So yeah, not a piano arrangement or black MIDI, thought I'd try something a bit more... I dunno, sophisticated? I'm not really sure what the right word would be, but regardless of that I've actually wanted to do something like this for quite a while now. The original track is quite repetitive, so some of the percussion might reflect that as well. A little flare I am proud of though is the buildup to the final verse, which featured some glissandos backed by increasingly powerful horns and a flute playing the main melody. In my opinion that's a step up from just repeating the same verse twice.

This song gets ridiculously overshadowed by Shanghai Teahouse in my opinion. I tried to give the video a strong classical Chinese vibe, overlaying the piano with a plucked string instrument called a guzheng. The piano is detuned to 432Hz as that is what the original song is in (I think).

I might be able to save my upload schedule after all.

So this is my first time arranging something from an anime, this being a fairly recent one about a girl who gets sold off to an old wizard. It's got some pretty cool fantasy themes and is really beautiful!

This particular theme was a little tough 'cause it's got some interesting chords and the progressions are a little weird and aren't as predictable as a lot of the Touhou stuff I do, but it was nice to get done.

So the Touhou 16 demo was released a few days ago, that's pretty cool. I played through it and so far I really like it! I have to say this Stage 1 theme is one of the better ones, and the rest of the soundtrack is pretty good as well. Then again, it's Touhou, so that's a given.

This arrangement was a huge pain in the ass, I spent a pretty long time getting the velocities right and messing around with the tempo. I'm glad with the outcome, I wanted it to sound more like a live play and I think it turned out pretty good.
