The world famous flower garden opened in 1949 and welcomed millions of visitors.
Spectacular this year are the blue tulips and the tulips with the Dutch flag colors.
Enjoy!
For those who cannot wait to surround themselves with floral splendor at Keukenhof Garden and blooming flower fields, they have an opportunity to visit HoBaHo's greenhouse at the end of February.
It's the most sought-after taste of what to expect from tulips, dahlias, lilies, nacissus, hyacinths and more in spring.

The video story narrates the Finnish oral folklore and mythology of the 19-century epic poet "Kalevala", written by Elias Lönnrot.
The Kalevala is regarded as the national epic of Karelia and Finland and is one of the most significant works of Finnish literature. The Kalevala was instrumental in the development of the Finnish national identity and the intensification of Finland's language strife that ultimately led to Finland's independence from Russia in 1917.
The work is also well known internationally and has partly influenced, for example, J. R. R. Tolkien's legendarium (i.e. Middle-earth mythology).
'En Saga' is performed by the Lathi Symphony Orchestra, conductor Osmo Vänskä.

Storyline:
Strauss provided this program music with a meticulous description of the 22 parts. It starts gently, before sunrise. The 'rising' of the music is as gradual as when the sun rises. Finally, the sun rises triumphantly high in the sky. The hikers pass a waterfall. Later, fog creates a fairytale image. We hear cowbells. The adventure takes a turn when the hikers get lost. Eventually they reach the top, where they see a glorious panorama. But then the clouds take over. From a distance it starts to rumble. The hikers flee down the mountain, while the approaching thunderstorm breaks out in full force. As they descend, parts of the music are repeated, in reverse order. By the time they arrive downstairs, peace has returned; the sun sets and the moon rises. The ending is just as gentle as the beginning. This completes the circle.
As a boy, Strauss experienced an Alpine adventure similar to the one described in his 'An Alpine Symphony': he and a group of climbers lost their way heading up a mountain and were caught in a storm and soaked on the way down.
Performed by the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestral; Bernard Haitink, conductor (London 2012).

In this final movement Respighi recalls the past glories of the Roman empire in a representation of dawn on the great military road leading into Rome.
It portrays pine trees along the Appian Way (Latin and Italian: Via Appia) in the misty dawn, as a triumphant legion advances along the road in the brilliance of the newly-rising sun.
Respighi wanted the ground to tremble under the footsteps of his army and he instructs the organ to play bottom B♭ on the 8′, 16′ and 32′ organ pedals.
The score calls for six buccine – ancient circular trumpets that are usually represented by modern flugelhorns, and which are sometimes partially played offstage.
Trumpets peal and the consular army rises in triumph to the Capitoline Hill.
Performed by the Queensland Symphony Orchestra, conductor Johannes Fritzsch.
The third movement is a nocturne, set on the Janiculum hill and a full moon shining on the pines that grow on it.
Respighi called for the clarinet solo at the beginning to be played "come in sogno" ("As if in a dream")
The movement is known for the sound of a nightingale that Respighi requested to be played on a phonograph during its ending, which was considered innovative for its time and the first such instance in music.
Part 4 is a Majestic Finale and will be launched on Saturday, September 30, 2023.
Performed by the Queensland Symphony Orchestra, conductor Johannes Fritzsch.
It is a majestic dirge, conjuring up the picture of a solitary chapel in the deserted Campagna; open land, with a few pine trees silhouetted against the sky.
A hymn is heard (specifically the Kyrie ad libitum 1, Clemens Rector; and the Sanctus from Mass IX, Cum jubilo), the sound rising and sinking again into some sort of catacomb, the cavern in which the dead are immured.
An offstage trumpet plays the Sanctus hymn.
Lower orchestral instruments, plus the organ pedal at 16′ and 32′ pitch, suggest the subterranean nature of the catacombs.
Performed by the Queensland Symphony Orchestra, conductor Johannes Fritzsch.
In this symphonic poem, Respighi shows the pine trees that have dominated the cityscape of Rome and the deserted Campagna plain for centuries. The trees have become symbols of the once glorious Romanesque empire.
Part 1: Children are playing by the pine trees in the Villa Borghese Gardens, dancing the Italian equivalent of the nursery rhyme "Ring a Ring o'Roses".
They also march like soldiers and mimick battles, twittering and shreiking like swallows.
Performed by the Queensland Symphony Orchestra, conductor Johannes Fritzsch.

The video is my interpretation of the music and lyrics.
Born with a genetic disorder, neurofibromatosis, Jeff became visually impaired from a brain tumor (CLOD) at age 12. But it was during therapy for that tumor that the accidental artist developed a passion for painting, as well as philanthropy. He “just wanted to give back.”
Despite his low vision, Jeff began painting note cards and selling them at a driveway bake sale, “Jeff’s Bistro.” Proceeds were donated to The Children’s Tumor Foundation. Notecards gradually transitioned to acrylics on canvas, and the self-taught artist developed his heavily textured, boldly colored signature style. By age 15, Jeff incorporated his art business, and employed his parents as assistants—unexpected new careers for the emergency physician and marketer parents, Hal and Julie.
Jeff began donating some of his paintings to live charity auctions across the country, with his mission to “change the world through art.” By age 20, Jeff made national headlines when his artwork generated $1 million for charity. And upon his death, at age 27, Jeff had generated $6.5 million for over 200 charities and was on track to give $10 million by age 30. Jeff believed “every act of kindness helps create kinder communities, more compassionate nations and a better world for all—even one painting at a time.”

Note from Ray Vandenburg:
I met Jeff and his parents in 2012 during a tour of the Netherlands. I was impressed by Jeff's ability of creating art and his determination in achieving his goal in making a better world for those to whom he felt related to, like the Children’s Tumor Foundation.
When I recently welcomed Julie and Hal Hanson again, I decided to honor their son Jeffrey with this video to the benefit of his philanthropy business.

Yun Sim Deok was born in Pyongyang in 1897. She studied at the Pyongyang Girls' Middle and High Schools, and graduated from Kyongsong Women's Teaching College in Seoul in 1914.
After teaching for one year, Yun went to Japan, becoming the first Korean to study at the Tokyo Music School. There she met and fell in love with a married English literature student, Kim Woo Jin with whom she had an affair.
After graduating from music school, Yun returned to Korea, where she made her debut as a soprano in 1923. Though audiences were impressed by her powerful voice, she was unable to make a living performing Western classical music, and became a pop singer and actress to support herself.
Yun and Kim committed suicide together in 1926, jumping off of a passenger ship en route from Simonoseki to Busan. The shocking news caused a sensation in Korea, and Yun's 1926 recording of "In Praise of Death" (also called "Death Song") sold a record 100,000 copies following her death.
Yun also sang a song called "Caro Mio Ben".
The pictures in the video are from the Netflix mini series "Hymn Of Death".
It is interesting to see that almost one hundred years ago, record managers acted in a way the music industry nowadays is known for. But the maltreatment singers had to endure in an occupied country goes even beyond any imagination.
Amira's song 'Caro Mio Ben' is from the CD "Amira" recorded in 2014.

The Flower Duet is a duet for soprano and mezzo-soprano in the first act of Léo Delibes' opera Lakmé, premiered in Paris in 1883. It is sung by the characters Lakmé, daughter of a Brahmin priest, and her servant Mallika, as they go to gather flowers by a river.

The Czech libretto was written by the poet Jaroslav Kvapil (1868–1950).
A rusalka is a water nymph in Slavic mythology, usually inhabiting a lake or river.
Short summary of the opera:
Water nymph Rusalka falls in love with a human Prince. She wants to embrace him. Her father tells her it is a bad idea. Rusalka asks the witch Jezibaba for assistance. Rusalka sings her "Song To The Moon", asking it to tell the Prince of her love. Jezibaba tells Rusalka that, if she becomes human, she will lose the power of speech and immortality; moreover, if she does not find love with the Prince, he will die and she will be eternally damned. Rusalka agrees to the terms and drinks a potion.
The Prince, hunting a white doe, finds Rusalka, embraces her and leads her away, as her father and sisters lament.

El goce del amor no dura más que un momento
el dolor del amor dura toda la vida
He dejado todo
por la ingrata Sylvie.
ella me dejó y tomó otro amante
El goce del amor no dura más que un momento
el dolor del amor dura toda la vida
"Mientras este agua fluya mansamente
por este arroyo que bordea el prado
yo te amaré" me repetía Sylvie
el agua sigue fluyendo,
por mucho que ella haya cambiado
El goce del amor no dura más que un momento
el dolor del amor dura toda la vida
