applied.
For example, the jump at the 9:10 mark, you can trigger the teleport linedef while
falling. But at least I did get the jump at the 15:45 mark, so that's cool I guess.

5 minutes and 10 seconds faster than the previous record by loveless.
When I watched loveless' run, I see it more as a walkthrough through the map (no
offense btw), and I see a few spots where the time could be improved, so I decided
to give it a try... And here's the result!
There are quite a few places where the time could be improved further, like the
platforming section at the start and the one between the "Pinky Descent" and
"Commando Crossing" arenas. And then I swear I thought I have more time to
wait for the lift to get out of the "Crimson Colosseum" arena, so I go and
grab some supercharges for the lolz, and then get to the lift a second or two
late, and then in the "Crossfire Arena" I forgot the locations of some of the
switches and which way to exit out of the arena which loses me a few more
seconds. But otherwise it is a pretty good run, but if you want to improve
this run further, be my guest!

Profane Promiseland...
There are quite a few improvements that could be done, like triggering the teleport linedef
while falling at the 10:34 mark, not failing the jump at the 12:44 mark, and landing the
jump to a higher point on the staircase at the 14:44 mark. There is also a possible linedef
skip softlock if you go through the room past the blue key door too quickly, which is why
I took it slow there and make sure that those linedef are triggered properly.
But otherwise this is a pretty solid run. And since you can tag the secret while the Romero
Head is dying, I decided to make this a NoMo100S run instead of a regular NoMo run.
And yes there is a MAP02 ending map... I usually showcase them when I reached the end of the
main map, but I only remembered that there is one after I have finished the demo, so whoops :v

After 5 months of not doing any runs, I came back to this map... Interesting choice...
This map looks cool, and this midi is good, so yeah!
Some of the platforming parts here, I learned that doing some stutter taps after
landing on the next platform can help with making those parts easier. But sometimes
I still fail at those platforming sections, but it's not a big deal since it's not
a long run anyway...
Also, that final arena... I was being waaay too careful at that moment because I have
never reached those points, and are afraid about those insta-kill slime floors because
of one of the jump in that arena where I died once because I went straight in the
center where there is slime instead of to the side where it is safe. Whoops, lost
a few seconds there... Could've been sub-10 so if anyone want to give that a try, go
ahead!

After watching Vytaan and the gang playing Archipelago, I decided to give it a try myself... But the problem is, none of my friends that I usually talk to play classic Doom. I planned to do a Doom x Minecraft run, but then Minecraft is no longer supported officially... So yeah, singleplayer it is... It's still fun though!
And yes my mic is a bit "broken", so my voice might not get caught well at times... It's already fixed since then so we'll see how it goes whenever I decided to do Episode 2
Archipelago : archipelago.gg
Setup Guide : archipelago.gg/tutorial/DOOM%201993/setup_en (there is also one for Doom II on the website)
Where did I get that fancy chart at 0:42? I got it from this website: beta.doomspeedruns.com/players/nuruthedoomer/stats (it a pretty good mirror of DSDArchive)
Made back in August (I know I'm way too late with uploading this video) with the name "Hollowed-Out Ice Cream Sandwich"... Had a better map idea for this project, but decided to go with this one instead.
So the story as to how this idea came to be is that at the time I recently rewatched a Neurometry reaction video on one of Dean of Doom's Sawed-off Wads episode, where Neuro mentioned that the outer wall of The Given looks like "a giant ice cream sandwich". I thought that idea is funny and decided to make a map based on that idea :p

WHY THOSE SPIDERS DON'T WANT TO DIE??????? Again like in last year's Jenesis run I panicked when those arachontron just would not die :p
Also I got a bit lost after grabbing the blue key, but eventually found the way forward... Anyways this is my longest ironman run so far (also my first run in a while), so hooray?

The idea is that after Doomguy beats my last year's entry (set in a Nether-y base), they would travel through a Nether Portal and got out in a refinery station that is currently invaded by demons from the Nether. And that portal also somehow causes your entire inventory to be removed, bummer. At least someone left a SSG right next to the portal...
Anyways, can Doomguy beat the swarm of Nether-y demons and rescue one of the overworld's stations?
This is the first time I experimented with UDMF mapping and scripting. I'd say it's pretty fun! The amount of stuff you could do is pretty cool! Finally I can add a proper Minecraft door in a Minecraft-themed map thanks to polyobjects, which I can't do in the last year's entry because I was using MBF21 (or maybe GZDoom - Doom 2) mapping formats, which doesn't have all those fancy features. Other stuff worth mentioning is the colored lighting and sectors, and also customizable texture size, which is how I got that very big iron bar texture in the skull key room. Pretty cool stuff!
Thank you @DavidXNewton (again!!) for hosting RAMP!

I love the concept of just having many variations of the fireblu texture, and would really love to submit a proper map for this one... But... I can't do it... This map is done a few weeks after the PPSS2 map, so I guess I have completely ran out of ideas at this point... It's also around the time I got a bad fever (in the beginning of a streak of fevers that I would got over the next couple of months...). So I decided to make this map one evening as a sort of rest area for those who marathons this wad, since I saw that there are quite a few hard maps (that might be) in a row, so might as well.... right?
Wasn't proud of this one at all, let's be honest... But I guess this song kind of helps make the map a bit better, it kind of suits the vibe of this map quite well... Thanks FNAF World :)

If you're wondering, I used DSDA-Doom with the ReShade program and the "CRT Royale" preset to get that CRT overlay...
Context about Moko the Hamster that you see beside the grave:
So during the making of this map, I jokingly send a screenshot of that grave to a friend of mine, being like "ooooh spooooky" and all to him.
But around that time he lost his very beloved pet hamster called Moko, due to what he himself called "a tragic death". I won't go too deep into it, but it was a very deep lost to him as he takes very good care of that hamster and also because of the fact that he already lost two of his other hamsters due to other reasons, so losing the third and final one, especially like that... is unacceptable to him... Eventually he calms himself down and accepts the loss, because there is nothing he could do at this point...
So a bit after I sent him that grave screenshot, I decided to drew a little hamster pixel art beside the grave, since I knew about that death a few days prior to doing this map... And then after a few adjustments thanks to the picture he have of Moko, there he is in-game... In all his fireblu-textured glory... Fly high Moko... :)

Sort of a continuation (or a story branch) from the Junkfood 4 maps I made in October, this map is made in December for D0M0, as part of the premise of this wad...
Below are the main prompt:
Atmospheric Maps; Slightly starved on ammo; Involves non-linear key hunting to progress through the map; Strategically placed monsters; big finale fight
I think I got, like... 3 or 4 of the bulletpoints right... Idk... This is around the time I got the mapping block, and have absolutely have no idea on how to improve on this map, especially in the progression and combat department, so it is how it is... Sorry D0M0 for not following the prompt quite well... At least I got a proper map out for this one, unlike the next map I made... You'll see how bad it is...

If you're wondering, I used Nugget Doom + the ReShade program and the "CRT Royale" preset to get that CRT overlay...

I was panicking when I saw the revenants at the exit, and it brought me to my death lol. Probably shouldn't have wasted lots of ammo too
Also, I did a nomo demo pack of this mapset a few months ago, and remembered the map layouts quite well, so category 2 it is!

I did expect the ambush to be there, but by then I already started walking into the trap and didn't prepare myself... Pretty fun, especially with some of those spicy encounters in the run :)
